[OVERVIEW]
  • Xurkitree is a strong wallbreaker which breaks through the bulkiest mon like chansey or ferrothorn.
  • It sweeps teams using the Z-Hypnosis. Only when it actually hits Hypnosis. It becomes threatening but when it misses, especially against something that can OHKO it, it pretty much goes nowhere.
  • Painful to use due to weak defensive stats, needs a lot of defensive support.
  • It can't switch into any attack because of its frailness and can be revenge killed easily.
  • It can sweep against teams using its Beast Boost but it still needs a lot of offensive support.
[SET]
name: Z Hypnosis Sweeper
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Hypnosis
move 3: Grassknot
move 4: Tail Glow
item: Psychium- Z
ability: Beast Boost
nature: Modest
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Holding Psychium-Z, Hypnosis boosts its Speed by one stage and may put the opposing Pokemon asleep.
  • Thunderbolt is the strongest STAB move of it.
  • Grass Knot hits ground types especially groudon primal and arceus-ground which are immune to thunderbolt.
  • Tail Glow boosted Thunderbolt and other coverage moves will damage more defensive teams heavily.
Set Details
========
  • Modest has better way rolls against 252 HP Arceus, Groudon, Excadrill, and Ferrothorn.
  • Xurkitree is fast enough to outspeed Mega Gengar and Mewtwo at +1 with 252 Spe.
Usage Tips
========
  • It is a pack of surprise which can breakthrough opponent's guard and is recommended not to use until the end of the game.
  • When the opponent switches then using z-hypnosis allows this mon to get its speed raised by 1 stage while also having 60% chance to put the opposing pokemon into sleep. Every kill boosts its Special Attack by one stage.
  • If you manage to force a switch on the turn you use Z-Hypnosis, you get two chances to try and sleep the enemy which can make the setup have a higher chance of success.
  • Pokemon which have mutual checks and counters benefit from this immensely, as their main switchin will be removed.
  • Force out things that will die to Thunderbolt like slow Arceus-Water or Bulky Ho-Oh/Kyogre.
  • Weaken its checks and counters by bringing them near to it and hitting them with its attack.
  • Xurkitree should be switched on non attacking moves like or moves which 2HKO or more.
  • First remove all the counters of this mons from the battle and then only use it as a sweeper.
Team Options
========
  • Ground immunities like Bronzong help deal with its only weakness in case of a misspredict with Thunderbolt.
  • It requires a lot of defensive support because of its weak stats so using bulky water-types like Toxapex , ground-types like Landorus-T , Groudon Primal and grass types like Ferrothorn can tank its weakness.
  • Hazard support is useful, Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes brings bulk specially defensive mons like blissey in range of getting fainted my Xurkitree and thus beast boost.
  • Memento users like Dugtrio , Whimsicott and Alola-Muk makes it easier for Xurkitree to set up and sweep.
  • U-turn support from pokemons like Lando-T, Yveltal or Mega Scizor gives you a good momentum as it gives you a free switch.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]Other Options
=============
  • Hypnosis/Electric Terrain + Tail Glow with BoltBeam coverage as the Double Dance set can be used, but is dangerous with only 60% chance to hit.
  • Life Orb can be used on the Tail Glow set instead of Z-Item, to boost attacks or longevity respectively, with the price of missing hypnosis.
  • Dazzling Gleam or HP Fire is usable. The former hits dragon types and HP Fire hits Ferrothorn.
Checks and Counters
===================
  • **Ground-types**: Ground types can switch into Electric attacks, causing a loss of momentum. Dugtrio can trap and OHKO it. Zygarde is usually RestTalk so it can often just come in anyway.
  • **Dragon-types**: Dialga and Giratina-O survive +3 TBolt and OHKO with Draco Meteor. Arceus-Dragon can't OHKO with Judgment but it still does a lot and it tanks +3 TBolt.
  • Zekrom: Best check, 4x Electric resist + resists Grass Knot, easily OHKOes.
  • **Special Walls**: Specially Defensive mons like Chansey and Blissey and Ferrothorn can switch into unboosted attacks and beat it due to its weak defenses and no recovery options. Unaware Clefable stops Tail Glow Raikou dead in its tracks.
  • **Fast-mons**: Pokemons like Phermosa and other scarf mons like Landorus-T and Kyurem-W outspeed Xurkitree even at +1.
  • **Priority-Moves**: Ekiller and Rayquaza gets the oppurtunity to set up against it if its SpA isn't boosted and then spamming espeed. Yveltal's sucker punch too
  • **Passive Damage**: If running Life Orb, Xurkitree is vulnerable to being worn down rapidly. Even without Life Orb, repeated switching into Stealth Rock and Spikes, as well as burn and poison damage, will quickly take its toll on Xurkitree.

Alright:

Overview - Needs stronger mentions of one of Xurkitree's main cons - it cannot always set up reliably due to Hypnosis's poor accuracy. Should also mention explicitly how Z-Hypnosis is able to let Xurkitree sweep (aka fixes its mediocre Speed and gives it a chance to use Tail Glow which when combined with 173 SpA will let it kill almost everything).

Set name should probably just be Z-Hypnosis Sweeper. Grass Knot is two words. Mention that the sleep from Hypnosis will give Xurkitree a needed chance to set up Tail Glow since its low defenses mean it can't really take a hit.

Main change of the set: switch nature to Modest. Modest has better way rolls against 252 HP Arceus, Groudon, Excadrill, and Ferrothorn and still makes Xurkitree fast enough to outspeed Mega Gengar and Mewtwo at +1. The only reason to use Timid is to beat Rash Deoxys-A who can just opt to use Extreme Speed for a lot of damage, so Timid isn't really worth it imo.

Usage tips needs to be reworked. It should primarily emphasize how to try and set this up. An idea is to try and force out things that will die to Thunderbolt like slow Arceus-Water or Bulky Ho-Oh/Kyogre. If you manage to force a switch on the turn you use Z-Hypnosis, you get two chances to try and sleep the enemy which can make the setup have a higher chance of success. Xurkitree should also try to switch in on doubles/non attacking moves since most attacks will O/2HKO it. Mentioning it should be saved until late-game so its counters can be chipped first is good though.

Team Options: Do not mention stuff like Mantine (unviable), Flygon or Toxapex (too passive). The main support options should be: hazards, Ground/Dialga/Ferrothorn checks, U-turn support from something like Lando-T/Yveltal/Mega Scizor to try and get a free switch. I would not mention using Electric spam since Electric Spam is not defensively secure at all.

OO can be streamlined to just Life Orb/Dazzling Gleam/HP Fire imo. Choice items do not work on this mon so dont bother imo. Electric Terrain probably isnt worth it.

C&C needs to be way more specific overall:

Zekrom: Best check, 4x Electric resist + resists Grass Knot, easily OHKOes
Ground-types: Zygarde-C, Excadrill in Sand, fully SDef PDon, Groundceus. If push comes to shove they can swap into Xurkitree and hope for miss or first turn wake. Zygarde is usually RestTalk so it can often just come in anyway.
Dragon-types: Dialga and Giratina-O survive +3 TBolt and OHKO with Draco Meteor. Arceus-Dragon can't OHKO with Judgment but it still does a lot and it tanks +3 TBolt.
Ferrothorn: Survives +3 TBolt and can Leech Seed, but if it lacks Power Whip it can't really stop Xurk from getting to +6 and blowing through it.
Clefable: Avoids the 2HKO from TBolt and Unaware renders Tail Glow useless, Toxic stalls
Blissey/Chansey: They can Toxic Xurk but can't beat Xurk one-on-one, though they will likely chip it enough to stop its sweep.
Fast Revenge Killers: Deoxys-A, Pheromosa, most Scarfers esp Landorus-T and Lunala
Priority moves: Yveltal, Rayquaza, EKiller

There needs to be specific mention of how volatile this Pokemon is. When it actually hits Hypnosis, it is very threatening. When it misses, especially against something that can OHKO it, it pretty much goes nowhere. I would mention this in the overview and consider it fair to call this a cheese mon. In usage tips talk about when to finally bring this Pokemon in and click z hypnosis (think against things that can't heavily damage you or things you outspeed).

In team options remove Mantine, Flygon, and Bronzong. I would never consider any of those mons when building with Xurktree since this mon's best niche is on offense. Honestly kinda curious how you would get this Pokemon to work with Tapu Koko, and if you can't provide a good explanation as to how you would create a solid team starting with those two mons, this mention should be removed. Same logic applies to Zekrom. Instead I want to see staple offensive partners suggested here. Remove Leftovers mention in OO, idk why you would ever forgo Psychium Z for lefties on a mon that is 2HKOed by pretty much everything anyway. Life Orb is mentioned twice, so fix this. Remove "strong attacks" from checks and counters as that is not a Pokemon.

Also, Fireburn's changes haven't been fully implemented properly. So go through those again.

Fix these things and I will stamp later.

Edited.

Fireburn's check still wasn't implemented properly. Bronzong is still in team options instead of Ground immunes that work on offense. Fix these things please.

So this was actually an oversight on our part, but it would seem you still have Toxapex outstanding: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/toxapex-qc-1-3.3588631/

Non-badgeholders without special permission can't have more than one analysis in QC at a time due to quality concerns, and because it seems like my check still isn't properly implemented, QC has decided after a discussion on Discord to veto this analysis so you can focus on completing the one you still have.

I apologize that we did not catch this sooner.
