I have been playing the PU tier a lot recently and I decided to try out a weather team. The idea was based around using Swanna and Sneasel to put offensive pressure on enemy teams while also checking each others'
Viral (Sneasel) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off
- Low Kick
This was the first member of the team, who was chosen for his incredible offensive ability. His great offensive typing makes sure that almost nothing wants switch in on it. Knock Off lets you cripple most defensive walls that like to switch in on it
Nia (Swanna) (F) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Surf
- Roost
- Rain Dance
I chose Swanna to pair up with Sneasel as an offensive duo because swanna can take down huge threats such as Throh and Poliwrath. As I was looking through all the water pokemon in the tier I thought this would be an amazing pokemon for rain offense and so far the results have been good enough for me to use it over Pelliper or Mantine
Anti-Spiral (Barbaracle) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Razor Shell
- Stone Edge
- Shell Smash
Looking for a late game sweeper I decided to use this over Carracosta because its higher speed allow it to use Adamant over Jolly giving it more power overall Looking back at the results it brought, it can sweep teams when all else fails but the grass/electric weakness is really unappreciated because it hinders the ability to fight against fast electric pokemon.
Gimmy (Marshtomp) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Stealth Rock
- Rain Dance
Marhstomp has put in amazing work so far. It can beat almost any physical attacker 1v1 , setup Stealth Rocks, and can act as a secondary rain setup. The typing it has lets it handle powerful rock types that would destroy Sneasel and Swanna, and counter the 3 main electric types of the tier. It also has the capability of taking on Haunter and Kadabra 1v1. Marshtomp has been one of my most reliable team members and has definitely earned his spot on the team
Darry (Lumineon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Defog
- U-turn
- Tailwind
I chose Lumineon as my defogger because of its ability Storm Drain. This allows me to keep offensive water pokemon such as Basculin and Simpour from spamming their water STAB. Tailwind support allows Barbaracle and Swanna outspeed would be checks and hit hard with their stabs. U-Turn lets me get momentum.
Lordgenome (Haunter) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Trick
- Thunderbolt
Haunter is here to be a safe switch into grass pokemon, checks togetic, trick choice scarf onto pokemon that don't want to be lockd into a move. Thunderbolt handles water pokemon that people like use against you in the rain. Sludge Wave is your strongest stab move and checks fairies and grass types. Shadow Ball is there in case something resist sludge wave
