Overview
########
Totodile is a moderately powerful Pokemon that has access to Dragon Dance, which allows it to sweep through teams. However, Totodile is almost entirely outclassed by Corphish, only having the advantage in Speed and Special Defense. Even so, Totodile's Speed is abysmal at best, capping out at 14 with an Adamant nature. Another crippling trait Totodile possesses is the lack of coverage it can have, with only two moves of varying coverage. This leads it to being walled by a variety of different Pokemon. However, Totodile's high 16 Attack still makes it viable in the metagame.

Dragon Dance
########
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Waterfall
move 3: Aqua Jet / Substitute
move 4: Ice Punch / Brick Break
ability: Torrent
item: Eviolite
evs: 36 HP / 156 Atk / 4 Def / 60 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========
Dragon Dance raises Totodile's abysmal Speed and its already high Attack stat. As a primary STAB move, Waterfall does a good job of disposing of Eviolite-lacking Pokemon that are neutral to it, and gives Totodile a chance to flinch the opponent, which can be especially important when against Pokemon that otherwise wall Totodile. Aqua Jet can be used to polish off opposing Pokemon that can otherwise harm Totodile. Substitute lets Totodile set up with more ease, allowing it to take certain hits and retaliate accordingly. Ice Punch hits Grass-types, which resist Waterfall, solidly. Brick Break, however, allows Totodile to break through bulky Normal- and Steel-types such as Munchlax and Ferroseed, respectively, which can survive one of Totodile's hits and proceed to cripple and beat Totodile 1v1.

Set Details
========
156 Attack EVs leave Totodile with 16 Attack, allowing it to leave moderate dents in opposing Pokemon even before setting up. 252 EVs go into Speed to maximize it, ensuring that Totodile can outspeed certain threats while unboosted, such as Cottonee and Chespin. The remaining EVs boost HP, Defense, and Special Defense by one more full stat point. Eviolite further increases these stats, allowing Totodile to survive longer while it sets up.

Usage Tips
========
Totodile is disposed of quite easily by a variety of hard-hitting Pokemon, such as Abra and Mienfoo. Be certain to only set up on Pokemon that are forced out by the presence of Totodile, such as Drilbur and Archen. Also be sure to remove or severely cripple Totodile's checks and counters as well as any status users before attempting to set up, as it has no way of removing status.

Team Options
========
Seeing as Totodile is entirely shut down by status, having a Pokemon that is unafraid to be statused is immensely beneficial to Totodile, with Foongus playing this role quite nicely. Guts Timburr can also assist in this, being able to use such an infliction to its advantage and proceed to weaken the opposing team, leaving way for Totodile to do more work. However, if either you do not have a status absorber or it has failed to do its job, having a Pokemon such a Spritzee that can Aromatherapy away any negative effects is a nice backup to keep Totodile in fighting shape. Having the ability to pass a Wish off to Totodile to increase its longevity is also another nice factor that allows Totodile to attempt setting up again. Another type of Pokemon that helps Totodile set up is a fast Memento user, namely Diglett and Cottonee, can ensure that Totodile gets to set up at least once. The final piece to help ensure the best of a Totodile sweep would be fast Knock Off users, to remove Eviolites from nuisances to Totodile. Choice Scarf Pawniard plays this role expertly, being able to not only remove essential items from Pokemon but also deal respectable damage to a large variety of Pokemon.

Other Options
########
Most of the options that Totodile has are mainly for coverage, such as running Crunch for Psychic-types, namely Slowpoke. More examples are Aerial Ace for Croagunk and Mienfoo, Rock Slide for Mantyke, Iron Tail for Snubbull and Spritzee, Superpower for a hard-hitting move to dispose of Normal-types, and Double-Edge for a neutral coverage move that takes Totodile down to Torrent even quicker. In place of Dragon Dance, you can run a Swords Dance set, though the lack of Speed boosts is the greatest downfall of such a set.

Checks & Counters
########
**Status Users**: Totodile has no real method of dealing with status once it begins to set up, as it cannot afford to remove it by switching out and having to attempt setting up again. That being said, burns and paralysis are extremely detrimental to Totodile, as they lower its Attack and Speed, respectively. Bulky Pokemon such as Porygon or Slowpoke are easily able to eat up an attack Totodile goes for and proceed to Thunder Wave it.

**Powerful Choice Scarf Users**: Powerful Choice Scarf users, such as Pawniard and Gastly, are able to typically outspeed and revenge kill a weakened Totodile, even after a single Dragon Dance, assuming they are able to survive a boosted Aqua Jet.

**Focus Sash / Sturdy Users**: Focus Sash or Sturdy users revenge kill Totodile easily. Magnemite falls into the second category, being able to take any hit Totodile may have, and proceed to OHKO it with its Electric-type STAB moves.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Slowpoke and Chinchou can easily switch in and retaliate with Psychic and an Electric-type move, respectively.

**Croagunk**: Thanks to Dry Skin, Croagunk is able to take Waterfall and Aqua Jet while whittling Totodile down to the point where it can either finish it off on its own or have something else revenge kill it.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Cottonee can prevent Totodile from setting up, Encoring it into Dragon Dance if it were to use it, and proceeding to 2HKO it with Giga Drain. Ferroseed, when healthy, can eat up any attack Totodile may throw at it, and proceed to paralyze, and 2HKO it. Foongus can eat up attacks, and then put Totodile to sleep, neutralizing it as a threat, and proceed to dispose of it with Giga Drain.

**Timburr**: Timburr has the capability to set up alongside Totodile, being able to tank the boosted hits with the gained Defense from Bulk Up, something Totodile is unable to match.

Overview:
Get rid of the "having low defenses depending on item" part of the 5th point because the recommended set only has one suggested item.

DDSweeper:
Change the name to Dragon Dance.
I don't see any use for Crunch at all outside of the rare Slowpoke; replace it with Brick Break, which would probably be more useful to hit weakened Ferroseed/bulky normals/Scraggy/Omanyte, all of whom could otherwise paralyze Totodile and/or take it out. Reflect this in the move descriptions.
Slash Substitute at the end of moves 3 and 4 to block status and activate Torrent more easily. Describe its uses in the move descriptions.
Change the EV spread to 36 HP / 156 Atk / 4 Def / 60 SpD / 252 Spe. This allows Totodile to hit 12 SpD and thus an eviolite number as well as getting an extra HP point in exchange for one point of Attack. Reflect this in the set details.

Usage Tips:
I don't think mono-attacking Slowpoke is really a thing. Instead, say that Totodile should try to set up on Pokemon it can force out, such as Drilbur and Archen.

Team Options:
Mention that Memento users such as Cottonee and Diglett can help it set up more easily.
Mention that Knock Off users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard can remove Eviolites from key walls, allowing Totodile to break through them more easily later on.
Remove the Archeops reference; Archen is almost never seen as a dedicated lead, which are quite rare in LC in general. In addition, mention Ferroseed as a possible candidate to set up hazards due to its decent defensive synergy with Totodile.

Other Options:
You need this section. Describe the uses of Crunch (Slowpoke), Aerial Ace (Croagunk), Double-Edge (neutral coverage), Swords Dance, Iron Tail (Snubbull/Spritzee), Rock Slide (Mantyke), and Superpower.

Checks and Counters:
Don't bother mentioning Lum Berry because it's pretty much irrelevant in LC. Toxic is also not really seen at all because it simply doesn't have much of an impact in the fast-paced LC metagame, and it doesn't hinder a sweeper like Totodile too much, so just mention paralysis and burns. Mention that bulky paralysis users such as Porygon and Slowpoke are easily able to survive a boosted attack from Totodile and paralyze it.
For the "Powerful Scarfers" section, lowering its HP severely will just activate Torrent, which benefits Aqua Jet in addition to Waterfall. Instead, say that powerful Choice Scarf users are able to outspeed and revenge-kill a weakened Totodile if they are healthy enough to take an Aqua Jet.
For the Focus Sash users, once again, weakening Totodile will not be enough. Say that they can hang on with their Focus Sash and take out a weakened Totodile.
Add a section on Croagunk, who is immune to Waterfall and can whittle Totodile down.
Add a section on bulky Grass-types. Cottonee is able to encore Totodile if it attempts to use Dragon Dance and 2HKO with Giga Drain. A healthy Ferroseed can easily withstand anything Totodile can throw at it and paralyze it before KOing with Bullet Seed. Foongus can put Totodile to sleep with Spore and 2HKO with Giga Drain; it also usually avoids the 2HKO from 16 Atk Totodile's +1 Ice Punch when factoring in Giga Drain's recovery.

Nicely done overall, but just don't forget the OO section from now on :P
QC 1/3

I haven't much time right now, but I just wanted to drop a quick comment that I think Swords Dance itself should be a set instead of OO. Totodile isn't extremely frail, and it makes for a good late-game sweeper.

Corporal Levi This is why I shouldn't write things when sleep-deprived. Coulda swore I put OO in there, my bad. Thanks for that catch and all the feedback, much appreciated. Also edited in all the things.

Remove Croagunk from the examples of things Brick Break beats, for obvious reasons. In C&C, seeing as Chinchou is really the only bulky electric type, it should probably be changed to bulky water types, cuz shellos and slowpoke also beat it...also, focus sash users ---> focus sash and sturdy users, add magnemite there. idk why to use this over corphish but, 2/3

Add Timburr to Checks and Counters. It sets up alongside of Totodile, tanking its hits with the Defense boosts from Bulk Up which Totodile can't match.

you're missing a line for substitute in the moves section. also status does hurt it but you don't need to emphasize it that much (heal bell in team options and the mention in checks and counters is enough imo)...and if you're going to mention pokemon that don't mind status in team options, mention guts timburr. really good job on this tho, move to gp after those changes

Silly me, forgetting Substitute like that. Thanks, implemented all the stuff and things, ready for GP. Tagging amazing user: fleurdyleurse and (wait, can't tag hory since on vaca methinks). Goddamnit, I don't have a second GP member to fall back on anymore I think. I guess I'll just randomly tag frenzyplant perhaps?

**Bulky Water-types**: Most Pokemon that are naturally bulky are easily able to resist Totodile's attacks and retaliate with a different move. One prime example of this is Chinchou, as it resists both of the primary attacks that Totodile carries, and is able to retaliate easily with a powerful Electric-type STAB move. Slowpoke can also come in, eat up an attack, hit Totodile with a powerful STAB Psychic and then switch out, negating most damage Totodile did. Bulky Water-types such as Slowpoke and Chinchou can easily switch in and retaliate with Psychic and an Electric-type move, respectively.

**Croagunk**: Thansk to having access to Dry Skin, Croagunk is easily able to eat up any Waterfall or Aqua Jet Totodile may go for, all the while whittling it down to the point where it can either finish it off on it's own or have something else revenge-kill it. Implemented the check. Thanks fleurdy, you da real MVP. Also quick question about this: Did you mean to put hits in place of Attacks and capitalize the first letters of Bulk Up? Just asking as those are what make the sentence entirely correct last I checked, but wanted to make sure in case it was intended. o3o

Edit: Totally not still missing a filling word for attacks, so I'm putting hits in there in place of it. If another GP member wants a different word then I will fix then.

After a few attempts at wrestling with the 'lack of coverage' thing, I decided to just go direct. It still conveys the necessary information and is fairly short.

Your Substitute explanation could do with similar directness. What hits is it taking? Basically just Scald (And statuses but yea). If you're going to be coy about it, there has to be a longer list, otherwise just be specific dammit.

The EV section has a lot of fluff pared right the hell out. So does the moves section, come to think.

" Also, be sure to remove or severely cripple any Pokemon that can prevent Totodile from setting up through the use of status before attempting to set up, as it has no way of removing status.¶" This sentence makes zero sense. Who cares if their status stops you from setting up? You should be setting up on other stuff anyhow then. If their status stops you from SWEEPING, i.e. they switch in as you Dragon Dance, take a hit, and status you, that's fine, but what about stuff whose attacks stop you from sweeping? This really just needs to be a generic "Take out Checks N counters before sweeping".

Can Gastly even take a boosted Aqua Jet?

14 speed is for 21 speed after a DD, i.e. the entire unboosted metagame.

This has 16 attack with your current spread.

More to the point, Corphish can have more attack while having the same speed with a +Spe nature. With the spread you've got versus 116 hp/116 atk/236 spe (Suboptimal of course, but that just proves that Totodile itself is suboptimal). All you've got is 2 extra points of SpD on this spread, while it has Adaptability, which is basically amazing. At this point, all you've got over it is Ice Punch, which, granted, but totodile still kinda sucks ass.

So...Idk, if this still really deserves an analysis, you should hype up Ice Punch and superior bulk.

(why would you want to stay in/set up on Chespin?) The remaining EVs boost are split into HP, Defense, and Special Defense by to allow for each stat to go up one more full stat point without hindering the rest of Totodile's stats. Giving Totodile an Eviolite further increases these stats, allowing it Totodile to survive longer while it sets up.

Usage Tips
========
Totodile is disposed of quite easily by a variety of hard-hitting (dash) Pokemon, such as Abra and Mienfoo. Be certain to only set up on Pokemon that are forced out by the presence of Totodile, such as Drilbur and Archen. Also be sure to remove or severely cripple Totodile's checks and counters as well as any status users Pokemon that can prevent Totodile from setting up through the use of status before attempting to set up, as it has no way of removing status.

Team Options
========
Seeing as Totodile is entirely shut down by status, having a Pokemon that is unafraid to be statused is immensely beneficial to Totodile, with Foongus playing this role quite nicely. Guts Timburr can also help assist in this, being able to use such an infliction to its advantage and proceed to weaken the opposing team, leaving way for Totodile to do more work. However, if you either you do not have a status absorber or it has failed to do its job, having a Pokemon such a Spritzee that can Aromatherapy away any negative effects is a nice backup to keep Totodile in fighting shape. Having the ability to pass a Wish off to Totodile to increase its longevity is also another nice factor that allows Totodile to attempt setting up again. Another type of Pokemon that helps Totodile set up is a fast Memento user, namely Diglett and Cottonee, which. These two Pokemon can ensure that Totodile gets to set up at least once. The final piece to help ensure the best of a Totodile sweep would be fast Knock Off users, to remove Eviolites from nuisances to Totodile. Choice Scarf Pawniard plays this role expertly, being able to not only remove essential items from Pokemon but also being able to deal respectable damage to a large variety of Pokemon.

Other Options
########
Most of the options that Totodile has are mainly for coverage, such as running Crunch for Psychic-types, namely Slowpoke. More examples are Aerial Ace for Croagunk and Mienfoo, Rock Slide for Mantyke, Iron Tail for Snubbull or and Spritzee, Superpower for a hard-hitting move to dispose of Normal-types, and just running Double-Edge for a neutral coverage move that takes you Totodile down to Torrent even quicker.

**Powerful Choice Scarf Users**: Powerful Choice Scarf users, such as Pawniard or and Gastly, are able to typically outspeed and revenge kill a weakened Totodile, even after a single Dragon Dance, and proceed to revenge-kill a weakened Totodile, assuming they are able to survive a boosted Aqua Jet.

**Focus Sash / Sturdy Users**: Focus Sash or Sturdy users revenge kill Totodile easily. Magnemite falls into the second category, being able to take any hit Totodile may have for it, and proceed to OHKO it with its Electric-type STAB moves.

Thanks frenzyplant, implemented the stuff but need to point something out: Totodile can hit 17 Attack, thought the set spread only takes it just short of 17 in favor of maximizing bulk. (Can still hit 17 with full invests. :p) And the only reason to keep Totodile in against Chespin is to finish off a moderately whittled down Chespin in attempts to prevent it from Synthesis'ing. But yeah, if the stuff should stay lemme know and thanks once again.
