[Overview]

  • excellent scout with fake out + u-turn
  • base 115 speed
  • can use a nasty plot set
  • no more competition form ambipom
  • poor offenses
  • frail
[SET]
name: Scout
move1: Fake Out
move2: U-turn
move3: Taunt / Bite
move4: Return
item: Life Orb / Silk Scarf
ability: Technician
Nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • excellent scout
  • "free damage" with fake out + u-turn
  • Return for STAB and to hit as hard as possible
  • Bite has a flinch chance, and hits 90 power with technician
  • Seed bomb hits Golem and Rhydon hard
  • Life Orb gives more power, silk scarf takes away recoil
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • Hypnosis can be used over a coverage move, but it is unreliable
  • foul play can be used, but bite is nearly as strong
  • Faint attack can be used, but bite's flinch chance is sorely missed
  • taunt can be used to stop status and stealth rock

[SET]
name: Evil Kitten
move1: Nasty Plot
move2: Swift
move3: Water Pulse
move4: Thunderbolt
item: Life Orb
ability: Technician
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 Spa / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Persian's Spa is only slightly lower than attack
  • swift gets a technician boost and hits hard after a NP
  • water pulse hits Rock-Types such as golem and rhydon
  • Thunderbolt hits the only thing that resists both attacks, frillish
  • reaches 458 special attack after a nasty plot
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • cool lure, can take down rhydon easily
  • hazards are important to this set to get certain Koes, as persians Spa is still kinda low after a NP
  • frail, needs support to set up
  • Dual screens really help persian by boosting its defense
[Other Options]

  • choice band
  • night slash
  • foul play
  • power gem on NP set
  • aerial ace
  • weather starter
  • torment
    Knock Off
[Checks and Counters]

  • pursuit users
  • priority
  • Throh
  • Sawk
  • scarfed pogeymons
  • anything with defense
    Weezing
will be adding more soon

I'd definitely much rather have Taunt/Hypnosis on the scout set rather than coverage moves and stuff. Persian has a cool niche in being the fastest sleep inducer in NU and even though its accuracy sucks it's still more valuable than Seed Bomb (which only has a small chance of 2HKOing 252 HP / 252 Atk Adamant Rhydon). Fast Taunts are pretty neat too. I'd rather have one of those than a coverage move off of base 70 Attack that doesn't even always 2HKO the one prominent mon that it's supposed to hit. Seed Bomb is worth a mention, sure, just not really the first slash.

I don't think I'd be using NP much either but it's cute and clears out Rhydon for other mons.
