UU Throughout the Ages Tournament - Round 1 (January 2009)

Well, thanks for everyone who signed up, and more importantly everyone who didn't sign up so that everyone got in. 96 on the dot, so there is one amendment to the rules.

The UU Tier has undergone numerous changes over the years since the beginning of the 4th Generation. Numerous policy changes, bans, and strategy changes have constantly reshaped the UU metagame. This tournament will explore the UU metagame from its beginning (a.k.a. Old UU) to the recent Heracross drop (September 2010). Each round will explore a different UU metagame after each tiering change in chronological order. The times are:

January 2009
July 2009
October 2009
January 2010
May 2010
September 2010 (Current UU)
Because of popular demand, Old UU might be put into this tournament
January 2009: Since the BL tier was merged with the UU tier, every Pokemon that is NOT on these lists is allowed:

Those two threads serve as the banlist for the round.


Rules: (changes in bold)
1. Gen 4 UU at the current time. Rulings will be listed below:

2. Single Battle.
3. 6 Pokemon per team
4. Species Clause
5. Classic Sleep Clause
6. OHKO Clause
7. Classic Freeze Clause
8. Strict Damage Clause (if played on Shoddy, PO has this already)
9. Evasion Clause
10. Self-KO Clause (this will be implemented because it was not deemed uncompetitive until December 2010.)
11. Single Elimination, but with 3-person round robin finals

To aid players unsure on team creation, I will post links with information about the metagame. Some people did not play UU back then or recently joined Smogon, so this information could give players a start to team building.

The number next to your name is simply your signup number (for example, 44. kd24 means kd24 signed up 44th).

Special Thanks to Iggdrasil for asking to be a sub and ensuring 96 exactly signups and to kd24 for suggesting 96 entrants. This saved 32 of your asses, so if you weren't in the first 64 signups you better thank him!

The deadline is Friday, January 14th @ 11:15:59 PM. This long deadline is for preparations, team building, etc. Future rounds will only last 1 week.

HOPEFULLY THE LAST EDIT: Okay, the TDs (namely Earthworm + KG) have PMed me with a ruling: HGSS moves are NOT allowed until they have been released. Please do not conduct your battles until I have compiled a list of the disallowed moves.

Edit: Thanks to Earthworm I have the HGSS moves. These moves will be disallowed in rounds until after September 2009 (in tourney)

NFEs are fine. Anything that was not Uber, OU, or BL at the time is allowed, whether it is UU, NU, or NFE.

Wow I actually got in for once. Time to dig up old ass UU teams.
And NFE's were not allowed in that UU period, so this will be slightly different I guess.

Had to delve DEEP into the retired teams folder for a decent one but found one nonetheless heh.

Exactly, I didn't think that it's already been two years since the merge. I was expecting circlejerk stall UU again, hence why I thought NFEs were not allowed.
