You have a choice, 1 choice...

An interesting thought.

Seeing as most battles are 6 vs 6, say a tourney came up, exactly the same rules, but you could only use one pokemon.

A 1 vs 1 tourney.

What would you choose to use?

Scarf-Weavile, ScarfChomp, Scarf-Infernape or Scarf-Heracross. Specs-Alakazam or Azelf would be good as well. If Ubers, Arceus, nuff' Said.

Assuming Arceus doesn't count, I'd use Darkrai in ubers. Dark Void, then Taunt, then gg. With Darkrai's obscene movepool, you can pretty much swap around depending the opponent you're facing. If you're facing Primeape, use Psychic and watch it die. Darkrai's Dark Void and his Bad Dreams ability eliminates an opposing Sash on the field, disables the opponent and slowly weakens them. In some cases (e.g vs Mewtwo), a single Bad Dreams damage allows Darkrai to OHKO Mewtwo with Dark Pulse (if it does survive then the second one kills it)

Otherwise, I'd probably go Gengar in OU. Practically the same reason as Darkrai. Weavile could be troublesome here. Use HP Fighting and Focus Sash if that happens. Hypnosis first though, because it will probably be carrying Sash, and hope it hits AND stays asleep for 3 turns (Hypnosis, HP Fight and then Sucker Punch). If Blissey appears, just Hypnosis + Focus Punch it to death.

Unpredictability wins most of these matches, and apparently so does Focus Sash lol. In all honesty, another rule should be placed, so that you can swap moves between matches to stir things up, rather than facing definite wins/losses

I should have mentioned it's no-ubers.

If it was that Darkrai would be everywhere...

Good ideas so far, i myself thought of slapping a Scarf on a pokemon and trying to kill before being killed, but it seems a more rounded approach is needed.

I'd probably try something like this:

Gengar@ Focus Sash
Hasty/Mild Nature
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
- Counter
- Hypnosis
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Hard to leave out Thunderbolt due to the mass of Water-Types, but Hypnosis + Shadow Ball should be fine. Nothing resists Ghost + Fighting either and you can't really risk CounterSash on Tyranitar, you'd want to try and take it out with Focus Blast.

Blissey might be a pain, but just try and keep it asleep and pray Focus Blast hits enough times...

Or, if you're really that worried of something like Blissey, slap Focus Punch on over Focus Blast and see how SleepPunching fairs.

Loses to 252 Speed +nature Specs Mewtwo.

Psychic/Aura Sphere/Shadow Ball/Thunder

This thread is only for OU by the way, but yeah, feel free to discuss ubers too.

I was going to enter this tournament on the forum it's on, but it's Wi-Fi and I didn't want a cheap loss on my record xD yeh I'm ghey like that.

In OU,
Breloom @ Focus Sash
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Leech Seed
- Seed Bomb

What's there to say. Spore, and start firing away with your stabbed move. Only an early wake might bring a hole to this strategy

Another thing i'm considering

Hypno @ Leftovers
- Night Shade
- Wish
- Hypnosis
- Seismic Toss

NS/ST gives you the 100 damage you need, that can be used even against normal types (bliss) or ghosts (gengar). Hypnosis is a must in 1V1, and wish for healing.

The reason why i use hypno is it's wonderful trait, insomnia. Hi darkrai, you can't sleep me. Hi gengar, i don't fear you.

Breloom=Sash+Spore. Safest way to go is sleep because someone can kill easy with type advantage or something with high defences like Duskinor.

Then they just use Taunt and you're dead...lol

TyraniBoah with a Lum berry? Sandstream will break focus sashers who seem to be everywhere on this thread, and Lum berry will solve sleepers, allowing you to sub up, then hit hard. Taunt needs to be precticted, just attack, not much can take two Boah attacks :)

Wide Lens Hypnosis Crobat would be a pick for me, but there's some things out there it doesn't do enough damage to. Still, it beats other Sleepers and it beats Sashers. Maybe go Lum Berry to sacrifice 7% accuracy for one more try against opposing sleepers - helpful too when your opponent carries a Lum himself.

Smeargle @ Focus Sash
252 HP, 252 Spd
Naive Natured
- Taunt
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Destiny Bond

Not sure what the rules are about self-KOing moves, but I assume they force a draw and so are useless. Maybe mach punch over destiny bond for sash users?
...Ben

Simple. I would either do this:

Gengar@Focus Sash
252 SPD/252SPATK
Timid
-Counter
-Shadowball
-Sucker Punch
-Thunderbolt/Hypnosis

OR

some kind of bulky lum berry user. just has to be able to take out whatever is trying to status you to cripple and ko it.
