EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
IVs: 16 Def
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
[SET COMMENTS]
Paragraph 1:
Thanks to its ability to resist both of Miraidons STABs and its access to solid hazards control options in Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, Iron Treads is able to carve out a solid niche as a utility pokemon. Stealth Rocks deals chip damage upon switching in, this pairs well with knock off allowing Iron Treads Boots to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from pokemon that could otherwise switch in safely such as Ho-Oh and Alomomola, Knock off also allows Iron Treads to punish Calyrex Shadow and other ghost types that try to switch in and block rapid spin, notably knock off is able to guarantee an OHKO against Calyrex-Shadow without any defense investment. Rapid Spin allows Iron Treads to remove hazards from your side while keeping hazards up on the opposing side this allows Iron treads win hazards wars against common suicide leads such as Deoxys-Speed, Glimmora, and Ribombee unless they tera ghost. Earthquake is Iron Treads main stab option which is most notably able to Reliably 2HKO Miraidon while also dealing solid damage to most neutral targets. Iron Treads usually runs max hp investment and max spdef investment to allow it to check threats such as Miraidon lacking overheat and Eternatus Lacking Fire Blast, Lowering you defense IVs to 16 allows Iron Treads to receive a special defense boost instead of a defense boost from Quark Drive, this allows Iron Treads to check Miraidon more easily. Tera Normal allows iron treads to check Calyrex-Shadow in a pinch if your team's Calyrex-Shadow checks have been weakened.
Paragraph 2:
Iron treads can fit on a wide variety of teams but works best on bulkier teams that appreciate the hazard control that it provides. Iron Treads pairs quite nicely with Alomomola who is able to make up for Iron Treads lack of reliable recovery options with Wish support and is able to check common Physical treats that Iron Treads Struggles with such as Koraidon, Zacian-Crowned and Calyrex-Ice.
