  • Granbull is a very interestin 'mon, IMO - it's a physical fairy with intimidate.
My suggestion is Trick Room Granbull. Having it be a setter of that itself would give it a lot of a niche, and it could exploit the room itself with 45 base speed, tying with Conk. Flavorwise... well, it's a fairy in type if not in looks, they're meant to be tricky, right?
What about Technician Cloyster? It still hits physically with a stronger Ice Shard, but it can also make a special set with Frost Breath. It would be a little more unpredictable as a result.
Drizzle Lanturn would be an interesting abuser of its own weather with STAB Thunder and Scald. While it has less power than Politoed, it could be used more for its utility of Paralyze/Heal Bell than offensive presence.
I've been disappointed with the last few Theorymon ideas, so I'm going to start suggesting borderline broken things. Fur Coat Aromatisse would almost be like a Chansey that takes physical attacks instead. Prankster Gourgeist would be so good with all of the options it has to work with: Leech Seed, Will-O-Wisp, Destiny Bond, Disable, Trick, and Pain Split.

Both excellent suggestions, expect to see them slated in the future.

Thank you. So I guess you are okay with potentially overpowered suggestions as long as they are defensive buffs?
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
Actually, i don't think any of those two would be broken.
Ok, so I thought up two ideas:
° Snow Warning Kyurem (NOT -Black)
This allows it to come in and spam Blizzard freely while removing other weathers. Also, it makes sense flavor wise.
    ° Simple Slowking
I already nominated this, but I'd like to re-nominate it if that is ok!
    :]
Okay, so I guess suggestions go here and not through PM.
    1. Resuggesting Magic Bounce Musharna. You mentioned that it was a great idea but it seems to have disappeared. I have a feeling that it was because it wasn't on the wall :p
    2. Sheer Force Electivire. This gives it some extra oomph that it needs on Fire/Ice Punch, as well as indirectly more survivability as Thunder Punch becomes stronger than Wild Charge.
    En Passant
    En Passant
I wouldn't call it mindless. Electivire's main problem is that it lacks the power to back up its superb coverage, so this really is the best way to make it better.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
What i mean by mindless is that it offers nothing in the metagame other than just one more strong attacker. Electivire can check nothing due to its pathetic bulk and slow Speed, meaning it would only have use as a wallbreaker, of which we have plenty.
    En Passant
    En Passant
I wouldn't call 95 slow by any means, but you've got a point about us having wallbreakers already.
Another idea you'll probably ignore, but worth a shot anyway: Final Gambit Kangaskhan.

With Scrappy, base 105 HP, and Base 90 Speed, a Scarf set can, barring priority, perform a 1-for-1 trade against any mon with less than 414 HP.

    JayHankEdLyon
You're right, a Prankster user with Topsy Turvy is a terrible idea with no interesting implications for the meta whatsoever, the hell was I thinking?
    JayHankEdLyon
    JayHankEdLyon
Also, this coming from a guy who sees priority Defog and (lol) Tailwind on Salamence as "pretty fucking sweet".

In any case, Dirty Bum, you do realize the point is that it's scrappy and unstoppable, correct? Victini's Final Gambit is stopped by any ghost.

I see what you mean there, totally missed that. Still, it not really game changing, but I great idea.
Dragon Dance Nidoking for the next Theorymon? It would give him a reason to use his base 102 attack, and he has elemental punches, Earthquake, Poison Jab, Megahorn, Superpower, Sucker Punch, and a few more moves to back him up. Seeing him in the D rank is rather sad, so hopefully this kind of buff would push him to B rank at the least.

    Valmanway
    Whoops. I meant C- rank.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
I will consider it, though it's too offensive for my liking, without providing much to a team other than pure sweeping and wallbreaking potential.
    Valmanway
    Valmanway
Cool, thanks. And I'm beginning to understand what makes a good theorymon, so my next suggestion in the future will likely be a better one.
Maybe one day one of my Donphan ideas will hit the shelves.

Until then, I present simple Salamence.

It may seem like a plain old offensive boost, and in a sense, it could be, but simple is a two way street. God help you if you use Draco Meteor.

On the other hand, between Dragon Claw, Earthquake and Thunderfang @ +2, Salamence can get through a lot of problems.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
Rotom-W can still burn Donphan, making it useless, and Mega Venusaur still beats Donphan as Sludge Bomb will eventually poison it, and Venusaur has two means of recovery, Leech Seed and Synthesis, while Donphan none.
    Dilasc
Burnt Donphan can still setup rocks and spin and knock off assuredly.

As for Venus, Sludge Bomb is a 4HKO even with a poisoning sp Donphan can still setup rocks and spin.

The point is mostly to guarantee set up or hazard clearing. Even still, Rhyperior or Rhydon would use these abilities better.
    Dilasc
Sure the Rhy-mons cant spin or use Knock Off, but if anticipating a burn, it could always carry Sword Dance and Venusaur scores a 9HKO with Sludge unless it poisons.

Also, Rhy can Dragon tail against these Pokemon who will almost definitely have to switch for some added shuffle chipping.
Hey, alexwolf, anyways I'm going to make this somewhat short, Thoerymon idea:
    +Refridgerate Kyurem-Normal
Refridgerate Kyurem isn't just a mindless offensive buff because Kyurem is supposed to be this legendary powerful ice legend. for fucks sake it's dex entry in the games said it EATS people.
    Monte Cristo
I think that using it's great ruthless strength and ice mastery it should be able to convert normal moves into ice type.
    Monte Cristo
Kyurem is legal for this since it's only C+ in the rankings and is often outclassed by it's big brother Kyu-B aside from niche pressure stalling.
    How about Multiscale Feraligatr?
Patches up it's lousy defenses, and gives it time to set up.
Hey, how does Heal Order Metagross sound?
Blah blah great recovery need I say more?
Flavorwise, Gross is made of 4 smaller Beldums, so thats kinda like vespiquen controlling the combees
Hey, I've seen the thread of yours on victory road called "good cores". I would like to post one of my own cores that have been serving me well, Mega Gyarados + Gothitelle. Would it be possible for me to send you the core, and see if it's good enough?
OU Theorymon suggestion: Extreme Speed Raticate (I'm not joking). It could either use Swords Dance with Guts and Flame Orb to sweep, or use Choice Band + Hustle to be a great revenge killer (except for the accuracy issues).
When is the OU Theorymon ladder going to be updated with the new Theorymons?
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
I have made the request to the PS staff, i am waiting for a response.
    A few things:
    1. Topsy Turvy Tornadus-I (because it's otherwise completely outclassed by thundurus)
    2. Sand Stream Flygon (spdef boost, fastest setter, pokedex entry)
    3. Ghost-Normal Mega Banette/Banette (counter to ghost-fighting abuse, one weakness, 3 immunities, access to prankster will-o-wisp. Used to be a normal doll.)
    Reiga
    Reiga
I think rock is the type that get's the special defense boost in the sand and not ground.
    Hey there :3
I have a suggestion for the OU Theorymon:
    Staraptor/Adaptability:
Adaptability is basically a better reckless for Staraptor which will make Staraptor a whole lot better!

    Basic set:
    Staraptor @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Adaptability
    EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
    Jolly Nature
    - Brave Bird
    - Close Combat
    - U-turn
    - Double-Edge

    Hope you like it :D
    Dilasc
I'm pretty sure Star is better than C and that's a mindless offensive buff.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
    What he ^ said.
HI alexwolf =D, i would like to make an OU theorymon suggestion for articuno My suggestion is to: Give Articuno Mountaineer or Magic Guard, although magic guard might seem a bit op for a wall, at the same time, it still has a 4x weakness, tho i thought of that and if its a little to overpowered, wynaut (pun intended kek) give it mountaineer?
    OU Theorymon Suggestion: Dragon/Poison Goodra

With the said typing, Goodra gains the nifty niche of being a dragon with the ability to beat Fairies both offensively and defensively through its new typing that gives it STAB on Sludge Bomb.
    Idyll
    Idyll
This also gives it another move to use in the case that Draco Meteor is not favorable. In addition, it becomes a good VoltTurn sponge as it resists both pivot moves. The new typing also helps against Fighting-types in exchange for a weakness to ground types.
Simple Emboar could be a nice theorymon buff to the piggy. It can then utilize flame charge to fix its weak speed with the +2 speed boost it gives, alternatively it could go for a more defensive set with bulk up/curse- the latter has the bonus of allowing you to underspeed any aegislash if wanted.
    Pipotchi
    Pipotchi
Alternatively, it can use Work up to become a scary mixed attacker in a single turn. Personally I would be most interested to see a mixed set with something like Work Up ,Brick Break, Scald and Flare Bitz.
Power-Up Punch could make a cool double boosting set with flame charge too. The downside is Brick Break/Hammer Arm has to be used over Superpower
I'm definitely not getting an originality prize for this retype, but Electric/Dark Luxray is a very good defensive typing this Gen, especially since it already has Intimidate.
    escarlata
    escarlata
We all know how good Electric and Dark are this gen defensively, resisting the omnipresent Ghost and Flying types. With an added dark type, Luxray can switch into any Aegislash thanks to Intimidate, not getting 2HKOed even with Sacred Sword, with only HP investment. Similarly, it switch into other top tier threats like Talonflame, Deoxys-S and Thunderus after/lacking Superpower, with relative impunity.
    escarlata
    escarlata
With a better main STAB, it also doesn't have to kill itself with recoil anymore which means it can run its Flame Orb set more reliably as well (if there is any reason to). With it now having its defensive merits, which makes it finally usable, it also fits into Volt Turn teams over Manectric as a Volt Switcher with Intimidate, which opens the Mega Slot for something else.
Now that Jirachi has been knocked down to D rank, the Steel/Fairy typing that everyone was hoping for at the beginning of XY should be put up for a vote on the Theorymon project.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
Yeah for sure, just waiting a few weeks for the ''omg this is just the add Fairy theorymon project'' notion to calm down.
For an OU theorymon, I was thinking along the lines of Shuckle+Recover, or Shuckle+Prankster. Shuckle has almost no viability and I feel a nice buff will help it out.
No Guard Toxicroak. He has so many moves that could benefit from No Guard: Dynamic Punch, Gunk Shot, Focus Blast, Stone Edge and maybe even High Jump Kick.
We don't have many offensive poison types in OU.
