Nuzlocke Challenge

Update 6

The End...

Well, Sadly, Zombeh's Nuzlocke Challenge Round 1 has ended. Winona took me out >> Here is my Last update on this challenge, starting with where I went after Watson.

I headed up past the Winstrate house, and used Rock Smash. I took out the trainers easily and then headed to the grass to see what I can catch... and I ran into:

RUBY39.jpg

A Numel!! ^^ I catch it and name it Leonard.

After that I head back to Mauville and healed then back up through the Fiery Path and run into a Koffing.

RUBY41.jpg

Also in the Path, Ike evolves. ^^
RUBY42.jpg

I catch it and name it... o.O frick. xDDD I can't remember.

Anyways, I head through to Fallarbour, and then on to Meteor Falls.

On the way to the falls i run into a Swablu, and I catch it. I NN it Sheldon ^^
RUBY55.jpg

Then I follow Magma to the Mt.
RUBY44.jpg

I crush Maxie pretty easy, still not losing any Pokes and leveling up all the way.
RUBY45.jpg

I head down the Mt. and heal up at the PKMN center in Lavaridge town. I head to the Gym and demolish Flannery. ;D
RUBY47.jpg

RUBY48.jpg

Wewt.

Well, I head back to face Norman, but before that I head back over to outside of Fallarbour town, and grind baby, grind. I did this for hours... >>

I did however get some nice results.

RUBY50.jpg

Leonard Evolves :3

After that I feel confident to take on Norman, and I do so without any hitch. ^^

RUBY52.jpg

Well, I didn't get any SS from here on out, but I did some Grinding, and Mason Evolved.
Caught an Absol named Absolom, Train Sheldon to Evolve into Altaria.

I take on Winona, and I get demolished by her Altaria and its DDancing (BAN ME PLEASE)ry.

Oh well, I will do another Nuzlocke soon. :3 Stay tuned for what version I choose!

Ouch, that sucks...also, Sheldon and Leonard? Do I see a Big Bang Theory reference? >_>

Still procrastinating on my Emerald nuzlocke because grinding for Brawly sucks.

Still procrastinating on my Emerald nuzlocke because grinding for Brawly sucks.

FINALLY someone else feels my pain. Granite cave basement 1 isn't too bad a place to train if you give a Taillow Steel Wing (2-3hko's all aron). Anyway once I stop being lazy and holychipmunk does a couple of comics i'll post the story of my emerald nuzlocke here! I'm grinding a bit before going through route 110, and when i do decide to get through it i'm going to try to get a couple mons paralyzed so that fucker gulpin don't poison me.

I started a Sapphire Nuzlocke a while ago and my current position (which I haven't worked on for a long time now) is just after Slateport, before the rival battle (next to the Trick House place).

All approximately lv19 as I recall. I think there's another team member too, but it's slipped my mind. As you can see, one member made Brawly very easy!

Inspired by the great posts, as well as by a desire to counter the slow death of Stark Mountain, I'm going to do another Nuzlocke. No storyline, but my post updates will be similar to Zombeh's, most likely. (Your Nuzlocke was awesome, it's a pity that you died. Were Leonard and Sheldon Big Bang Theory references?) For extra pain, I'm picking the game that I have only played once before: Sapphire.

Part 1: In which it all begins

After moving into town, I walked around, then walked to the north. Frantic cries for help met my ears.
Because the famous Pokémon professor couldn't take out a Level 2 Poochyena, I grabbed the Pokémon who will probably be best in terms of longevity: Lueroi the Mudkip (Jolly, obviously Lv. 5) , welcome to the team!

After killing a couple of the natives, we stepped out onto Route 103, praying that we wouldn't encounter any pokemon yet...

8gRt

Crap.

I beat May easily. Professor Birch gave me the Pokédex, May gave me Pokéballs, and my mother gave me the running shoes. (Thanks, Mom!)

8gRv

Zoroaster the Wurmple (Rash, Lv. 4) joined the team.

8gRx

After defeating every trainer on Route 102, Zoroaster evolved into Cascoon!

After watching a sick, depressed kid find a Pokémon that can sense happiness (also known as the "Oh my God I know how to catch a Pokémon, please don't make me watch" scene), we moved ahead to Route 104, where Zoroaster impressively took out the Seedot and Taillow trainer by herself.

8gRy

And far less impressively, the Zigzagoon who was about to join the team. Oh well.

Entered Petalburg Woods and encountered a frightened man. The reason for his fear became apparent shortly.

8gRz

Poor choice.

Just as I stepped into the grass, I encountered a Shroomish!

"HEY! Mr. Devon Researcher! I found you a..."

8gRB

Dang it, Zoroaster! Is this going to become a thing with you?

Ironically, the experience from slaughtering her potential teammate puts Zoroaster up a level, enabling her to evolve into Dustox. There's some kind of ambivalent moral here.

That's all for now, folks! Stay tuned for part 2, probably later tonight or tomorrow

Glad to see that people caught my references. ^^ The Big Bang Theory is my favorite show. xD

Also, glad to see people like my updates. Lol I have decided to do FireRed for my next Nuzlocke.

STAY TUNED!!!

Nothing major to say, but Zombeh's story was suprisingly good. Work on a much larger and scarier version of te Kanto fanfic has begun, but I won't actually post it until later this year. Other than that, the possibility of a Colloseum trial run exists, but I have little/no time at the moment.

Alternate rules:
If it faints, it dies.
Only one Pokemon per route.
HOWEVER: Umbreon/Espeon/Plusle do not count.
I may pick which Pokemon. Sorry, but I can only get twelve total, so I need that rule.
Legends are fair game. Once again, only eleven Pokemon available without Entei, and that is probably too hard with opponents being able to double up attacks.
Pokemarts are open, but healing supplies are restricted to those I find, but Pokeballs are unlimited.

I will eventually start this, but it will be very slow, and there will be no story. Sorry, I just felt really bad after I lost the Johto run and wrote a story. This has the possibility of going very badly, and I am working on homework an the rewrite too, so I have no time to actually spend writing.

In short, its time to test Orre.

@Ginganinja: If my Crystal worked, I would. I intend to do a Johto run (most likely without a story), and if it works, I will write a nice little (200 page) story to go with it. That won't be soon. Let's just leave it at that.

Reading all of this makes me want to start a Nuzlocke, but which is the most enjoyable? I have access to Ruby, FireRed, Diamond, Platinum and HeartGold. Which is the best?

Personally, I would say HeartGold, just because of the sheer number of potential Pokémon. It's not easy, though, but it's more fun.

FireRed is surprisingly hard to Nuzlocke. You think you're doing great, and then you hit Cerulean City and there's two big battles and nowhere good to train. I've never gotten past that, so it might pick up from there.

I'm doing Sapphire right now. It's pretty fun, but your team will probably have a Zigzagoon, Wurmple, and Whismur at an early point in the game. If you're fine with a bit of predictability, Ruby is pretty fun.

Platinum would probably be harder than Diamond because of the increased number of trainers and levels and such. I've never gone farther than about Jubilife, but it seems like it would be pretty fun.

tl;dr: I would say HeartGold, but all the games are fun.

Hmm, I think I'll try HeartGold then. I should grind a bit for Falkner's Pigeotto-bitch, right?

Also, you can return to routes you've been before to train, right?

#nuzlocke is still active, even though we barely talk about nuzlockes unless there's a race going on.

I'm also doing a Mono-Shedinija run of Sapphire, and it's boring as hell. You need to grind to like level 45 just for Roxanne.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I won the #nuzlocke HGSS race. Lost 23 mons and had to solo Kanto (including Red) with Mamoswine. :\ but still won.

And Clair, and Koga, and Karen and, and, and...

Personally I'd say HG is actually the hardest and FR/LG is the easiest. LG espescially because Starmie rapes the game.

Well, let's just hope I can make it. I hope I can do it without too much grinding.

I would do it on Diamond, but I've played through Sinnoh like 10 times before, so I know everything already :(

I might do another HG run shortly. Tempted to do it with Chikorita since thats about the hardest.

In HG I always force myself to face Cal who has quite frankly awesome movesets on his pokemon. His AI is not too shabby either

@iss Wow, my friend is doing a Ninjask/Shedinja only run of Emerald. Seems to be a popular theme

Part 2: In which a tragedy occurs

We quickly annihilated the rest of Route 104 and entered Rustboro City. Route 116 beckoned.

8hEl

Zoroaster refrained from being bloodthirsty long enough to capture a new Pokémon, Lucy the Taillow!

8hEm

Lucy died in her first battle. Maybe Zoroaster wasn't being kind... In vengeance for Lucy, I cleaned out the whole route.

The gym was easy. Lueroi killed everything easily with Water Gun and Mud-Slap. Roxanne yielded quickly, giving us the Stone Badge!

8hEn

...only 7 more to go.

8hEp

I caught a Lonely Whismur in Rusturf Tunnel. It was amazingly surprising. Per the request of my friend, who was watching me play, I named it UrMomInBed.

We rescued Peeko, and Mr. Briney swore a life-debt to us. He went from being a respectable Wookie leader to helping me to smuggle goods across Hoenn (his ship can make the Dewford run in less than 12 parsecs!).

8hEq

...anyway. On Dewford, I encountered a Relaxed Zubat, and named it Chocula (Not a lot of originality in this post, from either the RNG or me.)

8hEt

While killing everything that could move in Granite Cave, Lueroi evolved!

8hEv

Lueroi died a tragic death in Brawly's gym, fighting against a Meditite. Without him, I was kind of screwed, so I was forced to do the unthinkable: Go after a Magikarp.

8hEw

Except I caught a Tentacool (Hardy) instead! I named it Blueray, cause it sounds kind of like Lueroi and it's blue and it shoots rays.

8hEx

I went to Slateport to train against better Pokémon and caught Dwight the Electrike (Modest) on Route 110.

And that's all for now. A depressingly boring section, with the loss of my strongest team member. I'll post again once I finish training.

@Embreon:

Awwww. R.I.P. Lueroi. That really sucks. I hate when you lose a vital part of your team.

I have all my SS for my FireRed update #1. Just have to upload them. ^^

Zombeh's Nuzlocke Challenge: Round 2 (FireRed)

Hello, Hello, Hello. ^^

Seeing as my last Nuzlocke Challenge came to a screeching halt, (Damn you Winona, and your DDancing Altaria >>) I decided to try once again. This time, however, I am going to embark on journey through Kanto (FireRed).

I start off by naming my character Zombeh. (Who woulda thunk it? xD)
I name my rival Leon (Wonder who will catch the reference? :P)

Time to start off on a magnificent journey!
FR1.jpg

I try to head out of Pallet, but of course Oak won't let me. xD He drags me to his Pokemon Lab, and there I see Leon. >> That prick.

Oak flaps his gums about some useless junk, then tells me to pick a Pokemon. ^^ Of course, I pick Charmander. Hopefully a fire type starter will serve me better than a grass starter... (R.I.P. Mason. D:).
FR4.jpg

I NN my Timid Charmander "Alexander". What a crap nature. >>

btw, I checked the IVs (for lawls) and here was the spread.
22-31/0-31/30/31/26/30

Ha. Not too shabby. xD

Anyways, as I try to leave, Leon wants to fight. >> Bring it, punk.
FR5.jpg

I mopped the floor with that idiot. xD You would think he would be better at this... his "Gramps" IS the leading Pokemon Researcher.

After the battle, I make my way up to Viridian City, taking out many Pidgey and Rattata along the way.

The store clerk dumps a package on me and says for me to take it back to Prof. Oak. Forsrs? >>
FR6.jpg

On the way back to Pallet, I level up a bit more, and realize that this is the highest I have ever gotten a Pokemon before getting Pokeballs. xD
FR7.jpg

Oak is all happy, and he gives me and Leon a Pokedex.
FR8.jpg

Wewt.

As I go through Viridian, I have to watch that old fart catch a Weedle. lolz. I know for sure that my first catch will be way more epic that a Weedle. xD

SO, I head up past Viridian to Route 2, and run into the grass to see what I can catch... Screen flashes... Epic music plays... the battle scene appears... and its... A... Weedle. >> RNG Karma bit me in ass.

I might as well catch it... I NN it Jimmy, and go about my way.
FR9.jpg

I head over to Route 22, and decide that the RNG would be nicer, so I take one step into the grass, and run into... a Mankey! Sweet. I will need this for Brock.
I catch it and NN it Borris. Hasty nature too. Not too shabby. ;D
FR10.jpg

So, as it stands now...

I'm out here Grindin' xDD

i feel like i am gonna enjoy your fire red run(probably because i got the reference).

i wish you good luck even though i got no idea why timid charmander sucks.

...i feel like i should start one this night for a change.

P.S: RIP lueroi.
