So, what's the word on Skill Link Minccino? Serebii reports that Minccino in the Hidden Hollows have a 30% chance of being female. Is this true, or should I post in the error reporting thread on the forums?

Just tested Walrein (Ice/Water), here are my results:

25 x Sparkling Sea (36%)
26 x Ice Cave (37%)
6 x Pleasant Forest (9%)
5 x Windswept Sky (7%)
4 x Spooky Manor (6%)
4 x Rugged Mountain (6%)

Total Trips: 70

Comparing the cave's, 37% to 38%, I'd say about the same
as for the sea, 36 % to 32%, id say random chance favored my sea to yours, then again I had a smaller sample, though i feel like its in an acceptable range.

Though looking at that, I'd say they both affect the areas it goes to equally, which really vexes me with the slowbro testing. (Heck even looking at that 1k syglyph run, (which I kinda want that program. I refuse to believe you did that all by hand) manor got outshadowed by sky by 20%

Just looking at the data we have seen so far on the manor, it seems like even if it favors the area, it would rather go to its other favored area more often. maybe our issue with the testing is the manor itself, because Cave and Sea were never more than 4 trips apart for me in today's testing.

I actually really like this theory since it would explain pretty much all of the testing on dual types so far.

So this is what I propose to test this theory: we should test EVERY possible preferred area combination. So we would test pokemon with the following preference combinations:

Forest/Sky
Forest/Sea
Forest/Manor
Forest/Mountain
Forest/Cave

Sky/Sea
Sky/Manor
Sky/Mountain
Sky/Cave

Sea/Manor
Sea/Mountain
Sea/Cave

Manor/Mountain
Manor/Cave

Mountain/Cave

Basically we test all of these combinations a few times with different pokemon (preferably with different types) and see what happens. Obviously this might take a while, but we have tested some of these already so that helps! Not sure if all of these are even possible to test but that's ok because if we can't test it then it hardly matters (if an area combo is impossible to test then no one can possibly can on DW with it so we don't even need to know).

Incidently, I decided to test Slowbro AGAIN and got:

Sea: 54 (44%)
Manor: 28 (23%)
Cave: 12 (10%)
Mountain: 12 (10%)
Cave: 11 (9%)
Sky: 7 (6%)

Basically what I found last time.

Tucking in Volcarona. Will post results when done.

According to the theory, both the Forest and Mountain should be preferred. Well, lets see.

I wanted to ask those of you that have already logged Black/White 2 into Dream World, about the Pleasant Forest ponds. I would think that Tympole was added to the ponds, but would Shelmet be in the ponds as well, given its locations in Unova?

I am asking about what 5th gen Pokemon are in the ponds of BW2 DW. I had a friend that was going to do a detailed analysis, but all I want to know right now is which Pokemon were added in them.

Interesting results:
Pleasant Forest: 54
Sparkling Sea: 22
Rugged Mountain: 54
Icy Cave: 12
Windswept Sky: 20
Spooky Manor: 20

I'm inclined to believe both types are taken equally in consideration when visiting the Island.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of these were equal. Although with these doublepart ones it's better to have more results to see. Or do whatever Lrrr's doing (No idea what that is though.)

Sorry I haven't been testing more myself, but I've been kinda tired of testing and trying to get some more Cave stuff.

Nice. I actually tested Volcarona myself a few days ago and got similar results:

Forest: 49 (34%)
Mountain: 52 (36%)
Manor: 22 (15%)
Cave: 22 (15%)

So I'll take the Forest/Mountain combination as being an even split at least, though it wouldn't hurt for someone to do a different typed pokemon with the same preferences (e.g. Heracross, Armaldo, etc., there's plenty to pick from for this combo).

It may end up that all combinations are equal unless they involve the Manor. We'll see.

So, put in Cereza's stuff some more type preferences based on what people got the last few days. I'll re-organize the hollow stuff since that gets a little trick with level variation and location. As for the evolved mons in DWI could just put their evolutionary line with their base formes in parentheses or w/e.

Re-did the dream hollow stuff. Added (<insert base pokemon name> evolution line) to evolved Pokemon for easy searching. I fomsoene has a better format or improvement to either of those feel free to PM me.

Unown - Psychic
Arceus - Flying
Sigilyph - Psychic/Flying

Flying seems to be a dominant type with about 70% to the sky compared to psychic being only 50% to spooky manor. So that could explain the stronger affinity for sky with sigilyph if its some function based on pure typing.

Grass are about 70% to pleasant forest. So I would expect a pokemon like exeggcute to have a distribution close to sigilyph

If this is right, then I guess what this means is that the game sets a type's preferred area at a particular percentage, and when the pokemon is of a dual type, that percentage is approximately halved (or at least reduced by a set amount everytime). So if all areas except Manor are at 70-80%, then they should be visited around 35-40% of the time on average for dual types. Manor is around 50% for some reason and is reduced to around 25% for dual types.

Guess that explains why all combos tested so far bar Manor ones are about even, though I don't get why they made Manor less common :/

Everyone's scared of the manor, clearly. It's a nightmare.

Also it'd probably make sense as to why Sky tends to get more (I think?). Considering how it's pretty limited to... one single-type pokémon (Two whenever they throw Tornadus back up there)

Where the "intelligence" of TRAINERS is put to the test!

I did some more testing today!

Firstly, on my white account, I tucked in a Celebi to test Forest/Manor preferences. I got:

Forest: 43 (43%)
Manor: 28 (28%)
Cave: 9 (9%)
Sky: 10 (10%)
Mountain: 5 (5%)
Sea: 6 (6%)

The results for Celebi correlate well with the results for Sigilyph, as expected.

However, I then tested Mountain/Manor preferences by tucking in a Scraggy on my Black account and got:

Manor: 46
Mountain: 42
Cave: 11
Forest: 7

As you can see they are equal. I was a little confused by this at first, but then I checked some of the past results. Lrrr said he got 50% Manor for a Dark type, and MB Espeon got the following for Fighting (keep in mind that the sample is a bit small for this particular run):

Forest x 1
Mountain x 11 (50%)
Cave x 3
Sky x 5
Sea x 1
Manor x 1

So if the proportions are the same then it makes perfect sense that they would be liked equally!

I think I have been looking at this a bit wrong. Initially I thought that each area had its own preference rate and that this rate was EQUAL for all types that prefer it (so Fire, Fighting and Rock would all boost the rate of Rugged Mountain to the same percentage). However, these tests make me think that not only does each type prefer its own area, but each type boosts the rate of the preferred area by its own unique amount!

These are the results I got for Fire:

Mountain: 55 (about 60%)
Forest: 13
Manor: 9
Sky: 8
Sea: 4

These are the results Cereza got for Rock:

Mountain: 20 (about 95%)
Forest: 1

Now these proportions may not be absolutely correct (sample size too small, etc) but the difference between Rock and Fighting in particular is quite large.

So this is what I want to do next (or someone else if they get in before me): do a test for Solrock or Lunatone (I think these are the only Rock types that also favour the Manor). Lrrr has Psychic at 50% Manor, so if Rock really is 95% Mountain (or at least significantly higher than Psychic's rate for Manor), then these guys should visit Mountain more than Manor, assuming I'm right.

Of course, I could be completely off track, in which case never mind lol.

Tiny nitpick, but still important.

It is worth noting that it is only Braviary that has access to his Hidden Ability, and it is technically impossible to pass it down to Rufflet unless we get Rufflet in a DW area somewhere down the road.

Therefore, the "Rufflet Evolution Line" in the front page, needs to be removed.
