[OVERVIEW]
While there are better Grass-types in the tier such as Virizion and Whimsicott, Thwackey primarily stands out with Grassy Surge, letting it support setup sweepers like Hitmonlee and making it a decent wallbreaker and revenge killer. It has limited coverage, but it can make up for that with Grassy Glide, raw strength behind its STAB Wood Hammer, and the utility of Knock Off and U-turn. However, the tier has a fair amount of Grass-resistant Pokemon that can outspeed and threaten Thwackey such as Talonflame and Whimsicott. Thwackey also competes with Tsareena, which has better bulk, superior coverage, more natural strength, and access to Rapid Spin.

[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band allows Thwackey to maximize its power combined with Grassy Terrain. Knock Off is able to cripple common Grass-resistant Pokemon such as Charizard and Talonflame. U-turn allows Thwackey to pivot on Grass-resistant that are not heavily bothered by Knock Off such as Guzzlord and Silvally-Steel. Grassy Surge allows Thwackey to support setup sweepers such as Grassy Seed Hitmonlee and Xatu. Talonflame and Ribombee are able to form a U-turn core with Thwackey and switch it in against bulky Water-types like Vaporeon. Ribombee also appreciates Thwackey weakening Steel-types. Together, they can overwhelm Grass-resistant Pokemon like Weezing and Togedemaru. Uxie and Silvally-Fairy are reliable pivots that can switch in Thwackey to safely set Grassy Terrain again or sweepers like Hitmonlee and Thievul to set up. With Grassy Terrain, Silvally-Steel appreciates the weakened Earthquake damage and passive recovery.

[OVERVIEW]
Thwackey is able to stand out from other Grass-type breakers due to having Grassy Surge and strong priority. however its primary function is as support for terrain abusing sweepers seriously why is this not the main thrust of the overview I'm very confused. Thwackey is a support mon that runs as a CB breaker because there's nothing better for it to do. Why is this not mentioned???? Thwackey has limited coverage but can easily make up for it with Grassy Glide, raw strength behind its STAB Wood Hammer, and the utility of Knock Off and U-turn. However, the tier has a fair amount of Grass-type resists that can outspeed and threaten Thwackey out, such as Talonflame and Whimsicott. Thwackey also competes with Tsareena, which has better bulk, coverage, and natural strength in addition to Rapid Spin.

Talonflame is able to form a pivoting core with Thwackey and can get it in against bulky Water-types like Vaporeon. Additional Grass-types such as Tsareena and Virizion can make for solid partners as they are able to become more threatening with Grassy Terrain up and have better coverage than Thwackey itself. Together they can overwhelm Grass-type resists like Weezing and Togedemaru. Stealth Rock users such as Druddigon help wear down the opposing team so Thwackey can clean with Grassy Glide. idk this seems real basic, on the level of literally everything likes rocks support. probably wouldn't mention. maybe mention defensive pivots that can help keep ur terrain mon alive for later but don't lose too much momentum? idk it's hard to write teammates for this

Uxie and Silvally are reliable pivots to get Hitmonlee or Thievul in safely to set-up. i mean, thwackey has u-turn? and i'd make this less abt what they do to thwackey's teammates but instead what they do to thwackey Silvally-Steel appreciates the weakened Earthquake damage and passive recovery with Grassy Terrain up too.
