Ymerodraeth Griffin

What better for a first post than a display of my first competitive team? I present to you:

Ymerodraeth Griffin!
(You may applaud now.)

Cilsane (Galvantula) w/Focus Sash
CompoundEyes / Timid
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Energy Ball

Cilsane is the lead. Always. Focus Sash guarantees that Sticky Web will get out, and Bug Buzz clobbers any Espeon or Mega Absol that might try and Magic Bounce it away, as well as hitting through Whimsicott's Substitute. GOD I HATE WHIMSICOTT Thunder is good STAB coverage and rips through Skarmory and Aerodactyl, and Energy Ball is, well, a fourth move.

Carreg-Cennen (Azumarill) w/Choice Band
Huge Power / Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spe
- Aqua Tail
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Superpower

Carreg-Cennen is this team's physical powerhouse. A Banded Play Rough tears through just about everything that doesn't resist it, and Aqua Jet makes C-C an effective revenge killer, too. Aqua Tail smashes anything that can withstand a Jet, and though Superpower rarely sees use, when it does it destroys 'mons like Ferrothorn that resist C-C's STABs.

Twm o'r Gof (Dragonite) w/Assault Vest
Multiscale / Careful
EVs: 252 Atk/252 SpD/4 Spe
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- ThunderPunch

Specially defensive Dragonite? Sure, why not? Twm switches into special moves and hits things with his claws. He can hurt Fire- and Steel-types with Earthquake, I guess. Twm is generally the forgotten member of this team, even more so than...

Laugharne (Breloom) w/Toxic Orb
Poison Heal / Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SpD/252 Spe
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Swords Dance

Laugharne is... well, Breloom is my favorite Pokémon, and Grass-Fighting fits in well with the team composition, but Laugharne always seems the odd one out. Poison Heal is useful, but he can't really take many hits anyway, and Spore only affects one enemy. Mach Punch allows Laugharne to revenge kill, and Rock Tomb kills sleeping Talonflame, but there isn't much else going for Laugharne if he can't Spore-and-Dance.

Towy (Gengar) w/Life Orb
Levitate / Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast

Towy is the team's special opposite to Carreg-Cennen. Ball, Wave, Gleam, and Blast hit 11 types for super-effective damage, and Life Orb makes Towy a terror to face. Typing and ability render three types of moves ineffective, and the prominence of Earthquake and Fighting moves give Towy ample opportunity to switch in and start wreaking havoc.

Grongar (Heatran) w/Air Balloon
Flash Fire / Timid
EVs: 252 HP/4 SpA/252 Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Roar

I have seen many, many occasions of people attempting to use Earthquake or Earth Power on a floating Grongar and being thoroughly confused when it misses completely. Grongar burns things with WoW and then Roars them out to burn something else. Fire Blast murders M-Scizor and M-Venusaur and Earth Power deals with Ampharos and grounded Heatran.

This team is built around getting out Sticky Web and then pounding enemies with (hopefully) superior Speed. Cilsane's usually good for a BB/Thunder or two before he goes down, and then C-C and Towy can go to town; C-C in particular is capable of sweeping whole teams with Play Rough once any pesky Steel-types are taken out. Grongar and Laugharne inflict status and launch attacks both physical and special, while Twm serves as a special wall of sorts. Like I said, this is my first competitive team, so I'm not familiar with technical terms or with what I'm supposed to say, so... Rate my team, please?

Hi ! I think I can give you some advices.

Waterfall > Aqua Tail on Azumarill and what do you think about Lava Plume and Flash Cannon over WoW and Fire Blast on Heatran. You will be able to burn with Lava Plume and Flash Cannon will gove you some coverage against Fairy type. Actually, a bulky Fairy mon ( Sylveon or Clefable for example... ) can easily gives you big problems if Gengar is dead ( and we know he rarely stays a lot of time... ).

If you feel underwhelmed by Poison Heal Breelom, try the Technician set. Give him a Life Orb and switch Swords Dance with Bullet Seed. Bullet Seed w/ Life Orb destroys anything that doesn't resist it.
