Hatterene is a decent Triage user that can successfully check dangerous attackers like Aerilate Dragonite, Greninja, and most Chien-Pao. Calm Mind and its good bulk allow it to set up and beat bulkier foes as well. Psyshock provides effectively mixed coverage, most notably beating Blissey. For the last moveslot, Mystical Fire beats non-Well-Baked Body Corviknight and Gholdengo, Nuzzle cripples switch-ins like Kingambit, and Giga Drain hits Garganacl hard while providing more recovery and priority. Other sweepers benefit greatly from the dents placed by Hatterene, such as Shell Smash Polteageist and Dragon Dance Baxcalibur and Dragonite. Hatterene is weak to mainly priority-immune Chien-Pao, Great Tusk, and Shell Smash Polteageist. Kingambit, with or without RegenVest, is a reliable check to Polteageist. Great Tusk is a solid partner, as it handles many of Hatterene's checks and also provides entry hazard removal. Hatterene also struggles with Fire-type Pokemon, making teammates like Garchomp and Well-Baked Body Kingambit naturally good partners.

Hatterene acts as a great Triage user, with it being able to check many threats such as Aerilate Dragonite and Noivern, Loaded Dice Baxcalibur, Roaring Moon, Great Tusk, Greninja, Meowscarada, Quaquaval, Slither Wing and Non-Priority-Immune Chien-Pao is a good Triage user that can successfully check dangerous attackers like Aerilate Dragonite, Greninja, and most Chien-Pao. want to keep the list shorter It also has a good matchup against Garchomp and Ting-Lu, as well as beating Clodsire most of the time. Calm Mind allows and its good bulk allow it to setup and start either sweeping or denting major holes into the opponent's team, Draining Kiss is used as main STAB and Priority to beat the aforementioned threats and beat bulkier foes as well. Psyshock is used to beat any Blisseys or Clodsires, Mystical Fire hits non-Well-Baked-Body Corviknights and Gholdengos, 2 of Hatterene's biggest weaknesses. Giga Drain can be used over Mystical Fire to hurt Garganacls, or Nuzzle for utility; Stored Power can be used to damage Well-Baked Body Corviknight and Gholdengo variants as well as also beating Garganacl provides effectively mixed coverage, importantly beating Blissey. For the last moveslot, Mystical Fire beats non-Well-Baked Body Corviknight and Gholdengo, Nuzzle cripples switch-ins like Kingambit, and Giga Drain hits Garganacl hard while providing move coverage and priority. Max HP and Special Attack to ensure it lasts as long as possible as well as hitting as hard as possible. 252 Defense EVs over 252 Special Attack, as well as Bold Nature works for as much longevity as possible. Other sweepers benefit greatly from the dents placed by Hatterene, such as Shell Smash Polteageist and Dragon Dance Baxcalibur / and Dragonite. Hatterene is weak to mainly priority-immune Chien-Pao, Great Tusk, comma and Shell Smash Polteageist. Most Steel types and Fire types greatly hurt Hatterene as well, so a Great partner for Hatterene is Great Tusk, who threatens those Steels and Fairys. Great Tusk is solid partner, as it handles many of Hatterene's checks and also provides entry hazard removal.
