What games for the ds should I get before d/p comes out (in 3 weeks)? I have spring break right now and I am heading up to Monterrey for a few days, but afterwards I will be really bored because all of my friends are on vacation!~ ;(

I was thinking of Phoenix Wright 2? It looks so fun!~

It was moved, that's why.

Anyways, the only actual DS game I got for my recently acquired DS is Final Fantasy III.

Also, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and Elite Beat Agents are good choices according to others here.

hmmmm mk ds is fun. If you like RPGs you could try out Mario and Luigi Partners in Time. Those are the only 2 fun games I have for the DS, so those are the only ones I'll suggest.

EDIT: You're from Fresno that's awesome.

animal crossing is the best ds game imo

get it if you dont already have it

I bought a DS at launch at got Mario. Afterwards my DS was just collecting dust. A couple years ago I knew a Pokemon was coming for DS so I never sold it. Pokemon is that awesome. The games that actually made me go out and buy them were:

The New Mario Bros. - Fun while it lasts. No replay value.

Mario Kart DS - A solid racer.

Wario Ware Touched - Awesome awesome game. I'd suggest it.

Elite Beat Agents - Another awesome game.

Pheonix Wright - I never played it, but from what I've heard and seen, I'd pick it up if I had the extra cash.

Diddy Kong Racing - Better than Mario Kart IMO.

I'm sure Animal Crossing is good, but that's not my type of genre. Also one of the Final Fantasys never disappoint. If you enjoyed one of the originals or never got the pleasure of playing, pick up a port.

Hmmm so many good choices!

And Fresno is awesome its the coolest city ever!~

And why was I warned and almost-banned for making the flinch thread!? I really didn't know how it worked meanies... >:[

I'm guessing it could all be researched easily on Serebii... but good luck on your choices, hope there's fun in all the stuff you get! :]

...non-snaker, amirite?

That actually isn't meant to be an insult, so sorry if you took it as such. Unless you're an anti-snaker, of course, then feel free to be insulted. I have nothing against non-snakers as long as they don't have anything against snaking.

Anyway, its pretty easy to tell the snakers from the non-snakers (which generally translates to the competitive vs the casual gamers) when someone who owns both, says mkds is the worse of the two. DKR doesn't really have much of a skill element to it. There's no real definitive technique that separates good players from bad ones (such as snaking in mkds). Items are the same no matter what place you're in, so someone can't even sandbag (which no matter how annoying it is to play against, does require some skill, otherwise you could put yourself at a disadvantage). A competitive player such as myself would enjoy a game like mkds more. A more casual gamer who just wants to be on a fair playing field with their opponents for a more "party-game" type experience would probably prefer DKR. I mean, of course you could always just play in 1player, but the only good reason to get mkds is for the wifi, imo.

I don't get why you have to be faster to flinch!

If a slow football player was running at you and hit you, even if he's slower than you, he would flinch you!

lol paging sonuis to this thread

i really like big brain academy and mario kart is always fun.. i never owned a n64 either so mario 64 ds was a fun investment.. the mini games are awesome on it.

neither did i

umm i suggest you get the puppy games, nintendogs is it? i think they'd be right up your alley

MKDS. haven't played one of the DS castlevania games, but if they're like the previous ones you should get them. also phoenix wright lol.

LG be quiet, mkds is for fun and you need to stop jumping to conclusions (lol hay guys I prefer another racing game to mkds so I simply MUST not be competitive at mkds!), and to be blunt, no one really gives a damn about what you said (no offence meant).

It's not the fact its just another racing game. It's the fact that its another racing game with no skill element. Or rather, very minimal. I guess you have to know how to change directions.

All DKR is who can get the best items. Which, as previously stated, are the same no matter what place you're in. Since its a relatively slow paced game, traveling a good route isn't really the issue, and the winner ends up being due to luck more than anything.

Granted, you could play mkds without snaking... pretty easily. Against friends and CPUs its perfectly possible. I know I did it for a while. I know I had a fun time. However, going on wifi wouldn't be easy. Back when I couldn't snake wifi was murder. It wasn't fun being crushed all the time by half a lap. That's why I learned to snake. To keep up with the crowd. Now I can't play without it. Just holding 'A' down all the time and driving in a straight line is too slow.

So if you don't snake in the game, most likely the only wifi you'll be doing is against friends or people online you've found that don't snake. It gets boring after a while constantly losing. The single player doesn't last long, unless you TT, and a lot of people get bored of that if they don't have someone to compete against. Of course every TT site accepts snaking as the standard. It would be very difficult to enforce a non-snaking rule, anyway. In a course like Peach Circuit, where there are so many twists and turns, if someone throws in a single SSMT on one of the straights, are they suddenly snaking?

Heh, all this talk about mkds makes me want to play it again.

DKR can be played without items, just like MKDS can be played w/o snaking :\

If I recall correctly, MK lags and DKR doesn't during online matches. DKR has many more modes to play as well.

You're right. DKRDS does indeed have more modes. Race, trophy race,Token Tussle, and Battle. However, the only thing I see people play is the regular races. Occasionally, I'll get a trophy race. I've yet to play Token Tussle and Battle mode. I like DKR, but I have to give my favorite racing game to MKDS. The problem in DKR is that it's very difficult to get back in first place. There aren't any advanced strategies like snaking, that could really help you get in the league. Compared to DKR, as Shiny Metagross said, all it is driving and turning. The person in first place has the same chance,or same opportunity to get a strong item just as the person in the back. Such as a purple boost(Which is the best boost you can get). Items are basically pre-determined according to their color, where as MKDS, they're randomized. MKDS at least gives you a chance to step it up. Wether it be Snaking, getting a star, lighting bolt, or bullet bill. Where as DKR, which again, Shiny Metagross pointed out, is "Who can get the best items". DKR does let you play all courses online(24 of them, compared to only getting 20 out of 32 tracks on MKDS), but I find them rather boring and somewhat repetitive. One main difference I've noticed is that DKRDS is just a remake of the original DKR. Same tracks(with 4 new ones), but just somewhat edited the tracks. Though, I have to say, the edits are nice. MKDS at least has new tracks, and brings you back some tracks from the past(SNES, N64, GBA, and GCN tracks respectively each cup). DKR has 3 vehicles to race in compared to the one kart in MKDS. but once again, none of them have advanced strategies. In fact, the most 'advanced' strategy you'll ever implement is the 'stop before you hit a zipper/boost'. The plane is a shame. All you do is turn/sharp turn in it. Car is the pretty much same thing. However, the hovercraft actually takes some practice to fully use it. But still, no real advanced strategies to help you out.

Overall, get MKDS.

And for you people who consider snaking "cheap" or "unfair", then do this: do two consecutive powersliding(without snaking). Yes, it's tougher, but when I did this, I got the same speed results as I would with snaking. Tell me, is this cheating or not?
