XY Psychic Monotype

Psychic has always been one of my favorite types (although grass types are pretty cool too, looking at you Cradily and Ludicolo), so I decided to make a monotype! Bolded text is what I am unsure about.
Team:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Taunt Explosion

I've always loved to use Azelf as a lead. Some might say it's outdated, but it works rather well for me. Fire Blast is to score surprise KOs on Ferrothorn and Scizor, while preventing the former from setting up. Stealth Rock for hazard support, Knock off to harm switch-ins and as utility. Max speed so I can outspeed other leads, and more HP is always nice. I'm not sure if Taunt is good on here or not, so... yeah.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers Gardevoirite
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 SDef SpD / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Timid Nature
- Encore
- Will-O-Wisp
- Destiny Bond
- Moonblast Hyper Voice

Some might question why I would use Gardevoir without a Mega Stone, but again, there is a great move pool. Some might believe that this stall breaker set is outclassed by Gengar who has higher speed and a different typing, but Gardevoir has it's own advantages. It is a bit bulkier physically, and much more bulky specially, has a STAB move more powerful than Shadow Ball (that can also lower SpA 1 stage 30% of the time) (that can pass through subs), and Encore.

Gallade (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Steadfast Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance Power Up Punch
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Night Slash

Gallade is one of only five psychic types that learn swords dance. Arceus Psychic is actually locked away into Ubers, so that makes four. Gallade has the highest attack stat of all these as well as the highest special defense. The others are Celebi, Exeggutor, and Mew, if you wanted to know. This is a bulky set, to make the most of Gallade's natural special bulk. Fighting/Dark is awesome neutral coverage, and psycho cut is decent STAB, but a bit weak and I may put ice punch in instead. Power Up Punch also boosts attack while dealing damage, but you probably already know that.

Deoxys-Speed @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP Spd/ 4 Spd HP
Modest Nature
- Trick
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam

Deoxys S is really underrated offensively. A choice specs gives it respectable power, and if there are bulky pokemon in it's way such as boosted Clefable or Chansey, it can just trick it's specs away and cripple a threat. This has serious 4 moveslot syndrome, as you can put ice beam, shadow ball, hidden power fire, charge beam, knock off, extreme speed, (yes I know those last two are physical), thunderbolt... you get the point.

Alakazam-Mega @ Alakazite Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Disable
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind

I think Alakazam has a lot of potential besides just offense, and this shows it. You may already know SubDisable Gengar, but Alakazam Mega outclasses it in every stat except HP (by 5 points) and Attack (15 points, but not relevant anyway has higher special attack, special defense, and speed. Calm Mind lets him become more of a threat, but leaves him vulnerable to dark types and there are support moves such as encore available.

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Wish Recover Roost Moonlight (wrong move lol)
- Thunder Wave
- Reflect

Cresselia is really bulky. Don't forget that. Seriously. 120/120/130. This makes it great for with support, and it has so many support options I don't know what to do. Ice Beam gets surprise hits on Dragons etc., Thunder Wave cripples fast threats like Greninja, and Reflect helps the fact that psychic types often have low defense.

So, there's my team! Make sure to reply or my Pokemon will have to control your mind and force you too! Just kidding, but please do.

Hey RP2865, and welcome to the Monotype Tier.

This Tier is all about overcoming your weaknesses while exposing that of the other Teams. Mono Psychic Team's in particular are blessed with natural Bulk, good Coverage Moves, several powerhouses, and just about every Role it needs to pull off different play-styles. That said, let's lay out the Weaknesses of Mono Dark Teams in general and see how your team deals with them, and take the rate from there:
  • Mono Dark Teams: The first and most obvious Weakness Psychic has typing wise is Dark. Dark Types have access to powerful STAB Moves by Greninja, Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Bisharp, and etc, while having Umbreon, Mandibuzz, and Sableye to Wall/Stallbreak, respectively.
    • Greninja:
    • Bisharp:
    • Tyranitar:
    • Hydreigon:
    • Mandibuzz:
    • Sableye:
      • Knock Off: It's extremely hard for Mono Psychic Teams to Switch Into this Move in particular without sacrificing either a Pokemon or an Item, while few solid pivots exist.
  • Mono Bug Teams: Mono Bug Teams can slam you with their STABs, applying constant pressure to Psychic Teams; outside of Trick Room, saving yourself from this onslaught is difficult due to Sticky Web.
    • Heracross (Scarf): An extremely powerful Bug Type that can choose between it's STAB or Knock Off to murder your Team, while by passing it's low Speed with Galv's Sticky Web; after scoring an inevitable KO, it can guarantee that neither Slowbro nor anything else will be stopping it from Sweeping your Team due to Moxie.
    • Galvantula: This Pokemon is especially dangerous as it has access to Sticky Web and STAB Bug Buzz.
    • Pinsir-Mega: Pinsir-Mega's combination of natural Bulk, odd yet above average Speed Tier, and access to Swords Dance all make it capable of Sweeping your Team, while also capable of breaking down Psychic's Walls so that it or it's Teammates may Sweep.
    • Yanmega: With access to all the right Moves in Bug Buzz, Giga Drain, and Air Slash, Yanmega along with it's Speed Boost Ability make it a formidable Sweep that's hard to Revenge outside of Priority.
    • Scizor/Scizor-Mega: Different than it's bretheren in that it's slow, that makes it no less Threatening- it's just as capable of a Sweeper as Pinsir-Mega as it also has access to Swords Dance, but what makes it dangerous is it's Priority Move in Bullet Punch, which allows it to Revenge your Sweepers, and Knock Off if you so much as dare escape it, while Roosting off any Attack [bar Fire] that you throw at it laughingly.
      • Sticky Web: This entry hazard can be a bane to any Mono Psychic Team as it allows slower, but dangerous Sweepers such as Scarf Heracross get past Scarf-Revenging.
  • Set Up Sweepers: Psychic is rather sparse in the Phazing/Hazing departement, relying on constant Switch In momentum and Status to take care of Set Up Sweepers. However, if left to their doings, Set Up Sweepers in general can burst though your Walls and the Team as a whole.
  • Bulky Steel Types: Bulky Steel Types can be problematic in the ways mentioned above and much more without the right Move to KO them.
All of the above as well as what options you have are key points you must consider while Teambuilding. Now that we've identified exactly what those are, let's analyze your Team based of that:

Psychic has always been one of my favorite types (although grass types are pretty cool too, looking at you Cradily and Ludicolo), so I decided to make a monotype! Bolded text is what I am unsure about.
Team:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Taunt > Explosion

I think Taunt may be needed here to Anti-Lead and shut down Galvantula who attempt to set Sticky Web on your side of the field.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers Gardevoirite
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Spd
Bold
Nature
- Encore > Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Destiny Bond > Shadow Ball
- Moonblast Hyper Voice

Gardevoir's unique Fairy/Psychic Typing along with the fact that it is a Mega Pokemon make it one of the few Pokes on Mono Psychic that can stomach Knock Off. This in combination with it's access to WoW make it a capable Switch Into Bisharp's Knock Off, where it can come in at full health, and knock it out with Hyper Voice. The 108 Spd EVs are there to outspeed Adamant Bisharp, while the rest are invested in Bulk.

Deoxys-Speed @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 236 Spd / 252 SAtk / 20 Atk
Naive Nature
- Psycho Boost
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Superpower

Although the added power of Specs is nice, the fact that you'll in result have such a frail, Priority Weak Pokemon locked into one Move is a bad situation that will 9 times out of 10 will outweigh the advantages of the Specs. That said, I suggest replacing it with a Life Orb, which gives you both power and the option to Switch Moves. The Moves should be fairly straight forward: use the excellent Coverage of BoltBeam to Revenge, while nuking the shit you can't with Psycho Boost or Superpower.

Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Substitute > Shadow Ball/Focus Blast
- Disable > Dazzling Gleam
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind > Energy Ball

The previous Set looked really evil, lol I'd hate to play that. However when it loses the surprise factor, SubDisable Alakzam suddenly becomes the same, frail Special Attacker it once was, except now it lacks the Coverage to really put that Special Attack to use- it's completely Walled by Dark and Steel Types, which is makes Calm Mind somewhat redundant. I suggest playing it to it's only strength, and using it as the fantastic Revenge Killer that it was designed to be.

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Bold Nature
- Ice Beam
- Wish Recover Roost Moonlight (wrong move lol)
- Thunder Wave
- Reflect

^

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Grass Knot
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off

Instead of using Cresselia as a pivot, I suggest using Slowbro. It has longer longevity despite it's insuperior raw Stats due to Regenerator, while it's Typing and massive Defense Stat allow it to Check many Treats; even Bug Types! It essentially does the same thing, but better, imo.

Now, your have an answer to Sticky Web in the form of Anti-Lead Azelf, an answer to powerful Physical Attackers in Slowbro (who has Regenerator), and an answer to Mono Dark Teams in the form of Gardevoir-Mega. Good luck, hope I helped!
