Zekrom

[OVERVIEW]

Zekrom's high offensive capabilities combined with its anti-meta STAB combination allow it to consistently beat standard sets of common defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, and Primal Kyogre. Also, its resistance to Flying and Steel combined with its bulk allows it to stay in on various offensive Pokemon such as Kartana and offensive Necrozma-DM lacking Precipice Blades. Due to these factors as well as Zekrom being the most viable Electric-type in BH, Zekrom finds a niche as an anti-meta Pokemon that can capitalize on most teams not having a reliable way to beat it.

However, despite having some great resistances, Dragon is one of the most prepared-for defensive types in the metagame due to the presence of Giratina, Zygarde-C, and Mega Rayquaza. As such, Zekrom is frequently hit by Ice- and Fairy-type coverage and revenge killed by -ate users. As most offensive teams will have multiple of these Pokemon, Zekrom finds difficulty in setting up on them. In addition, though uncommon, Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix generally stop Zekrom cold. Zekrom is also unable to run significantly different sets; one check to Zekrom will generally check all of Zekrom's sets. Zekrom can be difficult to Imposter-proof, making it difficult to fit onto a team. Zekrom generally finds itself struggling to sweep if it cannot find an opportunity to set up, as it lacks the sheer power that other Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo X have, making it more difficult to use.

Moves
========

Bolt Strike in conjunction with Life Orb 2HKOes anything that does not resist it and OHKOes anything weak to it. In particular, it 2HKOes Mega Audino and Registeel while OHKOing Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Primal Kyogre. Even without Life Orb, Bolt Strike still OHKOes Water-types and Flying-types. Draco Meteor serves as the secondary STAB move of choice, OHKOing every relevant Dragon-type in the metagame after Shell Smash unless they have Unaware. Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and Speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost that it previously could not OHKO, including Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y. Taunt serves as an option to prevent Zekrom's targets from recovering health or using Topsy-Turvy to neuter its sweeping potential, and also helps against Prankster Registeel, preventing it from using Destiny Bond on Zekrom without being forced out next turn.

Core Enforcer serves as a more consistent STAB option due to not dropping Special Attack in addition to taking away Prankster from Pokemon that use it. However, it is weaker than Draco Meteor, meaning Zekrom will have a weaker Z-Move and miss some 2HKOs and OHKOs such as on Primal Groudon and Giratina. Clanging Scales can be used if a Soundproof Pokemon is being used to wall Impostered Zekrom. However, it drops Zekrom's Defense, undermining its good physical bulk and leaving it more vulnerable to priority. Close Combat can be run over Taunt if Zekrom wishes to beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix; however, replacing Taunt makes Zekrom's matchup versus Prankster Pokemon and other walls drastically worse.

Set Details
========

A Rash nature boosts Zekrom's Special Attack to its fullest potential while taking away from Zekrom's Special Defense so its offensive capabilities and ability to take priority attacks aren't hindered. The Special Attack boost allows it to achieve better rolls on threats such as Primal Groudon, Imposter Pokemon and Ferrothorn, thus requiring less chip damage. Dragonium Z offers a one-time nuke, hitting many targets hard as well as OHKOing Zygarde-C and Giratina with no setup. Life Orb offers a more consistent boost in power and lets Draco Meteor OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C at the cost of taking recoil every turn, which may be detrimental because Zekrom then has a limit put on how many attacks it can use at the start of the game and is more prone to being revenge killed. Adaptability boosts Zekrom's STAB moves, turning it into a powerful threat that can 2HKO most Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Be sure to scout for moves that Zekrom does not appreciate, including power-neutering ones like Core Enforcer and Spectral Thief, before setting it up for a sweep. Being burned is possibly the worst status condition for Zekrom because it halves the damage Bolt Strike does, so it is wise to avoid this scenario if possible. Scouting for Will-O-Wisp, Scald, and Beak Blast will allow you to avoid unnecessary burns. If there is a check to Zekrom on the field, be sure to weaken or eliminate it beforehand so Zekrom can sweep. Eliminating Mega Diancie in particular is important, as it can revenge kill Zekrom very easily with no fear of Extreme Speed. Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino can cause trouble as well, as they can take a hit before doing whatever they wish to Zekrom. Prankster Haze and Destiny Bond also neuter Zekrom's chances of sweeping.

Set up on Pokemon that Zekrom can force out, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Primal Kyogre. Be wary of Zekrom's damage output. While it hits hard, there are some Pokemon that it does not OHKO and can retaliate with a crippling move like Knock Off, Spectral Thief, or Core Enforcer. Be sure that Zekrom will force out the foe by threatening to KO unboosted before setting it up, as foes can otherwise use the chance to attack with a crippling move. Note that Draco Meteor will not OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C without Life Orb and that they can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play Z-Move Zekrom with caution.

Team Options
========

Electric Terrain is useful for boosting the power of Zekrom's Bolt Strike in addition to making Zekrom immune to sleep and potentially eliminating Misty Terrain, letting Zekrom use its Dragon-type attack of choice without being weakened. Zekrom also appreciates entry hazard support; Spikes in particular is pretty helpful for chipping Ferrothorn and Steelix better than Stealth Rock does, and both can KO Shedinja to help Zekrom's sweep. Zekrom appreciates having Mega Diancie to lure in and potentially beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix with Fighting- or Ground-type coverage. Fur Coat Chansey is a good partner to Zekrom, as it walls all relevant variants of Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B, two Pokemon that revenge kill Zekrom. Fur Coat Chansey can also help Imposter-proof Zekrom in a pinch. If you are using Life Orb, you can run Z-Parting Shot on Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Giratina to further Zekrom's longevity if needed as well as provide a safe switch and a potential opportunity to set up. Zekrom appreciates checks to Pixilate and Refrigerate users, as they revenge kill it handily. Flash Fire Steel-types, Ho-Oh, and Fur Coat Chansey can all fulfill this role.

Poison Heal sweepers such as Xerneas and Regigigas can heavily pressure offensive teams, which have many ways of dealing with Zekrom. In return, Zekrom deals massive damage to most of Xerneas's and Regigigas's checks, such as Ho-Oh and Giratina. Ghost-types can be used as a switch-in to Shedinja, which comes in on Zekrom for free most of the time. Unaware Ferrothorn, RegenVest or Unaware Mega Steelix, and Shedinja can Imposterproof this Zekrom set very reliably. Steel-types can help check the Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Shell Smash is the best setup move for Zekrom, as it increases its offensive stats and Speed in a single turn. The offensive boosts allow Zekrom to OHKO more Pokemon in general as well as better handle offensive teams if it does find the opportunity to set up. Extreme Speed outprioritizes Prankster moves and does good damage to every Prankster Pokemon that does not resist it. It also shares priority with other Extreme Speed users such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-B, but only goes first when boosted. Boomburst handles Pokemon that have the ability Dazzling and functions as a hard-hitting attack in general, notably 2HKOing Mega Audino unlike Frustration. Judgment handles Dragon-types such as Giratina, Zygarde-C, and Mega Garchomp as well as other Pokemon that resist Electric like Primal Groudon and Mega Swampert. Judgment also helps Zekrom beat Imposter, as Imposter users generally lack a Plate, which allows Zekrom to hit them super effectively while they cannot.

Frustration is usable over Boomburst to hit physically defensive Pokemon harder than Extreme Speed or for when the priority isn't needed and PP should be preserved, but the loss in power from Boomburst is not appreciated. Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix and Sunsteel Strike is an option to beat Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves.

Set Details
========

Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter users don't. It also boosts the damage of Judgment to the equivalent of 120 Base Power, allowing an unboosted Zekrom to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Mega Rayquaza, Zygarde-C, and Giratina. Galvanize boosts the power of Extreme Speed, Boomburst and Frustration while also granting Zekrom STAB on these attacks, assisting it in KOing Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Mega Gyarados. A Rash nature allows it to have as much power possible on Judgment and Boomburst while also making sure Speed isn't lost and less damage is taken from Mega Diancie's and Kyurem-B's Extreme Speed. A Rash nature also gives Zekrom great chances of OHKOing Primal Groudon and Mega Audino after a Shell Smash and Stealth Rock damage while also increasing the amount of damage dealt to Imposter Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Set Zekrom up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Celesteela. Make sure that Zekrom's checks are weakened before it sweeps; while they're rare enough, they do exist and need to be scouted. These checks include Mega Steelix, Ferrothorn, and Mega Diancie. Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game. Depending on the Pokemon you should carefully evaluate the possibility of a one-for-one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond. However, Zekrom can also play mind games with Extreme Speed, so you may not have to make that decision at all. Use double switches or slow pivoting to get Zekrom in; while it has good bulk and a nice defensive typing, it lacks recovery and is dependent on its item to sweep most teams. Galvanize Zekrom is able to also provide revenge killing utility to its team, picking off weakened offensive Pokemon as well as sufficiently weakened Prankster Pokemon.

Team Options
========

Zekrom largely appreciates Electric Terrain support, as the added power turns it into a frightening wallbreaker if being a sweeper is not needed at the moment. However, it also massively boosts Zekrom's sweeping power as well as its odds of beating Prankster Registeel lacking Encore, allowing Boomburst to 2HKO it. Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support which can assist in breaking Focus Sashes as well as chipping Pokemon into KO range of an attack. In particular, Stealth Rock or one layer of Spikes beats Shedinja and lets +2 Zekrom OHKO Primal Groudon with Judgment and OHKO Mega Mewtwo Y with Boomburst. Zekrom appreciates Mega Mewtwo X's ability to force out Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, as the two can pressure the opposing team with double switches and U-turn. This strategy works especially well if there are entry hazards on the opponent's side of the field. Zekrom also appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon and be another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team, but the two Dragon-types share weaknesses to Fairy-, Ice- and Dragon-types. Zekrom appreciates Pixilate and Refrigerate checks, such as Fur Coat Chansey and Flash Fire Steel-types. Users of those two abilities can effectively revenge kill Zekrom, meaning it is crucial to have a way to beat them.

Zekrom has excellent synergy with offensive Poison Heal users, as they can trouble more offensive teams that Zekrom might have difficulty against. In return, Zekrom can 2HKO most of the checks to offensive Poison Heal users such as Giratina, Celesteela, and Zygarde-C. Giratina, Ferrothorn, and Mega Steelix can Imposter-proof Zekrom due to resisting Normal and Electric, since Imposter will not have Draco Plate and will therefore have all of its moves be converted to Electric-type. Slow pivoting to get Zekrom in safely can be beneficial, as hard switching can risk Zekrom taking heavy damage, losing its item, or being statused. Steel-types can help check the Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-B.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Unfortunately, Zekrom has little room for variance outside of its two main sets. It can run a Choice Band Tough Claws set with Bolt Strike, Dragon Hammer, Close Combat, and another move. However, Zekrom likes being able to sweep teams and not being locked into moves due to the prevalence of Pokemon that are immune to its STAB moves. Fake Out on Galvanize can be run over Shell Smash for better revenge killing utility, but Zekrom loses the ability to set up, which makes it weak and reduces its wallbreaking potency. Dazzling can be run to lure priority users, but Zekrom does not enjoy losing out on the power of Adaptability or Galvanize. Surge Surfer is usable on Electric Terrain teams, but Zekrom often appreciates the power boost from both Electric Terrain and its ability of choice and will often have a boost in speed from Shell Smash anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Pixilate and Refrigerate users**: Kyurem-B revenge kills all Zekrom sets handily while also resisting Galvanize Extreme Speed. Mega Diancie can also revenge kill Zekrom but does not resist Extreme Speed, so it must avoid being in KO range after Zekrom uses Shell Smash.

**Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix**: Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix are resistant to Zekrom's STAB combination. Due to this and their good bulk, they are able to effectively check Zekrom and potentially burn it, trap and beat it, or remove its item.

**Unaware**: Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon such as Registeel are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom. Adaptability handily beats every Unaware user in the metagame except for Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, however.

**Shedinja**: Zekrom rarely carries coverage for Shedinja, so Shedinja walls most Zekrom sets.

**Ground-types**: Mega Swampert and Primal Groudon can check unboosted Zekrom. However, they must be wary after a Shell Smash, as Zekrom can OHKO them with its Z-Move from the Adaptability set. Primal Groudon can run Misty Surge prior to Primal Reversion to circumvent this for a short period of time.

**Status**: It is important to keep Zekrom away from being poisoned, burned, or put to sleep, as all three of these status conditions can heavily reduce Zekrom's offensive presence.

I know we had some talk in Discord last night but there are some stuff I want to mention:
Combined with this, its typing combined with its bulk allows it to stay in on various offensive Pokemon such as Blaziken, Kartana, and Mega Rayquaza lacking Core Enforcer or Draco Meteor.
"Aerilate Mega Rayquaza lacking Precipice Blades"

For Adaptability set, is Naive nature really needed? Primal Kyogre won't stay in against Zekrom unless it is boosted, Giratina and Zygarde-C run min Speed and won't stay in, and you won't go for a tie with Pdon for obvious reasons. These are the matchup of Zekrom vs other base 90 Speed Pokemon. I'd rather run Naughty or Rash nature for better rolls against other things. To list some of them:

+2 252+ SpA Adaptability Zekrom Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 285-336 (80.9 - 95.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Life Orb Adaptability Zekrom Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Zygarde-Complete: 624-738 (98.1 - 116%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Adaptability Zekrom Devastating Drake (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Groudon-Primal: 374-440 (92.5 - 108.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

The third situation is when Pdon switches into Zekrom on Primal Reversion - it will take 6% -ish from SR so the minimum roll vs. it will be ~98.5%. There are other things possible with Rash / Naughty nature but its midnight for me and stuff so I'll just say you might want to run Rash unless you have a special reason to run Naive.

Draco Meteor bullet can caution readers about its inability to OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C without Life Orb - what they will do in return is hitting Zekrom with core and that won't be very sweet.

Adaptability bullet can make another emphasis on Zekrom's STAB combination's general usefulness - it will clarify why is Adaptability the most justifiable option on Zekrom instead of other things like Tough Claws or other things.

Usage Tips may need more elaboration. While Zekrom can 2HKO a lot of things, it can't really threaten to OHKO anything without relying on Life Orb or some prior damage dealt on foes. Not KOing a defensive wall and getting hit by status or Knock Off (if you are Life Orb) will be a little awkward. As you stated in the last bullet there are obvious things you can force out by threatening to OHKO them but foes that Zekrom can't super effectively hit will most likely do something nasty back to Zekrom - especially if their team lacks sufficient way to keep Zekrom in check, they will just sit there and press Spectral Thief. Some points that may be appropriate for this are:

* Zekrom naturally threatens many neutral foes with its STAB combination, but it struggles to OHKO foes without relying on super effective hits or excessive prior damage. In order to provide Zekrom a pristine setup condition, ensure that it is prepared to set up against foes that will switch out of Zekrom. Analyze what defensive foes that an opponent will keep and Zekrom can capitalize on this to force out an opponent's important Pokemon with its offensive presence and gain better opportunity to wallbreak or setup.

... or something similar.

Team Options can talk about defensive partners more. -ate checks are necessary so Steel-types might fit there. Poison Heal users do deserve mentions because of their ability to heavily pressure offensive teams (which have many ways to revenge kill Zekrom with faster Pokemon or priority users) and appreciate Zekrom dealing with almost every relevant Core Enforcer user. Not to mention that foes like maud will not likely press Spectral Thief against Poison Heal users after eating a Bolt Strike from Zekrom and being left at less than 50% HP. Also mention that entry hazards can help Zekrom against Sturdinja as well. Or you can add Ghost-types to ensure that Sturdinja is kept in check because all shed teams obviously have strong hazard removal anyway.

Boomburst on Galvanize set can talk about it hitting physically defensive Pokemon hard and guaranteeing 2HKO on Mega Audino, which Extreme Speed or Frustration cannot accomplish. The reason for running Rash nature can also be elaborated accordingly.

Usage Tips can talk about Galvanize set's benefit of having priority move. Maybe dedicate a new bullet about how Zekrom can provide revenge killing utility for its team, which Adaptability set cannot do. A separate bullet point can be added about keeping Zekrom healthy for Imposter matchups.

Team Options for Galvanize set can see similar changes as Galvanize set.

Other Options can maybe have Fake Out on Galvanize set added. Dazzling can also be mentioned for Zekrom to do better against priority users at a cost of reducing its wallbreaking potency.

Checks and Counters ordering can go:

* Pixilate- and Refrigerate-users
* Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix
* Unaware
* Shedinja
* Ground-types
* Status

Pixilate- and Refrigerate-users should be on top in my opinion, as they are the most common counterplays against Zekrom. Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix hardwall Zekrom with appropriate sets and you listed CC as a suboptimal option so therefore they take spot #2. Unaware users are mostly 2HKOed but they can live a hit from full health and use Spectral Thief or whatever to end Zekrom's sweep. Sturdinja is there for obvious reasons but the reason why it isn't at higher place is that sensibly built Zekrom teams will have other Pokemon deal with it - Zekrom can't deal with it by itself, and... its a shed. Ground-types are offensive checks but none of them actually defensively handle Zekrom well so they belong to almost at the bottom. Status deserves a mention if you deem it necessary - Zekrom's mediocre Speed means it is Spore'd by stuff like gigas so Sleep is another thing Zekrom should watch out for apart from obvious poison and burns.

MAMP!
pretty much all of dmdw's post is good so do all of that stuff

| overview
again, this should be in dot points

the overview should mention what sets zekrom runs. as is, the overview says what it beats and what it loses to without really saying what it does. it should also mention somewhere that zekrom's niche is in being basically the only good electric type in bh

first sentence is worded oddly, just say that its offensive typing is good and not much resists its stabs

what blaziken set is zekrom staying in on? change this to say that its flying/steel resists + decent bulk let it take random hits from mons like kartana and aerilate ray.

discuss how zekrom's common weaknesses (dragon/fairy/ground especially) make it hard for it to set up, particularly against offense teams

overview should mention that zekrom is kinda one-dimensional, and that some of its sets can be difficult to imposter-proof

| adaptability set
youve compared shell smash to other set up moves without really explaining why zekrom wants a set up move. say smth about how it lets zekrom outspeed things and gives it the power to break through defensive mons

dmdw's point regarding the nature is a good one that im inclined to agree with, but i recognise that you have far more personal experience with zekrom than me. change this unless you have a good reason for leaving it as is. also explain why zekrom prefers to lower its spdef rather than defense

rather than just comparing adaptability to galvanise, explain why adaptability is good. like dmdw said, this is a good place to talk about how good zekrom's stab combo is

team options should give suggestions for imposter proofs

"Zekrom appreciates Mewtwo Mega X to ward off Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix." m2x doesnt really help zekrom against ferro and lix other than beating them 1v1. m2x doesnt get momentum switching into them bc they status it or uturn out and if m2x comes in against them they can just switch, it doesnt really help zekrom to break through them at all. better to talk about pokemon that can lure them in and weaken them

wish tina/zygarde is obscure and not actually that great bc zek struggles to switch in on most of the stuff that forces them out. maybe talk about z-parting shot instead

| galvanise set
same point re: shell smash as last time

mention that espeed revenge kills things

boomburst is also zek's strongest option against most neutral targets, particularly fc mons

mention that judgment helps zek beat imposter bc imposter's judgment is normal type

feels weird to mention close combat and then so harshly denounce its utility. this dot-point makes it seem as though close combat is never worth running, and if thats the case it should not be mentioned

same goes for sunsteel strike. also, what unawares is sunsteel beating?

nitpick: draco plate doesnt boost judgment's base power, it boosts its damage

"as well as functioning as a good anti-meta Pokemon in general due to the lack of good Electric resists" this is an odd place to mention this

clarify why zek prefers a +spa nature rather than +atk

usage tips should talk about zek's role as a revenge killer

it only takes a little bit of prior damage for galv zekrom to lose to imposter, so recommend an imposter proof

"Zekrom appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon, as well as being another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team." again, chomp does not lure in pdon nor does it switch into it, so it doesnt actually help zekrom out against pdon in any meaningful way. the second part of this should clarify that it's difficult to prepare for both zek and chomp, as is its kinda vague

| other options
what does the cb tough claws set run? why is it worth running?

fake out galvanise should go here

| checks and counters
agreeing with dmdw's suggestions here, good to consolidate these

the overview should mention what sets zekrom runs. as is, the overview says what it beats and what it loses to without really saying what it does. it should also mention somewhere that zekrom's niche is in being basically the only good electric type in bh

first sentence is worded oddly, just say that its offensive typing is good and not much resists its stabs

what blaziken set is zekrom staying in on? change this to say that its flying/steel resists + decent bulk let it take random hits from mons like kartana and aerilate ray.

discuss how zekrom's common weaknesses (dragon/fairy/ground especially) make it hard for it to set up, particularly against offense teams

overview should mention that zekrom is kinda one-dimensional, and that some of its sets can be difficult to imposter-proof

| adaptability set
youve compared shell smash to other set up moves without really explaining why zekrom wants a set up move. say smth about how it lets zekrom outspeed things and gives it the power to break through defensive mons

dmdw's point regarding the nature is a good one that im inclined to agree with, but i recognise that you have far more personal experience with zekrom than me. change this unless you have a good reason for leaving it as is. also explain why zekrom prefers to lower its spdef rather than defense

rather than just comparing adaptability to galvanise, explain why adaptability is good. like dmdw said, this is a good place to talk about how good zekrom's stab combo is

team options should give suggestions for imposter proofs

"Zekrom appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon, as well as being another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team." again, chomp does not lure in pdon nor does it switch into it, so it doesnt actually help zekrom out against pdon in any meaningful way. the second part of this should clarify that it's difficult to prepare for both zek and chomp, as is its kinda vague

| other options
what does the cb tough claws set run? why is it worth running?

fake out galvanise should go here

| checks and counters
agreeing with dmdw's suggestions here, good to consolidate these

qc 1/3
Implemented and removed this part since it wasn't in DMDW's checks/counters, lmk if i should readd tho
**Imposter**: Imposter forces Zekrom out due to being a bulkier version of Zekrom as well as immediately threatening to OHKO Zekrom with its Dragon STAB. Imposter has to be wary of the Zekrom being Galvanize, however, as it has a lot more difficulty beating that set.

Zekrom

QC: MAMP / x / x

[OVERVIEW]

Zekrom has a great offensive typing which is not resisted by many Pokemon in the meta. Its high offensive capabilities combined with its anti-meta typing allow it to consistently beat standard sets of defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Registeel, Zygarde-C and Primal Kyogre. Combined with this, its resistances to Flying and Steel combined with its bulk allows it to stay in on various offensive Pokemon such as Kartana and Mega Rayquaza lacking Core Enforcer, Draco Meteor or Precipice Blades -Ate Boomburst is still doing a chuck though (252 SpA Sky Plate Aerilate Rayquaza-Mega Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Zekrom: 166-196 (41 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO). Not really worth staying in imo. Due to these factors as well as Zekrom being the only viable Electric-type in BH Xurkitree says hi, Zekrom finds its niche as an anti-meta Pokemon which can capitalize on most teams not having a reliable way to beat it.

However, despite having some key resistances, Dragon is one of the most prepared for defensive types in the metagame due to the presence of Giratina and Zygarde. As such, Zekrom finds itself to be revenged often by Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Mega Mewtwo Y if Zekrom hasn't set up yet, or if they are at full HP. Kyurem-Black gets a special mention due to resisting Zekrom's only form of priority in Galvanize Extreme Speed and being able to revenge Zekrom with Refrigerate priority. Just mention a general weakness to both Pixi and Refridg, meaning it can be offensively checked easier compared to other threats. As most offensive teams will have multiple of these Pokemon, Zekrom finds difficulty in setting up vs them. In addition to this, while other Steel-types are more common, Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix generally stop Zekrom cold. Flash Fire variants of these Pokemon get a special mention, as unless Zekrom is running Tough Claws Close Combat, it loses to them entirely Yet Zekrom is not really seen running Fire-coverage anyways, so I am a bit confused about this point. Primal Groudon checks Zekrom if it's fully healthy, even after a Shell Smash due to being neutral to Zekrom's Dragon STAB and immune to Zekrom's Electric STAB. Zekrom is also fairly one-dimensional, so if an opponent has a check to one of its sets, that check will generally check Zekrom's current set regardless of what the set prepared for was. Finally, Zekrom's sets can be difficult to Imposterproof, making it difficult to fit onto a team.
I feel you go too specific when mentioning checks to it, generally state how Zek can often struggle to sweep unboosted due to it lacking the firepower compared to other offensive mons like Mega Ray and MMX, making it a bit more difficult to use.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost, such as Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y. No other setup move boosts both of Zekrom's offensive stats, and as there is a lack of Extreme Speed, the speed boost is vital.
  • Bolt Strike in conjunction with Life Orb 2HKOs anything that does not resist it and OHKOs anything weak to it. In particular, it 2HKOs Mega Audino and Registeel while OHKOing Yveltal, Mega Gyarados and Primal Kyogre.
  • Draco Meteor serves as the secondary STAB move of choice, OHKOing every relevant Dragon-type in the metagame after a Shell Smash unless they have Unaware. In addition to this, it OHKOs Giratina and Zygarde-C if you have a Life Orb, but will not OHKO if you do not have a Life Orb Leave this as a mention in Set Details. Giratina and Zygarde-C can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play non-Life Orb Zekrom with caution. This is more of a Usage Tip
  • Taunt serves as an option to prevent Zekrom's targets from recovering health or using Topsy Turvy to neuter its sweeping potential. Taunt also helps vs Prankster Registeel, as it cannot Destiny Bond on Zekrom without being forced out next turn. Mention how Taunt also blocks recovery and phazing.
  • Core Enforcer serves as a more consistent STAB option due to not dropping Special Attack in addition to taking away Prankster from Pokemon that use it. However, it is weaker than Draco Meteor, meaning Zekrom will have a weaker Z move and miss some 2HKOs and OHKOs. Such as?
  • Clanging Scales can be used if a Soundproof Pokemon is being used to wall Impostered Zekrom. Mention the drawback with Defense drop
  • Close Combat can be run over Taunt if Zekrom wishes to beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix; However, replacing Taunt drastically makes Zekrom's matchup vs Prankster Pokemon and other walls worse.

Set Details
========

  • Rash boosts Zekrom's special attack to its fullest potential while taking away from Zekrom's Special Defense so its offensive capabilities aren't hindered while it can still take a physical attack in a pinch, which allows it to handle most forms of priority better. The special attack boost allows it to achieve better rolls on threats such as Primal Groudon and Ferrothorn, thus requiring less chip.
  • Dragonium Z offers a one-time nuke, hitting many targets hard as well as OHKOing Zygarde-C and Giratina with no setup.
  • Life Orb offers a more consistent boost in power at the cost of taking 10% of your health every turn, which may be detrimental as Zekrom is has a limit put on how many attacks it can use at the start of the game and leaves it more prone in being revenge killed.
  • Adaptability offers a boost in power to Zekrom's STAB moves which results in this set being more powerful than Galvanize. Due to Zekrom's STAB moves 2HKOing most Pokemon with Adaptability, this makes it the best ability for Zekrom. However, Adaptability trades power for reliability, forcing Zekrom to rely on the inaccurate Bolt Strike as its primary Electric STAB as well as Adaptability not granting STAB priority to Zekrom. Don't start comparing sets here, solely list why Adapt is used and talk about Galv when necessary.

Usage Tips
========

  • Be sure to scout for moves which Zekrom does not appreciate before setting it up for a sweep - Setting up on a Pokemon with Core Enforcer or Spectral Thief is a bad move as they can neuter Zekrom's power while dealing damage, so it is wise to scout for these moves beforehand.
  • Being burned is possibly the worst status condition for Zekrom, so it is wise to avoid this scenario if possible. How exactly? mentions of WoW, Scald and Beak Blast more specifically
  • If there is a check to Zekrom on the field, be sure to weaken or eliminate it beforehand so Zekrom can sweep. Eliminating Mega Diancie in particular is important, as it can revenge Zekrom very easily with no fear of being killed by an Extreme Speed user. Also mention common Unaware mons that check it such as Mega Dino and Prankster Haze / Dbond
  • Set up on Pokemon you can force out, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados and Primal Kyogre.
  • Be wary of Zekrom's damage output. While it hits hard, there are some Pokemon it does not OHKO and as a result can cripple it with Knock Off, Spectral Thief or damage it with Core Enforcer. Be sure that Zekrom will force out the opponent before setting it up or if they are weakened to the point where Zek can KO them unboosted, as losing Zekrom's item by Knock Off, being hit by Core Enforcer or having your boosts stolen by Spectral Thief can put the game in the opponent's favor.

Team Options
========

  • Electric Terrain is useful to boost the power of Zekrom's Bolt Strike in addition to making Zekrom immune to sleep and potentially eliminating Misty Terrain, letting Zekrom use its Dragon-type attack of choice without being weakened.
  • Zekrom appreciates Mega Diancie to lure in and potentially beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix with Fighting or Fire coverage. Make a mention of Ground coverage for Steelix especially, since most are FF anyways.
  • Fur Coat Chansey is a good partner to Zekrom, as it walls all relevant variants of Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black, two Pokemon which revenge Zekrom. and can also help improof Zek in a pinch
  • If you are using Life Orb, you can run Z-Parting Shot on Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Giratina to further Zekrom's longevity if needed as well as providing a safe switch-in and a potential opportunity to set up due to Parting Shot lowering the opponent's offensive stats.
  • Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support - Spikes in particular is pretty helpful for chipping Ferrothorn and Steelix better than Stealth Rock does. Move up
  • Zekrom appreciates checks to Pixilate and Refrigerate users, as they revenge Zekrom handily. Pokemon such as Flash Fire Steel-types, Ho-Oh and Fur Coat Chansey can all fulfill this role.
  • Poison Heal sweepers such as Xerneas and Regigigas can pressure offensive teams heavily, which have many ways of dealing with Zekrom. In return, Zekrom deals massive damage to most of Xerneas and Regigigas' checks, such as Ho-Oh and Giratina.
  • Entry hazards can help Zekrom sweep, as they kill Shedinja and chip other Pokemon. You already mentioned this
  • In addition to entry hazards, Ghost-types can also be used as a switch-in to Shedinja, which comes in on Zekrom for free most of the time.
  • Unaware Ferrothorn, RegenVest or Unaware Mega Steelix, and Shedinja can Imposterproof this Zekrom set very reliably.
  • Steel types can help check Fairy, Dragon and Ice types

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Shell Smash is the best setup move for Zekrom, as it increases its offensive stats and speed in a single turn making it a very potent Pokemon to try and beat once it does this. The offensive boosts allow Zekrom to OHKO more Pokemon in general, as well as handle offensive teams better if it does find the opportunity to set up. There is no other move that boosts Zekrom's offensive stats and speed at once, which is why Shell Smash is the best fit.
  • Extreme Speed outprioritizes Pranksters and does good damage to every Prankster Pokemon that does not resist it. It also shares priority with other Extreme Speeders, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-Black. But mention that it only outspeeds them when boosted
  • Boomburst handles Pokemon that have the ability Dazzling, as well as functioning as a hard hitting attack in general against anything that doesn't resist it. It hits physically defensive Pokemon hard, as well as achieving a 2HKO on Mega Audino with a Rash nature which Frustration and Extreme Speed do not. Boomburst is also Zekrom's strongest option against neutral targets and Fur Coat users. Just say that it is its most spammable move when not clicking Espeed
  • Frustration is another option to hit physically defensive Pokemon harder than Extreme Speed or for when the priority isn't needed and PP should be preserved, but the loss in power from Boomburst is not appreciated.
  • Judgment handles Dragon-types that resist Electric such as Giratina, Zygarde-C and Mega Garchomp. In addition to this, it hits Pokemon that resist or are immune to Electric for decent damage, such as Primal Groudon and Mega Swampert. Judgment also helps Zekrom beat Imposter, as Imposter generally lacks a Plate which allows Zekrom to hit it super effectively while Imposter cannot.
  • Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves. Nonetheless, Close Combat is still a fairly viable option and should be considered.
  • Sunsteel Strike can be used to break Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja - However, Zekrom largely needs all four of its primary moves, so it can be difficult to fit Sunsteel Strike on the set and should only be done when you require a way to beat the two aforementioned threats.

Set Details
========

  • Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter doesn't gain access to STAB Judgment. It also boosts the damage of Judgment to the equivalent of 120 BP, allowing an unboosted Zekrom to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Mega Rayquaza, Zygarde-Complete and Giratina.
  • Galvanize boosts the power of Extreme Speed, Boomburst and Frustration while also granting Zekrom STAB on these attacks. These assets assist it in killing Primal Kyogre, Yveltal and Mega Gyarados.
  • A Rash nature allows it to have as much power possible on Judgment and Boomburst, while also making sure Speed isn't lost and also allowing it to take less from Diancie-Mega's Extreme Speed and Kyurem-Black's Extreme Speed. The special attack boost allows Zekrom to hit as hard as it can using its strongest moves. Mention the benchmarks that Rash achieves specifically when facing certain physically defensive threats

Usage Tips
========

  • Set Zekrom up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Celesteela.
  • Take care to make sure that Zekrom's checks are weakened before it sweeps - While checks are rare enough, they do exist and need to be scouted.
  • Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game, depending on the Pokemon. Evaluate the possibility of a one for one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond and decide if Zekrom is worth the trade or if Zekrom is important later on. But Zek can work around the 50/50s through the use of Espeed against most Prankster users, so make this point more clear.
  • Use double switches or slow U-Turns to get Zekrom in - While Zekrom has good bulk and a nice defensive typing, it lacks recovery and is dependent on its item to sweep most teams.
  • Zekrom is able to provide revenge killing utility to its team, which Adaptability cannot do. This allows it to pick off weakened offensive Pokemon as well as sufficiently weakened Prankster Pokemon.
  • Make a point on when to click Espeed or spam Boomburst in particular

Team Options
========

  • Zekrom largely appreciates Electric Terrain support, as the added power turns its attacks into a frightening wallbreaker if being a sweeper is not needed at the moment. However, it also massively boosts Zekrom's sweeping power as well as its odds of beating Prankster Registeel lacking Encore.
  • Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support, which can assist in breaking Focus Sashes as well as chipping Pokemon into range of an attack. In particular, Stealth Rock or one layer of spikes lets Zekrom OHKO Primal Groudon after a Shell Smash with Judgment, as well as OHKO Mega Mewtwo Y with Boomburst after a Shell Smash. Mention it KOing Shed as well.
  • Zekrom appreciates Mega Mewtwo X's ability to force out Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, as the two can pressure the opponent with double switches and U-Turn to sustain chip damage. This strategy works especially well if there are hazards on the opponent's side of the field.
  • Zekrom appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon, as well as being another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team.
  • Zekrom appreciates Pixilate and Refrigerate checks, such as Fur Coat Chansey and Flash Fire Steel-types. Users of those two abilities can effectively revenge Zekrom, meaning it is crucial to have a way to beat them.
  • Zekrom has excellent synergy with offensive Poison Heal users, as they can provide trouble vs more offensive teams which Zekrom might have difficulty against. In return, Zekrom can 2HKO most of the checks to offensive Poison Heal users, such as Giratina and Zygarde-C.
  • Giratina, Ferrothorn, and Mega Steelix can all Imposterproof due to resisting Normal and Electric, since Imposter will not have Draco Plate.
  • Slow pivoting
  • Steel-types

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Unfortunately, Zekrom is quite one dimensional aside from its two main sets and there isn't much room for variance.
  • Zekrom can run a Choice Band Tough Claws set with Bolt Strike, Dragon Hammer, Close Combat and another move. However, Zekrom likes being able to sweep teams and not being locked into moves. Due to its STABs having immunities
  • Fake Out on Galvanize can be run over Shell Smash for better revenge killing utility, but Zekrom loses the ability to set up which makes it weak and reduces its wallbreaking potency.
  • Dazzling can be run to lure priority users, but Zekrom does not enjoy losing out on the power of Adaptability or Galvanize.
  • Mention of Surge Surfer

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pixilate and Refrigerate users**: Kyurem-Black revenges all sets of Zekrom handily, while also resisting Galvanize Extreme Speed. Mega Diancie can also revenge Zekrom, but does not resist Extreme Speed so it must be wary of not being in KO range after Zekrom uses Shell Smash.

**Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix**: Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix are both resistant to Zekrom's STAB combination. Due to this and their all around good bulk, they are able to effectively check Zekrom and potentially burn it, trap and beat it, or remove its item.

**Unaware**: Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom. Adaptability handily beats every Unaware in the tier except for Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, however. Mention examples of Unaware mons that beat it

**Shedinja**: Zekrom rarely carries coverage for Shedinja, so Shedinja walls most Zekrom sets in the tier.

**Ground-types**: Mega Swampert and Primal Groudon can check unboosted Zekrom. However, they must be wary after a Shell Smash, as Zekrom can OHKO them with its Z move from the Adaptability set. Primal Groudon can run Misty Surge prior to Primal Reversion to circumvent this for a short period of time.

**Status**: It is important to keep Zekrom away from being Poisoned, Burned or put to Sleep as all three of these status moves can heavily reduce Zekrom's capabilities.

Moves
========

Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and speed Speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost, such as Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y. No other setup move boosts both of Zekrom's offensive stats, and the speed boost is vital for outspeeding faster opponents. Bolt Strike in conjunction with Life Orb 2HKOs anything that does not resist it and OHKOs anything weak to it. In particular, it 2HKOs Mega Audino and Registeel while OHKOing Yveltal, Mega Gyarados,(AC) and Primal Kyogre. Without Life Orb, Bolt Strike still OHKOs Water-types and Flying-types. Draco Meteor serves as the secondary STAB move of choice, OHKOing every relevant Dragon-type in the metagame after a Shell Smash unless they have Unaware. Taunt serves as an option to prevent Zekrom's targets from recovering health or using Topsy Turvy to neuter its sweeping potential. Taunt also helps vs Prankster Registeel, as it cannot Destiny Bond on Zekrom without being forced out next turn. Taunt stops Pokemon from using recovery moves and phazing moves, which helps facilitate Zekrom's sweep.

Core Enforcer serves as a more consistent STAB option due to not dropping Special Attack in addition to taking away Prankster from Pokemon that use it. However, it is weaker than Draco Meteor, meaning Zekrom will have a weaker Z move and miss some 2HKOs and OHKOs such as on Primal Groudon and Giratina. Clanging Scales can be used if a Soundproof Pokemon is being used to wall Impostered Zekrom. However, it drops Zekrom's defense, undermining its good physical bulk and leaving it more vulnerable to priority. Close Combat can be run over Taunt if Zekrom wishes to beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix; However, replacing Taunt drastically makes Zekrom's matchup vs versus Prankster Pokemon and other walls worse.

Rash boosts Zekrom's special attack to its fullest potential while taking away from Zekrom's Special Defense so its offensive capabilities aren't hindered while it can still take a physical attack in a pinch, which allows it to handle most forms of priority better. The special attack boost allows it to achieve better rolls on threats such as Primal Groudon and Ferrothorn, thus requiring less chip. Dragonium Z offers a one-time nuke, hitting many targets hard as well as OHKOing Zygarde-C and Giratina with no setup. Life Orb offers a more consistent boost in power at the cost of taking 10% of your health every turn, which may be detrimental as Zekrom is has a limit put on how many attacks it can use at the start of the game and leaves it more prone to being revenge killed. In addition to this, Life Orb allows Draco Meteor to OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C. Adaptability offers a boost in power to Zekrom's STAB moves, turning it into a powerful threat. Due to Zekrom's STAB moves 2HKOing most Pokemon with Adaptability, this makes it the best ability for Zekrom.

Usage Tips
========

Be sure to scout for moves which Zekrom does not appreciate before setting it up for a sweep - Setting up on a Pokemon with Core Enforcer or Spectral Thief is a bad move as they can neuter Zekrom's power while dealing damage, so it is wise to scout for these moves beforehand. Being burned is possibly the worst status condition for Zekrom due to halving the damage Bolt Strike does, so it is wise to avoid this scenario if possible. Scouting for Will-O-Wisp, Scald and Beak Blast will allow you to avoid unnecessary burns. If there is a check to Zekrom on the field, be sure to weaken or eliminate it beforehand so Zekrom can sweep. Eliminating Mega Diancie in particular is important, as it can revenge Zekrom very easily with no fear of being killed by Extreme Speed. Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino can cause trouble as well, as they can take a hit before doing whatever they wish to Zekrom. Prankster Haze and Destiny Bond also neuter Zekrom's chances of sweeping.

Set up on Pokemon you can force out, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados,(AC) and Primal Kyogre.(RP) Be and be wary of Zekrom's damage output. (This RP change is more suggestive, but improves the sentence fluency of the paragraph by combining two simple sentences into a compound one)While it hits hard, there are some Pokemon it Zekrom (it ambiguity) does not OHKO and as a result can cripple it with Knock Off, steal its boosts with Spectral Thief or damage it with Core Enforcer. Be sure that Zekrom will force out the opponent before setting it up or if they are at the range where Zekrom can KO them unboosted, as losing Zekrom's item by Knock Off, being hit by Core Enforcer or having your boosts stolen by Spectral Thief can put the game in the opponent's favor. Draco Meteor will not OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C if you do not have a Life Orb. Giratina and Zygarde-C can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play non-Life Orb Zekrom with caution.

Team Options

Electric Terrain is useful to boost for boosting (same tense as making and letting)the power of Zekrom's Bolt Strike,(AC) in addition to making Zekrom immune to sleep,(AC) and potentially eliminating Misty Terrain, and letting Zekrom use its Dragon-type attack of choice without being weakened. Zekrom also appreciates entry hazard support.(AP) -(RC) Spikes in particular is pretty helpful for chipping Ferrothorn and Steelix better than Stealth Rock does, and both hazards can KO Shedinja helping Zekrom's sweep. Zekrom appreciates Mega Diancie to lure in and potentially beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix with Fighting coverage or Ground coverage,(AC) respectively. for Mega Steelix specifically. Fur Coat Chansey is a good partner to Zekrom, as it walls all relevant variants of Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black, two Pokemon which revenge defeat Zekrom. Fur Coat Chansey can also help Imposterproof Zekrom in a pinch. If you are using Life Orb, you can run Z-Parting Shot on Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Giratina to further Zekrom's longevity if needed as well as providing a safe switch-in and a potential opportunity to set up due to Parting Shot lowering the opponent's offensive stats. Zekrom appreciates checks to Pixilate and Refrigerate users such as Flash Fire Steel-types, Ho-Oh and Fur Coat Chansey, as they revenge Zekrom handily. Pokemon such as Flash Fire Steel-types, Ho-Oh and Fur Coat Chansey can all fulfill this role.

Poison Heal sweepers such as Xerneas and Regigigas can pressure offensive teams heavily, which have many ways of dealing with Zekrom. In return, Zekrom deals massive damage to most of Xerneas and Regigigas' checks, such as Ho-Oh and Giratina. Ghost-types can also be used as a switch-in to Shedinja, which comes in on Zekrom for free most of the time. Unaware Ferrothorn, RegenVest or Unaware Mega Steelix, and Shedinja can Imposterproof this Zekrom set very reliably. Steel-types can help check the Dragon-,(AH) Fairy-,(AH)(AC) and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black.

Moves
========

Shell Smash is the best setup move for Zekrom, as it increases its offensive stats and speed in a single turn making it a very potent Pokemon to try and beat once it does this. The offensive boosts allow Zekrom to OHKO more Pokemon in general, as well as handle offensive teams better if it does find the opportunity to set up. There is no other move that boosts Zekrom's offensive stats and speed at once, which is why Shell Smash is the best fit. Extreme Speed outprioritizes has great priority than Pranksters and does deals good damage to every Prankster Pokemon that does not resist it. It also shares priority with other Extreme Speeders, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-Black, but only outspeeds opposing Extreme Speeders when boosted. Boomburst handles Pokemon that have the ability Dazzling, as well as functioning as a hard hitting attack in general against anything that doesn't resist it. It hits physically defensive Pokemon hard, as well as achieving a 2HKO on Mega Audino with a Rash nature which Frustration and Extreme Speed do not. Boomburst is also Zekrom's most usable move when not clicking Extreme Speed. Judgment handles Dragon-types that resist Electric such as Giratina, Zygarde-C and Mega Garchomp.

Frustration is usable over Boomburst to hit physically defensive Pokemon harder than Extreme Speed or for when the priority isn't needed and PP should be preserved, but the loss in power from Boomburst is not appreciated. Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves. Nonetheless, Close Combat is still a fairly viable option and should be considered. Sunsteel Strike can be used to break Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja.(AP) -(RH) However, Zekrom largely needs all four of its primary moves, so it can be difficult to fit Sunsteel Strike on the set and should only be done when you require a way to beat the two aforementioned threats.

Set Details

Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter doesn't gain access to STAB Judgment. It also boosts the damage of Judgment to the equivalent of 120 BP Base Power, allowing an unboosted Zekrom to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Mega Rayquaza, Zygarde-Complete and Giratina. Galvanize boosts the power of Extreme Speed, Boomburst,(AC) and Frustration while also granting Zekrom STAB on these attacks. These assets assist it in killing Primal Kyogre, Yveltal,(AC) and Mega Gyarados. A Rash nature allows it to have as much power possible on Judgment and Boomburst, while also making sure Speed isn't lost and also allowing it to take less from Diancie-Mega's Extreme Speed and Kyurem-Black's Extreme Speed. The special attack boost allows Zekrom to hit as hard as it can using its strongest moves. A Rash nature also gives Zekrom great chances of OHKOing Primal Groudon and Mega Audino after a Shell Smash and Stealth Rock damage.

Usage Tips
========

Set Zekrom up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Celesteela. Take care to make sure that Zekrom's checks are weakened before it sweeps.(AP) -(RH) While checks are rare enough, they do exist and need to be scouted. These checks include Mega Steelix, Ferrothorn,(AC) and Mega Diancie. Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game, depending on the Pokemon. Evaluate the possibility of a one for one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond and decide if Zekrom is worth the trade or if Zekrom is important later on. However, Zekrom can also play mind games with Extreme Speed, so you may not have to make that decision at all. Use double switches or slow pivoting to get Zekrom in.(AP) -(RH) While Zekrom has good bulk and a nice defensive typing, it lacks recovery and is dependent on its item to sweep most teams. Zekrom is able to provide revenge killing utility to its team, which Adaptability cannot do. This allows it to pick off weakened offensive Pokemon as well as sufficiently weakened Prankster Pokemon. If you wish to KO a Pokemon that has any form of priority, ensure Zekrom outspeeds the Pokemon and if you do, click Extreme Speed. Otherwise, click Boomburst.

Team Options
========

Zekrom largely appreciates Electric Terrain support, as the added power turns its attacks into a frightening wallbreaker if being a sweeper is not needed at the moment. However, it also massively boosts Zekrom's sweeping power as well as its odds of beating Prankster Registeel lacking Encore, due to Boomburst 2HKOing it. Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support, which can assist in breaking Focus Sashes as well as chipping Pokemon into range of an attack. In particular, Stealth Rock or one layer of spikes Spikes lets Zekrom OHKO Primal Groudon after a Shell Smash with Judgment, as well as OHKO Mega Mewtwo Y with Boomburst after a Shell Smash. Entry hazards also OHKO Shedinja, helping Zekrom sweep. It appreciates Mega Mewtwo X's ability to force out Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, as the two can pressure the opposing team with double switches and U-Turn to sustain chip damage. This strategy works especially well if there are hazards on the opponent's side of the field. Zekrom also appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon, as well as being another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team. Zekrom appreciates Pixilate and Refrigerate checks, such as Fur Coat Chansey and Flash Fire Steel-types. Users of those two abilities can effectively revenge Zekrom, meaning it is crucial to have a way to beat them.

Zekrom has excellent synergy with offensive Poison Heal users, as they can provide trouble vs more offensive teams which Zekrom might have difficulty against. In return, Zekrom can 2HKO most of the checks to offensive Poison Heal users, such as Giratina, Celesteela,(AC) and Zygarde-C. Giratina, Ferrothorn, and Mega Steelix can all Imposterproof Zekrom due to resisting Normal and Electric, since Imposter will not have Draco Plate. Slow pivoting to get Zekrom in safely can be beneficial, as hard switching can risk Zekrom taking heavy damage, losing its item or being statused induced with status. Steel-types can help check the Dragon-,(AH) Fairy-,(AH)(AC) and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black. (Uh... this is the EXACT same sentence as the ending sentence of Adaptability Zekrom's Team Options section... You might want to change it up...)

Other Options
=============

Unfortunately, Zekrom is quite one dimensional aside from its two main sets and there isn't much room for variance. It can run a Choice Band Tough Claws set with Bolt Strike, Dragon Hammer, Close Combat and another move. However, Zekrom likes being able to sweep teams and not being locked into moves due to its STAB moves having immunities. Fake Out on Galvanize can be run over Shell Smash for better revenge killing utility, but Zekrom loses the ability to set up which makes it weak and reduces its wallbreaking potency. Dazzling can be run to lure priority users, but Zekrom does not enjoy losing out on the power of Adaptability or Galvanize. Surge Surfer is usable on Electric Terrain teams.(AP) -(RH) However, Zekrom often appreciates the power boost from both Electric Terrain and its ability of choice and will often have a boost in speed from Shell Smash, so it often won't prefer Surge Surfer.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pixilate and Refrigerate users**: Kyurem-Black revenges defeats (revenges doesn't seem appropriate in this context) all sets of Zekrom handily, while also resisting Galvanize Extreme Speed.

**Unaware**: Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom. Adaptability handily beats every Unaware in the tier except for Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, however.

**Status**: It is important to keep Zekrom away from being Poisoned poisoned, Burned burned or put to Sleep sleep as all three of these status moves can heavily reduce Zekrom's capabilities.

[OVERVIEW]

Zekrom's has a great offensive typing which is not resisted by many Pokemon in the meta. Its high offensive capabilities combined with its anti-meta typing STAB combination allow it to consistently beat standard sets of common defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Registeel, Zygarde-C, (comma) and Primal Kyogre. Combined with this Also, its resistances to Flying and Steel combined with its bulk allows it to stay in on various offensive Pokemon such as Kartana and offensive Necrozma-DM lacking Precipice Blades. Due to these factors as well as Zekrom being the most viable Electric-type in BH, Zekrom finds its a niche as an anti-meta Pokemon which that can capitalize on most teams not having a reliable way to beat it.

However, despite having some key great resistances, Dragon is one of the most prepared-(hyph)for defensive types in the metagame due to the presence of Giratina, Zygarde-C, (comma) and Mega Rayquaza. As such, Zekrom is frequently hit by Ice-type and Fairy-(hyph)type coverage, (comma) both of which are common. Because of this, Zekrom is also revenged often and revenge killed by -ate users. As most offensive teams will have multiple of these Pokemon, Zekrom finds difficulty in setting up vs on them. In addition to this, while other Steel-types are more common, Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix generally stop Zekrom cold. Zekrom is also unable to run vastly significantly different sets - One sets; one check to Zekrom will generally check all of Zekrom's sets. Zekrom's sets can be difficult to Imposterproof, making it difficult to fit onto a team. Zekrom generally finds itself struggling to sweep if it cannot find an opportunity to set up, as it lacks the sheer power that other Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo X have, making it more difficult to use.

Moves
========

Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and Speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost, such as including Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y. No other setup move boosts both of Zekrom's offensive stats, and the speed boost is vital for outspeeding faster opponents. Bolt Strike in conjunction with Life Orb 2HKOes anything that does not resist it and OHKOes anything weak to it. In particular, it 2HKOes Mega Audino and Registeel while OHKOing Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, (comma) and Primal Kyogre. Without Life Orb, Bolt Strike still OHKOes Water-types and Flying-types. Draco Meteor serves as the secondary STAB move of choice, OHKOing every relevant Dragon-type in the metagame after a Shell Smash unless they have Unaware. Taunt serves as an option to prevent Zekrom's targets from recovering health or using Topsy-(hyph)Turvy to neuter its sweeping potential. Taunt also helps vs against Prankster Registeel, as it cannot use Destiny Bond on Zekrom without being forced out next turn. Taunt stops Pokemon from using recovery moves and phazing moves, which helps facilitate Zekrom's sweep.

Core Enforcer serves as a more consistent STAB option due to not dropping Special Attack in addition to taking away Prankster from Pokemon that use it. However, it is weaker than Draco Meteor, meaning Zekrom will have a weaker Z move Z-Move and miss some 2HKOs and OHKOs such as on Primal Groudon and Giratina. Clanging Scales can be used if a Soundproof Pokemon is being used to wall Impostered Zekrom. However, it drops Zekrom's Defense, undermining its good physical bulk and leaving it more vulnerable to priority. Close Combat can be run over Taunt if Zekrom wishes to beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix; however, replacing Taunt drastically makes Zekrom's matchup vs versus Prankster Pokemon and other walls drastically worse.

Set Details
========

A Rash nature boosts Zekrom's Special Attack to its fullest potential while taking away from Zekrom's Special Defense so its offensive capabilities and ability to take priority attacks aren't hindered while it can still take a physical attack in a pinch, which allows it to handle most forms of priority better. Life Orb offers a more consistent boost in power and lets Draco Meteor OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C at the cost of taking 10% of your health recoil every turn, which may be detrimental as because Zekrom is then has a limit put on how many attacks it can use at the start of the game and leaves it is more prone to being revenge killed. In addition to this, Life Orb allows Draco Meteor to OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C. Adaptability offers a boost in power to boosts Zekrom's STAB moves, turning it into a powerful threat that can 2HKO most Pokemon. Due to Zekrom's STAB moves 2HKOing most Pokemon with Adaptability, this makes it the best ability for Zekrom.

Usage Tips
========

Be sure to scout for moves which that Zekrom does not appreciate, (comma) including power-neutering ones like Core Enforcer and Spectral Thief, before setting it up for a sweep - Setting up on a Pokemon with Core Enforcer or Spectral Thief is a bad move as they can neuter Zekrom's power while dealing damage, so it is wise to scout for these moves beforehand. Eliminating Mega Diancie in particular is important, as it can revenge kill Zekrom very easily with no fear of being killed by Extreme Speed. Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino can cause trouble as well, as they can take a hit before doing whatever they wish to Zekrom. Prankster Haze and Destiny Bond also neuter Zekrom's chances of sweeping.

Set up on Pokemon you that Zekrom can force out, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, (comma) and Primal Kyogre. Be wary of Zekrom's damage output. While it hits hard, there are some Pokemon that it does not OHKO and as a result can cripple it with Knock Off, steal its boosts with Spectral Thief or damage it with Core Enforcer can retaliate with a crippling move like Knock Off, Spectral Thief, or Core Enforcer. Be sure that Zekrom will force out the opponent foe by threatening to KO unboosted before setting it up or if they are at the range where Zekrom can KO them unboosted, as losing Zekrom's item by Knock Off, being hit by Core Enforcer or having your boosts stolen by Spectral Thief can put the game in the opponent's favor foes can otherwise use the chance to attack with a crippling move. Draco Meteor will not OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C if you do not have a without Life Orb. Giratina and Zygarde-C can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play non-Life Orb Z-Move Zekrom with caution.

Zekrom appreciates having Mega Diancie to lure in and potentially beat Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix with Fighting coverage or Ground Fighting- or Ground-type coverage for Mega Steelix specifically. Fur Coat Chansey is a good partner to Zekrom, as it walls all relevant variants of Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black, two Pokemon which that revenge kill Zekrom. Shell Smash is the best setup move for Zekrom, as it increases its offensive stats and Speed in a single turn making it a very potent Pokemon to try and beat once it does this. The offensive boosts allow Zekrom to OHKO more Pokemon in general, (comma) as well as better handle offensive teams better if it does find the opportunity to set up. There is no other move that boosts Zekrom's offensive stats and speed at once, which is why Shell Smash is the best fit. Extreme Speed outprioritizes Pranksters moves and does good damage to every Prankster Pokemon that does not resist it. It also shares priority with other Extreme Speeders, users such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-Black, but only outspeeds opposing Extreme Speeders goes first when boosted. Boomburst handles Pokemon that have the ability Dazzling, (comma) as well as functioning and funtions as a hard-(hyph)hitting attack in general, (comma) notably 2HKOing Mega Audino unlike Frustration against anything that doesn't resist it. It hits physically defensive Pokemon hard, as well as achieving a 2HKO on Mega Audino with a Rash nature which Frustration and Extreme Speed do not. Boomburst is also Zekrom's most usable move when not clicking Extreme Speed. Judgment handles Dragon-types that resist Electric such as Giratina, Zygarde-C, (comma) and Mega Garchomp. (per) as well as other Pokemon that resist Electric like Primal Groudon and Mega Swampert In addition to this, it hits Pokemon that resist or are immune to Electric for decent damage, such as Primal Groudon and Mega Swampert. Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter doesn't gain access to STAB Judgment. It also boosts the damage of Judgment to the equivalent of 120 BP Base Power, allowing an unboosted Zekrom to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Mega Rayquaza, Zygarde-Complete Zygarde-C, and Giratina. Galvanize boosts the power of Extreme Speed, Boomburst, (comma) and Frustration while also granting Zekrom STAB on these attacks. These assets assist it in killing KOing Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, (comma) and Mega Gyarados. A Rash nature allows it to have as much power possible on Judgment and Boomburst, (comma) while also making sure Speed isn't lost and also allowing it to take less from Diancie-Mega's Extreme Speed and Kyurem-Black's Extreme Speed less damage is taken from Mega Diancie's and Kyurem-B's Extreme Speed. The special attack boost allows Zekrom to hit as hard as it can using its strongest moves. A Rash nature also gives Zekrom great chances of OHKOing Primal Groudon and Mega Audino after a Shell Smash and Stealth Rock damage.

However, Zekrom can also play mind games with Extreme Speed, so you may not have to make that decision at all. Use double switches or slow pivoting to get Zekrom in; (semi) while it - While Zekrom has good bulk and a nice defensive typing, it lacks recovery and is dependent on its item to sweep most teams. Galvanize Zekrom is able to also provide revenge killing utility to its team, which Adaptability cannot do. This allows it to picking off weakened offensive Pokemon as well as sufficiently weakened Prankster Pokemon. If you wish to KO a Pokemon that has any form of priority, ensure Zekrom outspeeds the Pokemon and if you do, click Extreme Speed. Otherwise, click Boomburst.

Zekrom largely appreciates Electric Terrain support, as the added power turns its attacks into a frightening wallbreaker if being a sweeper is not needed at the moment. However, it also massively boosts Zekrom's sweeping power as well as its odds of beating Prankster Registeel lacking Encore, (comma) due to Boomburst 2HKOing it. Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support, which can assist in breaking Focus Sashes as well as chipping Pokemon into KO range of an attack. In particular, Stealth Rock or one layer of Spikes beats Shedinja and lets +2 Zekrom OHKO Primal Groudon after a Shell Smash with Judgment, (comma) as well as and OHKO Mega Mewtwo Y with Boomburst after a Shell Smash. Entry hazards also OHKO Shedinja, helping Zekrom sweep. It Zekrom appreciates Mega Mewtwo X's ability to force out Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, as the two can pressure the opposing team with double switches and U-turn to sustain chip damage. This strategy works especially well if there are hazards on the opponent's side of the field. Zekrom also appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon, (comma) as well as being and be another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team. Zekrom appreciates Pixilate and Refrigerate checks, such as Fur Coat Chansey and Flash Fire Steel-types. Users of those two abilities can effectively revenge kill Zekrom, meaning it is crucial to have a way to beat them.

Zekrom has excellent synergy with offensive Poison Heal users, as they can provide trouble vs more offensive teams which that Zekrom might have difficulty against. Slow pivoting to get Zekrom in safely can be beneficial, as hard switching can risk Zekrom taking heavy damage, losing its item, (comma) or being statused. Dazzling can be run to lure priority users, but Zekrom does not enjoy losing out on the power of Adaptability or Galvanize. Surge Surfer is usable on Electric Terrain teams, (comma) but - However, Zekrom often appreciates the power boost from both Electric Terrain and its ability of choice and will often have a boost in speed from Shell Smash, (comma) anyway so it often won't prefer Surge Surfer.

Checks and Counters

(put a line break between each section)
**Pixilate and Refrigerate users**: Kyurem-Black revenges all sets of Zekrom handily, kills all Zekrom sets handily while also resisting Galvanize Extreme Speed. Mega Diancie can also revenge kill Zekrom, (comma) but does not resist Extreme Speed, (comma) so it must be wary of not avoid being in KO range after Zekrom uses Shell Smash.
**Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix**: Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix are both resistant to Zekrom's STAB combination. Due to this and their all around good bulk, they are able to effectively check Zekrom and potentially burn it, trap and beat it, or remove its item.
**Unaware**: Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom. Adaptability handily beats every Unaware user in the tier except for Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, however.
**Shedinja**: Zekrom rarely carries coverage for Shedinja, so Shedinja walls most Zekrom sets in the tier.
**Ground-types**: Mega Swampert and Primal Groudon can check unboosted Zekrom. However, they must be wary after a Shell Smash, as Zekrom can OHKO them with its Z move Z-Move from the Adaptability set. Primal Groudon can run Misty Surge prior to Primal Reversion to circumvent this for a short period of time.
**Status**: It is important to keep Zekrom away from being poisoned, burned, (comma) or put to sleep, (comma) as all three of these status moves conditions can heavily reduce Zekrom's capabilities offensive presence.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Being burned is possibly the worst status condition for Zekrom due to halving the damage Bolt Strike does, so it is wise to avoid this scenario if possible. Scouting for Will-O-Wisp, Scald, (comma) and Beak Blast will allow you to avoid unnecessary burns. If there is a check to Zekrom on the field, be sure to weaken or eliminate it beforehand so Zekrom can sweep.

Electric Terrain is useful to boost for boosting the power of Zekrom's Bolt Strike in addition to making Zekrom immune to sleep and potentially eliminating Misty Terrain, letting Zekrom use its Dragon-type attack of choice without being weakened. Zekrom also appreciates entry hazard support; (semi) - Spikes in particular is pretty helpful for chipping Ferrothorn and Steelix better than Stealth Rock does, and both hazards can KO Shedinja helping to help Zekrom's sweep. Fur Coat Chansey can also help Imposterproof Zekrom in a pinch. If you are using Life Orb, you can run Z-Parting Shot on Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Giratina to further Zekrom's longevity if needed as well as providing provide a safe switch-in and a potential opportunity to set up due to Parting Shot lowering the opponent's offensive stats. Zekrom appreciates checks to Pixilate and Refrigerate users, as they revenge Zekrom kill it handily. Pokemon such as Flash Fire Steel-types, Ho-Oh, (comma) and Fur Coat Chansey can all fulfill this role.

Poison Heal sweepers such as Xerneas and Regigigas can heavily pressure offensive teams heavily, which have many ways of dealing with Zekrom. In return, Zekrom deals massive damage to most of Xerneas's and Regigigas's checks, such as Ho-Oh and Giratina. Ghost-types can also be used as a switch-in to Shedinja, which comes in on Zekrom for free most of the time. Unaware Ferrothorn, RegenVest or Unaware Mega Steelix, and Shedinja can Imposterproof this Zekrom set very reliably. Steel-types can help check the Dragon, Fairy Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black.

Judgment also helps Zekrom beat Imposter, as Imposter users generally lacks a Plate, (comma) which allows Zekrom to hit it them super effectively while Imposter they cannot.

Frustration is usable over Boomburst to hit physically defensive Pokemon harder than Extreme Speed or for when the priority isn't needed and PP should be preserved, but the loss in power from Boomburst is not appreciated. Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, (comma) and Sunsteel Stirke is an option to beat Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves. Nonetheless, Close Combat is still a fairly viable option and should be considered. Sunsteel Strike can be used to break Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja - However, Zekrom largely needs all four of its primary moves, so it can be difficult to fit Sunsteel Strike on the set and should only be done when you require a way to beat the two aforementioned threats.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Set Zekrom up on Pokemon it forces out, such as Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Celesteela. Take care to Make sure that Zekrom's checks are weakened before it sweeps; (semi) while they're - While checks are rare enough, they do exist and need to be scouted. These checks include Mega Steelix, Ferrothorn, (comma) and Mega Diancie. Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game, depending on the Pokemon.; (semi) you should carefully evaluate the possibility of a one for one one-for-one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond and decide if Zekrom is worth the trade or if Zekrom is important later on.

Team Options
========

In return, Zekrom can 2HKO most of the checks to offensive Poison Heal users, such as Giratina, Celesteela, (comma) and Zygarde-C. Giratina, Ferrothorn, and Mega Steelix can all Imposterproof Zekrom due to resisting Normal and Electric, since Imposter will not have Draco Plate. Slow pivoting to get Zekrom in safely can be beneficial, as hard switching can risk Zekrom taking heavy damage, losing its item, (comma) or being statused. Steel-types can help check the Dragon, Fairy Dragon-, Fairy-, and Ice-types that Zekrom may have trouble with, such as Mega Diancie and Kyurem-Black.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Unfortunately, Zekrom is quite one dimensional aside from its two main sets and there isn't much has little room for variance outside of its two main sets. It can run a Choice Band Tough Claws set with Bolt Strike, Dragon Hammer, Close Combat, (comma) and another move. However, Zekrom likes being able to sweep teams and not being locked into moves due to its STAB moves having immunities. Fake Out on Galvanize can be run over Shell Smash for better revenge killing utility, but Zekrom loses the ability to set up, (comma) which makes it weak and reduces its wallbreaking potency.

Moves

Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and Speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost, including Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y. Taunt serves as an option to prevent Zekrom's targets from recovering health or using Topsy-Turvy to neuter its sweeping potential, and Taunt also helps against Prankster Registeel, preventing it from using as it cannot use Destiny Bond on Zekrom without being forced out next turn.

Set Details
========

A Rash nature boosts Zekrom's Special Attack to its fullest potential while taking away from Zekrom's Special Defense so its offensive capabilities and ability to take priority attacks aren't hindered. The Special Attack boost allows it to achieve better rolls on threats such as Primal Groudon and Ferrothorn, thus requiring less chip damage.

Usage Tips
========

Be sure to scout for moves that Zekrom does not appreciate, including power-neutering ones like Core Enforcer and Spectral Thief, before setting it up for a sweep. Being burned is possibly the worst status condition for Zekrom due to halving because it halves the damage Bolt Strike does, so it is wise to avoid this scenario if possible.

Note that Draco Meteor will not OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C without Life Orb and that they Giratina and Zygarde-C can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play Z-Move Zekrom with caution.

Team Options
========

Electric Terrain is useful for boosting the power of Zekrom's Bolt Strike in addition to making Zekrom immune to sleep and potentially eliminating Misty Terrain, letting Zekrom use its Dragon-type attack of choice without being weakened. Zekrom also appreciates entry hazard support; Spikes in particular is pretty helpful for chipping Ferrothorn and Steelix better than Stealth Rock does, and both hazards can KO Shedinja to help Zekrom's sweep. Fur Coat Chansey can also help Imposter(-)proof Zekrom in a pinch.

Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, (comma) and Sunsteel Stirke Strike is an option to beat Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves.

Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter users don't doesn't gain access to STAB Judgment. It also boosts the damage of Judgment to the equivalent of 120 Base Power, allowing an unboosted Zekrom to 2HKO Dragon-types such as Mega Rayquaza, Zygarde-C, and Giratina. Galvanize boosts the power of Extreme Speed, Boomburst, (comma) and Frustration while also granting Zekrom STAB on these attacks, assisting These assist it in KOing Primal Kyogre, Yveltal, and Mega Gyarados. A Rash nature allows it to have as much power possible on Judgment and Boomburst, (comma) while also making sure Speed isn't lost and less damage is taken from Mega Diancie's and Kyurem-B's Extreme Speed. A Rash nature also gives Zekrom great chances of OHKOing Primal Groudon and Mega Audino after a Shell Smash and Stealth Rock damage.

Usage Tips
========

Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game, depending on the Pokemon(. Get rid of the period); (semi) you should carefully evaluate the possibility of a one-for-one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond.

========

Zekrom largely appreciates Electric Terrain support, as the added power turns it into a frightening wallbreaker if being a sweeper is not needed at the moment. However, it also massively boosts Zekrom's sweeping power as well as its odds of beating Prankster Registeel lacking Encore(,) due to Boomburst 2HKOing allowing Boomburst to 2HKO it. Zekrom appreciates entry hazard support(,) which can assist in breaking Focus Sashes as well as chipping Pokemon into KO range of an attack. Zekrom also appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon and be another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team.

In return, Zekrom can 2HKO most of the checks to offensive Poison Heal users(,) such as Giratina, Celesteela, and Zygarde-C. Giratina, Ferrothorn, and Mega Steelix can Imposter(-)proof Zekrom due to resisting Normal and Electric, since Imposter will not have Draco Plate and will therefore have all of its moves be converted to Electric-type.

=============

Unfortunately, Zekrom has little room for variance outside of its two main sets. It can run a Choice Band Tough Claws set with Bolt Strike, Dragon Hammer, Close Combat, and another move. However, Zekrom likes being able to sweep teams and not being locked into moves due to its STAB moves having immunities. the prevalence of Pokemon that are immune to its STAB moves.

===================

**Unaware**: Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom. Adaptability handily beats every Unaware user in the tier metagame except for Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, however.

Please be careful and implement all changes, as there aren't many and some are really small (hyphens, commas) so they'll be easy to miss if you're not careful!

As such, Zekrom is frequently hit by Ice(-) and Fairy-type coverage(,) and revenge killed by -ate users. As most offensive teams will have multiple of these Pokemon, Zekrom finds difficulty in setting up on them. In addition, though uncommon, while other Steel-types are more common, Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix generally stop Zekrom cold. Zekrom is also unable to run vastly significantly different sets; one check to Zekrom will generally check all of Zekrom's sets. Zekrom's sets Zekrom can be difficult to Imposter(-)proof, making it difficult to fit onto a team. Zekrom generally finds itself struggling to sweep if it cannot find an opportunity to set up, as it lacks the sheer power that other Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo X have, making it more difficult to use.

Moves
========

Shell Smash is the best setup move for this set, as it boosts both offensive stats and Speed. This lets Zekrom OHKO many Pokemon after a boost, including Mega Audino and Mega Mewtwo Y.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Note that Draco Meteor will not OHKO Giratina and Zygarde-C without Life Orb and that they Giratina and Zygarde-C can hit back with a Core Enforcer as well, so it's important to play Z-Move Zekrom with caution.

Team Options
========

Fur Coat Chansey can also help Imposter(-)proof Zekrom in a pinch.

Moves
========

Close Combat can be used to break Ferrothorn and Mega Steelix, (comma) and Sunsteel Stirke Strike is an option to beat Unaware Mega Audino and Shedinja. However, it can be difficult to find space on the set, as Zekrom generally requires all four of its moves.

Set Details

Draco Plate allows Zekrom to gain STAB on Judgment while making sure Imposter users don't doesn't gain access to STAB Judgment. hey im not playing a gp/qc role here, but i was going to upload this and thought some of the structure could be reworked and some minor points could still be added:

Bolt Strike in conjunction with Life Orb 2HKOes anything that does not resist it and OHKOes anything weak to it. I feel like the flow of this para could work better, it didn't register to me that it was unboosted for the second one. I think instead of just adding "unboosted", the performance of the moves unboosted could be discussed first and then how shell smash turns them all into key ohkos second. Then taunt at the end

The Special Attack boost allows it to achieve better rolls on threats such as Primal Groudon and Ferrothorn, thus requiring less chip damage.
and its own imposter, variance is ~5% hp more on average. ditto for the galvan one

Playing around Prankster Destiny Bond or Prankster Encore is a mind game, depending on the Pokemon you should carefully evaluate the possibility of a one-for-one trade if Zekrom cannot beat the Pokemon with Prankster Destiny Bond.
this seems a bit like a run on sentence

Zekrom also appreciates Mega Garchomp's ability to beat Primal Groudon and be another difficult Pokemon to switch into due to the two often not being prepared for on the same team.
should mention the risk of doubling down on ice/dragon/fairy weaknesses

Imposter(-)proof
remove brackets

Galvanize sets have a hard time breaking through most Unaware Pokemon, while Unaware Pokemon such as Mega Audino are free to do as they please versus Galvanize Zekrom.
You mention this afew times in the para but also lead with the abilty for zek to 2hko dino unboosted so prob should rephrase it to make it seem less slanted towards dino (or remove the 2hko part)

thanks
