Hey there, welcome to my RMT, DJ Kyurem. My clan, Assassin's Alliance, is having a contest to see who could build the best team around Kyurem-B. This is my entry. Now, you may be wondering, "Why is this called DJ Kyurem?" Well, it's because I love music, and I've found the perfect song for Kyurem and all of his teammates. All the songs are from the band Three Days Grace. You can find links to the songs when you click the Pokemon's picture. Now, on to the team building process and the detailed look of DJ Kyurem.

Here we start of with Kyurem-B, the base of the team.

Next we have Kyurem's best friend, Rotom-W. The two compliment each other very well.

Chalk Outline (Kyurem-Black) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Teravolt
EVs: 64 Atk / 204 SAtk / 240 Spd
Hasty Nature
- Outrage
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt

This song describes Kyurem-B's relationship with the Ubers. He's the main reason this team is here today. With his sky-high attack, he can even 2HKO a Ferrothorn. But his lackluster speed lets him down, plus the fact that his movepool isn't exactly... great. That's why he's not Uber. Thankfully, this team has the support he needs to make a home in OU. I had originally had a Physical Scarf set, but then I tried Special LO. It was okay, but I still needed the speed. Then I tried this, and it's great! I get sweet coverage, and can still take advantage of Kyurem's outstanding Attack and sweet Special Attack stat.

The High Road (Rotom-Wash) @ Iron Ball
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 96 Def / 20 SAtk / 156 SDef
Calm Nature
- Trick
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump

The song describes Kyurem and Rotom's relationship. They really are a good couple. I know it's kind of weird to have Iron Ball on Rotom, but then you see Trick. Rotom's job is to find the opponent's fastest Pokemon, then use Trick and slow it down so Kyurem is fast enough to outspeed most of the opponent's team. It also finds Kyurem's threats like Terrakion, and burns them so their Fighting type moves won't damage Kyurem as much. Volt Switch is to keep the momentum going, and Hydro Pump is to just screw stuff up.

Over and Over (Cloyster) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Hydro Pump

This song describes the feelings of Cloyster's many victims. This thing can really kick some serious behind. All it needs is a spinner and priority taken care of (courtesy of Rotom). It's basically the standard SmashSweep set, not much to say about it. Hydro Pump over Razor Shell because I've done the calculations, it's more powerful.

I Hate Everything About You (Breloom) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Low Sweep
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch

The song describes my thoughts toward Breloom. I hate him when he's against me, but I love him when he's on my team. Breloom is just an absolute beast. Spore the opponent, then proceed to be a boss. Low sweep is for the opponent's switch-in to outspeed him, and then hit them hard with a Technician boosted Bullet Seed or Mach Punch. Life Orb just boosts how much damage he deals."

Expectations (Heatran) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 196 HP / 252 SAtk / 60 Spd
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Grass]

This song describes this set. Everybody expects Heatran to be a weather counter or a support Pokemon, but almost nobody suspects Specs (that's such a tongue twister) until they've seen their most powerful Pokemon go down easily. He can tank dragon hits, and then hit back with just as much force. HP Grass surprises the water types that try and switch into it, and Dragon Pulse hits Mence back. Heatran usually kills maybe 1 or 2 pokemon per match, or at least severely cripples a few.

Gone Forever (Donphan) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball

The song describes Donphan's usage in OU. Seriously, I barely see any when I battle. He can spin away rocks and other hazards that Kyurem and Cloyster don't like, and he can hit hard with Gyro Ball and EQ. He also sets hazards himself. Hi Defense is also very nice, so he can tank Fighting type attacks like a boss. The 0 Speed IVs are so that he can have the most power possible with Gyro Ball.

So anyways, there's my team, DJ Kyurem. It was originally just a team for a contest, but then it actually turned out to be a successful team. I've laddered to around 1750 on PS, which is sky-high for me. Thanks for seeing the team, and I hope you an give me some awesome suggestions to make it the best it can possibly be. Be sure to luvdisc if you like!

Hello! This is a pretty cool team, and there isn't much to say about it. Let's get started, then.

-Please change your colors on Kyu-B, Cloyster, and Breloom. Those colors are sooo bright.. It made it very difficult to read the descriptions of them with those light colors.

-Now, for Rotom-W. It has a very weird EV spread. I suggest a 248 HP / 28 SpA / 232 SpD EV spread. You don't need Defense EVs for Rotom-W if you have Will-O-Wisp, which cuts the foe's Defense in half anyways. This EV spread makes you Rotom-W more balanced; it has enough SpA to be effective, and enough bulk with HP and Special Defense. HP is generally more important for a Defensive Pokemon, hence why there is more HP EV's for it.

-Now, for Cloyster. You honestly don't need any Special Defense EVs for it; it's SpD is pretty bad as it is, no investment will help. Have a 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe EV Spread. It allows Cloyster to outspeed Scarf Latios, and Venusaur in sun, two big threats, after Shell Smash. Also, consider Razor Shell over Hydro Pump. Despite the fact that Hydro Pump is stronger, 15% accuracy boost does a lot, and the 50% chance for a defense drop is good as well. It would be very useful in certain situations; don't just rely on power when deciding on two moves.

-Finally, I'd suggest Toxic / Roar > Gyro Ball on Donphan. Gyro Ball doesn't have much coverage for Donphan, besides Levitate Users/Flying, which can be easily poisoned and handled much easier with Toxic. Roar could also be useful for phasing out these threats, keeping the momentum on your side. Gyro Ball is good for certain situations, but in the long run, one of those two moves can fulfill Donphan's job much efficiently. Test them out, and see how it goes. (That would mean also ridding of the 0 IV's on Donphan, if you make the switch.)

That's all I have for your team; it works very well. Good luck with it in the future, and good job with it! =)

**Donphan's move change is optional, but should be looked into/tested.**

Love the creativity and effectiveness with the iron ball on rotom. One thing I would change would be gyro ball on donpahn to toxic or roar like said above, as well as change the colors, it was so hard to read most of them, especially the light blue

This isn't a huge rate or anything, but if you're running Trick/Iron Ball on Rotom-W to slow down faster threats, why not just use Thunder Wave over it? You can actually use it more than once, and it frees up your item slot so you can run something like leftovers.

I'm on my phone ATM so I'll edit in with the stuff later, but I'll answer this. Thunder Wave doesn't hit Mons like Thundurus-T and Dugtrio that need to be slowed down.

A conkelldurr running

Bulk up
Ice Punch
Mach Punch
Drain Punch

this set can really destroy this team especially whilst trick room is up. "DJ" Kyreum would be gone after a drain punch on the switch in with no def ev invest. Breloom may be able to get a spore off, but ice punch can easily OHKO it after a +1 in ATK. Cloyster would be gone after two mach punches, and heatran may be able to take one drain punch, but a mach punch would take it out next turn. Ice punch would 2HKO Donphan, and rotom-w no matter with trick room, would get.. urm.. outslowed.

But dont take it litterall! Its a okay team, just needs more defense against those two types and itll be fine. I recommend a bulky water type, and its fixed

Whoa, bright blue text hurts the eyes. Please change that.

Anyways, onto the substance of my rate. Landorus (Incarnate, that is) looks incredibly difficult for your team to deal with, since your one good check, Rotom-W, is holding an Iron Ball, which (ironically) makes it a liability against Landorus. My first suggestion would be to get rid of the Iron Ball and use Lagging Tail instead. You mentioned that Rotom-W's job is just to slow down the opponent's fast Fighters, and Lagging Tail forces them to move last in their priority bracket, regardless of the amount of speed boosts they may pack under their belt (does Terrakion even have a belt?). If Rotom-W happens to collect a Choice Band / Specs / Scarf in the process, not all is lost, since you can just Trick that over to another Pokemon, effectively crippling a third of the opponent's team. Also, for Rotom-W, I'd like to see you use an EV spread of 248 HP / 100 Def / 160 SpD over your current EV spread. This allows Rotom-W to tank hits from stuff like Mamoswine and Scizor without getting tuckered out too easily, leaving it vulnerable to the likes of Keldeo and Thundurus-T.

Now, I'm looking at your team, and I noticed that you lack a Fighting-type resist. In today's metagame, that's a suicide call against a team that has a Choice Band Terrakion and / or Choice Specs Keldeo. Since Rotom-W gives plenty of trouble to the latter, a method of beating down the former is needed. Because of this, I'd recommend using an offensive pivot Landorus-T over your Cloyster, which doesn't appear to do much other than exacerbate a Fighting-type weakness that Keldeo and Terrakion can easily exploit. Landorus-T also gives your team something which can secure momentum for your team as well as a reliable offensive answer to Terrakion. In addition, Landorus-T can set up SR reliably, thanks to its immense power and respectable bulk, freeing up that last slot on your team which is currently occupied by Donphan.

Anyways, now that you have Landorus-T as an offensive SR setter, I don't think that Donphan is as necessary a Pokemon as it was before. You still need a spinner, if only for Kyurem-B, but again, you don't need something like Donphan. Instead, I'd suggest moving towards a more offensive route for your spinning needs. Using a defensive Starmie over your Donphan gives you a more offensive spinner, while also landing you a mon that can comfortably take on Gengar and Keldeo. Anyways, sets and a summarized list of changes can be viewed below:

Sets:
645-therian.gif
Landorus-T @ Leftovers | Intimidate
Adamant | 200 HP / 64 Atk / 244 Def
Stealth Rock | Earthquake | U-turn | Stone Edge

121.gif
Starmie @ Leftovers | Natural Cure
Timid | 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 Spe | 0 Atk
Scald | Psyshock | Rapid Spin | Recover

Nitpicks:
  • 479-wash.png
    • Iron Ball ====> Lagging Tail
    • 236 HP / 96 Def / 20 SpA / 156 SpD ====> 248 HP / 100 Def / 160 SpD
  • 232.png
    ====>

  • 91.png

Anyways, I hope this helps. Good luck with your team.

Hey,

This team has some major issues with Fighting types. You have 3 weak to Fighting and not a single resist, so things like SD Luc or Scarf Keldeo will just plow down this team. Grass types can also be annoying as they not only hit half your team SE but also resist the attacks of most of your sweepers, making it very tough for you to take them down. Bulky Psychic types such as reuniclus may also be hard to tackle safely. You also lack fast, powerful attackers that can revenge / clean without losing any momentum. I don't really see the use of Cloyster on your team; its coverage is pretty redundant with Rotom / Kyu-B and is not able to set up on / KO anything that your team has trouble with. Using perhaps SubDisable Gengar instead of Cloyster could alleviate a lot of those problems.

094.gif

Gengar @ Black Sludge
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid
Shadow Ball / Substitute / Disable / Focus Blast

Gengar would be a great addition to the team because it can setup on most choice locked fighting types as well as KO most non-choice Fighters. It has a great typing, which grants it an immunity to fighting and ground as well as a great resistance to Grass- and with this, it can disable the only move that most opponents can hit it with. Gengar's speed and power also lets it clean up weakened teams, revenge kill opponents, or just tear holes in the defenses of stall / offensive teams. Shadow Ball hits annoying Psychic types quite hard, for at least a 2HKO on most, and Focus Blast hits everything else for a decent amount of damage too. With the ability to defeat fighting types, hit fast and hard, as well as check choiced attackers, Gengar would be a great addition.

Now, for some set changes. Your Donphan spread looks weird, and having some more physical bulk (to help with Terrak / Dragons) would definitely help. I'd use a spread of 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def Impish, with Ice Shard instead of Gyro Ball. The extra defenses will let you sponge Close Combats all day even should Gengar go down. Ice Shard would also help you take that last bit of health off of Dragons or Landorus / Gliscor.

To help you handle Keldeo / Rain, I'd run a more specially defensive Rotom-W spread as well. A spread of 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpDef Calm would help you with this- giving you the bulk to tank resisted and unresisted attacks all day. I don't see why just using Thunder Wave and Leftovers instead of Trick and Iron Ball wouldn't be more beneficial- as TWave slows down opponents without forcing you to temporarily run a harmful item. It also lets you cripple more opponents- instead of just one. The lefties would help increase Rotom's longevity.

That's all I have to say. I hope this helped :)

Sorry abut the colors guys, this RMT was originally meant for the dark green background of Serebii.

@Governess- Yeah, I have no idea how that Rotom-W set came to be. I'll look into it. Cloyster does have SpA EVs, lol. And yes, Ill consider Razor Shell. And yeah, Gyro Ball on Donphan wasn't looking too great. Thanks for the rate!

@Trinitrotoluene- Rotom-W item and spread noted, but the item will be changed. Fighting types do tend to be a pain, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Cloyster will probably be replaced, but his set will stay in the OP for the sake of this not looking messy. Starmie noted, but I'm not too sure yet. Thanks for the rate!

@Electrolyte- Man, now I have 3 different Rotom-W spreads to try out :/ It will be tried out, though. Gengar seems like an outstanding idea, thanks for that. I used Iron Ball over T-Wave because T-Wave doesn't hit threats like Thundurus-T or Dugtrio that could potentially be a threat to Kyurem. Thanks for the rate!
