Hello All,
This is my first attempt at building on an RMT but I really need a second (or third) opinion of this team
Nova (Charizard-Mega-X) (F) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
Ok, so I've decided to build around mega charizard X because it recently dropped to A+ in the ORAS OU viability rankings and wanted to give it a go to see what has changed for it in the meta. This is a kind of hybrid sweeper, lure, and wallbreaker pokemon for this team. Adamant nature is used so that I can 2HKO incoming azumarill with flare blitz after rocks as that is the biggest issue for my team. The goal of this mon is to break through teams excadrill checks such as rotom-w, azumarill, mew, mega sableye, skarmory, mega scizor, ferrothorn, etc. This allows me to sweep myself or allow exca to clean
Guacamole (Excadrill) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
The next member of my team is excadrill. Excadrill allows my team to have a fast cleaner to dispose of weakened teams after other members have worn down or beaten its checks and counters. it also provides Xard with hazards, acts as a check to clefable and allows me a way to 1v1 opposing Stall Breaker Talonflame which otherwise gives this team the work. As for the Set, I run enough speed to outspeed opposing adamant drills in the sand, as well as opposing speed creeping excadrill in the sand (don't call me paranoid :p). Like said previously, this is a great cleaner (as sand is really good now) and I have had great success using it.
Moto Moto (Hippowdon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
Hippowdon is the next member of the team and is valuable because it is able to check physical and special attackers alike. Slack off gives it staying power, earthquake gives it a powerful stab move, whirlwind gives me the ability to phaze out setup sweepers, and finally, stealth rock gives nice support to break sashes (even if sand is not up) and weaken things like azumarill enough to allow xard and exca to break through teams and clean.
Solid (Serperior) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Giga Drain
Serperior is important to this team because it breaks through bulky waters and grounds that Xard and Drill struggle with. Leaf storm is a necessity because it is a strong stab move that allows serp to set up, dragon pulse is for good neutral coverage after you set up and it also hits dragons such as Xard and Lati for good damage as they would wall you otherwise. Since heatran is not much of a problem for this team, hidden power fire is used to hit the likes of magnezone, ferrothorn, and (mega) scizor. Because this is a pseudo sand team and in addition to taking sand damage, I will also be taking life orb recoil, Giga drain is used to keep serp healthy in order for it to live a +6 aqua jet from a belly drum azu.
Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Electric]
This team really struggles with all variants of landorus-t (but mostly scarf) and due to its recent resurgence of usage, I needed a good check to it. Scarf ensures I will outspeed all variants of choice scarf lando. because I am not specs, I am not going to bother running ice coverage as it wont hit the laties hard enough. Instead, I am running hp electric to hit starmie, slowbro, and non mega gyarados (which this team has issues with if it has set up a DD). The rest of this moveset is pretty standard with scald to wear down checks, secret sword to deal with fast offensive threats like weavile, and hydro to hit as hard as possible because scarf sets are relatively weak.
Din (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
Clefable is the final pokemon for the team. it acts as the status absorber for the team. T-wave provides nice support for dealing with the likes of heatran, talon, and ZardY. The spread is the standard magic guard spread as I don't take sand damage. Finally, this set's mixed bulk allows me to take on things such as Kyube, mega lop, mega zam, the laties, etc. and Calm Mind gives clefable to be a bulky win con that can easily dismantle opposing teams if they are unprepared.
Thank in advance for any suggestions!
