League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

Febwinstreak.jpg

Will you look at that...

Hey guys, been lurking the thread for a while now, and probably would have continued doing so if I hadn't had this troll game that I felt you guys might get a kick out of, or at least enjoy nitpicking everything that's wrong, lol.

x0xijq.jpg

My friends and I went into this game completely expecting to get dominated, and we were early game, but once mid/late game hit and we started moving around as a team we ended up winning most of the teamfights.

But yeah, if any of you guys want to add me feel free to do so. Can't really say how good I am since I'm scared shitless of ranked, but I've been playing since shortly after the Talon release. I love 3s so if any of you guys ever want to do Twisted Treeline feel free to invite me.

wouldve been better with like jungle alistar or something instead of clarity zilean i think but still looks like it was a lot of fun, also if youre gonna hide the usernames you should probably remember to hide them in the top right of the screen as well :p

so guys
i don't play normal
and i'm not 30 so i don't play ranked
it sounds so lame, but basically I only play AIs or customs with friends because the last few normals i played were so horrible because the community sucks so much
i keep trying to get friends to play so that we can play as a team and not have to deal with other people, but i really only have one friend who plays on a regular basis
tl;dr lol players are douchebags

Decided to keep a record of my ranked campaign. I'm currently W3 L0:

Match 1: Shen

Our jungle Shyvana disconnects before the game even begins. I destroy top lane, and Akali in mid also wins comfortably. I don't hear much from bottom lane for most of the game apart from when the Vayne who was trying to solo top against me decides to go down for a 3 man push. I ult in and get a double kill. We proceed to win the 4v5 with little problems.

Victory: 6-0-9

Match 2: Shen

Last pick Fiddlesticks tries to jungle with clarity and no smite. I constantly advise him to take Smite in champ select but he does nothing. I then tell him to just lane with me in top but he's adamant that he's going to jungle, and decides to start at wolves then blue. I give him a big leesh on wolves and it still takes him until 1:56 to kill them. I then give him an even bigger leesh on Blue and he fails to even kill it because apparently he doesn't know how his W works and tries to walk around while it's channeling. he eventually gives up and goes and dies to red buff instead. Fiddlesticks is completely useless for the entire match and dies to various jungle camps several times. I heavily out farm Dr. Mundo on top, who also gives away first blood by trying to tower dive me, then calls me a "lucker noob" for coming out of the exchange with over half health. Mordekaiser wins middle lane with ease. I have to ult down to bottom lane to save Ezreal and Taric from several ganks but luckily they don't fall too far behind. Through proper warding and map control we pull out the win.

Victory: 6-0-13

Match 3: Shen

Forced to share a lane with a brazilian mordekaiser who doesn't know how to jungle (or lane) and doesn't tell anybody until we're locked in. I just decide to take as much CS as I can because I need to carry. A few clutch ultimates save our suicidal vayne and make it look like she's not fucking retarded (she was), I finally die because there's only so many times I can save my AD carry if they decide to keep trying to 1v4 everyone. We win because I taunt everyone in several team fights and they can't do shit about it.

Victory: 2-1-9

My first death. Fuck Vayne.

Played one ranked game. Won one ranked game. I dominated solo top lane as singed and then I went all suicidal while we were pushing base. The only thing I regret about that game is 3 Mexicans caps raging at each other while we talked in black language. And to make it even better, I'm white.

We were actually going to have a Kayle instead of the Zilean so we'd have someone actually suited to the ad carry position, but my friends changed their minds at the last second and Sona really wanted to troll hard. None of us had much experience with Alistar either, otherwise he likely would have been there somewhere.

Also oops yeah I totally forgot that section, lol.

This patch makes it even more clear that riot hates healers in bot lane and wants more kill/poke lanes to be prevalent. However best change of the patch is imo "Important items purchased by your team will now be called out in chat (Aura items, Sight and Vision Wards, top tier items, etc)". Hurray now when we are horribly losing i can spam chat with buying and selling wards.

Re: Fiora Spotlight

From what I can tell, the optimal skilling order should be W > Q > E, not what is recommended by Phreak in the spotlight (E > W > Q). What do we get by leveling each skill?

Lunge (Q): -2 seconds cooldown, +25 base damage (+50 per two hits).
It's a straight 50 more damage on your laning opponent each time the cooldown's up, every 16 / 14 / 12/ 10 / 8 seconds, if you choose to use it that way. It's also your gap-closer against ranged laners, a fleeing opponent and can be used to juke ganks.

Riposte (W): -1 second cooldown, +50 base damage, +5 bonus AD.
The base cooldown is nearly half that of Lunge, so despite a lower flat reduction in cooldown it's nearly equal in terms of the uptime increase. However, in addition to leveling for the same base damage increase, it also blocks the damage of the attack it deflects! The bonus AD gain, while very small, makes lasthitting easier and does scale your other abilities slightly.

"But Mr.E, Riposte doesn't do any damage if they don't attack into it!" You're right. While it's unlikely the opponent will avoid attacking into it 100% of the time, even if we assume they do, either way you're mitigating potential damage. (Not attacking = 0 damage!) An active Riposte means 1-2 free autoattacks on the opponent that they can't do anything about, which is worth far more than +50 damage per 2x Lunge (one basic attack = 60-100 damage even early). Dealing even more damage on top of that, should the opponent attack into it, is icing on the cake.

Burst of Speed (E): -1 second cooldown, +15% AS, +2/4/6% movespeed.
How much is an extra 15% AS worth? In a duration of three seconds, not much. To save you the math, it buys you one extra basic attack about 1/3 of the time, depending on your level and items. That is roughly equivalent to a damaging spell that increases in base damage by 1/3*(total AD + on-hit effects).

At Level 3? That's 64.1/3 = +21.36~ damage per point, up to 81.01/3 = +27.016~ damage per point with AD runes plus a Doran's Blade or Long Sword. Compared to Lunge, that's half the damage per skill point and it requires a solid three seconds of autoattacking, rather than instant damage! CC will screw you: Irelia stun & run, Udyr stun & run, Lee Sin Safeguarding away, Teemo blind... Compared to Riposte, the four extra autos you get during a BoS is worth 20 additional damage just from its passive bonus AD, let alone the additional benefits Riposte provides. Oh, and the cooldown reduction per level is the worst of all her skills. It has the lower -1s reduction of Riposte but the high base cooldown of Lunge, so leveling it provides the lowest increase in uptime per point.

Burst of Speed gets better later on in the game, as autoattacks scale much better than Lunge and Riposte do. Maybe you level it second, so you'll have it maxed by the time you get hold of Wriggle's + IE and laning starts to break down, but the damage increase on Lunge will still be competitive then and the cooldown reduction on it is more meaningful.

Can't argue with that assessment.

I have 9199 ip. Can't decide if I should buy her or not. Fell in love with Ziggs during his free week but didn't buy him. Played my first Naut game tonight and went 7/2/5 before the enemy team surrendered. Don't really know how to build him. Going bot isn't realistic in solo queue normals and neither is jungling imo. I went solo top and built Philo/HoG first because I was worried he would be hard to last hit with. (He wasn't.) I then went Warmog's and Abyssal (had Kayle, AP Nid, and Akali). I took Tabi as my boots 2 because I was laning against Riven and GP was their only scary champ. And since I went Tabi I built Eleisa's Miracle. Then they surrendered.

Ziggs->Fiora->Naut

Would be my suggested purchase order.

Ziggs is a fairly unique Ap caster.

Fiora has that new car smell but realistically Tryn and Yi are superb to her.

Naut is fun-ish but team dependent.

Played her during free week. Was not a fan. I'm mostly good with tanks and APs so that's part of it. I've tried learning ranged AD with Trist but I HATE duo lanes. I'd rather be 1v2 than 2v2. (I do well as a support, though.)

From what I've seen, Fiora excels at dueling (1v1 me bro), but when teamfights come around, she gets blown up easily. Her ultimate making her untargetable is a bit nightmarish if she's already fed, but it's the only way that she can reach her target. And when she gets there? If someone turns to her, BAM, she's gone.

On an unrelated note - I'm trying to pick up more champs for solo top and jungle - any suggestions? I have 7k IP to blow and I'm currently eyeing Udyr and Gangplank.
Those 2 are my 2 most played champs of this season.
Udyr is a great champ to pick up. He's one of the easiest champs to play solo top, matching up great against almost all of the melee tops. Although he has trouble with any ranged tops since he has to rush right towards them if he wants to do any damage. Great sustain and a shield with his turtle, a decent gap closer/escape with bear, excellent burst/harass with tiger and, well there's phoenix, which I don't have much experience with in-lane.
In the jungle, he has a fast clear time with his phoenix and almost always has high health thanks to turtle, which lets you gank just about whenever you want.
Gangplank really isn't that good of a jungler in my opinion, and it's generally easy to counter jungle him. His ganks are mediocre if his teammates lack any hard cc and he's kinda slow. He's much better sticking to top lane where he can get fast levels and then get free assist gold with his ult.

For any other Junglers/Solo tops, Shyvana, Jarvan and Olaf jump to mind. Shyvana has a fast clear time and is a great counter jungler. Not the best solo top, but can hold her own against most. Jarvan has great cc for ganks, whether in top lane or in the jungle, and being able to lock down an enemy is such a great tool against any mages/carries that don't have an escape during team fights. Olaf is a good champ, but I don't have enough experience with him to really comment on him.

And completely off topic;
JVmNn.jpg

I finally got my first Pentakill in ranked, and it was in a fairly intense game. We would always win a team fight, then lose the next, only to win the one after that. Both teams split the number of Barons and Dragons fairly equally. Top was a weak point for both teams, with Shen missing a few opportunities to ult and turn a fight around early game, and Yorick wasting his ult in a number of fights. He managed to "misclick" his ult 5 times on himself/janna. I was able to get a pentakill in a fight just outside of our base, then rush down and take an inhib and their nexus (both nexus turrets were destroyed earlier), while Gragas defended our base from the 2 destroyed inhibitors.
