Derpybro is the derpiest pokemon there is!
[Overview]
-Slowbro returns to UU this Generation sporting his normal amazing physical defense and a fantastic new ability, Regenerator which heals one third of his HP every time he switches out!
-Slowbro hits hard from the special side with a Base 100 Special Attack but takes hits impeccably from the physical side
[SET]
name: Tank
move 1: Scald
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Slack Off
move 4: Fire Blast / Toxic
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4SpA
[SET COMMENTS]
-Scald is your best Water move, hitting pretty hard and getting a 30% chance to spread burn which completely neutralizes most Physical threats
-Surf is a viable alternative if you don't want to spread Burns. Surf is recommended with Thunder Wave if you're using it. Also, some UU Pokemon have Synchronize which makes Surf a fine choice for Slowbro
-Psychic is the best secondary STAB, hitting Fighters like Heracross and Hitmontop for super-effective damage.
-A Fire move rounds out coverage against Steels like Registeel and Escavalier and Cobalion. Also lets you hit Celebi on the switch and possibly KO a weakened one.
-You can always use Thunder Wave or Toxic on Slowbro to spread status, but it could be a little counterproductive with Scald. If you use one of those moves, use Surf over Scald
-Slack Off is obligatory recovery move
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
-Incredible physical bulk with maximum investment
-Hits hard from the Special side with high-powered STABs
-Regenerator lets it heal as it switches out, drastically improving durability
-Ice Beam is usable over Psychic or a coverage move, but you really only get coverage on Flygon and Altaria, the former Slowbro beats and the latter isn't seen often in UU...
-Cleric Chansey or Celebi make good teammates if Slowbro gets Toxiced. Toxic ruins Slowbro so a cleric is recommended.
-Surf can be used on any set over Scald if you prefer power over the 30% Burn chance
[SET]
name: Calm Mind
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Scald
move 3: Slack Off
move 4: Psyshock / Psychic
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP/252Def/4 SpA
[SET COMMENTS]
-This Slowbro tries to check threats that would beat the above set by boosting its Special Attack and Special Defense while maintaining its excellent physical bulk
-
-Scald becomes the main option here to Burn physical attackers that could end Slowbro's sweep.
-Psyshock hits the ubiquitous Chansey, though you only 4KO at +1. It also allows you to win CM wars against other set-up sweepers
-Slack Off is reliable recovery because a setup attacker like Slowbro doesn't want to rely on Regenerator to heal
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
-Make sure there are no Toxic Spikes on your side for any Slowbro, especially this one because it needs to stay alive for as long as possible without abusing Regenerator
-Celebi is THE CM Slowbro counter, able to set up with Nasty Plot or Swords Dance and laugh at Slowbro's Not Very Effective attacks
-Fire Blast or Flamethrower is viable, but Slowbro'll miss out on a nice STAB move.
-Surf is allowed over Scald for increased power
Set: Trick Room
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Slack Off
move 3: Scald
move 4: Psychic / Psyshock
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
IVs: 0 Spd
[SET COMMENTS]
-Sets up Trick Room very well because of bulk and Regenerator
-One of the best TR setup Pokemon because it will usually switch after using Trick Room, so this set abuses Regenerator very well
-Scald is used over Surf for the burn chance
-Psychic is used over Psyshock because Slowbro would like to hit a little harder and will usually switch out after one turn anyway
-EVs and IVs are self-explanatory, more bulk, less speed
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
-A coverage move like Fire Blast is always viable to hit Grasses, but since TRBro switches out to sweepers so often it's not as important to hit incoming threats
-Teammates include Trick Room sweepers like Rhyperior, Bisharp (covers Bug weakness and reaches 130 Speed), Escavalier, or possibly Snorlax
-Surf can be used over Scald like always.
[Other Options]
-Counter can beat Scarf Heracross's or Escavalier's Megahorn, but Slowbro already has a bit of four moveslot syndrome
-Choice Specs can be used, but with Chansey everywhere you can get forced out easily. Choice Specs should use max HP and SpA and have Surf, Fire Blast, Psychic or Psyshock, and Grass Knot
-Grass Knot is a usable alternative to hit other Slowbro and bulky Waters like Milotic and Suicune, but UU Waters are so bulky that Grass Knot won't usually do enough damage to deter them
[Counters]
-Celebi. It won't like a ton of Fire Blasts, but can Recover off damage and set up a Swords Dance, Nasty Plot, or Leech Seed. On a similar note, other grasses like Roserade and Shaymin can force Slowbro out with Leaf Storm or Seed Flare. Roserade doesn't like to switch into Psychic or Fire attacks, though.
-Toxic Spikes ruin all Slowbro so a Rapid Spinner is recommended. Hitmontop is a good choice because it resists Bug and Dark
-Chansey walls Slowbro to hell and back, but doesn't like Toxic if Chansey is the foe's last Pokemon
-Rotom formes hit hard, but cannot switch into Scalds.
-Electrics like Jolteon and Zapdos can beat Slowbro, too. Specs Jolteon OHKOs with Thunderbolt and OHKOs about 50% of the time with Volt Switch
-Heracross can come in on a lot of moves and hit Slowbro for about 70% with Megahorn
I'm not sure about the second set's viability, I'll test it but I would like to know what QC members think of it.
