[Overview]

A newcomer to Generation V, Roggenrola is another slow yet powerful Rock-type tank. However, Roggenrola has a few unique qualities that set it apart from other Rock-types in the metagame. Sturdy, high Attack, and a lack of a quadruple weakness all help its cause. In addition, it gets great neutral coverage with its attacks, which can be assisted by either Autotomize or Trick Room support. With a sandstorm raging, its weak Special Defense will receive a boost as well, giving it impressive mixed defenses to complement its high Attack stat. With access to Stealth Rock, Sturdy, and Explosion, it makes a good lead as well.

Name: Autotomize Sweeper
Move 1: Autotomize
Move 2: Stone Edge / Rock Blast
Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Explosion
Item: Oran Berry / Life Orb
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Jolly
Evs: 236 Atk / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With maximum investment and a boosting nature, Roggenrola manages to reach 17 Attack, which allows it to hit many threats for big damage with Stone Edge. Stone Edge is Roggenrola's most powerful STAB attack, while Rock Blast can hit through the opponent's Substitute. Earthquake hits a lot of Pokemon which resist Stone Edge for at least neutral damage, with the notable exception of Pokemon like Bronzor. Explosion is a last-ditch measure to be used when Roggenrola is at low health.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The role of the Oran Berry is to allow Roggenrola to stay in the game for longer. On the other hand, Life Orb can give Roggenrola more firepower so it can hit harder. Hippopotas automatically sets up sandstorm, giving Roggenrola an additional boost to its Special Defense. In addition, sandstorm will be able to break Focus Sashes. Good teammates to this set include Mantyke and Slowpoke because they resist Fighting-, Water-, and Steel-type attacks, and Roggenrola can take Electric-type attacks with a sandstorm boost. Grass-types like Cottonee also make good partners because they can take Water-, Ground-, and Grass-type attacks, while Roggenrola resists Fire-, Poison-, and Flying-type attacks. Wynaut takes Fighting-type attacks and checkmates Choice Scarf users that can outspeed Roggenrola after a Autotomize boost.

Name: Trick Room Sweeper

Move 2: Earthquake
Move 3: Explosion
Move 4: Return
Item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Brave
Evs: 236 HP / 236 Atk
Ivs: 0 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Roggenrola can reach a minimum speed of 4, allowing it to outrun almost everything under Trick Room. Stone Edge is a good move to have since it has not only a high Base Power but also a high critical hit ratio. Earthquake is a very useful move since it is able to hit a lot of Pokemon for neutral damage. Explosion is a good way to finish off a Trick Room sweep, potentially allowing Roggenrola to take something down with it. This should only be used if Roggenrola has low HP. Return hits several Pokemon and provides a slightly stronger alternative to Earthquake.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Life Orb is important because Roggenrola prefers having all the power it can get, even though it compromises Sturdy. Slowpoke is a good Pokemon to have on your team since it resists Water-, Fighting-, and Steel-type attacks, along with being able to set up Trick Room. Thanks to fantastic natural bulk, Eviolite, Regenerator, and Slack Off, it can set up Trick Room multiple times. Ghost-types are immune to Fighting-type moves, can set up Trick Room, and can burn physical attackers, so they are good teammates for Roggenrola.

[SET]

Name: Substitute
Move 1: Substitute
Move 2: Stone Edge / Rock Blast
Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Explosion
Item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Naughty / Adamant
Evs: 236 HP / 236 Atk

[SET COMMENTS]

Roggenrola can also function as a bulky tank. Substitute is a great move to have, as it lets Roggenrola hit faster Choice Scarf users and priority users such as Tirtouga without getting wiped out. Stone Edge and Earthquake provide excellent neutral coverage, while also allowing Roggenrola to hit a wide range of Pokemon for super effective damage. Explosion is Explosion, KOing Roggenrola while allowing it to severely hurt the opponent, but behind a Substitute, Stone Edge or Earthquake will usually be a better choice. Life Orb is the preferred item as Substitute breaks Sturdy anyway, but Oran Berry allows Roggenrola to last longer, which could be crucial.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

As a defensive Pokemon, Roggenrola appreciates sandstorm support even more, boosting its abysmal Special Defense to more acceptable levels. Slowpoke and Mantyke are also good teammates, having great defensive synergy with Roggenrola. Cottonee resists Water- and Grass-type attacks, and can help Roggenrola set up by providing Encore and Leech Seed support.

Name: Lead
Move 1: Rock Blast / Stone Edge
Move 2: Stealth Rock
Move 3: Protect / Earthquake
Move 4: Explosion
Item: Oran Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Adamant / Naughty
Evs: 236 HP / 236 Atk

[SET COMMENTS]

Roggenrola can make an excellent lead, as Sturdy grants it an automatic Focus Sash, which allows it to run Oran Berry for healing. This set focuses on laying down Stealth Rock and eliminating the opposing lead, granting you the early advantage. Stealth Rock allows Roggenrola to support its team, as it makes it harder for the opponent to switch and also breaks Focus Sashes and Sturdy. STAB Stone Edge coming from Roggenrola's high base 75 Attack hits a lot of Pokemon very hard, but Rock Blast can also be used to hit through Substitute and Focus Sashes.

There are three options for the third moveslot. Earthquake gets excellent coverage along with Roggenrola's STAB Rock-type attacks, forming the infamous EdgeQuake combination; while Protect blocks Fake Out, preventing it from ruining Sturdy. Explosion is an excellent option in the fourth moveslot, allowing Roggenrola to go out with a bang when it is at low health.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

By virtue of its Rock typing, Roggenrola has problems dealing with Fighting-, Ground-, and Grass-type leads, and needs team support to help it deal with the mentioned Pokemon. Phanpy is taken care of by Water-types such as Mantyke and, once again, Slowpoke. In addition, Deerling and Snover can check Cottonee, a common Grass-type lead. Sweepers such as Pawniard and Mantyke also appreciate Stealth Rock support, making them great teammates for Roggenrola.

[Other Options]

Roggenrola has a few other options it can use, despite its relatively small movepool. Rock Slide can be used for its higher accuracy and chance to flinch, but the drop in power means that Roggenrola will be unable to KO bulky Pokemon. Curse can be used on the Trick Room set, but setting up wastes a turn of Trick Room. Heavy Slam can be used, but it is almost never a better option than Stone Edge or Earthquake, due to the insubstantial difference between weights of the Pokemon used in Little Cup. Rock Polish is entirely outclassed by Autotomize, which lowers the damage taken from Low Kick and Grass Knot, unless Roggenrola is running Heavy Slam. Finally, Hidden Power Fire 3 - 4HKOes Bronzor with Life Orb, but Bronzor will be able to easily KO Roggenrola first with Flash Cannon.

[Checks and Counters]

Fighting-types such as Timburr and Scraggy and Ground-types such as Sandile and Drilbur resist Stone Edge, and OHKO Roggenrola with their STAB attacks. Bronzor and Baltoy resist both Stone Edge and Earthquake, and destroy Roggenrola with their STAB moves. Water- and Grass-types take heavy damage from Stone Edge, but OHKO Roggenrola with their STAB attacks. Priority attacks also screw up Roggenrola as it has none of its own, making Croagunk a great check. Finally, entry hazards break Sturdy and leave Roggenrola wide open to all attacks that can KO it.

[Dream World]

Roggenrola's Dream World ability is Sand Force. It is able to OHKO almost anything that doesn't resist Stone Edge or Earthquake with a boost equivalent to that of Life Orb. Hippopotas becomes even more useful since it provides a defensive and offensive boost along with setting up Stealth Rock.

With maximum investment and a boosting nature, Roggenrola manages to reach 17 Attack, which allows Roggenrola to hit many threats for big damage with Stone Edge. Stone Edge is Roggenrola's most powerful STAB attack (correct me if I'm wrong), while Rock Blast can break Substitutes that the opponent's Pokemon might try to set up.The 17 Attack stat of Roggenrolla lets Stone Edge a lot of Pokemon with the STAB boost it recieves. It can OHKO most several variants of Misdreavus and can 2HKO any Misdreavus carrying Eviolite the Eviolite version. Earthquake coverage hits a lot of Pokemon in the metagame for at least neutral damage that Stone Edge doesn't except for Pokemon like Bronzor and Gligar (Stone Edge hits it for neutral). Explosion is a last-ditch measure to be used when Roggenrolla is at low health. Stone Edge is useful in terms of type coverage and for making sure that a move actually damages the incoming Pokemon. Rock Blast is mainly to break Substitute set up by the opponent's Pokemon.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The role of the Oran Berry is to allow Rogenrolla to stay in the game for a longer amount of time. On the other hand, Life Orb can on the other hand is to give Roggenrola Rogenrolla more fire-power so it can hit harder than it would with an Oran Berry otherwise. Hippopottas automatically sets can set up Sandstorm, giving Roggenrola an additional boost to its Special Defense. In addition, Sandstorm will be able to break Focus Sashes and KO Pokemon with Sturdy, given that they are not immune to the effects of Sandstorm. This will give a SpD boost to Rogenrolla which will help it. Not only that but it will also break Focus Sashes and Pokemon with Sturdy. Good teammates to this set include Mantyke and Slowpoke because they resist Fighting-, Water-, and Steel-type attacks priority, and Roggenrola can take Electric attacks with a Sandstorm boost, as such they can be good teammates to Rogenrolla.
Roggenrolla can outspeed any non-Trick Room viable Pokemon when it Trick Room is put in place since it can reach a minimum speed of 4. (mention SE / RB here) Earthquake is a very useful move since it is able to hit a lot of Pokemon for neutral damage that are neutral to it and so can be useful. Explosion is a good way to finish off a Trick Room (NO ABBREVIATIONS) TR sweep, possibly taking down another Pokemon with itself. This should only be used if Roggenrola (lol can you spell???) Roggenrolla has low amounts of HP remaining. Return hits Baltoy (Baltoy? Baltoy? Who uses Baltoy? Change this) without dying and provides a slightly stronger alternative to Earthquake, while . Hidden Power Ice has a 50% chance of KOing non-Eviolite Gligar after Stealth Rock with Life Orb.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Life Orb is important because Roggenrola prefers having all the power it can get at the cost of not having Sturdy to back it up. Life Orb is a good item since the main idea is to kill everything than to save up the HP. As such Life Orb is the first slash. Slowpoke is a good Pokemon to have on your team since it resists Water-, Fighting- and Steel-types, along with being able to that it can set up Trick Room. Because of its bulk being boosted by Eviolite and having Regeneration and a reliable recovery move in Slack Off, it can set up Trick Room multiple times. and it lasts a long time with Regeneration, Slack Off and Eviolite, thus it makes a good teammate for Roggenrolla. OK, this is on top of comatthew6's check, which is really good but missed out on correcting several Japanese names and also several instances of Roggenrola misspelled. As he already stated, there's only one L in Roggenrola, so please change the name of the topic when you edit the analysis.

I'm keeping the same color scheme as comatthew6 used:

Heavy Bomber Slam and Rock Polish can be used, but Heavy Bomber Slam is almost never a better option than Stone Edge or Earthquake, due to the insubstantial difference between weights of the Pokemon used in Little Cup, while Rock Polish is entirely outclassed by Body Purge Autotomize, which lowers the damage taken from Low Kick and Grass Knot, unless Roggenrola is running Heavy Bomber Slam. Finally, Hidden Power Fire 3 - 4HKOes Bronzor with Life Orb, but Bronzor will be able to easily KO Roggenrola first with Flash Cannon. but really, that sucks.

[Checks and Counters]

Fighting-types such as Timburr and Scraggy and Ground-types such as Sandile and Drilbur Drillbur resist Stone Edge, and OHKO Roggenrola with their STAB attacks. Eviolite Gligar laughs at all of its attacks barring Hidden Power Ice, and KOes it with Earthquake. Bronzor and Baltoy resist both Stone Edge and Earthquake, and destroy Roggenrola with their STAB moves. Water- and Grass-types take heavy damage from Stone Edge, but OHKO Roggenrola it with their STAB attacks. Priority attacks also screw up Roggenrola as it has none of its own, making Croagunk, Meditite, and Carvanha great checks. Finally, entry hazards break Sturdy and leave Roggenrola wide open to all attacks that can KO it.

[Dream World]

Roggenrolla Roggenrola's Dream World ability is Sand Power Force. It is able to OHKO almost anything that doesn't resist Stone Edge or Earthquake with a free boost that's almost equivalent to a Choice Band boost. Hippopotas becomes even more useful since it provides a defensive and offensive boost along with setting up Stealth Rock.

Whew! I think I got everything.

[Overview]

A newcomer to Generation V, Roggenrola is another slow yet powerful Rock-type tank. However, Roggenrola has a few unique qualities that set it apart from other Rock-types in the metagame.
Possessing Sturdy, high Attack, and a lack of a quadruple weakness all help its cause. In addition, it gets great neutral coverage with its attacks, which can be assisted by either Autotomize or Trick Room support. With a sandstorm raging, its weak Special Defense will receive a boost as well, giving it impressive mixed defenses to complement its while still sporting a high Attack stat. With access to Stealth Rock, Sturdy, and Explosion, it makes a good lead as well.

Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Explosion

[SET COMMENTS]

With maximum investment and a boosting nature, Roggenrola manages to reach 17 Attack, which allows
Roggenrola it to hit many threats for big damage with Stone Edge. Stone Edge is Roggenrola's most powerful STAB attack, while Rock Blast can hit through the opponents Substitutes break Substitutes that the opponent's Pokemon might try to set up. It can OHKO most variants of Misdreavus, 2HKOing those and can 2HKO any Misdreavus carrying Eviolite. Earthquake hits a lot of Pokemon which resist Stone Edge in the metagame for at least neutral damage, with the notable exception of that Stone Edge doesn't except for Pokemon like Bronzor. Explosion is a last-ditch measure to be used when Roggenrola is at low health.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The role of the Oran Berry is to allow Roggenrola to stay in the game for
a longer amount of time. On the other hand, Life Orb can give Roggenrola more firepower so it can hit harder than it would with an Oran Berry. Hippopotas automatically sets up sandstorm, giving Roggenrola an additional boost to its Special Defense. In addition, sandstorm will be able to break Focus Sashes and KO Pokemon with Sturdy, given that they are not immune to the effects of sandstorm (lol just Pineco). Good teammates to this set include Mantyke and Slowpoke because they resist Fighting-, Water-, and Steel-type attacks, and Roggenrola can take Electric-type attacks with a sandstorm boost. Grass-types like Cottonee also make for good partners because they can take Water-, Ground-, and Grass-type attacks, while Roggenrola resists Fire-, Poison-, and Flying-type attacks. Wynaut takes Fighting-type attacks and checkmates Choice Scarf users that can outspeed Roggenrola, even after a Autotomize boost.

Move 3: Explosion
Move 4: Return / Hidden Power Ice
Item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Brave
Evs: 236 HP / 236 Atk

[SET COMMENTS]

Roggenrola
can outspeed any non-Trick Room viable Pokemon when it is put in place since it can reach a minimum speed of 4, allowing it to outrun almost everything under Trick Room. Stone Edge is a good move to have since it has not only does it have a high Base Power but it can also a high critical hit ratio Critical Hit more often than other moves. Earthquake is a very useful move since it is able to hit a lot of Pokemon for neutral damage. Explosion is a good way to finish off a Trick Room sweep, potentially allowing Roggenrola to take something down with it possibly taking down another Pokemon with itself. This should only be used if Roggenrola has low amounts of HP remaining. Return hits several Pokemon and provides a slightly stronger alternative to Earthquake, while. Hidden Power Ice has a 50% chance of KOing non-Eviolite Gligar after Stealth Rock with Life Orb.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Life Orb is important because Roggenrola prefers having all the power it can get, even though it compromises Sturdy
at the cost of not having Sturdy to back it up. Slowpoke is a good Pokemon to have on your team since it resists Water-, Fighting-, and Steel-type attacks, along with being able to set up Trick Room. Thanks to fantastic natural bulk, Eviolite, Regenerator and Slack Off Because of its bulk being boosted by Eviolite and having Regenerator and a reliable recovery move in Slack Off, it can set up Trick Room multiple times. Ghost-types like Misdreavus are immune to Fighting-type moves, can set up Trick Room, and can burn physical attackers, so they are good teammates for Roggenrola.

Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Explosion
Item: Life Orb / Oran Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Naughty / Adamant
Evs: 236 HP / 236 Atk

[SET COMMENTS]

Roggenrola can also function as a bulky tank. Substitute is a great move to have, as it lets Roggenrola hit faster Choice Scarf users such as Misdreavus and Gligar and priority users such as Meditite and Tirtouga without getting wiped out. Stone Edge and Earthquake provide excellent neutral coverage, while also allowing Roggenrola to hit a wide range of Pokemon for super effective damage. Hidden Power Ice
does is for Gligar in, who since it won't take much from Roggenrola's other attacks.

If Hidden Power Ice is being used, a Naughty nature should be used so that its power isn't reduced
weakened.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

As a defensive Pokemon, Roggenrola appreciates sandstorm support even more, boosting
as it boosts its abysmal Special Defense to more acceptable levels. Bulk Up + Eviolite Meditite makes a great teammate for Roggenrola, taking Fighting-type attacks with ease while Roggenrola sponges Flying-type attacks that trouble Meditite. Slowpoke and Mantyke are also good teammates, having great defensive synergy with Roggenrola. Cottonee resists Water- and Grass-type attacks, and can help Roggenrola set up by providing Encore and Leech Seed support.

Move 3: Protect / Earthquake / Hidden Power Ice

STAB Stone Edge coming from Roggenrola's high base 75 Attack hits a lot of Pokemon very hard, but Rock Blast can also be used to hit through Substitute and
break Focus Sashes.

There are three options for the third moveslot. Earthquake gets excellent coverage along with Roggenrola's STAB Rock-type attacks, forming the infamous EdgeQuake combination; Hidden Power Ice hits Gligar, who laughs at Roggenrola's other moves; while Protect blocks Fake Out, preventing it from ruining Sturdy. Explosion is an excellent option in the fourth moveslot, allowing
to let Roggenrola to go out with a bang when it is at low health.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

By virtue of its Rock typing, Roggenrola has problems dealing with Fighting-, Ground-, and Grass-type leads, and needs team support to help it deal with the mentioned Pokemon. Meditite and Mienfoo can be easily dealt with by Ghost-types such as Misdreavus or bulky Psychic-types such as Slowpoke. Phanpy and Gligar are taken care of by Water-types such as Mantyke and, once again, Slowpoke. In addition, Deerling and Snover can check Cottonee, a common Grass-type lead. Sweepers such as Pawniard and Mantyke also appreciate Stealth Rock support, making them great teammates for Roggenrola.

For some reason empty [COLOR] tags are messing up the spacing a few times in the analysis. For instance, in the Trick Room set comments it shows up as "Roggenrolacan". I figured I'd just fix them for you (and take out one red full stop you forgot to remove, from the aforementioned Trick Room set comments). You can just copy & paste this. It's a bit of an apology for the really messy check from before. :>
