So that's the end of the voting stage for Week 6. Sorry for being late but I have been kind of busy these last days.

I will drop my votes here too:

PhantomHurious

To make a long story short, I will draw the final Table with all the votes and I will highlight the ones that have to battle for this week :]

Thus, for Week 6 of BotW we have:

85percent BotW.PNGvssketchy ecchi BotW.PNG

Please read carefully the rules of the thread. However, I will point out some things that I think are really important:

1) The battle is preferred to be done until Sunday, however, if more time is needed an extension could be granted.

2) Bo1 but it is optional to make it at Bo3 or whatever

3) Feel free to put clauses for yourselves (some cores, old gens...)

4) Let me know when do you want to battle and I will post it in this thread.

Alright, so me and 85percent had some really fun games, he won the SU set, while I took the ZU set after a lot of hax in the last match. For those unaware, SU is the unofficial tier below ZU, you can find a full list of usable mons here, and to give you an idea of what some of the more viable pokemon are you can look at what sits right below the usage cutoff here. I’ll talk a little about the games and the teams I used below.

Game 1 (ZU)
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7zu-906839060
https://pokepast.es/d52b3c4c36ed810b

This is a pretty straightforward magnet pull team. While Golem-A doesn’t have the same defensive utility as Probopass, it is much more reliable at trapping Bronzor and doesn’t have to rely on a z move. It also hits quite hard, capable or 2hkoing Gourgeist. Unfortunately, you can’t use kanto Golem alongside it, so Crustle fits in here to set rocks and check physically oriented mons, especially Bouffalant who can punish Bellossom with strength sap. Silvally-Water checks water types, like Swanna, and can defog on a most popular stealth rockers. Bellossom and Muk are bulky set up sweepers that take advantage of magnet pull and they have great defensive synergy. Scarf Mime makes up for the lack of speed on the team.

This game ended up being super close, Beheeyem and Swanna were the scariest things on team preview and I think if Beh had been preserved I would’ve had more trouble going forward. Muk and Bellossom both have a hard time setting up against this team with Beheeyem & Golem and Swanna & Abomasnow able kill them outright but after the latter two died Bellossom was almost able to sweep, but eventually died to toxic.

Game 2 (ZU)
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7zu-906846998
https://pokepast.es/1704222bd7805b39

This is a volt-turn team centered around Ninjask and special Electivire. Ninjask requires a lot of support to keep hazards off, but when it can get in safely, it’s really difficult to face. Special Electivire beats a lot of its common switch-ins like Golem and Gourgeist. Golem sets rocks and checks a ton of physical attackers. I have double removal in Silvally-Water and Komala to keep rocks off the best I can and Band Muk can do a good job of breaking and soft checking things like Combuksen.

Shiftry is a really big threat to this team, the only thing going for me is it can’t come in on anything safely and I have mind games of going to either Silvally and u-turning out or Muk. I got really lucky on turn 11 when my opponent got a low roll and didn’t kill Ninjask (it had a 75% chance to kill). I actually assumed Ninjask lived and just went for leech life.

Game 3 (ZU)
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7zu-906853360
https://pokepast.es/a65d726bf3ffe7d4

This is a fun team built around rest talk phasing Riolu. Bulky spike-stack can be really inconsistent like here when facing defog Altaria. Gourgeist and Munchlax form the basic defensive core for the team here, while Mawile and Trubbish help out with hazards while checking Toucannon, Shiftry, and Combusken among others. Riolu is the star of the show when it decides not to roll rest off of sleep talk. It has enough bulk to take a hit or two while it sets up to spam sleep talk. Swords dance Z me-first Pinsir is a really dangerous set up sweeper. It outspeeds every scarfer up to base 110s at +2 and has good natural bulk to take some priority. Close combat and stone edge give you great neutral coverage without missing out on much as a stab x-scissor is the same base power as close combat.

In this game I wasn’t able to do anything with spikes, because Altaria can defog for free on most of my mons. Pinsir almost swept, but I lost a 50/50 and went for Z me-first on Combusken expecting protect. 85 wasn’t able to do much to my team either and eventually my pokemon were a bit more resilient since they all had recovery.

Game 4 (SU)
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7zu-906884937
https://pokepast.es/65f39f446847ab42

So, this game wasn’t a great outing for the home team. Trick room is a really obvious pick for SU since it can use pretty much all the mons ZU trick room would use so this was something I should’ve considered more. My team is really offensive and features some cool mons like offensive rocks Relicanth, rest talk Klang, and sd Silvally-ground.

Game 5 (SU)
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7zu-906887890
https://pokepast.es/48260d429428d612

This team is much more balanced, I have a defensive core of Gourgeist-Large and Sliggoo which handles a lot of the big SU threats like Marowak, Slaking, Silvally, Fraxure, Monfeno, Simisear, Raichu, and Zebstrika to name a few. Krokorok sets rocks for the team and can discourage psychic moves from Beheeyem. Nasty plot Monferno is a really cool mon for SU, Z focus blast lets it hit Hakamo through bulletproof. Zebstrika and Scarf Silvally form a little volt-turn core. Zebstrika is one of the fastest relevant threats in SU and I think Silvally is easily the best choice scarf user available.

This game was a lot closer than the last. Sliggoo proved to be very useful here, but unfortunately I didn’t hit outrage from sleep talk and got swept by Huntail after valiantly trying to outpredict 85s sucker punches.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I think SU is a really cool tier that deserves more love, to anyone interested in learning more about SU, join the discord for resources and setting up battles.

WOW!! Great games and thanks for sharing some SU teams + experience :]. Descriptions were amazing and I am pretty sure they will be useful for any newcomer.

I am so thrilled to see which will be the new competitors for Week 7. Thus, you may now vote for this incoming week!

Remember that you cannot vote both 85percent and sketchy ecchi this week :].
