Welcome to the RU Ladder Cup! This is yet another attempt to get the ladder up and running again, and I think this may be a fun thing to do to get ladder activity up.

Sign-ups start immediately and will last until Wednesday, May 23rd at 2:30 pm Central time or until we get enough people to get a tourney going. Please post in and the alt you will be using in the first round. Remember, this alt has to be a fresh alt!!

How to participate:
- The Ladder Cup is run just like an official Smogon tournament. The first thread posted is the sign-ups. During the sign-ups you post "in" along with a brand new alt with which to compete.
- During the first round you will be paired with an opponent. Your goal is to reach a higher ladder ranking than your opponent by the end of the round. If at the end you have the higher ranking, you will move on to the next round and your opponent will be eliminated.
- During the subsequent rounds you will be forced to post a brand new alt with which to compete, and you and your opponent will go head-to-head once again.
- The Rounds will last exactly 3 days from the second the round is posted here in the RU sub-forum. At the end of the 3 days, I will take a screenshot of the ladder rankings, and post them in the thread. At that time I will determine the winners and then post the next round.
- All of the Rounds will take place in this thread, so keep your eyes peeled for when the round is over and the next round has started!
Ladder Cup Rules:
- Battles will be played on the Pokémon Online simulator on the Smogon University server's RU ladder.
- Absolutely no alt switching mid-round. Whatever you post as your alt in the thread for that round is the one that will be counted. You cannot under any circumstances (bar being ladder cheated against yourself) change your alt. If I find that you edited your post mid-round you will be disqualified.
- Your alt must be a fresh alt! If I find out anyone is using an old alt that started with a higher ranking than 1000 you will be disqualified!
- No Ghosting. I think this one is apparent, don't have someone fight your battles for you. But I honestly don't know who wants to fight for/with someone on the ladder for 3 days in a row.
- No Ladder Cheating. I think this one is apparent as well. If you are caught ladder cheating you will be disqualified and even possibly banned from the Smogon University server permanently.
Other policies:
- Policy on Disconnecting: If disconnecting causes you to tilt on the ladder, too bad. You'll simply have to make it up same as being haxxed out of a win on the ladder.
- Policy on team switching: So long as you are on the same alt, you can switch your team as much as you want. Have fun!
Possible Rewards for the winner, (still tbd):
- Custom title under your forum name (which may include Bolds, Italics or any Colors)
- HOPs (Half-ops status (%) in #rarelyused)
- Slightly bigger avatar and signature on the forums
