Personally I find it a more realistic experience from Resident Evil 4. Not only did it have intricate shadowing effects and refined artwork, the gameplay is also taking a step towards the realistic side.
I don't know about you guys, but I always wondered what happened to the rest of the village in RE4. The plaga when fully grown may kill you, but I was honestly surprised on how few villagers you actually faced. Within the first few chapters you probably fought 40-50 people. Honestly I expected more people from the village, and this goes with the island and castle portions of the game as well.
What I really liked about it was the improved hordes of zombies. It really made it seem like a survival game, and the numbers more or less matched the environment. In shanty town you faced quite a few zombies and you were in a city, and in the village starting fight you also fought a good amount of people. All in all the numbers you faced in that certain area were the numbers you would expect to face, and it just wasnt about killing them it was getting away and living with lots of actions and shooting. Really a tantalizing combination of action and survival, with creative points like flying plagas and a hammer/axe man that can break down walls of a building.
Even the different places you could gain items is improved. I especially like the way that they arent so obvious like finding hand gun bullets in tomatoes. It wasnt just crates and barrels, in the midst of action you have to act quickly and not only trust your guts you have to actually think a little first.
I mean, in the village area they had zombies coming in from all sides, through the busted wall, the windows, the doors, and even the roof. You really have the time to get all that stuff before they broke in the room to get you.
It was like they combined the battle aspects of CoD5, with the horror aspects of Dead Space, and the stunning new ideas that you saw in Resident Evil 4 with the weapons and enemies and such. This sounds like its gonna be a good game to play on professional mode with a friend.
The only things that so far I am hoping for is an improvement on the weapon selection, depth of upgrading, the customizability of weapons and not just Firepower, Reload speed, Firing speed, and capacity you saw in RE4. I would like them to keep that, improve on it, and perhaps limit the amount of times you can upgrade it so your guns will always have advantages and disadvantages. More attachments with different effects would be nice too. And upgrading the knife or machete as they call it. An increased selection on what you could get would be nice too, as well earlier unlocks of guns. I can remember when I had to wait until chapter 4 in RE4 to get the killer 7, I would really like if I could make the decision to get one earlier in exchange for large amounts of money. A real way to customize gameplay even further. Smarter AI too, but im getting strong hints that it is quite improved. A much longer game as well, and it would make sense since the developers state they are tieing a lot of loose ends from the past series, and there were a lot of them.
SO I ask you, what are things you disliked about the demo and think could be improved and what would you personally like to see in RE5 that you didn't see in Resident Evil 4?
Personally I thought most of the things were improved, and im sure glad its Capcom making the game and not EA. I figure that I won't be disappointed with it and most of the obvious things that most people want that i have stated will make it to the game. I mean come on, who doesnt want more weapons and have them be more customizable? And better AI? You really arent a real gamer if you dont want positive expansion like that.
All in all I think its going to be promising. Capcom never fails to disappoint me.
