Anyways, welcome to another battle on the CAP ASB Tournament Arena, but with a slight difference! One side, we have a newcomer to CAP ASB: King Serperior, looking to have a promising debut. On the other hand, we have TheMogRunner, a long time user of CAP ASB, who has come back from a hiatus some time ago. Here is a recap of the regulations.

Description: Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about 4.5m wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is 24m wide, 33m long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than 18m). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Today, there is a minor twist with this battle! You see, a small disk called "The Randomiser" has been placed somewhere in the arena, & at the end of each round, it applies one of five different random effects, eack having a 1/5 chance of occuring. The five different effects are as follows:

• The moat around the arena becomes frozen. Any pokes in the water when this happens is completely immobilised unless they melt the ice. It unfreezes after a round has been finished.
• A Flock of Togekiss land close by and cause all added effects to be doubled.
• A Chansey runs out, uses Heal Bell, and runs back.
• Gravity is activated in the Arena
• All other randomiser effects disappear.

The battle starts with no randomiser effect.

Rivalry: (Innate)This Pokemon has a primal response to competition and mating, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its attacks by two (2) when it attacks an opponent of the same gender in the same Egg Group, and decreasing the power of all its attacks by two (2) when it faces an opponent of the opposite gender in the same Egg Group (Monster/Ground are used for Nidorina/Nidoqueen).
Hustle(DW -Locked): (can be enabled)This Pokemon puts immense force and speed in its physical attacks, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by three (3), but the haste used lowers their accuracy to 80% of normal.

These Pokemon come in two flavors. Either they are trained and disciplined masters of targeted strikes and ki attacks, or wild, savage Pokemon with innate battling instincts far above their peers. In either case, these Pokemon have powerful, dense muscles that allow them to throw targets of almost any weight if asked to do so, regardless of their own size. Their discipline allows them to Meditate and Cheer Up at a lower energy cost.

Summary: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Stunky[Diet Poison](M)

Type:
Poison:
Poison shares a lot in common with Normal, at least as far as being generalist and having poor super effective coverage. Its greatest advantage though is its complete immunity to toxins. Poison-types can survive in toxic waste sites, deserted city dumps, abandoned playgrounds, anywhere pollution drives out other Pokemon. Poison-types will never choke on or be blinded by smog, smokescreens, sludge, or anything other than direct solid material (such as sand or mud) into their eyes. Other common poisonous critters are snakes, who in addition to their toxic tendencies can also squeeze the life out of opponents or paralyze them with a snake glare.
Summary: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.
Dark:
Dark types are often portrayed as inherently malevolent, but this is not the case. What Dark-types do posses is a fierce mental presence that makes them immune to the effects of psychic suggestion and control. This presence also disables psychic waves surrounding an incoming object, stopping it dead in its tracks as it falls harmlessly to the ground. Dark-types are nocturnal for the most part, and thus battle very effectively in caves, at night, or in otherwise darkened conditions. While any total darkness will do, Dark-types are also the best at navigating confusing half-light situations such as twilight or dawn battles, where shadows can confuse or disorient other Pokemon. This perception does not necessarily extend to structural problems deep in caves, as while Dark-types can discern anything in their immediate vicinity, they aren't naturally in-tune with the echoes of earth vibrations. Dark-types are very vengeful by nature and happily use retaliatory attacks. In addition, Dark-types are more endeared to trickery and deviousness, and can use attacks like Nasty Plot and Taunt even if infatuated.
Summary: Dark STAB; immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.

This Pokemon has a foul odor that reeks into each of its attacks, causing all of them to have a 10% flinch rate. This applies to each hit of a multi-hit move.

Aftermath:(Innate)
If this Pokemon uses Selfdestruct or Explosion, the attack has ten (10) more Base Attack Power and five (5) more Energy Cost to execute.

(DW)Keen Eye:(Innate)
This Pokemon has extremely good vision and cannot have its accuracy lowered by an opponent through any means (including accuracy lowering attacks, Smogs, Hazes, Fog, etc.). Its attacks are still affected by an opponent’s evasion and the Pokemon's own accuracy.(LOCKED)

Goku appears from his pokeball, does a flip in the air, and enters into a battle stance.

Alrightio, Sorry KS, but I'm afraid that your substitution is illegal (Confirmed by SDS on IRC), & as a result, I am forced to ignore it (Not that it will have any impact on the current round anyway). You could say "If A2 critical, do something on A3", but that is illegal. Fir the record, it wouldcount as two subs anyway, should it be legal. Anyways, the round.

KING SERPERIOR VS. THEMOGRUNNER

Round One - A First Round!

After all the introductions, the battle started with King Serperior sending in a Riolu named Goku! Shortly after, his opponent decided to send in a Riolu named Rum! All said & done, it looked like the first few rounds was going to be a speed tie loaded mirror match! And with the drop of a green flag, the battle was on.

The battle started with an eager Goku making the first move, shrieking at the top of his voice to try & offset Rum, but it was his nervousness that ended up making the shriek run off course & miss Rum. Lucky for Rum, not so lucky for Goku. Of course, being a first battle such nervousness was natural...Anyway, Rum then decides to take advantage of the minor boon he got by doing some crazy dance which sends swords swirlling up into the sky, making Rum just that little bit more sharp.

After the first action, a damage race had started to ensue, with Goku winning the tie again to make a quick thrust at Rum, whacking him with a thrust of his palm, knocking Rum back a couple of metres towards the arena edge. But then Rum used this to prepare a counter-attack, rushing towards Goku & whacking him with a powerful, fiery kick which struck Goku & sent him a few metres back towards the arena centre.

Not giving up, Rum wins the tie this time & takes advantage in the form of a swinging chop, which he uses to strike Goku, knocking him back a little bit more. Still feeling a little bit nervous, being his first battle, Goku fights back by jumping up, doing a somersault, before using his feet to pound the arena surface with all his might, causing the earth to rumble. This proves a little bit too much for Rum, who was unable to withstand the inacessant shaking & fell over, taking a fair bit of damage. And as the shaking finished, he got back up.

With the round end, both Pokemon are situated near the centre of the arena, neither giving a centimetre to each other, but it seems that the unfortunate Screech miss means that Rum appears to be winning the damage race. But suddenly, "The Randomiser" A disk located somewhere in the arena, starts spinning & as it stops, it beeps, causing a flock of Chansey to enter the arena! At this point, they end up chiming some random bell they have, healing all status afflictions that the two Riolu had, i.e. none. After the Chansey left the arena, the distracted Riolu then returned their concentration to the battle at hand. What will happen next round? Stay tuned.

KING SERPERIOR VS. THEMOGRUNNER

Round Two - Riolu Boogaloo...

After a shaky first round where nerves were high, the second round was about to begin in earnest! What will this round entail for our two competitors? We shall see.

Goku opens the round by thrusting his palm into Rum, striking him hard & knocking him back a fair bit, almost as if to say, it was a critical hit! As Rum crashes to the ground, he then gets up & simply responds weakly with another stupid dance which sees swords swirling around him, making him look more sharp.

Goku then decides at this point to resort to intimidatory skills, letting off a loud shriek, which unlike last time, manages to affect Rum & offset him, making Rum feel weaker. Not concerned about that, Rum simply does another dance involving swirling holographic swords.

Going into the final action, both Pokemon stop their stat wars, as Goku rushes to Rum again & thrusts his palm right into him, knocking him back just that little bit further & dealing damage, however, this didn't concern Rum the least, as he suddenly went ahead & used the attack as energy, which he then transferred into one mighty swing, counterpuching Goku & knocking him back a long way. At this point the round came to an end.

At this point, Both Pokemon are of a reasonable distance apart, near the centre of the arena, but suddenly, The Randomiser beeps again & this time, you notice a flock of Togekiss entering the arena & coming to a rest! Looks like for the next few rounds at least, there is going to be a lot of hax...So, King Serperior seems to have the current edge, but what will he do to capitalise? And what could TheMogRunner do to take back the advantage? Stay tuned.

Round Three - High Pressure Damage Race!

Two Round complete & it's fairly even as far as the battle is concerned, but what will happen this round? We shall see.

The round kicks off with the unlucky Rum finally winning another speed tie to siphon some of his life force to create what looked like a stuffed doll before exiting. Goku, unaware of Rum's whereabouts, strikes the stuffed doll with his palm, knocking it back, but it still lives.

Not satisfied with the result, Goku then thrusts his palm into the stuffed doll again, this time ripping it apart, & making Goku realise that he wasted his energy into ripping apart a stuffed doll that looked like Rum! This made him surprised, & as a result, he did not see Rum advance on him & swipes him with a powerful kick enveloped in fire, knocking him back.

This leaves the two wounded warriors to face each other & it was Goku who was the first to pounce, jumping in the air & pounding the ground with his feet, creating a powerful tremour which shakes the arena. Rum was unable to endure this & ended up collapsing under pressure, never to get up again. This forces TheMogRunner to recall Rum, as he readies another Pokemon tro take out Goku!

So, King Serperior delivers the first blow in this battle, but there is still a long way to go, as the Randomiser sent in another flock of Chansey in, healing the status afflictions of all active Pokemon...What will happen next round? We shall see soon enough...

Round Four - Out of Luck...

As King Serperior went up 3-2, TheMogRunner replaces Rum with Diet Poison the Stunky! How will Diet Poison fare against an increasingly worn out Goku? Read on.

Opening the round, Diet Poison advances towards Goku & slashes him with his claws, striking for a lot of damage, as Goku responds with the tried & true palm thrust, dealing damage, & paralysing Diet Poison! This does not look good...

And it doesn't for Diet Poison, as Goku jumps into the air & pounds the ground with his feet, causing a tremour which shakes Diet Poison, knocking him over. Diet Poison then tries to respond to it, but suddenly, electricity runs amok through Diet Poison, locking him in place! It also resulted in the paralysis weakening, however...

For the last action, Goku thrusts his palm into Diet Poison again, knocking him back & refreshing the paralysis! So much hax...Capping off the round, Diet Poison literally bites back, chomping on Goku...Who survives by the narrowest of margins...

As the round comes to a close. the Randomiser sends out yet another flock of Chansey, who end up healing Diet Poison's paralysis. It seems like TheMogRunner is out of luck at the moment, as Goku appears to be clutching! What will happen next round? We shall see.

Round Six - Tyrant's Stand...

With Goku gone, King Serperior decides that it is a good time to send in Tyrant the Nidoran M! Seeing Diet Poison, Tyrant instantly sees this as a foe & is imbued with Rivalry! How this will turn out? Let's see.

Diet Poison, feeling the lack of need to be aggressive, decides to resort to shrieking Tyrant to offset his aggresion. It affects Tyrant, but not enough for him to start hammering Diet Poison with a cold beam of ice, striking Diet Poison & dealing damage.

Diet Poison was annoyed by this, & thinking that the first shriek failed, he decided that it was a good idea to shriek again, offsetting Tyrant a little bit more, but it still didn't stop him from firing a bolt of lightning at Diet Poison, zapping him & unluckily for TheMogRunner, Paralysing Diet Poison again...This was not going well...

At this point, Tyrant felt that it was time to really put the hurt in Diet Poison, crashing into him with the might of his head, putting Diet Poison in a critical condition, but also hurting Tyrant a little bit as well. Diet Poison then finally came to his senses at this point, realising that the shrieking was doing nothing useful, Diet Poison pounced towards Tyrant, chomping on him & dealing a lot of damage, if only because of all the shrieking.

At the end of the round, we have Diet Poison in dire straits, against a relatively healthy Tyrant, as the Randomiser does nothing of consequence, since the Gravity was already intense. What will happen next round? Well, let's wait & see what these two trainers do...
