woo moving in!

Starting orientation and moving in for uni first year tomorrow! Anyone else moving in soon or already there? Any tips for us freshman, upperclassman? I'm pretty excited to customize my room at UMass and start university! :]

Who else is up in the Northeast?

Well, i moved out this year for the first time as well when i started my medical degree.
I did it a little bit differently though, and rented an entire house within a kilometre of campus for only $155 a week. Living on campus would have cost me close to $125 a week and i would have only got a small room.

So i got myself 2 housemates, a first year medical student like me (she was 23) and a 2nd year nursing student (18). So far so good, rent was down to $52 a week (plus bills).
Bought some essential furniture, which was all sweet. Just have to say that side of the street furniture is great as well!

ANyway, it all went well until the other med student went mental. Long story short she's a fucking spoilt brat who was used to getting everything her own way and couldn't hack it when i started to mention certain things that weren't being done. So she moved out.

Its a little bit more expensive to get started off as compared to living on campus, but i think the weekly living expenses are cheaper and the things you buy can hold you in good stead for the future as well.
I have more or less all i need for an entire house now (bar washing machine, drier, dining room table), which will be handy when i move to Sale (a town with no uni) for the first of my clinical years.

If i can give any other tips about moving out, just let me know!

remember though, you're only at college/uni once. Make the most of your time there. Join as many groups/clubs/frats as you can and take home with you as many experiences (and friends) as humanly possible. These are people you will be friends with for life!
