Your Wish Wont Come True (OU RMT)

Its that time of the month again, time for a new team. I was looking around while testing my last team, and saw this new jirachi made by philip, and I fought against it a few times myself. I started looking into using it on a more offensive based team, and this is what came about. Seems to be working, but because I like opinions, here it is.

Infernape (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fake Out
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat
Needed a lead, and of my favorite leads, I always found infernape. This time however, I decided to finally go with a standard lead set, unlike usual where I use some deviation of it or a completely different ape set in the lead. Suprisingly, I like it. Fake Out helps break sashes, and does a bit of scouting. SR because its one of the most important parts of the metagame, Fire Blast for STAB and to hit most leads hard, CC for STAB and like yea.

500.png

Rotom-c @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Will-o-wisp
- Pain Split
- Thunderbolt
Looking around, I wanted a way to help slightly deal with pert leads, a decent gyarados check, and sponge metagross. There were also a couple other threats I forgot, but my eye immediately turned to rotom. It was one of the stars in my last team, so I threw it right in. Pain Split is probably the outlier in the set, since most people run rest-talk. I like being able to steal my opponents health, and having both tbolt and shadow ball is worth it. So Shadow Ball and T-Bolt both for STAB, and they provide very good coverage together. Wisp to burn physical threats and a mean to inflict residual damage.

373.png

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 16 Atk/252 Spd/240 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Roost
So now I needed something with some special power right away, and mence is always a favorite. Everyone always loves using these things, but hates facing them, so it was an obvious choice. So Draco Meteor for the butter of the set, Fire Blast hits most steels and grasses, EQ hits the rest of those steels, and T-Tar for heavy damage. Roost provides healing, and its useful if my ape can't stop opposing rocks.

212.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 184 HP/252 Atk/72 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
Looking at what threatened jirachi sweeping, two things were scarf rotom and tyranitar. As part of my core to support jirachi, scizor does its job with flygon to not only clear for the sweep, but also revenge kill any stragglers. It also provides a latias check. I run a bit more speed on my scizor than normal to be able to outspeed 68 speed vaporeon, which is always an annoyance. So BP for revenge killing, U-Turn for strong scouting, Superpower for blissey and steels, Pursuit for ghosts.

330.png

Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
This was probably my first choice for jirachi support. I saw tyranitar and scarf rotom as threats to jirachi sweeping, and flygon came up. Being able to absorb rotoms trick and T-Bolt, and if they shadow ball, I have the scizor support. And for tyranitar, avoid EQ, take stone edge, and turn out to scizor if crunch. Flygon also serves as an excellent scouting partner to scizor, and an equally excellent revenge killer. EQ for STAB, U-Turn to scout, Outrage bcos STAB and rappage, SE for fliers.

385.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Wish
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
And now the star (not funny pun is not funny) of the show, wish CM jirachi. I remember seeing it in action, and fighting one myself, and saw the damage it could do. I have had experience running SubCM jirachi, and it doesn't stack up to this thing. With the physical bulk, it can sponge some hits, and deal massive damage back. It also deals nice damage to stall. So CM for boosting, Wish for healing, T-Bolt for waters and fliers, and provides excellent coverage with psychic. Psychic provides STAB, and hits most things in combination with T-Bolt, and most things that would resist this combo can be easily be disposed of by my support core.

So thats it. Thanks for taking the time to read, and hope you like and rate well.

Hello!

Cool team, but there are some things that I see. First off, your team is very weak to Swords Dance Lucario. After a Swords Dance it can outspeed and OHKO every Pokemon on your team with a boosted Close Combat. The Pokemon that outspeed Lucario on the other hand will be OHKOed by a Swords Dance boosted Extremespeed. Also, I think that Jirachi is being ill-supported. Any Trick user like Choice Scarf Rotom or Choice Specs Latias can outspeed Jirachi and Trick it a useless Choice item, making it a horrible and very limited sweeper. In order to fix both of these problems, I would consider changing Flygon to a Choice Scarf Tyranitar. Use a set of Crunch | Stone Edge | Earthquake | Pursuit, an EV spread of 4 HP | 252 Atk | 252 Spe, and a Jolly nature. Tyranitar can outspeed and OHKO all Lucario with Earthquake, and can also use STAB Pursuit to get rid of dangerous Choice Pokemon that can either prevent Jirachi from sweeping or Tricking it. While Scizor also has Pursuit, Tyranitar can more easily trap Rotom-H thanks to its high Special Defense and STAB Pursuit.

Alright, on Salamence you definitely don't need Roost. Jirachi already provides Wish support for all of your Pokemon, so really recovery on Salamence is pretty redundant. Also since Salamence is your prime wallbreaker it will rarely have time to use Roost; the only time I can see you using it is as your opponent switches out, but you're probably better off using Draco Meteor in that case. Try Outrage instead; it allows you to have a strong source of physical STAB and be a more prominent mixed attacker, as well as OHKO Blissey with a combination of Stealth Rock + Draco Meteor + Outrage.

Another thing that you may want to try is using Hidden Power Fighting in place of Pain Split on Rotom-C. Pain Split is generally a very unreliable way to recover health, and you already have Wish support from Jirachi as it stands. Hidden Power Fighting on the other hand can hit Heatran hard, as well as do heavy damage to Tyranitar which is helpful as it will commonly switch in on Rotom-C hoping to use Pursuit on it. Also, your current Jirachi set is totally walled by Tyranitar, which is bad as Tyranitar can be troublesome for some of your Pokemon. While Scizor's Bullet Punch can help deal with Tyranitar, some Tyranitar carry Babiri Berry; Hidden Power Fighting provides your team with a reliable way to 2HKO Tyranitar.

Hope I helped, and good luck with your team! ;)

I see the lucario problem, usually I play around it, but there are those times (mainly late game). I see the point of using t-tar for luke, but the other mentioned (rotom, latias) and the trick dilema, thats what flygon is for, and its not like tar would appreciate a specs from latias. Plus I just have never been a fan of scarftar, I'm more into like fast scarfers blah blah, ttar just doesnt fit my bill for some reason. I guess that still means I need a luke check. I guess I can try it, but I just really never liked scarftar. I want to keep flygon, but would anything else be replaceable to check luke?

I never liked outrage mence either, just being locked in like that feels limiting. Roost on mence helps if I am trying to beat something 1 on 1, and roost can give the edge. I think its more personal perference tbh. And blissey isnt much trouble for the rest of my team, so yea.

I can try HP fighting on rotom. Just the problem then is the same thing that would happen even if I still had split, is rotom can be trapped easily, and HP fighting is only a 2HKO, so I would really have to predict, otherwise fucked.

Hello

You could go with a more bulkier spread on your Salamence to provide a Lucario check and counter. An EV spread of 180 Def, 76 Spe, 252 SAtk would let you take Extreme Speed after Stealth Rock damage.

Hope this will help you and good luck with the team.

Okay first of all, very nice and quite solid team. However you have some problems:
When I first scrolled through your team I immediately thought two things: bad SD Lucario weakness ; and why CB Scizor+ScarfGon. Wouldn't be scarfTar over Flygon be the solution. Then I read Snorlaxe's post and now can say you really should do that change. It will solve your biggest problems, so just take the set suggested by snorlaxe.
On MixMence I also don't like Outrage very much and especially now that Sand Storm is on your team, I think roost is a good option (remember: Wish will only be a 25% recovery as you don't have a taunt lead/ a spinner to get rid of the omnipresent stealth rocks). To better deal with blissey however you could consider using the classic mixMence with Brick Break over Earthquake and move some EVs from speed into HP if you appreciate more bulk. It will also get rid of screens, which can be very important nowadays.
On your Rotom I would replace Pain Split because it's just not really reliable. You could use HP fighting but I think Leaf Storm would be the Best option in that slot. You said rotom should deal with pert leads. How without leaf storm? Also leaf storm will do hefty damage to scarf tyranitar (in fact min 61%, so almost 2hko after Rocks) and it will ohko Pert. Your other team members will actually struggle to take down Swampert. Band Tars won't be 2hkoed but you will be able to safely burn them.

Hope this helped you. Have fun with your team!

Bulky mence, I dunno about that.

Ugh, why is scarftar always coming around. Fine, I will try it. I really just never liked it because I just like playing faster, but w/e.

Blissey is no problem tbh, so it doesnt matter.

Leaf storm is fine too. Pain split has been decent enough for me, so w/e.
