[SET COMMENTS]
A great ability in Magic Bounce, coupled with a decent defensive typing, reliable recovery in Roost, good coverage moves, and access to U-turn and Teleport, makes Xatu excellent for hazard removal support as well as a terrific pivot. Magic Bounce lets Xatu bounce back any status move thrown towards it such as Stealth Rock, Toxic, and most notably Vileplume's Strength Sap and Salazzle's Toxic. Xatu is also able to use its typing and offensive coverage to check major offensive threats such as Choice Scarf Indeedee, Passimian, and Bewear. Xatu can completely wall common Stealth Rock users like Mudsdale and Steelix, as well as Rhydon if it chooses to utilize Grass Knot. Heat Wave is used to melt Steel-types, most notably Copperajah, which can otherwise force it out with its powerful STAB move and then proceed to set up Stealth Rock. U-turn is a good, general-purpose pivot move that capitalizes on Xatu's ability to force out passive Pokemon, but Teleport's negative priority is highly useful for bringing in slower hard-hitting teammates. However, if threatening Steel-types isn't needed, Grass Knot can be used instead to threaten Rhydon with an OHKO along with hitting Mudsdale harder than any of Xatu's other moves. Rocky Helmet is used to punish contact moves like Steelix's Heavy Slam. 60 Speed EVs are used to outrun Jolly Bewear. The remaining EVs are put into Defense with a Bold nature to better check physical attackers such as Passimian, Bewear, and Rillaboom. An alternative EV spread of 248 HP / 56 Def / 144 SpD / 60 Spe with a Calm nature can be used to better check Indeedee and Salazzle while avoiding the 2HKO from Steelix's Heavy Slam.

Electric-type switch-ins make for great partners, as Vikavolt and Galvantula are free to set Sticky Web against Xatu due to forcing it out with their Electric-type STAB moves. Steelix and Snorlax are not only great answers to such Pokemon but also great partners in general. Steelix can set Stealth Rock and possesses an Electric immunity, while Xatu assists Steelix in checking Indeedee. Snorlax can check Alolan Raichu as well as other powerful special attackers that can trouble Xatu, such as Drampa, Rotom-Mow, and Vanilluxe. Xatu struggles against Rhydon if not carrying Grass Knot, so it appreciates the presence of ally Ground- and Grass-types that can take them on, such as Vileplume, Mudsdale, and Virizion. Dark-types are immune to Psychic and can deal high damage with their STAB attacks, so Fairy- and Fighting-type teammates such as Silvally-Fairy, Bewear, and Passimian are appreciated by Xatu. Slow wallbreakers like Bewear and Drampa pair well with Xatu when running Teleport, being able to bring them in safely.

Xatu's Magic Bounce ability; coupled with a decent defensive typing, reliable recovery in Roost, vast coverage good coverage moves, and two great pivot moves in U-turn and Teleport access to U-turn and Teleport makes Xatu excellent for anti-hazard support as well as a terrific pivot. Magic Bounce lets Xatu bounce back any status move thrown towards it such as Stealth Rock, Toxic, and notably Vileplume's Strength Sap and Salazzle's Corrosion Toxic. Xatu is also able to use its typing and offensive coverage to check major offensive threats such as Indeedee, Calm Mind Virizion, and Salazzle. Depending on the coverage choice, Xatu can threaten the prominent Stealth Rock users in Steelix, Rhydon, and Mudsdale; only losing to more obscure options like Alolan Dugtrio, Piloswine, and Golurk. with Heat Wave and Grass Knot. Xatu can completely wall common Stealth Rock users in Mudsdale and Steelix, as well as Rhydon if it chooses to utilize Grass Knot. Psyshock is the main STAB option as it prevents Xatu from being used as setup fodder by Calm Mind Virizion, meanwhile Psychic secures the OHKO on Salazzle and does more to Bewear. (Psyshock isn't as good as Psychic since it can't 2HKO standard Vileplume, and is just stronger overall. Also, primary STAB usually doesn't get a sentence in preview analyses.) Heat Wave melts is used to melt Steel-types, notably Escavalier and Copperajah, who can otherwise force it out with their powerful STAB moves and then proceed to set up Swords Dance or Stealth Rock respectively. and more precisely hits Copperajah who otherwise freely sets up Stealth Rock. Grass Knot threatens Rhydon with an OHKO as well as hitting Mudsdale harder (This entire section is heavily compressed and has been moved to later in the paragraph.) while still doing sufficient damage to Steelix. Grass Knot can either be used over Heat Wave or Psychic STAB. The former is recommended as the later should only be used if your team is extremely weak to Escavalier. U-turn is preferred as it dents Indeedee and Alolan Raichu, and it allows Xatu to pivot out against slower threats like Rhydon meanwhile U-turn is a good, general-purpose pivot move that capitalizes on Xatu's ability to force out passive Pokemon, but Teleport's negative priority is highly useful for bringing in slower, hard-hitting teammates. However, if pivoting utility isn't needed, Grass Knot can be taken instead to threaten Rhydon with an OHKO along with hitting Mudsdale harder than any of Xatu's other moves. Rocky Helmet is used to chip down the opponent. Colbur Berry is used to more easily take Dark-type attacks from the Pokemon that Xatu is used to check, such as Knock Off from Passimian and (include another example or two). Rocky Helmet can also be used to further punish contact attackers, but makes Xatu much more vulnerable to stray Dark-type attacks. The defense EVs allow Xatu to avoid the 2HKO from Steelix's Heavy Slam as well as and Choice Specs Indeedee's Psyshock. The speed is 60 Speed EVs are used to outrun Jolly Bewear. The rest is thrown in as remaining EVs are put into special defense Defense with a Calm Bold nature to better check Choice Scarf Indeedee and Salazzle as Xatu avoids the 2HKO from Hyper Voice respective Sludge Wave. physical attackers like (example, example, and example).

While Xatu does a great job keeping hazards off the field; it's not perfect and appreciates the help of other hazard removers. Defog Charizard enjoys Grass Knot Xatu dealing with Rhydon. Silvally-Fairy is a defogger that covers Xatu's Dark-type weakness. (Xatu doesn't need additional hazard control, it IS the hazard control. None of these sentences are necessary.) Electric-type checks/counters switchins make for great partners as Vikavolt and Galvantula are free to set up Sticky Web as they force Xatu out with their Electric-type STAB. Steelix, Snorlax, and Coalossal (pick a more relevant example) are great answers but also great partners in general (why?). Steelix can set up Stealth Rock, is possesses (word choice) an Electric immunity, and appreciates Xatu taking the burden of checking Indeedee assists Xatu in checking Indeedee. Snorlax is an Ice resist, checks Alolan Raichu, and helps Xatu with checking Salazzle. Snorlax can check Alolan Raichu, as well as other powerful special attackers that can trouble Xatu, like (example and example.) Coalossal is a Salazzle counter that cherishes Xatu being able to pivot into Salazzle's Toxic. It also can Rapid Spin, and is an Ice-resist. (Coalossal sucks.) Rhydon is troublesome without Grass Knot and therefore Vileplume, Mudsdale, and Virizion are great teammates. (Reword this to something along the lines of "Xatu struggles against Rock-types if not carrying Grass Knot, so it appreciates the presence of ally Ground- and Grass-types that can take them on, such as Vileplume, Mudsdale, and Virizion." Knock Off, and in general Dark-type, switch-ins such as the aforementioned Silvally-Fairy, Vileplume, Weezing, and Virizion, are needed as Dark-types takes very little damage from Xatu outside of U-turn. (Reword this to something along the lines of "Dark-types are immune to Psychic and can deal high damage with their STAB attacks, so Fairy- and Fighting-type teammates such as Silvally-Fairy, Bewear, and Passimian are appreciated by Xatu.") Slow wallbreakers like Bewear, Drampa, and Escavalier pairs well with Teleport, Xatu thanks to Xatu being able to bringing them in safely. Bewear and Escavalier are also notable teammates for abusing Dark-types like Silvally-Dark, Scrafty, and Malamar for trying to switch into Xatu. (folded into the previous sentence.)

GoldCat change the set to what I corrected it to, please. I'll give 1/2 when it's done. changing the set to match what's worded in the analysis is paramount.

Mavis The set already matches the analysis. I obviously didn't add any text that had to do with the set change. We'll have to discuss the set later on discord because I want to hear the reasoning as I'm struggling a bit to find truly noteworthy advantages with Phys Def. Xatu.

QC discussed it and the set needs to be physically defensive.

Removed all mentions of Escavalier, and I've made the set Phys def. I added the sp.def spread as an alternative.

Ready for the second QC.
