After some brain-jarring, your Pokemon remembered attending and competing in the New Island tournament so long ago. The island castle sitting in the eye of the greatest storm of all time housed its own brand of tempest on that fateful night.
300px-New_Island.png

In the open-air courtyard stadium took place an epic clash between Pokemon created and enhanced by science and their natural parents. The first Pokemon created by science took on its parent, the ancestor of all Pokemon, above the battlefield, where your Pokemon chanced upon each other. They remember meeting. mistaking each other for clones, and throwing down amidst the maelstrom of attacks flying around the room.

Who was the victor? We're about to find out.

A 50 x 100 rectangular field with dirt diggable to 20 feet deep. Each Pokemon starts 25 feet apart, 25 feet from each side. While there are no walls, the exchange of attacks discourage your Pokemon from straying from the field. The air is open, but as Mewtwo and Mew are fighting overhead, it's impossible to fly higher than 50 feet without risking life and limb.
SUNNY DAY: It is night, so Sunny Day only heats up the arena; no effects can take place except on move damage.
Sunny Day DOES NOT remove Rain Dance but instead stacks with it.

RAIN DANCE: No rain is entering the stadium from the storm outside, so move damage isn't influenced, but all other effects of Rain Dance apply from the get-go and cannot be removed.
If activated, Rain Dance runs for 1 more round than usual.

OTHER WEATHER: Hail and Sandstorm DO NOT remove Rain Dance but instead stack on top of it.

RECOVERY:
Morning Sun and Synthesis always heal 5 less HP (5, 15, or 25 power), while Moonlight always heals 5 more (15, 25, or 35 power). Other such moves work as normal.
The Pokemon battling around the arena occasionally let an attack across the lines. After every round, one of the following attacks is used against each combatant.

Fury Cutter -- Scyther (4 (no damage cap))
Dragon Rage -- Gyarados
Thunder -- Pikachu (6)
Hi Jump Kick -- Hitmonlee (4)
Fire Blast -- Charizard (4)
Hurricane -- Pidgeot (3)
Shadow Ball -- Mewtwo (6 (no STAB))
Solarbeam -- Venusaur (4)
Earthquake -- Rhydon (5)
Blizzard -- Lapras (3)
Hyper Beam -- Porygon (3)
Toxic -- Weezing
Psychic -- Mew (4)
Rock Slide -- Kabutops (4)
Hydro Pump -- Blastoise (3)

The formula for calculating the attack accuracies is:

(100 - (25 - (feet from closest barrier) + 75)) / 100

A Pokemon in the starting position has a 25% chance of taking an attack, while a Pokemon against a barrier is going to get hit.

Shuckles: Which Pokemon's memory shall we delve into first?

Doran chooses next and states that Pokemon's attacks, then Shuckles responds, then I relay the events that happened 12 years ago.

This will be epic.

Sorry about the delay but this weekend was kinda hectic, what with hospital trips, essays and exams. Smogon kinda comes second to all of that. Any way I would like to send out larvitar if I am not disqualified. Sorry!!!

Lets Go, Orita-chan! Lets start off with a strong Substitute(25%) then decrease the physical damage that Larvitar will deal with a reflect, and then paradigm shift to Ravenger and use Magical Leaf!

NOTE: You didn't list any abilities for your Pokemon, but since neither had more than one, it doesn't matter much.

Also I had to Google "Does Substitute block Taunt?". Auto-Whatever suggested it once I typed the B.

New Island is a castle of chaos. Clones duel their naturally-born parents; Charizard trade jets of fire, Venusaur wrestle with their vines, Blastoise punch through the walls with forceful jets of water. The battlefield in the middle appears to be the only safe scrap of land, and even then, the leaders of each faction -- Mew, the ancestor of all Pokemon, and its clone, bent on "freeing" all Pokemon from the control of humans, tangle overhead.

A Larvitar in a pink hoodie ducks under two airborne Hitmonlee and scampers into the ring. Does he think he is Rocky or something? When he dusts himself off, he sees a grossly misshapen Chikorita about 50 feet in front of it. This Chikorita, named Orita-chan, had set up a Substitute around herself to ease the pain of incoming Fire Blasts and whatnot, but Rocky doesn't make the connection and instead, assuming it's a clone, decides to poke fun at the hastily sewn doll.

"Man, I thought these test-tube bastards were supposed to be sleek and sporty, but you? Heh, you look like you were hit by the Magnet Train, fell into the sea, and got mulched by the propellers on the S.S. Anne! And what's with the stitches? Did a one-legged Tauros sew you back together?"

Orita-chan takes offense at the Taunt. She knows that she's actually quite beautiful, not like the stone whatever-it-is in front of her. Her glowing blue Reflect fizzles out; she is too affronted to fully erect it.

Rocky notes the previous sentence for use in future Taunts and decides that, if the doll can do naught but subject itself to innuendos and look ugly, it ought to be put out of its misery. He charges across the field, not noticing the Thundershocks crackling behind him with every step, and pounces on Orita-chan's Substitute, sinking his little baby teeth into the leaf on its head.

While he does consider his Bites to be powerful for a Larvitar, Rocky knows that his jaws are meant for dirt, not stuffed toys. That said, when he sees the dingy leaf pop out, fly five feet into the air, and get promptly incinerated by a rogue Flamethrower, Rocky backs a few paces away from Orita-chan. Another leaf pops out of the hole where the old one's stem ended. This leaf, though, looks verdant, vibrant, and filled with vitality.

Little does Rocky know that Orita-chan decided to make the most of the loss of her Substitute's leaf and stuck her own out of the opening. Rocky stares curiously at the fresh leaf as it revolves once around the doll's head. When it shoots out a pair of leaves, Rocky only has time to sidestep one. The Magical Leaf meets its mark, and Rocky falls flat on his back and slides until he's 11 feet away from Orita-chan. The Chikorita smirks from inside her doll as if to say, "Take that, you scaly, green fool."

Being tossed by a salad brings back memories of Rocky's days in Soviet Russia; in particular, he remembers an exotic, mystical dance that he learned from an Altaria with wings of tawny fur instead of white fluff. He performs the Dragon Dance as far as he can remember it; if her Sub wasn't hiding her face, Orita-chan's rather confused expression would amuse him. When he finishes, he feels energized and powerful.

All of a sudden, a howling Blizzard sweeps across the stadium, blowing from whatever compass direction points to the dueling Lapras. Rocky, also remembering the Soviet winters, scoffs at the "light breeze". Orita-chan, however, is NOT so lucky. The snowstorm turns her Substitute into a hollow ice sculpture. Orita-chan, unable to brace herself against the wind, falls over, and her Substitute shatters like a glass dinosaur in a gale.

May I just say thats my favorite reffing post ever!

First Bite it, then use screech after this another bite should do the trick.

Also Im guessing theres unlimited chills/healing moves.

Lol

I actually used Magical Leaf rather than Razor Leaf, and seeing as Magical Leaf is special damage and Razor Leaf is physical, I'm pretty sure that the damage would be significantly different. Please, if I may ask, can you change that?

I could have sworn I saw Razor Leaf, but whatever.

The reason your damage output was low was because I read your Sp. Atk stat as 2 instead of 3. If your Pokemon has a Nature boost, please change the stats to reflect it. Saves the confusion.

EDIT: Edited the ref post. Do continue. :)

thank you :)

Orita, since we cant heal for now, lets go full offensive, Magical leaf, Master Cheif, WE GOT BEEF!

Orita-chan: Magical Leaf x 3

As the war around them rages on, the two combatants in the arena finally get their first good look at each other. Orita-chan, vision no longer impeded by her Substitute armor, sees a bipedal lizard in a pink hoodie. For that lizard, though, reality is a bit more shocking.

Rocky realizes that the creature standing in front of him and waving her leaf furiously is not a clone at all. In fact, it looks enough like a regular Chikorita that it probably is a regular Chikorita.

It's a little bit awkward, actually.

"Hey, uh, miss...sorry about that...I thought you were a clone...your, uh, appearance was kinda...how do I say...OW!!!"

Real smooth, Rocks. Never insult a girl's looks, especially when said girl can fire super-effective Magical Leaves at you.

Rocky brings himself to his feet, looking rather shaky as he does. I take it back, he thinks. That Magical Leaf was FAR too powerful for an ordinary Pokemon. It's GOTTA be a clone.

What our little fighter DOESN'T know is that Orita-chan is a Modest-natured Chikorita and that her SpA is boosted as a result. However, it is understandable that he doesn't, for this is, what, 2000 at the latest? Natures aren't to be discovered for 3 more years.

Enough with the boring drivel. We all know why we're here.

Lulled by the above aside, Rocky conks out. When he rises, he charges downfield, leaps off a Scyther's blade, and Bites Orita-chan in the head, with the grace and the power of a Siberian Striped Salamence. Before he can go for the jugular, though, the angry Chikorita whacks him in the face with her leaf, removing him from her head. Rocky flies through the air and lands on his head spike, unable to extract himself from the ground.

Orita sees that Rocky's back is to her, so she fires off a homing leaf, glittering with pragmatism and slight underhandedness. The Pragmagical Leaf orbits Rocky closely, but it doesn't seem to have left an impact. Rocky feels no pain whatsoever.

The anchored lizard turns to face Orita. This is an impressive feat, because his arms don't come close to reaching over his head. Rocky has to forcefully twist himself to face Orita-chan. This motion widens the hole enough that Rocky falls flat on his back. Now able to move efficiently, Rocky turns to face Orita with a smug grin. His gesture is met not with fear but with giggling.

Rocky looks down and swiftly realizes what's so funny. The Magical Leaf had cut a pattern in the pink hoodie. It reads:

ROCKY IS
A WIENER

It's super-effective against Rocky's ego! That's just as draining as if Rocky had actually been hit! Don't ask me about the biology; it just IS.

As Orita struggles to stay upright, shaking with laughter, Rocky seethes with anger. His face would be red, but the red blends with the dull green to make an unfortunate shade of brown. This almost causes Orita-chan to suffocate; her laughter is silent, for her lungs are devoid of air.

Silent mirth changes quickly to a pained gasp when Rocky finally snaps. He's young, so he can't roar deeply yet. He can -- and does -- go to the other extreme though. Rocky lets out a horrible, ear-splittingly high Screech. It's as if someone ran their nails down a blackboard next to the world's most sensitive microphone, which was placed up against the world's loudest speaker.

Nothing could have prepared Orita-chan for that, and it certainly didn't help her prepare for another swift and powerful Bite, this time to the jugular. The sheer power of the attack causes her to flinch and forget to attack.

Rocky somersaults off her back, landing upright about 3 feet behind her. An angry, avian scream pierces the air. As Orita-chan grounds herself with her neck vines, Rocky looks up. Two clashing Pidgeot seem to be summoning their own storm. While it's a breeze compared to what's outside, the little Hurricane rips through the ranks of the warring factions of Pokemon, scattering them about.

Rocky's eyes widen, and his body locks from fearful anticipation. The typhoon picks him up and kicks him around as if it were a pair of hippies and Rocky a woven hackeysack. Our green scaly friend once again finds himself lodged in the ground, this time 10 feet in front of Orita-chan, who withdraws her vines from the ground. Significantly weakened by the Hurricane AND the fading of his Communist powers, Rocky simply sighs and waits for an attack.

Screech starts wearing off after the next round, right?

Lets finish him Orita-chan. Use Magical Leaf! Then if we can still make moves after Rocky is defeated, lets use Reflect and set up a Substitute at 25% health!

Orita-chan: Magical Leaf till Rocky faints>>>if I can use moves after rocky faints, Reflect>>>Substitute 25%

Orita-chan rears up and swings her head around, launching a shimmering Magical Leaf. To her dismay and his relief, it lands just under Rocky's head. Before the stone lizard can free himself from his awkward position, though, the leaf explodes with power. Someone must have said a prayer to an ancient sun god or something.

Orita-chan turns her head and shuts her eyes against the flying debris. When the dust settles, all that remains on the field is Rocky's naked, almost-unconscious body and a prizefighter Chikorita, who is grinning smugly at a job well done.

A light blue, glimmering, reflective surface starts to phase into being in front of Orita-chan, but an explosion between the dueling felines overhead distracts her. When she gets home, she'll have to practice erecting Reflects. Maybe Metapod, too. XD

Whoever Shuckles has out at the time of the switch would get the KO Counter.

We'll wait for word from Shuckles.

Bamp. I say we wait till shuckles is free to post. as was with the first few posts he may be having medical difficulties preventing him from posting.

Yeah thanks for waiting but it wasn't my medicial problems it was the fact that I could not find the thread.
Anyway yes you can switch as I believe it is switch=ko

I would like to send out Chomp please.

Sub sand attack with slash if his sub is still up

I will witch to hoot-chan, whom I will promptly evolve at the start of the round. I will edit with Hoot-chan the noctowl later...I just need to edit it up and get it accepted.

I evolved my Mudkip mid-battle once. All I saw happen was that the ref approved it and I got a Marshtomp after the battle. If that's all you need, just post it here.

i thought it would be allowed to evolve when it entered battle. if you evolve it after it entered the battle it loses 20% energy...perhaps I'm wrong, thats just how I interpreted it.

so I send out Hoot-chan, who promptly evolves into Noctowl
