Lotus Duck has the potential to be the most potent GBU rain-abuser there is in Doubles. It was made to abuse rain in almost every way, similar to its sunny cousin Shiftry, but even moreso. Its ability, moveset, and typing are all excellent and make up for not-superb overall stats.
Ludicolo #272 HP: 80 Atk: 70 Def: 70 SpA: 90 SpD: 100 Spe: 70
...
Ludicolo -> Double Battles ->Absorb Bulb<- Ludicolo @ Absorb Bulb / Life Orb / Lum Berry MODEST +Swift Swim+ 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe -Fake Out -Hydro Pump / Scald / Surf -Giga Drain / Grass Knot -Ice Beam Fake Out an undesirable opponent then proceed to get hit by Surf for paltry damage with Ludicolo's 4x Water-resistance. At that point Ludicolo will have +1 SpA and (essentially) + 2 Spd, with access to perfect coverage moves, two of which are STAB'd, one of which is also boosted by the rain. If it looks like it's possible to OHKO a foe with it, Giga Drain the HP lost from Surf back. The choice between Hydro Pump and Scald lies in the accuracy gap, not in the Burn chance; matches played with Ludicolo are seldom matches of stall. If you choose Hydro Pump you will find that in some situations, such as against Garchomp, it will actually be wiser (if you've properly read your opponent) to use Hydro Pump, since it will hit harder than Ice Beam after a Yache Berry activates. Lum Berry is also an option, owing to the heightened threat of a crippling Thunder Wave due to popular knowledge of Ludicolo's functionality as a Swift Swimmer. This Ludicolo is generally used in tandem with Politoed, helping it Surf with Fake Out, but it can also switch in to another's Surf to get the boost. You may find it undesireable to have many Surf users on one team, so it may consequently be wise to use Ludicolo in one of the lead spots.

Maybe I Fake Out'd all the T-Wave users or I just didn't encounter them, or I Hydro Pumped them out of commission, but I just didn't find that a problem very often. I'll add it as a secondary item, though.

slash surf in with the other 2 water moves (or at least mention it); you could very well need the spread move and maybe have something with water absorb on your team

Slash Grass Knot for Giga Drain and give Life Orb a slash.

Sure thing. I'll get to it when I edit in its move lists.

I don't do singles very often, but when i do i use colo as a counter-rain pokemon. Heres the set.
ludicolo@life orb/leftovers timid 252 sp.atk, 252 spe -substitute -energyball/grassknot -hydro pump -ice beam/leech seed Basically switch it in on something like politoed, and get a free substitute. timid is chosen to outspeed all swift swimmer running a non speed nature. The item goes between your last moveslot. orb if you go full offensive, and leftovers to make it a amazing subseeder vs rain. energyball is chosen over grass knot, because a majority of water pokemon arent heavy, but grass knot hits ttar heavy.

Absorb Bulb is also an option over Life Orb, as in GBU singles, Ludicolo is often in only a single time until it dies, and the power boost without recoil when switching into the water moves Ludicolo takes very little damage from is quite appreciated.

This has become my favorite Doubles Pokemon to use, in conjunction with an Eject Button Hitmontop, just for the crazy amount of Fake Outs that you can do. Even outside of rain, it hits just hard enough to get the job done and is tough to stop outside of Bug/Flying attacks. The one I'm using is set up like this (originally meant for the Battle Subway, which explains why the Evs are weird, but works well in GBU):
Ludicolo @ Absorb Bulb MODEST +Swift Swim+ 32 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 216 Spe -Fake Out -Surf -Grass Knot -Protect It's walled by Flying and Grass types typically, but after an Absorb Bulb boost, Surf hits very hard. |
