Banned deucer.
The old "Get your name changed" thread has been retired because it is now possible to change your name at your leisure, a limited number of times (currently three times ever). The option is located on the left navigation bar of the User CP and is called "Change Your Name":

Read all of the details on the page before you change your name.

awesome feature also glad its only a limited number of times otherwise people might change there names like crazy.

It will be hard to keep track of some users with this new feature, but good job nonetheless.

Users should keep previous identities in their signatures if they want to remain 'known' by others to help cut down confusion, really.

Nice feature. Thanks Colin.

I went ahead and purged a bunch of old, useless accounts that weren't in use, so a lot of names that were taken should be available now. Have fun!

I thought dabossman was the illest name back in grade 7 and I always use it to pay homage in a way (lol kinda like Tarantino paying homage to himself). But maybe its time I just kill it; it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Tough decision ahead of me...

It's actually because of this member ("PokeN3rd"). We may conduct a further purge of old accounts at some point, but we will not be removing specific members upon request, so please do not ask.

Yes! I finally have the taint of those numbers removed from my name.

Eveyone always called me 'mtr' anyways, never 'mtr12'.

But I suppose the downside of this is being confused with MTI...

'That username is already in use or does not meet the administrator's standards. If you are Phoenix and you have forgotten your password, click here.'

I get this when I attempt to chance my name to just 'Phoenix'. I've searched, and there isn't currently a user who goes by this name. Could I have an explanation of why it isn't allowed?

Wow, great new feature. However, I doubt I'll ever use it, but it's great for other users who feel their names are childish and whatnot, not that mine isn't childish, but w/e. >.>

Well, that's better. The 5 in my name was bugging me, along with the fact the "k" in kid was small. Anyway, thanks a lot!

While I apologize for asking, the reason was the account I saw "pokenerd" hadn't been used since 2005 and that was almost 5 years ago. I probably would have refrained, as I'm certain many others would have, if it had been someone who hadn't been active for a few months. Military, etc. could take up that kind of time. Again, I apologize.
