ORAS OU Xard in Sand RMT

Hello All,
This is my first attempt at building on an RMT but I really need a second (or third) opinion of this team
latest

Nova (Charizard-Mega-X) (F) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Dragon Dance

Ok, so I've decided to build around mega charizard X because it recently dropped to A+ in the ORAS OU viability rankings and wanted to give it a go to see what has changed for it in the meta. This is a kind of hybrid sweeper, lure, and wallbreaker pokemon for this team. Adamant nature is used so that I can 2HKO incoming azumarill with flare blitz after rocks as that is the biggest issue for my team. The goal of this mon is to break through teams excadrill checks such as rotom-w, azumarill, mew, mega sableye, skarmory, mega scizor, ferrothorn, etc. This allows me to sweep myself or allow exca to clean

Guacamole (Excadrill) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

The next member of my team is excadrill. Excadrill allows my team to have a fast cleaner to dispose of weakened teams after other members have worn down or beaten its checks and counters. it also provides Xard with hazards, acts as a check to clefable and allows me a way to 1v1 opposing Stall Breaker Talonflame which otherwise gives this team the work. As for the Set, I run enough speed to outspeed opposing adamant drills in the sand, as well as opposing speed creeping excadrill in the sand (don't call me paranoid :p). Like said previously, this is a great cleaner (as sand is really good now) and I have had great success using it.

Moto Moto (Hippowdon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off

Hippowdon is the next member of the team and is valuable because it is able to check physical and special attackers alike. Slack off gives it staying power, earthquake gives it a powerful stab move, whirlwind gives me the ability to phaze out setup sweepers, and finally, stealth rock gives nice support to break sashes (even if sand is not up) and weaken things like azumarill enough to allow xard and exca to break through teams and clean.

Solid (Serperior) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Giga Drain

Serperior is important to this team because it breaks through bulky waters and grounds that Xard and Drill struggle with. Leaf storm is a necessity because it is a strong stab move that allows serp to set up, dragon pulse is for good neutral coverage after you set up and it also hits dragons such as Xard and Lati for good damage as they would wall you otherwise. Since heatran is not much of a problem for this team, hidden power fire is used to hit the likes of magnezone, ferrothorn, and (mega) scizor. Because this is a pseudo sand team and in addition to taking sand damage, I will also be taking life orb recoil, Giga drain is used to keep serp healthy in order for it to live a +6 aqua jet from a belly drum azu.

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Electric]

This team really struggles with all variants of landorus-t (but mostly scarf) and due to its recent resurgence of usage, I needed a good check to it. Scarf ensures I will outspeed all variants of choice scarf lando. because I am not specs, I am not going to bother running ice coverage as it wont hit the laties hard enough. Instead, I am running hp electric to hit starmie, slowbro, and non mega gyarados (which this team has issues with if it has set up a DD). The rest of this moveset is pretty standard with scald to wear down checks, secret sword to deal with fast offensive threats like weavile, and hydro to hit as hard as possible because scarf sets are relatively weak.

Din (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave

Clefable is the final pokemon for the team. it acts as the status absorber for the team. T-wave provides nice support for dealing with the likes of heatran, talon, and ZardY. The spread is the standard magic guard spread as I don't take sand damage. Finally, this set's mixed bulk allows me to take on things such as Kyube, mega lop, mega zam, the laties, etc. and Calm Mind gives clefable to be a bulky win con that can easily dismantle opposing teams if they are unprepared.

Thank in advance for any suggestions!

I like the team a lot actually! Your team is REALLY REALLY weak to Tornadus T.

Also try this EV spread on Adament Zard X.

Lizardon (Charizard-Mega-X) (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Also your Excadrill nickname is amazing!

Ehy nice Team! My advice is to replace Air Ballon>Life orb on
excadrill.png
because Charizard needs a lasting spinner that support and help you vs opposed Excadrill
Change the spread in jolly 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe for outspeed +2 Jolly Gyarados while in sand, and outrun neutral-natured base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Gardevoir without it.
Excadrill @ Air Ballon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Change the spread on
charizard-mega-x.png
in Jolly 72 HP / 184 Atk / 252 Spe for outspeed scarf
landorus-therian.png
after 1 DD.
EVs: Nova (Charizard-Mega-X) (F) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 72 HP / 184 Atk / 252 Spe
jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Dragon Dance

Other suggest is to use Thunderbol>T-Wave on
clefable.png
for help you vs
talonflame.png
,
charizard-mega-y.png
and
tornadus-therian.png
that is a problem for the team.
Din (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunderbolt

serperior.png
because opponed Serperior 6-0 your team lol and Keldeo is a weakness for your teamMaximum EV investment in HP alongside 4 Defense EVs allows Tangrowth to always avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Keldeo's Secret Sword, while the remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to better take special attacks. Assault Vest is used to boost Tangrowth's meager Special Defense to solid levels, allowing it to take powerful special attacks, most notably Manaphy's Ice Beam after a Tail Glow boost and Latios's Draco Meteor, in a pinch.
Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Sludge Bob
- Hidden Power Fire

TEAM COMPLETE:
Excadrill @ Air Ballon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Sludge Bob
- Hidden Power Fire

Din (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunderbolt

EVs: Nova (Charizard-Mega-X) (F) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 72 HP / 184 Atk / 252 Spe
jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Dragon Dance

Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Moto Moto (Hippowdon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off

hope help you and gl with the team! :)

Thanks everyone for the tips. While torn does annoy this team, hippo or exca in the sand threatens it and clef or xard can set up on it. For xard, I want to keep the adamant nature to lure azumarill and because I have scarf keld for lando. I like the spread of 144 hp/ 252 Att/ and 112 speed as I set up on mega man, have options against Mega lop, mega aero, mega beedrill, and mega sceptile, and I can play around mega zam. As for exca, I like the Idea of air baloon and while I am not too concerned about running jolly for the zards because I have hippo, outspeeding mega gard is nice as nothing on my team can really switch in lol. Serp does destroy my team so I am going to switch to tangrowth like you pointed out and regen is nice because of sand damage. Finally, I am going to keep T-Wave on Clef because like I said, talon, ZardY, and torn, while annoying, can play around and t-wave cripples them all anyway.

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 84+ SpD Clefable: 348-411 (88.3 - 104.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Serperior: 247-291 (84.8 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
boh is a very weakness eh :/

hi

so this is a solid squad on a whole but there are a few optimizations. first off run Jolly > Adamant on Mega Charizard X. In today's metagame the extra speed really matters as it allows you to tie with a the base 100's before you dance and outrun a few Scarfers as well. Next on Excadrill shift the HP EV's back into Speed so you can at least tie with other Jolly Variants.

You should run Support Tyranitar > Hippowdon. Tyranitar's ability to Pursuit trap is incredibly helpful towards your team as it removes a lot of stuff like the Lati's and other annoying Psychics which is great support for both Mega Charizard X and Keldeo. A Chople Berry would be a solid investment if you'd so like to check Mega alakazam and the likes better. Like said before by Ezio opposing Serperior are extremely threatening to your team as well as other Keldeo. Other Sand Rush Excadrill are as well. To remedy this Assault Vest Tangrowth > Serperior is a solid option as you still take care of bulky waters through it and the support of teammates while not really missing anything as Clefable itself breaks stall efficiently. If you rather be a better check to Manaphy simple run Max HP / Max SpD.
Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock / Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

I share as mentioned before. But I did not understand why this spread on Tangrowth: his team is weak at Manaphy, and with this spreads Tangrowth is 2HKO by +3 Manaphy.

Yes but after 1 TG manaphy destroy this team. I think that Manaphy is a greater problem. Though Excadrill after SD is a problematic..
