Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

ok, im having trouble with my r4 - it wont let me SR for some reason.

so ive been trying to do this without SR'ing - just hard resetting and trying to find the right time to select A to start the game.

i've tried the calibration process 5 times, and have got 15 seconds every time, with delays between 620-630. but the offset has been wildly fluctuating fairly wildly from 35-152.

so is that going to cause major problems? i'm guessing yes.

the other question is what should i do to resolve the problem? do i need to be pressing A a bit earlier or something?

I have no problem with SR'ing on my R4, except for the occasionally white screen/freeze. Anyways, are you starting the time at when you hard reset the R4? If you are, then you might wanna try to time how long it takes for you to hard reset and load Pokemon, and then subtract that from your offset.

My question is there any way to stabilize your delay? I keep hitting random spreads with a range of about 15 frames and I can't get it to stick on any one delay.

I believe on the 1st post it mentions going onto wifi advances the RNG.

It's said to change it to some unknown value, not simply advance it. Which is good; we don't need PRNG abuse in battles, too.

Anyway, I found an awesome spread for a shiny Azelf using the latest RNG Reporter. Remember how I noticed that all the first Pokemon I Scented for showed up as the 11th frame on the list? I think it changes when you resave (it's now the 3rd frame on my save) but otherwise it stays constant. I realized I could use this to my advantage, because then I could make a list of the 3rd-frame Pokemon that had similar delays. For example:

Code:
Delay	Seconds	Nature
599	25	Bashful
597	25	Bashful
601	25	Bashful
603	25	Bashful
599	26	Hasty
597	26	Hasty
601	26	Hasty
603	26	Hasty
599	27	Adamant
597	27	Adamant
601	27	Adamant
603	27	Adamant
599	28	Gentle
597	28	Gentle
601	28	Gentle
603	28	Gentle

The next thing I noticed was the fact that each second had its own unique nature! So just by looking at the nature I could tell how many seconds I was off. And I could just take one glance at the stats and guess which delay it belonged to, so I wouldn't need to spend a lot of time trying to figure out the exact IVs.

I'll be working on a guide on abusing the PRNG to catch legendaries soon, and this is just one more trick I'll be throwing in there.

Ok so i am using the RNG to get random shinies, and it is extremely frustrating, i keep on getting bashful nature for the shiny (in the RNG reporter), and its happening soo many times. I thought it was just me, but my friend is having the same thing happen, do all the natures have the same chance to be the shiny, or is it because i am in a certain time period?

^^Looking forward to it.

EDIT: Ok, so I'm trying to abuse the RNG to get the IV spread I want (31/x/31/31/31/31). This falls at:

18080266 | 2009 05 02 | 08:01:13 | 605 | 9 | 31/x/31/31/31/31

But when I do it, not only do I not get that IV spread, but I come nowhere near it. I'm off by miles. I can't find the frame that the hatched egg is from. Is this because the offset is wrong? It's on 9 atm, but I got between 8-11 in my 10 callibration tests.

For instance, I just got a 31/31/7/31/31/31 spread while trying for this: 1B010267 | 2009 05 02 | 01:04:13 | 606 | 7 | B/23/B/31/B/31

What am I doing wrong >_<

When you resave after closing the journal your offset usually changes. You have to resave in front of the daycare man until you find you find it again.

So this means that you have to rare candy the little booger to level 100? (if you dont have an AR)

Not at all, usually i rare candy one or 2 levels, then if the maximum gap in an IV is 2, and up to 5 can have gap (these are my standards), then i try different combinations, and most IVs can be worked out at lvl 50ish (resort area)

No, you'll need to rare candy it to about lv 50

Ok, thanks guys.. i guess ill have to port some rare candies up from sapphire or somethin...
[edit]- also, would i have to port up new rare candies every time cuz that would suck?

you're only gonna need maybe one or two each time, unless you want to check the ivs of what you hatch, that will take a lot more.

Is it possible that at a certain save point a spread is not possible? I've been taking note of my delays and offsets the past few times I've reset and every time I hit my delay (605) I miss my offset, but every other delay I get gives me the desired offset (5):

611 5
599 5
605 4
613 5
595 5
603 5
597 5
605 4
597 5
609 5
605 4
599 5
601 5
605 4

This is pretty frustrating. Any advice? Should I just try resaving again?

I don't think anyone has answered this yet, so I will. I want to say yes, it may be impossible to get it this time. I had the same thing happen to me with a dusknoir and tried for 5 hours. All you can do is re-save and go for a different time.

Ok thanks, that's what I figured and have started over. Nice to know I'm not going crazy though. When you say different time do you mean different spread all together (like date/time)?

Yes, that is what I meant. You could try going for it again, and see if you get it. I did not try going for my again because I spent 5 hours on it.

Can anyone help me test this?
I think this is the way to get shiny method 1 pokemon, but I haven't tested this myself yet.

I'm gonna try this now, and everyone who wants to help, please PM me your results. (like, if you did get the right delay and offset, tell me which seed you did get.

Anyways, this is what I think we need to do:

1. Find a shiny method 1 spread using the Time Finder. (let's say we got this one: Date: 12/20/2009, 15:16:01, Delay: 601, Offset: 14)

2. Save in front of a method 1 pokémon, Cresselia for example.

3. Change your DS's date and time.

4. Press continue at 15:16:01 and hope you got the right delay.

5. Advance the RNG so your offset will be 14 (Cresselia's offset is 5 when no other pokemon are roaming, 6 when mesprit is roaming, the last is in my case). So, I have 6, and then I just walk 4 x 128 steps when having 2 pokemon in my party, this advances the RNG by 4 x 2 = 8, that makes 14.

6. Release Cresselia and confirm it's shinyness.

Or instead of doing all that walking, you can open up the journal in game and manually advance it be flipping the pages. Each battle by trainers and pokemon caught is +2. But, yes, that is the basics.
