"Ugh, I've been on this lousy ship for almost five hours now. When are we-"
Your boat comes to a stop. You've finally arrived at your destination. You step out of the slightly dilapidated ship, pay the captain your fare with a half-mumbled thank you, and walk towards the end of the dock. You've heard of a Gym here, and you need to get closer to that Victini, so here you are, wearing 4 layers of clothing and still cold. There's snow all around covering the ground, but there seems to be a path that leads off somewhere into the distance. You look at the captain and confusedly point to it, and the captain slowly nods his head. You shrug and begin down the path.

Approximately a half-mile down the road, you spot a figure, but you swear it has to be an illusion. It looks like a young man walking towards you, but that can't be. Wearing just a sweatshirt over a t-shirt and a pair of jeans in the middle of the Arctic Circle? That's crazy! However, as you approach him, you see that he is in fact real, and it looks like he's actually out for a stroll with a Weavile, obviously his partner.

The strange man looks at you and speaks, in a loud and clear voice, "Hey there! I don't exactly get many people here, and this isn't exactly what you'd call a scenic sight, so I'm guessing you're here for the Gym?" You start to answer, but he cuts you off, saying "No need to answer that. Even my own mother wouldn't pay me a visit out here if she wasn't gonna battle me. Name's waterwarrior by the way. Yes, yes, I know that it's kinda funny that that's my name and I'm the Ice Gym leader, but once you heard how I got that name... nah, you probably don't care in the slightest. Another time maybe. Well, better make this battle worth it then, amiright?"

After walking for about five minutes and chatting with the leader, you come across a small patch of land with a white fence around it. The leader stops and takes a deep breath, but you almost keep going, almost not seeing the arena at all. The gym leader steps over the little fence and walks over to the other side of the field. You look at the field and see the regulation field- two semi-circles in the areas where the trainers stand and a Poké Ball in the middle of the field. Both of you get ready, and waterwarrior raises his hand to the sky and cries out "All right! Let's break the ice!"

Suddenly, a flurry of hail descends on the battlefield. You know this battle won't be easy, but there's no backing out now!
  • Natural weather is Hail with permanent duration. When Hail is active, it deals 4 DPA to all non-Ice types or without some sort of immunity. It also heals 4 HP per action to all Pokémon with the ability Ice Body. If Rain is summoned, the weather becomes Sleet for the duration of Rain. Sleet has both the combined effects of Hail and Rain. If Sun or Sandstorm is summoned without the respective weather stone, the weather becomes clear for 2 rounds before reverting back to Hail. Sun and Sandstorm overwrite Hail and lasts 3 rounds if summoned with the respective weather stone before reverting back to Hail.
  • Leader and Challenger may select a berry from a gym-provided list to give to their Pokemon in addition to a normal held item. (Cheri, Chesto, Pecha, Rawst, Leppa, Lum, Oran, Persim, Figy, Wiki, Mago, Aguav, Iapapa, Sitrus, Razz, Occa, Chople, Charti, Babiri, Enigma) One berry may be chosen per Pokemon. No Pokemon can be holding two berries in this way. Knock Off removes both the normal held item and the berry from the target. If Trick is used, the user can choose to swap both items, just the normal held item, or just the berries (i.e. If a Trick user is holding an Expert Belt/Enigma Berry and the target is holding a Life Orb/Occa Berry, the trick user may exhange both items for both items, the Expert Belt for the Life Orb, or the Enigma Berry for the Occa Berry, but NOT the Expert Belt for the Occa Berry or the Enigma Berry for the Life Orb)
  • There is no external grass, but there is a small pool of water and a pile of rocks in the arena, so moves requiring external water/rocks can be used.
  • Nature Power calls Ice Beam, Camouflage grants Ice typing, Secret Power may Freeze.

Welcome back to Northbrook Island, friends! Things are getting awfully chilly here, but this battle is sure to heat up fast. Today, we'll be watching Ice-type Gym Leader waterwarrior competing in his fourth gym match of the season. His gang of icy Pokemon is like a fine wine: it gets better and better with age. He's added Glaceon to the ranks and improvements on all of the others. His biggest tool this match will be Wispmother the Froslass. Although she's mad frail, she'll do the most damage to Bronzong while dodging the incoming Fighting-type STAB moves. All of his Pokemon stand a fair chance at taking out any of the opponent's mons.

Our opposing challenger today is Matezoide. He's well-known for his questionable Pokemon choices that aren't in the "overused" tier in ASB. Don't be fooled though; all of his Pokemon are competent battlers that are capable of throwing some tricky curve balls. While his maxed Primeape and healthy Revenankh are threatening, Zero the Bronzong is going to be his most reliable Pokemon. With a stupidly powerful Gyro Ball and lasting defensive options, it's going to be putting its stake in this match.

Let's check out the line up.

<Primeape> [Steve] (Male)
Nature: Jolly (+14% accuracy)

Type: Fighting

Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

About: He is the very first pokemon Matezoide obtained and quickly became best friends after Matt selfishlessly risked his life against a pack of wild Houndour.
Steve is extremely strong, determined, honored and relatively docile Primeape, only feeling truly alive during a battle with a worth opponent (But cant control his anger if he feels the situation is....ridiculous), he cares very much about his trainer and team mates. As Matezoide's oldest pokemon and closest friend, Steve is considered to be the leader of his pokemon, and the one they can always trust for help regardless of the situation.

Abilities:
Vital Spirit (Passive):

This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage and energy/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Vital Spirit also has Insomnia, its evasion is raised by one (1) stage permanently.

Anger Point (Passive):

When struck with a critical hit, this Pokemon becomes enraged and its Attack rises to maximum (Stage 6). However, its Attack will drop up to two (2) stages at the end of each round instead of one (1) stage until it reaches stage zero (0). Critical hits from self-targeting moves do not activate Anger Point.

Defiant (HIDDEN ABILITY UNLOCKED Passive):

The Pokemon has a deep sense of honor, and whenever one of its stats are decreased by an opponent's Attack or Ability, its Attack increases by two (2) stages. Attack Boosts gained this way are not subject to deterioration that round.

<Revenankh> [Nefertina] (Female)

Nature: Brave (+Attack, - Speed, -10% Evasion)

Type: Ghost/Fighting

Ghost: Ghost STAB; immune to the effects of full trapping moves and the Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, and Shadow Tag abilities. Ghost types can switch out while affected by a partial trapping move, but they will be damaged every action by their effect.

Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

About: A Revenankh met at the ruins during Bert's training, both pokemon stalemated for a long time before Nefertina was knocked out by a collapsing pillar. Knowing the ruins would give away soon, Matezoide and Bert removed the pillar and managed to carry her to safety. Sad that her home is gone, but happy about meeting someone that powerfull (And the promisse of there existing pokemon even stronger than Bert), Nefertina did not hesitate to be captured to further hone her skills. Although she was initially disapointed at the majority of the rest of the team (Calling them ''slackers'' and lazy), they eventually grew on her heart (Mostly because she saw their sparing matches and realised their strength).

Abilities:

Shed Skin (Passive): This Pokemon regularly sheds its skin and any impurities contained in its body. If afflicted with a status condition, this Pokemon has a 33% chance of removing all status conditions at the end of a round.

Air Lock (Passive): This Pokemon releases immense barometric pressure, clearing the weather in the arena and preventing the effect of weather moves and abilities from taking place.

Infiltrator (DW UNLOCKED, Passive): Through a combination of speed and cunning, this Pokemon easily circumvents the effects of Light Screen, Mist, Reflect, Safeguard and Substitute with all of its attacks.

<Bronzong> (Zero)
Nature: Brave (+Attack, -Speed, -10% evasion)

Type: Steel/Psychic

Steel: Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm damage, immune to Poison/Toxic status, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, making them susceptible to Poison-type attacks and Poison/Toxic Status.

Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

About: A Bronzor met at the Iron Island, Zero always heard tales of the out-side world. Upon capture, the young Bronzor is extremely curious and courageous (If not reckless) to explore his new surroundings. Sadly, Zero also realised just how much better life would be if he had arms. The ability to punch and grabs things looks extremely interesting to him, but alas, it is not meant to be.
Or was it? On a random day, on a carnival, Zero got into a fight. Upon getting knocked down on a ''manly stuff'' stand, he accidentally drunk an entire bottle of Old-Spice, combined with Red Bull. As a result, the testosterone filled his body, and within seconds, not only did Zero evolve, but he also grew four arms! Armed (heh) with his new power, Zero couldnt be any happier!

Abilities:
Levitate (Passive):This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss
Heatproof (Passive):This Pokemon's mirror-like alloyed skin protects it from Fire-type attacks, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.) The damage inflicted by burns is also cut in half.
Heavy Metal (DW UNLOCKED, Passive): The Pokemon's body structure is immensely dense, doubling its weight. When it uses a full-body attack or a weight-based attack it will do more damage, and it will be much harder to lift, throw, or knock back.

And now, the coin flip! Heads dictates that the Gym Leader will send out first. Tails will bring forth the Challenger first.

Matezoide will send out first. Then waterwarrior will send out and issue actions. To wrap it up, Matezoide will issue his commands. Best of luck to both competitors!

Steve...you have been my holdest companion. We came a long way ever since our journey started, and today, we are face to face against Waterwarrior. This will be your toughest challenge yet, but i know we have the ability to overcome this as well.

@ Rare Candy & Enigma Berry

Give me your best shot, Ice Gym! We came to win this thing!

Ah, true companionship. A very lovely sight indeed, and one I know very well. Of course, knowing the opponents you would bring, there's no way I could've brought my beautiful Dovahkiin with this team you brought here. However, while I know just how powerful the bonds of friendship are, they're not enough to allow you to take this match with ease either. Let's test your friendship with Chell the Jynx @ Rare Candy/ Enigma Berry! Show us the power of your bond!
Psyshock -> Psychic -> Psyshock
If Primeape is underground when you would attack, change that action to Rain Dance the first time, Reflect the second, and Avalanche the third
If Bide, change remaining actions to Reflect -> Toxic -> Psyshock

Here goes nothing! Give us your all!

Typical first round for a gym match. Matezoide leads out with his trustworthy Steve the Primeape. With its massive movepool and great offensive presence, it should leave quite the dent. To counter, waterwarrior brings in Chell the Jynx. Her equal offensive presence and speed make this quite an intense match up from the get go.

Thanks to Protect, Primeape manages to take minimal damage. Jynx conserves its energy by firing off low energy / high power attacks in return. At the end of it all, Matezoide will be switching out his Primeape thanks to U-turn, which should score him a bit of momentum. Both have taken a part of their Enigma Berry, but Steve seems to be a bit worse off due to the deluge of Hail. This match is still anyone's game, folks!

Rev with an E-Belt and Enigma Berry (Best berry)

Phantom Force -> Shadow Punch -> Phantom Force

If Jinx has Double-Team clones up, use Shadow Punch that action
If Bide, use Glare that action and Sand-Tomb the next

Birkal
Jynx should have 90 HP due to Enigma Berry, but the end of round calcs show it at 80.
Also Primeape's Protect itself didn't seem to cost any EN and I believe you mathed a little wrong, so he should be at 60 EN, not 75

Matezoide if this has any effect on your actions, go ahead and re-order

Damn you Rev and your stupid unavoidable moves and your stupid Infiltrator and your stupid face. Chell, you're gonna take a looot of damage this round, but there's nothing else we can di besides dishing it right back at him! Make way for the next mon!

Psyshock -> Psychic -> Psyshock

This is your last warning. You had several chances to ref this thing before and after your vacation. Then you said you would ref on Sunday (Which you did not).

I do not enjoy DQing or giving warnings like this, but i want this match to get somewhere.

I posted a Leave of Absence that I would be gone for a span of four to five days. Should be able to referee the match timely now. If my timing ever seriously upsets you, go ahead and get a subref. I won't be offended.

Matezoide takes no pause in going for the jugular with his newly entered Nefertina the Revenankh. Its impressive physical pressure and usable abilities make it an excellent candidate for this gym. Upon entering the field, its Air Lock stops the hail from racking up residual damage. Her STAB SE moves combined with Infiltrator is going to make this a tough Pokemon to play against, regardless of order. The two exchange their strongest blows, and manage to deplete their Enigma Berry supply. Jynx is on the ropes, but Revenankh isn't in stellar shape either.

Air Lock stopped the hail.

Hmm, it appears I miscalculated a little. Thought I'd have more HP... however, it's not your time to perish just yet! Klavier Gavin @ Expert Belt/ Enigma Berry, it's your turn to take the stage!

Care to counter-switch?

Alright Klavier, you can do this! Stop him stone cold in his tracks!

Taunt -> Acrobatics -> Aerial Ace
If successful P/E move, change that action to Spikes and push back
If Counter, change that action to Blizzard

Alright, lets try....

this!

Drain Punch -> Wrap -> Drain Punch

If Wrap misses, use it again A3.

I did not mean as an offense, Birkal. My appologies if i sounded like a dick previously.

With Chell not faring well, our Gym Leader makes an executive decision to switch out. This is always a risky move for the Ice-type leader, as the majority of his Pokemon are vulnerable to hazards. But since there's no sign of Stealth Rock entering the field anytime soon, waterwarrior brings in Klavier Gavin the Syclant. It's a surprising choice, as its defensive bulk is embarrassingly tiny compared to Revenankh's offense. With some fancy aerial maneuvers, Syclant manages to do some impressive damage. Not one to be down for the count, Nefertina launches off attacks to regain its Hit Points, the most exciting of these being an intense Wrap shot out from its left hand. With both Pokemon running on fumes, what can we expect next round?

Nefertina, you were perfect there. Rest a bit for now.

Zero@ Rare Candy and Enigma Berry, you are up!

Waterwarrior can not switch out because of Wrap!

Gyro Ball -> Gyro Ball -> Heavy Slam

If Syclant has Double-Team clones up, use Rock Slide that action
If Counter, use Flash Cannon that action the first time, Stealth Rock the second and Flash Cannon the third

Rev should have 6 less HP due to Expert Belt

Alright, time to deal (or, in better terms, not deal) with this broken-ass motherfucker. And if you don't think something that gets a 15 BAP attack on anything with 83 Speed or above for 6 EN is broken, then you get right the fuck out of my face.

Well Mate, if this match proves anything, it's that you don't need much luck or skill to beat this Gym: you need a Bronzong.

<waterwarrior> i lost so bad
<waterwarrior> its not even funny
<tavok> lol
<tavok> it is
<tavok> !

Knock Off -> Substitute (15) -> Protect

Challenger Matezoide takes a risk and decides to switch out his nearly dead Revenankh for his final Pokemon: Zero the Bronzong. Its ridiculous defenses and strong Super-Effective BAP attacks are sure to leave a dent on any Pokemon the Gym Leader can manage to throw at him. waterwarrior takes on defense and goes to stall out Bronzong for as long as he can with Protect and Substitute. While Syclant succeeds in wearing down the metal bell with hail damage, its own energy and HP are both depleting fast. This next turn will be an important one for both battlers!

The hailstorm started again!

(15+3+(6-3)) x 1.5 = 31.5 damage
+10 HP (Syclant)

Bronzong used Heavy Slam!
RNG Roll (Crit) [<=625 Crit]: 4008/10000 (No)

Yeah, we're in a bit of a sticky situation here, but try to do as much as you can on the way out, alright? We're already fighting a losing battle...

Endure -> Bug Buzz -> Bug Buzz
If Trick Room AND Bronzong is not taunted, Taunt and push back

Klavier Gavin attempts to get one more round of action through the use of Endure. But thanks to Zero's ridiculous offensive presence and Toxic, it manages to snag the KO. But not all is lost for our Gym Leader; Syclant manages to get off two final Bug Buzzes while piling on some extra hail damage. Will waterwarrior bring Jynx back in, or send out his final Pokemon?

Syclant should've gotten one more attack off- Enigma Berry brings it to 11 HP and Toxic brings it to 10, not 0

Regardless, Frozone @ King's Rock, its time to put on your Super Suit
