TEAM OVERVIEW

334-mega.png
Altaria

Mega Altaria has an unique typing, great power, coverage and sweeping potential. The biggest issues are some common wall Pokémon that completely stop Mega Altaria from seeping, such as Ferrothorn, Scizor, Skarmory and so many other Steel types. So having team mates that can handle those threats are highly appreciated.

manaphy.png
Manaphy
Manaphy pairs pretty well with Mega Altaria offensively as they can eliminate threats to each one of them. Also, Manaphy has a great move pool, giving you lots of options to work around your sets. Strong rain users can also take advantage if Manaphy is running Rain Dance.

tornadus-therian.png
Tornadus-Therian
With the addition of Tornadus-Therian this team can struggle less with threats such as Mega Venusaur and Starmie, as it can force them out immediately, which can give you the opportunity to gain some momentum if carrying U-Turn. Also with Manaphy carrying Rain Dance, Torn-T has a 100% accurate STAB Hurricane. His speed also allow Torn-T to outspeed fast mons such as Raikou, and common 110 base speed mons.

excadrill.png
Excadrill
Excadrill is also a great addition as it resists a lot of these mons weaknesses, including Fairy, Electric, Rock and Poison. Besides that, Excadrill having access to Rapid Spin makes him one of the best spinners in the game, having lots of opportunities to spin away hazards, helping the team from taking any unnecessary extra damage.

raikou.png
Raikou
The reason Raikou was chosen was to have some safe switch-ins with Mega Altaria and Manaphy with Volt-Turn core as they can't take unnecessary hits from anyone. I also decided to go with CM on Raikou because it can setup freely in a lot of situations such as facing an electric type like Manectric, Thundurus or Rotom-W, or even common Steel types such as Jirachi, Skarmory (no whirlwind)) and Klefki.

garchomp.png
Garchomp
Seeing my team with problema against common physical attackers I immediately added Garchomp in the team as it can force many mons to switch out, providing Garchomp an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. It also can stop setup sweepers with Dragon Tail.

Hi! You could try a replacement of Breloom over Garchomp. This lets you have a check to sand teams, and synergizes well with Mega Altaria in crippling opponents with Spore, beating bulky waters, and luring and weakening steel types for it. With this change, you can replace Toxic on Excadrill with Stealth Rock. I would also highly prefer Heat Wave on Torn-T, as adding Breloom over Garchomp makes your team weaker to Scizor.

Hmm this is supposed to be a balanced team, I need someone to tank physical hits, that's why I added chomp.

Hey, nice team here, i do have some suggestions for it :

First, i'd suggest Landorus-T instead of Garchomp, why ? Landorus-T give you a very good check to Charizard-X which, can eat your team since even M-Altaria is 2HKO'd by him with prior damage/sr. It will still work as an Stealth Rocker and as a physical attacker check, the ground immunity is very usefull too. With Sword Dance, you will be able to lure ground types such as Hippowdon for your Raikou which is pretty good.

Without Garchomp, you will have some problem to check annoying steel types for M-Altaria (and for your team in general since something like M-Scizor can beat your team if Manaphy is weaken), this is why i think Magnezone fite better than Excadrill one this team, i don't really think that Excadrill was really usefull for the team since your team isn't really hazard weak and anyway, your main stealth rock weakness (Tornadus-T because Altaria is too but you can loose it by mega-evolving so thats not a big deal) have acces to Regenerator which allow him to don't be hurt by stealth rocks. Magnezone is one of the best, if isn't the best teammate for M-Altaria because it trap effectively Ferrothorn, Skarmory and M-Scizor which are all good checks to the dragon dance variant. It also form a volt turn core with both of Tornadus-T and Raikou. It will give you also another revenge killer to M-Pinsir and another check to Talonflame.

You could also try another spread on your Tornadus-T : EVs: 172 HP / 4 Def / 80 SpA / 252 Spe , the spread allow you to OHKO Keldeo after rocks and to outspeed Timid Zam and to tie with other Tornadus-T.

For Bisharp, Manaphy + Jolly EQ Altaria beat it. For Rotom-W, Raikou can be used as soft check to him, thanks to leftovers + calm mind which allow him to don't take too much from Rotom-W, just try to don't give him free turns

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

Hope i helped :pirate:

Ty, I will try your suggestions and later I give you a feedback.

Yo,

I think this team would work better with a Magnezone on it somewhere, but AltZone seems to be every Altaria team at the moment, so I'll try to make suggestions without including Magnezone on the team.

Firstly, I'd suggest changing Excadrill for Scizor. Scizor can still provide hazard removal, and a reliable switchin to Fairies, whilst also being a reliable switchin to Weavile, and Kyurem-B I foresee this team struggling vs them otherwise. Scizor also gets U-Turn, and can be used to get initiative to Manaphy, or Altaria to get a turn of setup.

Next, I'd suggest changing Raikou out for Rotom-W. Rotom gives you a better switchin to Azumarill, and Talonflame, as well as a way to spread burns. Altaria particularly loves the support of Will-o-Wisp, as it allows it to wear down Pokemon such as Venusaur, Scizor, and Skarmory much more easily.

A few set changes. Tornadus-T's spread should be a bit more bulky, as it is your main switchin to Gengar, Alakazam, and Keldeo, it would appreciate a bit of extra bulk. I'll list the spread below. Also, I've added Iron Tail on this Tornadus because I can see the team struggles a bit with HP Fire Diancie, and Iron Tail Torn-T is a nice way to check/lure it. Secondly, Manaphy's first slash should be HP Fire. The ability to lure Steels, namely Ferrothorn, and Scizor is particularly important to support Altaria, and in thie particular team setting is far more important than Rain Dance. Lastly, your Garchomp should have more SpDef investment. The team is a little weak to Thundurus, and Charizard Y. Bolstering Garchomp's SpDef can help remedy this, and you don't need a lot of invesment.

P.S. Thunder Wave > Pain Split on Rotom can also be used. This team appears to struggle a little vs some set up sweepers. So that could be something you could try.
tl;dr
