XY OU Your boy so fly that ground moves don't affect me

hi, im dylantubulark and this is my somewhat balanced offense team that is one pokemon short from being a monotype flying team lmfao.
lemme rundown the teambuilding process and then ill tell you about the pokemon

i heard good things about the double bunny core so i decided to start here

couldnt go wrong with smogon bird

needed a good special attacker so i went with lando-i

needed something to break walls as fast and hard as possible and zard y holds a special place in my heart for doing that

obviously needed a defogger if i was gonna use zard y and talonflame so went with skarm for how reliable it was and i needed something to make it so i dont auto lose against a +6 azu

was getting sick of scarf diggers doing 98% on a roll so went with scarf lando-t as it was so much obviously better it hurts, and scarf lando-t has more use outside of just hitting something hard or pivoting, used thundy-i as my new special attacker for some added safety via prankster t waves and what not

aight so on with the sets then

184.png
Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Aqua Tail / Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

av azumarill is amazing for switching into anything that threatens the pokemon i currently have out and has pretty good defensive synergy with skarm, i personally run aqua tail as i dont mind the 10% drop in acc and im not gonna be flinching anything with my speed. EVs are to live certain hits and outspeed other azumarills among some other things

645-t.png

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Superpower

lando is one of the best scarfers in the meta, great pivot w/ intimidate and has insane attack stats, can switch into a surprising amount of things even when univested thanks to the afore mentioned intimidate. EVs are standard, jolly nature to outspeed Zard X after a DD

663.png

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 92 SpD / 164 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz / Roost
- Roost / Swords Dance
- Taunt

my personal favorite talonflame set, kinda suffers from 4MSS hilariously enough, if you run roost and SD over flare blitz, i personally recommend you drop a bunch of speed EVs and stop at just enough to outspeed mega pinsir, then just drop the rest in some bulk. EVs are to outspeed and kill Raikou and Thundy I with Flare Blitz, taunt is to beat certain things and preventing random t waves thanks to CTCs sets being everywhere

642.png

Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

thundy-i itself has easily held its weight incomparison to lando-i and its made my life against greninja a lot easier and made it so if i lose my scarfer i dont auto lose against teams with ninja. standard set really and provides a lot of safety against fast pokemon that would otherwise threaten my team (this team is gonna suck so bad in ORAS thanks to mega scep LOL)

6-my.png

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

zard y is easily one of my favorite pokemon in this meta, surprisingly bulky and is easily capable of messing up teams that arent prepared for it. standard EVs and nature, dont run timid or flamethrower as that will make you regret not running modest or fire blast due to not getting kills you would have got otherwise. solar beam for water types, and focus blast for heatran and ttars that think they wall you

227.png

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 204 HP / 96 Def / 208 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
- Defog
- Whirlwind

skarmory is one of the most successful pokemon in ou since its creation, with its incredible bulk and steel/flying typing, skarmory was the pokemon i knew i had to have as my defogger for this team due to the defensive synergy it provided with azumarill and the ability to set up rocks, phase out pokemon that have set up on me, and be a constant nuisance due to reliable recovery. this is also my only answer to belly drum azumarill outside of thundy-i's t wave (which isnt even that reliable :/) as ill just sack something, switch into skarm, get dropped to sturdy by waterfall, and whirlwind it out.

all in all a very solid team imo, tell me your thoughts and what you would do to change certain things about it. thanks for reading.

Hey, nice team! Here are my suggestion:

Firstly, just a minor nitpick, but your AV Azu's EV spread should be changed to 240 HP/252 Atk/16 SpD. The 8 in speed that you use to outspeed other Azumarill's don't really help with anything else and having 240 HP EVs mean that you can live more hits and take minimum damage from weather and entry hazards.

Also, why is your SD Talonflame running 92 in SpD, wouldn't it be better just to put in HP so that you can have more health to live hits? I would suggest you change the 92 in SpD to 92 in HP.

This team is really solid and I'm basically just nitpicking. Very well thought out.

Hope it helps!

about the av azu comment, understandable lol. as for my talonflame set, i can take more hits from cm clefable by investing in spd then i would investing in health and thats the most uphill struggle i have with this talon, especially if im not running roost at the time

Yo this is a very solid team. Your skarmory is taunt fodder so I would suggest you put brave bird or iron head to be able to ride the taunt out. And I agree with PK about the 92 EVs being better used in HP than in SpD cause cm clefable cand do shit to Talonflame as the move set normally used by clefable in OU is cm moonblast, cm, flamethrower and either softboiled or toxic. Taunt is a bit out of place on Talonflame and SD, BB, flare blitz and roost.

Glhf playing :D

I really dont like brave bird on skarm and all my moves are pretty much necessities on skarm lmao.
Ill try HP investment instead then lol
And this team doesnt win nearly as much without Taunt on Talonflame lol. Trust me on that.
Thanks for the reply though :)

Hello there, this is a pretty solid team, but I think I can do somethings to help it.
First off, something I saw when I first glanced over this team is that you have a talonflame, charizard y, and a thundurus, and a skarmory for defog. That puts a lot of pressure on skarmory, and skarmory isn't exactly the best fit for an offensive team like this, and is not that great of a defogger, because it's not that fast. First, I recommend changing skarmory to a latios, because latios is faster and can defog much more reliably, and is a better fit for these kind of HO teams. There would still be too much pressure on latios as a defogger, so I recommend taking out talonflame for keldeo, since it can take out chansey, the #1 counter to zard-y. But then since your team lacks SR, I would change lando-t's scarf set into the bulky pivot SR set to set up rocks and beat most physical attackers too. Also, I recommend changing charizard's nature to timid as this allows it to speed tie other +speed nature base 100s, and outspeed +speed nature kyu-b, which could hurt your team a bit. Those are my only suggestions, and here are the sets for the pokemon:
381.gif

Latios @ Life Orb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk / 29 HP
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Defog
647_itumonosugata.gif

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Scald
- Hidden Power Flying

HP Flying takes care of mega venusaur.

645_therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Rock Slide/Knock Off

8 speeds gives you a slow u-turn and outspeeds modest magnezone, 8 special defense stops the OHKO from mega manectric's HP Ice, and the rest is dumped in HP and defense to tank physical hits better.
Hope I helped n_n

Hello user DylanTubularK, somewhat solid team you have here.

I agree with all of firehusky's excellent suggestions. I'm best with visual data, so let's look at the team after his changes:

A pretty offensive team, but it still has a few problems. If Latios is stopped from Defogging, you just lose the game. You also don't have a Dragon resist. If CM Clefable gets any amount of boosts, you pretty much lose. To fix these problems, I think you should try Bisharp over Talonflame. This gives you one less rock weak, as well as something that can trap and eliminate opposing Lati@s, which is important for Keldeo and Zard-Y. Iron Head obviously deals huge damage to Clefable, regardless of how many CMs it has. Once Lati@s is gone, the rest of your team can start spamming their strong STABs. You can try Assault Vest Bisharp to take two Latios Draco Meteors, and come in on Clefable a little be easier. You can also opt for a Life Orb, which amplifies your damage output. Anyways, the completed team will look like this:

Best of luck testing, and welcome to the forums!

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
Sucker Punch
Knock Off
Pursuit
Iron Head

Having a scarfer is way too important in my opinion. I will consider changing Keldeo for Talonflame, but having a Scarfed Lando-T is much more important than switching Skarmory for Latios. I would consider Latias though.

However, having Stealth Rocks up is even more important. Latias and Latios are pretty much the same, but latios gives your team a bit more offensive presence.

You could always use Scarf Keldeo. Exactly the same as the Specs set but it trades straight up power for speed.

Tbh if I was gonna use SR Lando-T Id just go back to Lando-I and give it SR lol Latias has healing wish. Imo a pretty big difference right there.
Scarf Keldeo imho isnt all that strong but Id try it
