XY OU (beta) My first competitive Pokemon team

Hi there everyone, I'm very new to Pokemon Competitive battling, but I've tried to lurk at at least read up on good sets before I tried to put a team together, I've had some sucess on sims, but sometimes I do crash and burn pretty bad.

I've tried to read up on team basic, balancing Physical and Special sweepers, making sure to have bulkier Pokemon, as well as mons that have important support moves, entry hazards, a spinner, etc.

Without further waiting, here is my team:

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Shadow Sneak
- King's Shield

I use my Aegislash as a bulky physical attacker. I try to set up Swords Dance when I can, since I've went with Relaxed Nature as opposed to Brave, I try to King's shield to revert forms when I'm predicting a big hit or so I can dance between forms between attacks. Shadow Sneak is for STAB and priority. I've been thinking about taking out Iron Head for Sacred Sword, but it might be redundant on my team due to a lot of fighting moves on my team. I've heard good things about Head Smash, maybe I should try that.

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Endeavor
- Ice Shard

This Mamoswine is built to be fairly bulky so it can live long enough to get rocks up and maybe Earthquake some stuff. I have it Sashed to be annoying with Endeavor, and still get rocks up if they bring in a check/counter. Earthquake and Ice Shard for the STABs I took. Ice Shard is nice to get priority because Mamoswine is slow

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse

Blastoise is my Rapid Spinner, but also, coincidentally, my Mega. it's to be a bulky spinner with special sweeping to break through spinblockers or to sweep when spin isn't needed. Scald for when I wanna try for the burn, and Aura Sphere and Dark Pulse for coverage. Spinning takes priority, though, unless Blastoise needs to kill a Spin blocker.

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Dark Pulse

My Hydreigon I use as a fast Specs user. I use Draco Meteor and Dark Pulse for stab, and grab Fire Blast and Focus Blast for coverage. He's generally the only real answer to Dragon types I have as often I just switch into Hydreigon and hope I can drop a meteor on the enemy dragon before they kill me. with Fire Blast, he is also what I use in lieu of an actual Fire type and seems to be my best hope against Scizor. Hydreigon's Focus Blast is also the best shot I have at blowing through Chancey and Blissey.

Roserade_NB.gif

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Rest

Roserade is generally my lead. It tries to bulky enough to get up Spikes and Toxic Spikes, while still hopefully being fast enough to use Giga Drain or get off a Rest if it's in trouble. I use Natural Cure to shake off enemy status, for example to safely switch this in when the opponent has Toxic Spikes of their own up. It's specially bulky in order to get spikes up and to heal up with the two recovery moves.

Shiny_Mienshao.gif

Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance/Fake Out???? (had no idea what a good 4th move is.)

Mienshao is my Physical Scarf user. I use U-Turn for the flexibility and for synergizing it with Regenerator, High Jump Kick for STAB, Stone Edge for coverage v.s. Flyers, but I was never sure on the last move, I wasn't sure about being locked into Swords Dance, so I just took another physical move. Maybe Acrobatics would be nice for a flying move? I like running Renegerator because it can make up for a missed High Jump Kick or taking damage if I can switch it out.

Things I struggle with:

Generally speaking, I do lose a lot, but a lot of times I seem to make big misplays, like thinking Mienshao can KO a flying type w/ Stone Edge but I get Brave Birded for being stupid, or trying to spin or set up hazards or Swords Dance when it isn't safe.

But, if I were to think of any particular pokemon that give me trouble.

Talonflame

I've lost to Talonflame a LOT. I think I can KO Talonflame with Mienshao w/ Stone Edge and get outsped and Brave Birded. Sometime I can force a switch with Blastoise if it's still alive, but some Talonflames hit so hard not even Mega Blastoise will live long. it completely stops Roserade and can also do a number on Mamoswine.

Fairy-types in general
I don't know what to do when I have to face a Fairy-type, really.

Vaporeon and Chansey/Blissey

I am walled incredibly hard by these pokemon, With Chansey and Blissey I have some decent answers to it, but I find that I have to either Aura Sphere or Focus Blast them, as Mienshao really, REALLY struggles to KO them. As for Vaporeon I don't really think I have a legitimate answer to it, Roserade's Giga Drain may not be able to outdamage Wish.

There are probably much much more besides this list, but there you have it.
