Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

hey guys, i just need to know, if i put my delays in Pandoras box with my id to find a compatible sid (i caught gyrados, and no shiny) i didnt abuse my sid or id....is it every sid listed that works? or do i have to find the one that i can use?(it gave me two sids, and the one i picked is kinda weird, as every time i hit my frame the ivs and everything match, but the pokemon isnt shiny)

After getting the PID set on my egg in HG/SS, I picked a spread on frame 4, seed 840902B5. I had all 3 roamers out, and I took note of their routes when I saved. RNG Reporter said that they would advance my frame by 3. After SRing, I mashed "A" as quickly as possible, collected my egg, and found via the roamer map that I was on the correct seed. I hatched my egg, and it was on frame 6. If the spread I wanted was on frame 4, the roamers advanced my frame by 3, and I collected the egg as quickly as possible, shouldn't it have been the right frame (4)?

the NPC could have moved and HG/SS breeding has been known to skip some frames.

ummm I have a bit of a problem... I'm trying to RNG a Raikou.... using emloop I am trying to hit a delay of 11367... problem being when I catch a poke to verify what seed I landed on... I try to enter it into the IV range tab... but the maximum delay I can put in the box is 9999.... how could I search for a delay or over 9999

you can select the open search on seed finder and enter your info then search for the seed most similar to yours and has a delay close to what your aiming for. And are you sure that seed doesn't have a lower delay?

well I'm trying to get it this year.....

6D122c71... unless you have a better seed with a lower delay/frame while remaining with this year I think i'm stuck with this one... thanks for your help

No, most likely none of them work. If you want to use Pandora's Box to find your SID from your ID, I'm pretty sure you'd have to know the exact time and date your SID was set (when you started a new game, after Professor Oak's speech) and the delay you got during that startup (usually a pretty high one, since you sit through the whole speech).

this one is better with a lower delay
seed: 380B1B88 delay: 7038, frame is 41 a little higher but a much lower delay

ah thank you.... now I can go back to using that IV range thing... I find it VERY useful when trying to hit high delays since I can change the search range.... thanks... also... I had another question guys.... does calling elm ALWAYS advance by 1? even way at the beginning? (I only have 3 badges and am trying to RNG Raikou BEFORE I release him)

give it a shot I've been wondering myself actually, and don't recall seeing a post confirming or denying this either.

alright... I will check that out... the sad part about RNGing Raikou right now is I have NO WAY to confirm my seed without catching a wild poke which will jump my frame up past what I need to catch Raikou.....

ok would you like me to find another seed at a higher frame, lower delay, PM me and I will get one for you.

Alright just so I understand the BASICS of RNG in emerald:

You pretty much soft reset and wait for your target time to land on a frame that will give you your desired spread. And of course all this is determined by your ID/SID correct?

only if your RNging for shiny will your ID/SID matter if your not then its just a mater of timing.

I RNGed Raikou in the Burnt Tower, using a frame of about 80. I used Sweet Scent to catch a Pokémon to check if I'd hit the seed; but theoretically, it might be possible to check if you've hit your seed based on your partner Pokémon's reactions, if that will send your seed too high. Try and hit your seed, chat with your partner Pokémon and write down its responses, then catch a Pokémon to see if you hit your seed; if you did, the responses should be enough to indicate your seed next time.

Though it's probably much easier to just Sweet Scent and catch a Pokémon to check if you hit the seed, then advance with the radio.

the problem with that is if i use sweet scent... my frames will sky rocket past Raikou.... but good Idea... I will write down the reactions.... do you know how much it advances the frame?

So then spreads are the same for every game save? Regardless of ID/SID (unless rnging for shiny like you said)

In other words I can get a spread on a certain time and someone with another cartridge can get the exact same thing with the same target time and frame?

I just want to be VERY clear so that I can start RNGing without doubt of whether I'm doing it right or not.

yes two emerald carts will have the same non-shiny spreads available so you can get the exact samething in both carts with the exact same frame. The time you have to wait to hit your frame may vary from cart to cart but the spreads appear on the same frame.

As long as you haven't caught the other 2 roamers yet, you can use the guide in the 2nd post to RNG Raikou with a frame as low as 3.

Alright awesome! Thanks Nexus now I can use RNG Reporter to look for some good spreads.

Do decent spreads usually have a High Target Time/Delay?

I am an idiot.... I just realized.... if I were to use Sweet Scent with a synch I would be able to verify my seed AND stay at a low frame :)

some of the better spreads appear on really high frames but you there are some decent ones early on, and you do know that for emerald your not hitting a target timke or delay, the frames begin to advance the moment you reset and the game begins to load and continue to increase at a rate of about 60 frames/second.

O_o...ya that's what I meant so to hit a specific frame I have to reset and wait (x) amount of hours/minutes/seconds then press A if I'm RNGing for Legendaries

I know there's a guide and all but again I just want to CLARIFY as much as possible so I don't make any mistakes and waste valuable time.
