Uxie (GP 0/2) [Ready for GP]

[Overview]

With Uxie's incredible base 130 and a decent base 75 HP stat, it's no surprise that Uxie is able to handle so many threats of the current RU metagame, combine this with an adequate base 95 Speed stat and one will find Uxie to be the fastest of the RU walls. With an abundance of support options from Dual Screens to Trick Scarf to Trick Room, Uxie is sure to cause some guessing games. Uxie's Psychic typing is a mixed bag. On one hand, Uxie is able to put a stop to hard hitting Fighting type Pokemon, such as Hitmonlee and Medicham. On the other hand, Uxie has a hard time dealing with the hard hitting Dark types in the tier, such as Honchkrow and Crawdaunt. Uxie also lacks a reliable recovery move outside Rest which means Uxie must be played cautiously. Even though Uxie possesses a base 95 Speed stat it will still risk being outsped if there is a lack of Speed investment, which can also make Uxie Taunt bait. Nonetheless, Uxie is an unpredictable defensive threat that when played to its strengths may cause some rage quits.

[SET]
name: Standard Support
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Thunder Wave / Heal Bell
move 4: U-turn
item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate
nature: Impish / Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Uxie is a prime candidate for laying down Stealth Rock and supporting its team. First of all Uxie has the best overall bulk of all the RU Stealth Rockers. This allows Uxie to jump into the fray with out much worry, as few can outright OHKO the pixie. Secondly, Uxie possesses quite a few support options, allowing it to carry the options that best fit a team's needs. Heal Bell is a great option to run because it provides a great way to provide healing of crippling status on fellow teamates. Alternatively, Thunder Wave can be used to punish a fast sweeper trying to set up on Uxie. With so many support options available, Uxie can potentially free up a valuable move-slot for a teammate. U-turn makes Uxie a great scout as well as adding a little damage to an opposing Pokemon which is always nice. Psychic is mainly used for the purpose of getting a hit on an opposing Pokemon before Uxie faints, which in turn can be replaced by Heal Bell if one chooses to also run Thunder Wave. The choice between nature is really down to whether or not you want Psychic or U-turn to hit harder.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The 252 HP, 240 Def, and 16 Spe EV's alongside the Bold nature provide Uxie with maximum physical bulk. This is vital in allowing Uxie to tank hits from RU's hard hitting physical threats such as Aggron, Bouffalant, Druddigon etc. and just enough speed to outpace any Crawdaunt that thinks it can use Uxie as set up bait. However, a faster EV spread of 252 HP, 40 Def, and 216 Spe will allow Uxie to outspeed the base 90 speed tier and set up Stealth Rock faster. Because this Uxie has Leftovers, it has a longer life span than the Dual Screen and Weather Support sets. However, Wish support is recommended because even with Leftovers, Uxie is still in dire need of healing. Clefable is a great choice as a Wish user as it is immune to Ghost type attacks and Clefable's special bulk complements Uxie's physical bulk. Knock Off is a fantastic supporting option that Uxie has. Knock Off allows Uxie to effectively cripple Ferroseed and Munchlax (the two primary Eviolite users in the tier), as well as dangerous choice users such as Primeape and Galvantula. Trick Room is also an option to run on this support set, though a dedicated team is required for it to work effectively. One must be aware that this Uxie is set up bait for Pokemon such as Sub Dragon Dance Crawdaunt and SubPunch Dusknoir. Honchkrow is especially dangerous if Uxie doesn't use Thunder Wave on the switch, or lacks the move all together. Likewise, Scolipede is also dangerous as it can set up its own hazards or put a huge dent in Uxie via Megahorn. Quagsire does a fantastic job at stopping Crawdaunt's set up process as well as Dusknoir's SubPunching antics. While Gligar shuts down Honchkrow and Scolipede completely.

[SET]
name: SubCM
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Psychic / Psyshock
move 4: Thunderbolt
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 96 HP / 188 SpA / 224 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Now I know what everyone must be thinking, "Uxie + Calm Mind = NOOB!". However, contrary to this generally accepted idea, due to the lowered power and bulk of the RU environment, Calm Mind Uxie is very much capable of dealing some major damage with the right support. In a tier that is dominated by base 90 Pokemon, Uxie's base 95 Speed actually is relatively superb. Therefore the 224 Speed EV's and the Timid nature are designed to outrun Rotom. The HP EV's allow Uxie to switch into Moltres' Fire Blast and Calm Mind without being 2HKO'd, even after damage from Stealth Rock. In the meantime Uxie can proceed to smack Moltres around with boosted Thunderbolts. The remainder of the EV's are placed in Special Attack to bolster Uxie's sweeping capabilities. The choice between Psychic and Psyshock is one of more power or the ability to win Calm Mind wars as well as beating Cryogonal's face in. Thunderbolt provides the best coverage along with whichever Psychic-type move is chosen. Because this Uxie is focused more on sweeping and weakening the opposing team, instead of Uxie offering the team support, Uxie will be needing support from the team. Ferroseed works great as a partner capable of laying down Spikes and Stealth Rock, which significantly facilitate Uxie's sweep of the opposing team. Ferroseed also covers Uxie's Dark and Ghost weakness, while Uxie covers Ferroseed's Fighting type weakness. Also, Uxie absolutely hates Taunt and status like Toxic, so having a cleric, such as Clefable, and a check to common Taunt users is a good thing to keep in mind when building a team with this Uxie variant.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

If one wants more bulk a spread of 252 HP / 252 Def and a Bold nature is acceptable. However, the loss of power is significant. and many pokemon will take advantage of Uxie's lack of speed investment in order to hit hard before set up. One can opt to drop Substitute for an additional coverage move such as Giga Drain or Hidden Power Fire. But being highly susceptible to crippling status such as Toxic and Thunder Wave, while being vulnerable to direct attacks make that option risky and generally not worth it. Cryogonal and Steelix are as close to counters as it gets. If Uxie carries Psyshock Steelix can wall Uxie to hell and back, proceed to set up Stealth Rock in the process and eventually Roar Uxie out. Even if Uxie runs Psychic Steelix still does a superb job at walling it (though Steelix's lower Special Defense will mean a harder hit from Psychic). Though if Uxie runs Hidden Power Fire, Steelix won't be walling Uxie for long. Even Munchlax will laugh at anything Uxie throws at it and Whirlwind Uxie away. Clefable will wall this Uxie set, provided Uxie hasn't acquired too many boosts, as repeated Seismic Tosses from Clefable will put Uxie down quite quickly. Beware of Durant and Klinklang as they will beat this Uxie one on one (provided they switch in before Uxie boosts up too high). However, if Uxie carries Hidden Power Fire as previously stated neither will be an issue, especially from behind a Sub. Speaking of Hidden Power Fire, one can choose to use it over either Thunderbolt or Uxie's STAB move to beat this set's common counters. However, this is not advised as Pokemon such as Crawdaunt or Lanturn will walk all over this set. Giga Drain to can be used in the same way and to gain some extra healing but the overall loss of coverage is off putting.

[SET]
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: U-turn / Memento
move 4: Stealth Rock / Thunder Wave
item: Light Clay
ability: Levitate
nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With Cresselia gone from the tier Uxie finally has its time to shine as one of the best dual screeners in RU. Any team that has frail sweepers like Scyther and Crawdaunt will greatly appreciate the bulk Uxie provides. Uxie tends to be a better choice over Claydol in this role because of its access to Memento and its above average base 95 Speed stat. Uxie's relatively high speed stat also allows it to outspeed most of the RU metagame (in which few Pokemon can even scratch the base 90 speed mark). Uxie's speedy screens plus Memento can allow an incredibly frail Pokemon, such as Rampardos, a chance to shine. The choice between Memento and U-turn comes down to whether or not one wants Uxie to continually set up Dual Screens. Memento has the advantage of lowering your opponents stats even more (at the cost of Uxie's life) and could allow a sweeper, such as Sharpedo, to forgo Protect in exchange for an extra coverage move. However, U-turn provides an escape to preserve Uxie's health as this variant lacks Leftovers recovery. Stealth Rock is generally the choice for the last move as it removes the need for another team member to carry it; however, Thunder Wave allows slower sweepers, such as Honchkrow and Swords Dance Crawdaunt, a chance to sweep even after screens are down.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The 252 Speed EV's allow Uxie to at least speed tie with other base 95 Pokemon and set up Reflect or Light Screen before they can attack. One could choose to run the same EV's as on the support set to provide more bulk and outrun max speed base 55's (such as Bouffalant and Crawdaunt). However, the bulk is more or less irrelevant after screens are up anyway. Even though this Uxie variant allows its teammates to survive longer, this Uxie itself doesn't have much endurance due to the lack of leftovers. It's highly recommended that Wish support from a Pokemon such as Clefable is run alongside this set to provide some healing to the pixie as it has no way to heal itself. Unlike any other Uxie set, this variant does not have as much trouble with Dark types due to the screens thus allowing a little breathing room on one's team. However, strong Dark type attacks, such as Pursuit and Night Slash, from the likes of Choice Band Drapion and Honchkrow can still do a considerable amount to the pixie and significantly shorten Uxie's life span. Therefore, Rhydon is a great partner for this Uxie as it loves to come in on choice locked attacks (especially under screens) and fire off powerful Stone Edges and Earthquakes. Any Pokemon with Taunt will do a fantastic job at shutting this Uxie down as they will limit Uxie to one screen or Stealth Rock. Psychic can be used as an offensive move for fighting types, but honestly this Uxie set should be focused on setting up screens and not attacking.

[SET]
name: TrickScarf
move 1: U-turn
move 2: Stealth Rock / Zen Headbutt
move 3: Thunder Wave
move 4: Trick
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Levitate
nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

At first glance, Uxie may look like an odd Pokemon to slap a Choice Scarf on, but with the Choice Scarf Uxie becomes a fast a bulky scout through the use of U-turn. The surprise value of this Uxie variant can leave an opponent question his/her sanity. Although, the point of this set is to gain momentum through U-turn, Uxie can also support its team in a flash. Thunder Wave is a fantastic move for Uxie to have while holding a Choice Scarf, with Thunder Wave Uxie gains the ability to cripple fast and powerful threats (such as Choice Scarf Moltres, Life Orb Accelgor, and Swords Dance Scyther etc.) by inducing a quick paralysis that could save the game. The second option is between Stealth Rock and Zen Headbutt. Stealth Rock is a phenomenal support option as Uxie can set it up faster than ever with the Choice Scarf, or set it up after Uxie has tricked away its Scarf. However, Zen Headbutt allows Uxie to hit Fighting types and attempt to execute a paraflinch strategy. However, being Choice locked into a Psychic move can bee risky in the RU tier with all the Dark types running a muck. Finally Uxie has Trick, like Thunder Wave Trick can be used as a last ditch effort to cripple a set up sweeper and lock them into one move. By using Trick one has the added bonus of crippling walls by stealing Leftovers or (in Ferroseed and Munchlax's case) Eviolite. Trick can also be used to cause an opponent headaches as shuffling their items around could allow for some double switch advantages. With the speed EV's listed Uxie will be able to out speed all base 90 pokemon after he has tricked away his scarf and proceed to paralyze them or U-turn out to gain momentum. The remaining EV's are placed in defense in order to cushion blows from attacks like Honchkrow's Sucker Punch.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Unlike previous sets, this Uxie takes a different approach at team support. Quick Paralysis, combined with the ability to cripple walls with Trick, Uxie's counters are different from previous sets. Honchkrow is still a high priority threat as an untimely Trick could lead to a sweep by Moxie Scarf Krow. Choice Band Drapion does a fantastic job at knocking Uxie's health down with a powerful Pursuit as Uxie uses U-turn. Rhydon and Hariyama are excellent partners to this variant of Uxie as they appreciate the paralysis support and neither really cares about Choice locked Dark type attacks. Like all Uxie sets, Clefable (or any other Wish passer) is a friend to be kept close, seeing as she provides an immunity to ghost type attacks and passes Wish off to Uxie so the pixie can keep up the U-turning antics. Unlike the bulkier sets, running Thunder Wave is what gives this Uxie the edge, the ability to spread quick paralysis through the opponent's team is quite irritating. Especially when Uxie is typically seen as a slow defensive wall. Therefore slow and powerful sweepers are acceptable partners. These Pokemon include, Hariyama (as previously stated), Golurk and Druddigon. After Uxie's scarf is gone Sub Charge Rotom becomes a pain to beat as it can set up sub before Uxie can paralyze it and then proceed to start boosting. Running a Pursuit trapper, such as Drapion, will do a fantastic job at eliminating Rotom.

[SET]
name: Weather Support
move 1: U-Turn
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: Sunny Day / Rain Dance
move 4: Psychic / Heal Bell
item: Heat Rock / Damp Rock
nature: Impish / Bold
evs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With no auto-weather in RU, Uxie can be seen as a viable sun or rain inducer. Again, Uxie utilizes the tried and true Defensive EV spread. The purpose behind these EV's are to provide a cushion against the powerful physical attacks that run rampant in RU while still outspeeding maximum speed invested base 55's. U-Turn is great for getting out of the way so a weather-based sweeper can get in, especially considering this Uxie variant isn't very fast. This means Uxie will take a hit and proceed to get a weather-based sweeper in unscathed. Stealth Rock is a fabulous support move in general and frees up a moveslot on another Pokemon. Psychic is suggested to prevent Uxie from being total Taunt bait, however, Uxie should be focused on setting up weather and leaving. And with Uxie's pitiful offenses Psychic won't be doing to much anyway. Heal Bell, on the other hand, will allow Uxie to further aid its team by ridding status on a crippled sweeper, again Heal Bell should be used sparingly as using it will take a turn of weather away from a sweeper.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

An alternative Spread of 252 Hp, 40 Def, 216 Spe will alow Uxie to outspeed most of the unboosted RU tier and set up weather quicker, not to mention that a faster spread could help guarantee weather and Stealth Rock. However, the loss of bulk really hurts Uxie's ability to continually switch in and set up the preferred weather. Toxic hurts a lot if Uxie lacks Heal Bell, so a Heal Bell user such as Clefable can be used to free up a move slot for Uxie. Speaking of Clefable, she is a fantastic teammate. Like previously stated the ghost immunity and Wish supporting can really help Uxie's survivability as without Leftovers Uxie won't be surviving indefinately. Not to mention Clefable can also aid in setting up weather. There are tons of support options that Uxie can run such as Toxic, Thunder Wave and even Reflect or Light Screen can be used. However the more time Uxie spends out on the field supporting, the less time there is for a team member to sweep. Speaking of weather based teammates, the teammates for this Uxie variant depend on the weather of your choice, if Uxie runs Sunny Day, Charizard, Lilligant and Magmortar are fantastic choices to abuse boosted Fire type attacks and Chlorophyll. If Uxie instead runs Rain Dance, Crawdaunt, Floatzel and Magneton make great partners to take advantage of with boosted Water type moves and 100% accurate Thunder. Like many of the previous sets Honchkrow and other Dark types love to switch in and smack Uxie around with their STAB moves. Gligar is the best counter to Honchkrow as the Eviolite + Roost combination will wall Honchkrow all day long. Sharpedo deserves special mention as a fantastic teammate with Rain Dance Uxie as well as a huge threat. To counter opposing Sharpedo one can run Ferroseed which walls all Sharpedo variants in the rain, priority in all forms can be used to prey on Sharpedo's frail defenses. Mach Punch from Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan will KO Sharpedo in a heartbeat, though neither can switch in safely.

[Other Options]

A Crocune like set of Rest / Sleep Talk / Calm Mind / Psyshock with 252 HP EV's and 252 Def EV's could be used, but with Uxie's low attacking stats and the high frequency of Dark-types in RU Uxie won't be pulling this set off too effectively. Safeguard is another option to prevent status and it could work with a spread that utilizes speed EV's, but Uxie has Heal Bell to rid itself and teammates of status and there are better support options that Uxie has. An alternative spread of 252 HP / 252 Spe with a Timid or Jolly nature can be used on any of the support sets to try to balance bulk and speed, however Uxie is primarily used for its bulk and solely attributing EV's to Uxie's bulk is usually best. Magic Coat is also an option to use the opponents status against Uxie or sending hazards back against a Crustle or Scolipede (if you're feeling lucky), but after Uxie uses Magic Coat once the surprise is over and it effectively becomes a dead move slot.

[Checks And Counters]

Pokemon like Clefable can status Uxie while taking little damage from it's attacks and proceed to either set itself up or wear Uxie down. Even the Sub Calm Mind set is walled by Clefable, who can use Seismic Toss and break Uxie's Substitutes. Sharpedo and Spiritomb, along with most Dark types, are huge threats if Uxie has taken prior damage. Honchkrow becomes very deadly to any defensive Uxie set with out Thunder Wave, even more so if Honchkrow runs Substitute. Drapion is also a very dangerous to every Uxie set, it can run Taunt to shut down Uxie's set up attempts, set up Toxic Spikes, hit Uxie hard with Choice Banded Crunches or Pursuit as Uxie tries to flee. Uxie is also at a disadvantage against most stall Pokemon unless it runs Toxic, Dusknoir is a prime example of this, as with Pressure, STAB Ghost type moves, and Pain Split Uxie will be left struggling and more often than not switch out. Fast Substitute users will also cause Uxie problems, Galvantula is one of these. Galvantula can set up a Substitute on Uxie to avoid paralysis and then proceed to fire off STAB Bug Buzz. Finally Uxie's lack of reliable recovery lets it down, as powerful STAB and super effective moves will wear Uxie down quickly and limit the pixie's effectiveness.

I know you're still working on this, but Yawn is terrible... slash Stealth Rock instead.
Yawn by itself is indeed terrible, but when used in conjunction with U-turn, it more or less gives a free switch or a free turn of set-up.

@OP
On a side note, RU is filled with Special Attackers, so you should build it SDef-wise. Also, a standard support set should definitely be put. Heal Bell, Knock Off and SR is valuable.

Yeah a standard support set seems likethe way to go, not just dual screens, i saw someone running a subCM set to good effect but thats up for you to choose. Definatley put a support set.

The Dual Screener set should look like this:

[SET]
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: U-Turn / Memento
move 4: Stealth Rock / Yawn / Thunder Wave
item: Light Clay
ability: Levitate
nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

Or something like that at the very least. Moves are arranged in order of importance, so the last slot, which is essentially just a filler slot (with Rocks being the best option for most teams) is where you should slash Yawn in, with U-Turn and Memento being in the third slot. Don't even bother with Psychic - give it an AC mention at best, since if you're running dual screens, you don't want to be wasting the turns attacking with Uxie, you want to be getting in a sweeper and setting up.

here's my post from the last thread, be sure to update accordingly, in fact you should probably glance over the thread yourself if you haven't done so

SubCM should be there.

[SET]
name: SubCM
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Psychic
move 4: Thunderbolt
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 96 HP / 188 SpA / 224 Spe

The EVs I copied over from 4th gen and they've been working for me. Scoopapa if you want to post your EV spread that'd be awesome. This is supposedly what the EVs above do: "The HP EVs provide Uxie with enough bulk to switch into Moltres's Fire Blast, use Calm Mind, and not be 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. The heavy Speed investment allows Uxie to outspeed Timid Rotom, while the rest are placed into Special Attack to power up Uxie's offenses."

Anyway, this should be there.

I'd also be tempted to add a Weather Supporter set.

[SET]
name: Weather Support
move 1: Sunny Day / Rain Dance
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Psychic / Heal Bell
item: Heat Rock / Damp Rock
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

Haven't tested it myself, but I imagine that's close to what people are running. If someone would care to input here that'd be awesome.

For SubCM, Giga Drain needs to be slashed as a coverage move. I can say from experience that the healing is really, really, useful, and can keep Uxie in the game in situations where it would usually get whittled down (Uxie is so bulky that "whittling" is pretty common). It may not provide as much coverage but I've been using it for a while and there have been many times where it was the difference between winning and losing (i.e. coming back to sweep at 12% health or healing back up to half health after eating a +2 Simipour Hydro Pump). If you go the Giga Drain route, Magneton can counter almost everything that walls you as a result of using Giga Drain over Thunderbolt (MoxieKrow and Durant most notably), and has pretty good type synergy with Uxie. Honchkrow is the only Dark-type you need Thunderbolt for, while Giga Drain hits Krookodile. Both hit Sharpedo and Crawdaunt, although Giga Drain is better against them because you are going to be gaining tons of health after OHKOing them.

Yawn definitely need to be slashed in most of the set that has T-wave IMO. A combination of Yawn + U-turn is great. Also, on the standard support set, Heal Bell should be slashed with Knock Off, and T-wave/Yawn should be used at that spot, otherwise it will face still competition with other clerics that has access to instant recovery.

EDIT: Also, I don't see the point of investing so much speed into the TrickScarf set. You said in the OP that it allows it to outspeed Moltres and Liligant etc., but what can you to to them anyway (or rather what can they do to you)? IMO you are better off placing enough EVs to outspeed say Feraligatr before it can set up on you or something (which makes Yawn even more valuable)

Ok the Speed EV's are there so Uxie can T-Wave Lilligant and Moltres before they start setting up. (Substitute in Moltres' case and Quiver Dance in Lilligant's case). I'll up date the sets a bit because I wholeheartedly agree that Yawn and U-Turn work great together. So as soon as I get home and use an actual computer i'll up date this.

Slash Thunder Wave with Knock Off on the standard Support set. I'd also make that the first set, since it seems more common and generally useful than Dual Screens.

Also, change the EV spread on all the support sets (Support, Dual Screens, and Weather Support) to 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe. This makes you faster than Jolly Crawdaunt and Bouffalant, so you can Reflect/Memento/Rain Dance/whatever before they nail you with Crunch/Megahorn. (And no Oglemi, this isn't speed creep, since you're beating their maximum possible speed.)

Before we finalize anything I think there needs to be a set order change. The SuBCM should be #1, its Uxie's most devastating set by far.

SubCM is very good, but that's partly because Standard Support is so common (for good reason) and so people tend to make bad switch-ins. Set order IMO should be Support > SubCM > Dual Screens > TrickScarf > Weather Support.

Weather Support's EVs should be the same as standard Support.

Standard support's moves are wonky. It should look like this:

move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Thunder Wave / Heal Bell
move 4: Psychic / Heal Bell

Knock Off, Magic Coat, Yawn, and Toxic in AC.

Honko, there's no need to slash Heal Bell twice, just slash it with one of those moves and call it a day, looks much cleaner than way

Sure whatever, as long as you make it clear that any combination of 2 of those 3 moves is fine.
