SD Groudon was good with RP back when Giratina-O wasn't common at all and when everybody was lazy to test Shaymin-S. Nowadays it really isn't viable.
i use a SD groudon on my team that works fine. you just have to use it as a wall breaker rather than a sweeper. i use SD / sub / EQ / Stone Edge with a lum berry and it works good against stall and sets up amazingly against forry and giratina-a. Trying to use RP SD is not very effective as you need so many setup turns and it still gets outsped by CS shaymin and beaten up pretty badly by priority as well
Dragon Pulse from Giratina-A can break Don's Subs I guess. I don't see a reason why would someone use Dragon Claw on Giratina-A. You won't beat Blissey and Latios anyways with Gira. So it can set up only on Forry. But so can many other things. I might try it though.
Depends on the EV's. I bet that ultimifier has EV'd his Groudon to be quite bulky. It can probably set up on other Groudon's that are of the stall variety. Other Pokemon it can set up on include Blissey and Dialga (if you can scare it out), and Choiced Thunders, although Stall teams probably won't carry any of those. However, most stall teams carry at least one pokemon his Groudon can set up on, so it does its job.
Wobbuffet cannot Counter a Dragon Claw coming from Giratina while Dragon Pulse gets Mirror Coated right back at you.
not many people are using giratina-a nowadays anyway, so lets shift the focus back to the REAL spin blocker giratina-o. This thing is seriously a fucking beast. Its like salamence in OU. It can run so many different sets its not even funny. HP fire to screw up forry. Calm mind kill a wall on stall teams and open up for a sweeper like kyogre or even CM rest talk as a last pkmn to take on more defensive teams.
expect giratina-o to make it above top 10, maybe even top 7 in the near future as it is really a great pokemon that many 'average' players overlook but will one days see the greatness of.

I was using Giratina-0 at one point. I used a bulky set with substitute, calm mind, dragon pulse, thunder, but after testing if found it way too slow and weak for me.
It was too slow to outspeed most things (read: anything), though it could generally tank a hit or two (and afterward become completely useless due to lack of recovery) and ko something, it often left me suseptable to a sweep in part because of its low speed stat.
Another thing that contributed this was its common weaknesses to common attacking types. I enjoyed the bug resistance, its ability to spin-block (though it was walled by forry anyway), and its explosion immunity, but it was way too easy to hit super effectively.
As far as its offense goes, I found it lacking. To beat, you need substitute and calm mind along with dragon pulse or aura sphere. If your other move isn't thunder, kyogre can completely set up on you. If your other move isn't shadow ball, then wobb will come in and kill you. Other combinations lead to other things walling you as well as poor type coverage in general. Even if you can hit something neutrally, g-o just doesn't have the power that latios or kyogre has to rip through things with.
The fact is that it is still slow and weak, and this will keep it down in usage.
On another note, I recently checked out the august usage stats. why don't we talk about some of the more interesting changes? Deoxys-f, darkrai, and wobbuffet usage has skyrocketed, while rayquaza usage has been reduced. Kyogre usage has gotten even more astronomically high in retaliation. Why do you think this is?
As far as leads go, Deoxys-f has made a shocking leap to #1 lead, while Deoxys-e has fallen to #2! Darkrai leads are somehow going down in usage despite its increased overall usage. What is the cause of these anomolies?

it all depends on the team you have. mixquaza is a great pokemon, but i dont use him on my team because i already had an existing ice weakness. try using an all out attack giratina or a sleep talking mono attacker. and with +nature and 252 EVs it outspeeds most pokemon and can still survive some super effective attacks

It appears that deoxys-e is already using more extremespeed in retaliation for the rise of deoxys-f lead usage! espeed is currently on 37% of the sets, which is enough to be in the top 4 moves.

But I think that most teams have to worry about mixed palkia, the lati twins, and +speed rayquaza (adamant too if you don't fully invest) enough that using Giratina-O can be a liability. If you want a wall breaker, you don't have to look much further than mixed palkia or any variety of taunt mewtwo. Another option would be to give a wobbuffet more speed evs than normal in order to get itself ahead of forretress, allowing it to encore it to death, which makes it even easier for other wall breakers to sweep (stupid explosion/ payback) . Often I find that wob takes physical attacks too well with the standard spread, causing it to only 2hko scarf chomp with counter as it dragon claws. It would probably be possible to remove enough from defense for this to not happen while also getting above forretress. After Forretress is gone, a lot of things can sweep stall even if 2 layers of toxic spikes are up, such as sd rayquaza or bulk up dialga. With all of these wall breakers, I don't see much use for something that is so weak, slow, and lacking in recovery to fill that position.

Bulky Taunt Mewtwo is incredibly annoying (albeit rare), but without any attacks on it (WoW or Toxic/Reflect or Light Screen/Taunt/Recover), a PP Stall is conceivable if you can get Forretress to spin and switch around. Also, Mewtwo doesn't like taking Draco Meteors from a Scarfer if it's the physically bulky kind. I'm more afraid of the Taunt/CM Variant, as if a smart player sacs it to cripple Blissey with Taunt and stuff, the door is open to something like Latios.
Of course, if Toxic Spikes come out, the point is irrelevant.
I'm currently testing out Lanturn in Ubers. So far, it actually works pretty well. It's gargantuan HP and numerous resistances plus getting healed by the most used attack in the tier make it a great Kyogre counter, as well as a good special sponge in general. To put this into perspective, a Timid Scarf Palkia won't even 2HKO with Spacial Rend if Lanturn has max Special Defense and a Calm nature. I'm using it on an offensive team, but its resistances could make it an asset to stall teams as well.
IMO Ludicolo is better than Lanturn, Lanturn resists the stuff like Water Spout, but it is still outspeed and 2HKOed
Oops. I forgot to mention Lanturn is also running max HP. When you take that into account, Lanturn will not be 2HKOed by Timid Choice Specs Kyogres max power Water Spout. Of course, it doesn't have as much of a free ride on Water Spout as Ludicolo, but it won't be effectively dead if it switches in on Water Spout. The main problem I see is Lanturn is lack of recovery outside of Volt Absorb. It'll seem to fit nicely on an Ubers stall team, as they generally have Blissey to patch that up.
I don't see which member of a stall team that Lanturn would be replacing, Latias/Palkia are better slots for a stall team imo, because Palkia can actually threaten Kyogre with a thunder, which is ironically stronger than Lanturn's, and isn't completely screwed by a misprediction and the opponent switches to Garchomp instead. Latias can actually calm mind infront of Kyogre, while Lanturn is a sitting duck. Specsogre is kinda rare nowadays, only appearing about 30% of time, which means Latias can beat about 70% of all kyogre, which Lanturn can only beat 45%. Blissey is easily 2hkoed by specs ogre, so don't rely on her wishes on healing your lanturn, Latias has reliable recovery and Palkia has enough speed and decent enough resistances to survive.
It sure as hell can't counter Darkrai, which is a threat to every stall team. Forrtress is absolutely needed on stall teams, and toxic spikes spell doom for it. Blissey isn't replaceable either. Groudon is needed for physical walling, and potential sr. Giratina is needed for spin blocking, as once entry hazards and forrtress are gone, it's gg for a stall team.
Personally, I never liked Giratina-o for the reasons Anachronism stated, but mostly because it is a sacrificial Pokemon. You use it to eliminate/cripple one key member of the opponent's team, thereby opening an opportunity for something to sweep, since its counter is gone.

i never really use giratina-o as i use VERY offensive teams (as a few of you have probably realized) but when i do he/she is a very unique pkmn. Gira may have a ton of weaknesses, but he has so many resistances he is very easy to bring in (just look at celebi). I'm going to be trying out a new giratina set sometime in the near future (after frosh week ends. being drunk 24/7 makes testing sets MUCH MUCH harder) and some of you will see the raw power that this behemoth possesses.

Well, Mew doesn't have any counters atm, and Block just increases its unpredictability, so I would say while it won't affect the metagame as a whole, it will definitely mess with minds.
Block Mew could be very interesting. Block Mew could single-handedly destroy stall, if Mew does actually get Block. If Mew gets Block, another Baton Pass set is now possible: one that drops Taunt for Block. Get it in on a Blissey/Forretress, and that's GG. Then, Stall teams would be forced to carry something just to counter that, as sending in a Phazer (which would deal with Block/Rock Polish/Swords Dance or Nasty Plot/Baton Pass) just gives them a free turn if it does happen to carry Taunt. Thus, a stall player either has to be a god at prediction, or he has to carry a specialized counter to both Mew sets. Personally, I have been dealing with Baton Pass teams by sending in my Taunt Mewtwo after something dies to Selfdestruct from opposing Dual Screen Mewtwo, or on the Momento from a Latios. Thus, I can Taunt the Mew, completely shutting them down. Also, another way I do it is to U-turn with my Scizor to my Lead Mew, Explode, and then send in Scizor to Bullet Punch if their Mew is still alive. CB U-turn combined with Explosion does 90%+ damage, so Bullet Punch is guaranteed to KO. However, a Stall team is unlikely to carry either of those, so I would be very interested as to how a Block Mew would influence Uber Stall.

Now that I think of it a bit more, Block Mew could be quite useful with something like Block/BatonPass/Hypnosis or RP/Taunt or RP.
If you get to block something that you can wall with a certain poke (such as a Kyogre when you have a Latias), you can pass to that poke and set-up easily for a sweep.
Also Blissey getting Heal Bell as a tutor move is signifigant as it can now run Wish on the same set.

In "project uber", Baton Pass Jolteon is considered as the success. It is not. I wanted to test him after i found the nice Kyogre-Skarmory-Jolteon synergy (Kyogre sets up rain, Skarmory sets up Spikes and walls BU Dialga, both help Jolteon immensely. ETC). In other words, using Jolt as a "set up machine" instead of Wobb.

My team counters all of those threats so i am not in a team disadvantage. On top of that my opponent did a decent amount of stupid mistakes. I lost 5-0. Plus I have managed to pass the Sub ONLY ONE time in 10 or so matches. Why? Because the sub gets broken every single fucking time by any decent attack so I can just use Baton Pass as a pseudo U-Turn. I might have tried Protect instead of Thunder but if you are missing on a STAB 120 BP move with 30 % paralyze chance you are pretty crazy (and that is what saved me against bulky Mewtwo used by another player and helped me a lot in some other games)
