Brace yourselves, a TL;DR post about the absence of Dark Gym is coming...

I really don't believe no-one has figured out already the reason for the absence of a Dark-type gym.

.....

TL;DR: Dark is called Evil in Japanese, so there can't be an Evil leader.
This is all really dumb reasoning

Our three (3) dark type trainers amount to a chill rocker, a woman whose biggest defining feature is this quote
"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites. I like your style. You understand what's important. Go on — — the Champion is waiting."

and a gambler who takes things as they come

None of these are ever mentioned, referred to and/or despised for training "evil" pokemon and no other trainer (even the villains) are either.

Torchic isn't in the dex
So even if we get it through event,it will only be registered in the national dex?
Also, can anyone link me to where the leaker is posting new info?thanks.

Brace yourselves, a TL;DR post about the absence of Dark Gym is coming...

I really don't believe no-one has figured out already the reason for the absence of a Dark-type gym.

Let's start with a little story. Gym leaders are believed to be the guardians of peace and quiet in their respective cities. When there's no challengers, they walk around helping every one in need, and fight off evil and criminal organizations.

Kanto is one of the oldest regions of the Pokémon World, and its gyms have a peculiarity: all gyms were first created, than organized in a League. That's why Koga, a Ninja, and Sabrina, who stole the title of official Gym of the city, are leaders, by sheer force. But Koga got tired of helping people out and decided to challenge the E4 and become a member of it.

All other regions have leagues that vote for Gym leaders, and decide whether someone can or cannot become a leader. This person should always be helpful and ready to take care of his/her city.

OTOH, E4 members are only the strongest trainers in the continent, they don't need to care about anyone. With the exception of the Champion, who is not technically part of E4 and generally flies everywhere to help Gym Leaders with their jobs, all the others only care about their business while waiting for challengers, be it training hard in mountains, writing a book, practicing Ninja techniques or sleeping.

"Why the hell are you telling this, if everyone knows it?"

Simply because Dark type is called "Evil" in Japanese. And since people who are specialist trainers share a strong link with their types, no organized league will allow someone so deeply entangled with Evil Pokémon to become responsible for the welfare of a city and its people.

That's not to say Dark trainers are evil, but they're generally selfish, egocentric and focused on improving their own power, rather than taking care of burned towers or of special sanctuaries. The same goes or Dark Pokémon. Absol is white and a Dark type, because it's a warrior of Light fighting among the shadows, bringing the destruction that renews everything.

(sorry for it, I'm really into the philosophical part of the in-game story)

TL;DR: Dark is called Evil in Japanese, so there can't be an Evil leader.
Giovanni was the gym leader of Viridian City in RBYFRLG, therefore your entire point about "no Evil leader blah blah blah" is invalid.

In Kanto, the gyms were founded first, then became official. Sabrina became one by defeating the previous leader, and appointed herself as the official gym in Saffron.

How do you know this. Sabrina's take over means nothing in this context

We were actually talking about DARK Gym Leaders/E4 members, which Giovanni did not specialize in :P
His point is thus: Dark types are called "Evil" in japan. Ergo, they do not want "evil" gym leaders

Please ignore that Dark types are not actually evil across the board, that we have dark type e4 members who are not seen as or act evil and rank higher as representatives of the region, and that Giovanni was evil anyway

Again, as far as we know, it doesn't exist. It doesn't even make sense for there to be a Z legendary, if you think about it. Xerneas represents life and Yveltal represents death and destruction; what could a counterpart to those possibly be?

Has there been any confirmation about how many pokemon are going to be there in the Kalos Pokedex all together?

Coastal & Central dexes had 150, Yveltal is 149 in the Mountain so it's not too much of a stretch to say 450

I read a cool idea of a mischievous third legendary that just wants to throw off the balance off Life/Destruction. Basically the opposite role of Rayquaza that maintained a balance between Kyogre and Groudon. This is in no way a prediction, just a cool theory lol

Edit: I read this many months ago and it's all speculation, just thought I'd share!
