"As long as you select a new minute when changing the clock, the seconds will reset to 0. You can count the seconds from there.

For example, if you change the clock from 13:00 to 13:01, the time will change to 13:01:00. However, if you change the clock at 13:00:16 and don't change the minute, it will remain unchanged at 13:00:16. You'd have to go from 13:00 to 13:01 and then back to 13:00 to reset the seconds." - OmegaDonut
