  1. Creative (and good) Movesets Mk II (READ THE OP FIRST)

I guess I can't really argue with that - if it works for you, great. It just doesn't seem like it would be more valuable than any number of other potent threats that you could place in that slot - especially since, based on July's stats, you're really only facing rain about 1/5 of the time. But...
  2. Creative (and good) Movesets Mk II (READ THE OP FIRST)

If you have time to pass +6 attack to Smeargle, you almost certainly have time to pass +2 speed. Anyone who's going to sit around and let you BP +6 attack to anything needs their head checked anyway - unless you've got a strategy based around it, in which case you are almost surely passing...
  3. Creative (and good) Movesets Mk II (READ THE OP FIRST)

If you absolutely must use BP recipient Smeargle for some reason, what's the point in trying to abuse priority and Technician? If Smeargle is receiving a +6 attack boost, he's almost surely at +2 or more speed and doesn't need it - why not run something more powerful like Return or Double Edge...
  4. What were you like when you first joined this forum?

I've been lurking every single day since I joined nearly 5 years ago - my only posts are from a couple topics I found reasonably interesting way back when, and even then I had a different username. I was, like most, immature and not knowledgeable and didn't have any idea what was going on. Now...
  5. Ask a Simple Question; Get a Simple Answer MK V: We're Back!

When using vitamins for EVs, they stop working once the Pokemon hits 100 EVs. If a Pokemon has 93 EVs in a stat and you use a vitamin in that stat, will it stop at 100 or will it have 103 EVs?
  6. Ask a Simple Question; Get a Simple Answer MK V: We're Back!

I believe you mean a Quiet nature. Rash is +SpA -SpD. Quiet is +SpA -Spe.
  7. General Metagame Discussion

That's needlessly complex for just stopping Venusaur. Obviously if you have Dugtrio, your priority is going to be killing the opponent's Ninetales regardless of whether they have Venusaur or not. Not to mention the fact that your strategy requires your own weather starter, and a very specific...
  8. Project Mono-Type: Water

As some other posters have said, Run, we need to make a decision as to the team type before we can go any further. Everybody has a decent understanding of Water's basic strengths and weaknesses. Everybody knows the most used Water Pokemon, and hopefully there are plenty of people who are...
  9. Project Mono-Type: Water

Psychic has serious issues with Tyranitar and Scizor, both in the top 5 of usage stats. Poison has to worry about everything with Earthquake, which is a ton of stuff, not to mention the now prominent Psychic types (Latis, Alakazam, Reuniclus, Jirachi, etc.). Ground vs. Water is more...
  10. Project Mono-Type: Water

The second half of this post highlights another one of water's fantastic attributes: It is not inherently/particularly weak to any of the metagame's top sweepers, bar NP Celebi, now that Thundurus is gone. Meanwhile, Rock, Ice, and Dark are all weak to Fighting, which, with Terrakion in the...
  11. Project Mono-Type: Water

I wasn't trying to imply with my comment that all monotype teams are easily swept by a single Pokemon that can abuse the team's weakness, merely that that is a weak argument here because it can be applied to any type, thereby not contributing anything to any side of any argument. I know that...
  12. Project Mono-Type: Water

If you're looking for the easiest type to start out with, Water is almost inarguably the best choice, especially out of the list presented. Water has: The most fully evolved Pokemon of any type At least one of every secondary typing possible, usable in OU (excepting Water/Fire. . ...
  13. Teambuilding in the 5th Gen

Pocket, great post. How successful is the team in practice? Especially against the prominent threats (ie weather teams, baton/smash pass, etc.). Does the team have a hard time switching? Can it maintain momentum? Does it have trouble winning if Volcarona can't set up?
  14. Teambuilding in the 5th Gen

It seems that everyone can identify all the basic "formulas" and ideas that make "good" teams, but what about going beyond the common sense stuff? After all, how many of you have been really successful with your formulaic teams? Do all of your basic teams do well? What separates the great teams...
  15. Things you do to fall asleep

I find reading to be the best way. Sometimes it takes a while, but I enjoy reading so much I could care less how long it takes. If I read too long, though, it'll actually take me longer to fall asleep, so once you start dozing off, be sure to stop or you'll have more trouble than before you...
