I DESIRE NEW BATTLES!

*cough*

I mean, I'd like some new battles please. :P

Battle type: 2v2 Singles
DQ Time: 3 days
Restrictions: 2 recovery moves, 5 chills, no seismic moves, no weather, no water source
Track: Mauville Game Corner theme
Other notes: NFEs preferred but I'll eagerly take on any opponent.
Arena: Objection's Mauville Game Corner

Being an indoors arena, weather moves/abilities cannot be used. There is no external water source for moves like Surf, and seismic moves like Earthquake and Earth Power would do too much structural damage and are also banned. Dig is OK though.

All pokemon have the option of playing roulette once each round except on round 1. This does not take up an action but it does cost 10% of the pokemon's max HP and 5 energy. All betting, the spin of the wheel and any effects caused by the wheel all happen at the start of the round before any actions are executed. Here is a crude illustration of the roulette wheel:

(yeah they're meant to be equally sized spaces but I couldn't get them equally sized so this'll have to do)
Trainers may bet on a particular space (eg, orange makuhita), a particular colour (eg, green) or a particular pokemon (eg, azurill). If there are any bets, the roulette wheel will be spun and it has an equal chance of landing on each space (1/12). A pokemon can win different prizes depending on how it bet:
  • If a pokemon bets on a particular colour and wins, it regains 25% of its max HP and 10 energy
  • If a pokemon bets on a particular pokemon and wins, it regains 25% of its max HP and 15 energy and its most recently acquired status effect (including temporary status like Leech Seed and Taunt) is removed
  • If a pokemon bets on a particular space and wins, it regains 50% of its max HP and 25 energy and all status effects on it are removed
The stake of 10% max HP and 5 energy is not returned under any circumstances.
I'll take the 2v2 challenge, no items, 1 ability, no switch. I'll be using NFEs also.
Welcome one and all to Mauville Game Corner! The building has been modified slightly to house a pokemon battle, but Lady Luck is still here and maybe smiling on one of these two trainers. Who will hit the jackpot today?

Alright I'll lead off with Torpedoh, the Colosshale with Storm Drain!

Torpedoh, I want you to start off with a Rock Slide to take advantage of your foe's lowered evasion! Then I want you to throw a Mud Bomb to hopefully lower its accuracy! Let's finish up with another Rock Slide and maybe we can flinch our opponent!

Oh man a Colosshale! It looks big and tough! But how does it fare on land? At least my doggie got feet.

Hype Dog: Arf Arf!

Hype Dog, go for a Yawn, set up a Foresight to avoid possible accuracy reductions, and then end with a nasty Toxic!

TheWolfe brings up a good point. Since the 'less capable on land' part of the Water type's description is unclear, I'm going to say that Colosshale has limited mobility out of water, giving him -2 evasion and making him unable to use most contact attacks (in this case, Fake Out, Pursuit, Rapid Spin, Sucker Punch, Tackle and U-Turn).

The battle begins with water going against water: Hype Dog the Mudkip versus Torpedoh the Colosshale. But it looks like Torpedoh has already rolled snake eyes. While Hype Dog has no problems with fighting on land, Torpedoh finds himself unable to move. At least his natural ability will protect him from Hype Dog's usual means of attack, so let's see how these two pokemon fight each other.

Torpedoh begins by slamming his tail into the ground, creating several rocks that launch themselves towards Hype Dog. The Rock Slide crushes her and scares her into doing nothing! Torpedoh struck it lucky there, and things only get better for him when he sends a Mud Bomb over to Hype Dog, landing an especially powerful hit against her! Down on her luck, Hype Dog relies on Foresight to ensure her attacks don't fail any longer. It works somewhat as, even though she gets crushed by another Rock Slide, her natural toughness gives her the drive to continue. This time, she approaches Torpedoh and coughs a Toxic cloud at him. At such close range, Torpedoh is forced to inhale the toxins, which start to wear him down a little. Will Torpedoh's luck hold out or will the dice favour Hype Dog in the next few minutes?

Hmmm...that would make sense Objection for Colosshale fighting on dry land. Yet I can't help but feel that sounds like too steep a penalty for the Pokemon, particularly the moves restriction. I was thinking more along the lines that it might be slower on land, have less evade, and maybe even a priority penalty but not have its attacks locked out unless they specifically deal with a body of water like Surf and Dive. BiGGiE, what do you think of this?

Either way Hype Dog, let off an intimidating Growl, unleash your Hidden Power and end with a Rock Smash!

Growl ~ Hidden Power: Electric 7 ~ Rock Smash

Also I'll wager 9 HP and 5% energy from Hype Dog to bet on Gray please!

I asked about it on irc and was told that, if I can't imagine him using the attack without moving away from his current spot, then he can't use it.

Also, that grey colour is actually purple.

Alright Torpedoh, looks like we're going to have a tougher time than we thought..

First I want you to use Encore to hopefully get a few turns of free attacks in. Then, I want you to use Leer to lower Hype Dog's defense! Finally, throw off a massive Mud Bomb to stay on the offensive!

We're only at round 2 but it looks like someone is wanting to try their luck with the roulette wheel. Hype Dog pays the house stakes of 9 HP and 5 energy and bets on all the purple spaces. The roulette wheel is spun and a ball is dropped onto it. The ball rolls around the wheel several times before coming to rest on one of the spaces. But which space is it?

The ball starts on green Makuhita and the RNG roll determines how many spaces clockwise it moves.

Hype Dog plays roulette for 9 HP and 5 energy
Roll a D12 for roulette result: 11 - the ball rolls around to purple Azurill

Hype Dog wins 22.5 HP and 10 energy

And we have a winner! Hype Dog's gamble pays off! With renewed confidence, she prepares to attack, but before she can, she hears an Encore from Torpedoh. Flattered, she coughs more Toxic gas in his face but this has absolutely no effect. She tries it again while Torpedoh Leers at her, unnerving her and making her more susceptible to physical attacks. Eventually, Hype Dog comes to her senses and grabs one of the rocks from one of Torpedoh's earlier rock slides. She Smashes this Rock on Torpedoh's head, making him more susceptible to physical attacks too, while Torpedoh throws a Mud Bomb in her face. The mud doesn't stick though and the Mudkip can still see clearly.

Lady Luck has given her blessing once already, but maybe Torpedoh can get it too? Or will he go home empty-handed?

Despite being a fish out of water, Torpedoh is still fighting hard. He makes another Rock Slide over Hype Dog, who responds by Growling at her opponent. Seeing this attempt to soften him up, Torpedoh Leers menacingly at Hype Dog, unnerving her once more. Then the two pokemon get back to attacking. Hype Dog Smashes a Rock on Torpedoh's head, but this only provokes him into making another Rock Slide, this time striking Hype Dog on her weak spot. Sensing that she is in danger, Hype Dog calls upon her Hidden Power and uses it to attack Torpedoh once more. Throughout this battle, the toxins in Torpedoh's body have been weakening him further. How much longer can he last?

Torpedoh, sensing that his advantage over Hype Dog is fading, calls for an Encore on her hidden power move. Unfortunately for him, Lady Luck had turned a blind eye as the Mudkip unleashes her Hidden Power twice with critical results. Not even a Mud Bomb from Torpedoh can prevent her from seeing, but suddenly the tables turn for an instant as the Colosshale creates another Rock Slide and scares Hype Dog into doing nothing. But with the poison taking its toll on him, it'll take a lot of luck to keep Torpedoh alive past the next round.

Aww, too bad. But the gamble has caused her natural ability to finally kick in. It's just a shame that Torpedoh's natural ability makes that useless. Torpedoh, however, is desperate. He unleashes another Rock Slide on Hype Dog as the Mudkip calls upon her Hidden Power again, then Torpedoh hurls a Mud Bomb at Hype Dog, who picks up a Rock and Smashes it on Torpedoh's head. This and the poison have finally brought Torpedoh down, but I can't say Hype Dog is in good shape either.

Torpedoh takes (4+(3-2)*1.5)*1.5=8.25 damage
Torpedoh is KO'd by the attack

Total damage:
Hype Dog: 83.5
Torpedoh: 101.25

BiGGiE automatically sends out his Bagon. Its ability will be Rock Head since its other ability is still locked.

Alright Buster, since we're faster I want you to try and knock that Mudkip out before you get poisoned. So I want you to start with a Dragon Claw. If for whatever reason that Mudkip is still alive, just bite it until she falls.

Dragon Claw >> Bite >> Bite

HP: 6
Atk: Rank 3
Def: Rank 3 (+)
SpA: Rank 2
SpD: Rank 2
Spe: 35 (-)
Energy: 40%
Ability: Torrent
Other: Torrent active

SpD: Rank 2

And to contrast the struggle between Torpedoh and Hype Dog, we have this round. A single Dragon Claw from Buster is enough to fell the Mudkip.

HP: Out of luck
Energy: 40%
Ability: Torrent

HP: 90
Atk: Rank 3
Def: Rank 1 (-)
SpA: Rank 3 (+)
SpD: Rank 2
Spe: 50

Buster uses Dragon Claw for 5 energy
Roll a D16 for crit: 15 - no crit
Hype Dog takes (8+3+(3-3)*1.5)=11 damage
Hype Dog is KO'd by the attack

Total damage:
Hype Dog: 94.5
Buster: 0

TheWolfe, you now need to choose your second pokemon. BiGGiE will order after that, then TheWolfe will order.

Aw poor poor Hype Dog. Return at once!

Hype Dog: *whimper whimper*

All right Roy the Torchic! Let's keep up the showtime!

Torchic - Roy (M)
Nature: Naughty (Adds One (1) Rank to Attack; Subtracts One (1) Rank From Special Defense)
Type: Fire - Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.
*Blaze: (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33%, the base damage of any fire attack is increased by two.

Roy: Torchic! ^o^

EDIT: Putting in ability now. Sorry I just realized this, though it shouldn't be a problem as it only has one ability right now.

Alright Buster, I think we may have a shot at this. I want you to start with a Growl to lower that Torchic's attack strength. Then, I want you to use Hydro Pump for a good chunk of damage! Lastly, you should use Dragon Dance to raise both your attack power and your speed, but if Torchic uses Featherdance at any time, change this action to a Dragon Pulse!

Growl >> Hydro Pump >> Dragon Dance

IF (Featherdance) THEN sub (Dragon Pulse) for (Dragon Dance)

Okay Roy! Set off a Flame Charge to get a solid chunk of damage and to boost up your speed! Dig to dodge that cumbersome Hydro Pump and emerge to deal some good damage! Answer that Dragon Dance with one more Flame Charge!

Flame Charge ~ Dig (burrow and emerge) ~ Flame Charge

Roy: Torchic! ^o^
