- Earth Power
- Air Slash / Dazzling Gleam
- Synthesis / Healing Wish / Rest
[SET COMMENTS]
Shaymin is an effective wallbreaker in the ZU tier because of its great Speed and coverage. Earth Power provides the coverage needed to hit and Poison- and Steel-types like Hisuian Sneasel and Magneton. Air Slash can be used to hit Grass- and Fighting-types like Arboliva and Virizion; Dazzling Gleam, alternatively, can hit Fighting-types more reliably while also nailing Dark-types like Mabosstiff. Healing Wish can be used to give a teammate another chance at setting up and sweeping, like Braviary and Lurantis. Rest is an alternative to Synthesis that capitalizes on Natural Cure, fully recovering Shaymin before it switches out to offset the sleep induced. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents Shaymin from getting worn down by entry hazard chip as it pivots in and out throughout a game. Choice Scarf can be used to outpace other Choice Scarf users, like Mesprit and Passimian, as well as provide fast Healing Wish support to teammates if needed. Life Orb maximizes its damage output, allowing it to secure 2HKOs on Mesprit and Porygon2 after hazard chip if it gets the Seed Flare drop, and is used with either Synthesis or Rest to offset the recoil damage. Choice Specs similarly is used to output more damage, comfortably 2HKOing offensive Arboliva and OHKOing Virizion. Tera Ground boosts the damage of Earth Power while removing the weakness to Fire, allowing it to tank an Eruption from Tera Fire Typhlosion. Tera Fairy is used with Dazzling Gleam to pick up KOs against foes like Passimian and Virizion more comfortably.
Offensive Shaymin is an especially unique and versatile tool for bulky offense and offense alike. Leveraging its great natural power and Speed, Shaymin can punch holes in common walls like Lanturn, Mesprit, and Regirock; with Special Defense drops from Seed Flare, Shaymin can even break through Porygon2 and Snorlax with ease. Teammates that can benefit most from this wear-and-tear include setup sweepers like Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Qwilfish, and Oricorio, which can threaten to clean late-game once Shaymin has worn the opposition down. Likewise, partners like Choice Band Floatzel and Passimian can lure in walls like Mesprit and Palossand for Shaymin to fire off devastating Seed Flare's. While Synthesis and Rest Shaymin sets can generally stay healthy, they do struggle with entry hazard chip damage unless they're using Heavy-Duty Boots, making teammates like Hitmontop and Sandslash valuable for keeping hazards off their side of the field. Stealth Rock setters like Mesprit and Regirock make for great teammates, with the former providing safe entry points for Shaymin with U-turn and the latter checking Fire-types like Charizard and Typhlosion. Recipients of Healing Wish Shaymin sets, like Choice Specs Typhlosion and Choice Band Floatzel, appreciate a second chance to fire off their massive STAB attacks to both break and clean games.
