With Psychic and Moonblast, Tapu Lele can shred through defensive staples like Toxapex, Great Tusk, Ting-Lu, and Pecharunt. Focus Blast crushes Steel-types like Melmetal, Ferrothorn, and Heatran that would otherwise comfortably switch into its STAB moves. Alternatively, Hidden Power Fire allows Tapu Lele to threaten Mega Scizor and Gholdengo while still hitting Ferrothorn. When paired with Psychium Z, Future Sight gives Tapu Lele an incredible nuke, letting it nail Galarian Slowking after it pivots into Psychic and break through walls like specially defensive Gliscor and Alomomola. Zamazenta and Weavile make great teammates for Tapu Lele. Zamazenta targets Steel-types like Kingambit and Melmetal, so Tapu Lele isn’t forced to rely on Focus Blast to hit them, while Weavile threatens Gholdengo and can Pursuit trap it. Defensive partners like Ferrothorn, Ting-Lu, and Moltres handle threats like Ogerpon-W, Tapu Koko, and Cinderace. Furthermore, Ferrothorn and Ting-Lu set entry hazards to weaken aforementioned Steel-types and Moltres can pivot versus foes like Toxapex.
