Arena
ASB Tournament Arena
Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Nature:

Resultingly it feels it can weather every strike, and will not dodge an attack even if ordered to. Only when a OHKO move is issued by the opponent does sense return, and the Pokemon acts normally. Additionally even with their extra skill, the power and exhaustion involved in using OHKO moves prevents them from being benefitted by No Guard, they will have their normal accuracy.

Steadfast (DW): (Innate) If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

What? That description of the arena with the indoor arena, sandstorm, and no water source was for my other matchup...I meant for this to be the standard tourney arena...

Anyway, lets start with Alurani the Budew

Yes, this is a bad arena for me and I demand it be removed.

HYDRA THE MONOHM

Flamethrower ~ Dragon Pulse ~ Flamethrower / Heal Bell if you are volatiley status'd by the third action.

Maxim threw a pokeball, and out came his Budew. But when she saw her opponent...

Alurani: Ahhhhhh! It's gonna eat me it's gonna eat me it's.......

Maxim: Ugh, it's not gonna eat you, it might have a fire move but-

Alurani: A fire move! I'm gonna burn to cinders, become nothing but ash, I'll burn to a crisp, I'll.....

Maxim: Stop it!

Maxim: Anyway, lets start with a Water Sport to put his fire moves down a peg, then use Sleep Powder to incapacitate him for a minute, and finish off with a Sludge Bomb for damage.

Alurani: A-a-a-alright.

The match begins with our first participants rushing onto the field. First comes Alurani the Budew and she is quickly followed by a Monohm named Hydra. Alurani has the slight speed edge, and she quickly douses any incoming fire based attacks thanks to a Water Sport. Hydra seems intent on roasting her either way however, and her Flamethrower still does some good damage despite the liquid coverage. The little Budew again decides defence is the best form of offence, and launches pink spores at Hydra. The Sleep Powder is able to infiltrate her usually protective lining but it only manages to force the Monohm into a light sleep. The move does allow Alurani to avoid one round of offence, and when it comes around to her final action of the round she decides it is finally time to dish out some pain of her own. The Sludge Bomb she uses as a result of this inclination definitely hurts Hydra. I also have a feeling that it might have had some longer lasting consequences if not for her Shield Dust. The newly awakened Hydra forgoes anything inventive, instead just firing off another Flamethrower to yet more mild damage. It seems like this opening round hasn't seen either Pokemon jump out to a lead, but the foundations are definitely in place for a cracker of a battle.

The field is covered in water (3a)

We return to second round of this beginner battle, and I know I'm very keen to see if someone can forge an advantage this time around. Alurani starts us off with a good defensive tactic. She zips around the field and created the illusion of four clones of herself, its the Double Team attack. Hydra also looks to be planning something, and breaks into a Rain Dance. Suddenly rain starts pouring down onto the already wet field, and while the clones look a little wet now they are most certainly still there. As if the poor Monohm wasn't worried enough already all five Budews then launch a Sludge Bomb at her. Only one of them was real of course, but the damage was still decent. Hydra decides to chance her luck and pick just a single target to aim a Dragon Pulse at. It looked like an impressive attack but unfortunately all it did was dissipate a clone. Alurani sniggers a little, and takes the opportunity to regain a little health thanks to a Mega Drain on Hydra. The move adds to the already heavy energy cost of this round for her, but that small HP gain may prove useful. Finally Hydra lines up what she is sure is the real Budew, but unfortunately her Sonicboom again hits a clone. The three remaining Alurani's then all point and laugh at Hydra, a humiliating experience no doubt.

Rain is pouring down (3 rounds)

Alurani and her clones look set to go in for the kill here. The three remaining Budew's all fire off Sludge Bombs once again, and Hydra is really starting to dislike them. She once again has to chance her luck on picking a target, and darn it if her Dragon Pulse doesn't hit another clone! To rub salt into the wounds Alurani fires off a Shadow Ball at the Monohm. The attack isn't as damaging but the black energy helps remind Hydra of just how impotent she has been. Looking finally fed up the cloud dragon summons all her anger into a ball of pure energy. But wouldn't you know it her Dragon Rage attack hits the very last clone and Alurani is once again un-damaged. The Budew stops laughing for just long enough to fire off another Sludge Bomb, and then Hydra is finally able to respond by hitting her back with a harsh Dragon Pulse. The hit shows just how much damage she could have been doing, but that clever tactic from Alurani and Maxim has put them into a distinct advantage.

With the clones finally gone Hydra can really get down to inflicing some damage on the little flower, but unfortunatly an ever so slight speed disadvantage has her taking a little more of a beating first. Alurani knows what she has been doing is working, so continues the onslaught with another Sludge Bomb. Man are those wearing Hydra down. She is however able to get in what is probably her one last effort, hitting with another Dragon Pulse to some healthy damage. If only she could have hit with a few more of them. Alurani now stops beating around the bush and instead blasts the whole damn forest at her opponent, completely overkilling her with a critical hitting Leaf Storm. The move definitely got the job done, but it also may have severly hampered Alurani's usefulness in the remainder of the fight. I guess we will have to wait until Darkamber sends out another Pokemon to see if this is the case..

Ok, we can screw this strategy over pretty easily.

Let's start with a Worry Seed to get rid of that No Guard, which should make Dynamicpunch miss. Then Stun Spore to keep screwing with him. Finish off with some Spikes. But if he somehow manages to hit you, and you hit yourself in confusion on the second action, use stun spore for that last action

Rain is pouring down (1 round)

As quick as poor Hydra was haxed out of this battle Darkamber has sent out Crackers the Machop to try and recoup some of the lost pride. Alurani seems intent on keeping the hax going however, and thanks to her Worry Seed temporarily removing Crackers' perfect accuracy she looks to have succeeded. With his intent still strong Crackers winds up a huge Dynamicpunch that unforunately misses the target. The chuffed little Budew then spews forth a Stun Spore, which might as well be perfectly accurate thanks to contributions from both battler's natures. The spores leech their way into the Machop's system and leave him paralyzed. Once again the little guy is still happy to go full speed ahead, and while he is able to overcome the paralysis he has no more luck in scoring with his second Dynamicpunch. Knowing full well that her offences are still weakened, and perhaps afraid that Crackers is getting his eye in Alurani just lays down a layer of Spikes. They will be there to welcome Darkamber's third and final Pokemon but will do nothing in the meantime. Crackers continues to follow his trainer's instructions, and finally scores with a Dynamicpunch. Despite his potent offences the move isn't very effective against the bud. It does however leave her intensely confused. To top the round off the rain finally stops, but not that it had an effect on the battle anyway.

After a trolling last round it looks like DA and his Machop might finally have some sort of an advantage. It certainly looks this way first off too, as whatever move Alurani was attempting is foiled by her confusion, so she instead wastes some time doing minimal damage to herself. The hax just won't leave Crackers alone though, because he too spends this round useless thanks to paralysis. Thankfully the RNG hates Budew a little more this round, because she once again is reserved to just whacking herself. This one at least cures her confusion. In a strange turn Crackers goes with a defensive tactic, but the Substitute he makes costs an awful lot of energy. Alurani is finally able to do something at the end of the round, and again chooses to set up for the future of the battle with another layer of Spikes. Crackers once again manages to beat paralysis an unleashes an Ice Punch to some very big damage to round out this portion of the battle.

Despite her precarious position with regards to HP, Alurani's even lower energy levels force her just to chill out and wait for the inevitable. Only another haxxy roll can stop Crackers from finally dealing with her, and this time the Pokegods are kind and he is able to finish off the Budew with an Ice Punch. Unfortunately he also finds himself on the low side of the energy stakes now.

Well, nothing we could do there Alurani.

Go, Nora the Larvesta.

Nora: I'm ready for anything this guy throws at me.

Maxim: I hope so. Anyway, let's start by making a 25 HP substitute to prevent that dynamicpunch from getting to you. Next, Let's hit him with a strong Psychic attack. Then finish with Harden to further nullify his attacks.
