Just Another RMT

Just Another RMT

The team at a glance:

Hey everyone, this is my first RMT and my most successful team so far. I decided to make a non-weather team originally, since weather is (in my experience) easily defeated by the right pokemon. However, it is difficult to make a non weather team that succeeds against all kinds of weather, as well as other non-weather teams. Of course, this is what everyone sets out to achieve, and I believe I have assembled a team capable of doing this. So without further ado I present to you my non-weather team!

Rotom W @ Choice Specs
Levitate | Timid nature
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Hidden Power [Fire]
-Trick

Rotom W is just amazing. It can smash huge holes in most opposing teams with its incredible coverage. Volt Switch is decently powerful and is exceptionally useful for scouting. Hydro Pump is Rotom W's most powerful move, and is capsble of OHKOing or 2HKOing almost anything unresisted, unless of course your name is Chansey or Blissey. Hidden Power [Fire] is insanely useful as well, getting a surprise KO on Grass types, especially Ferrothorn. The final move is Trick, which solves all my problems with walls like the aforementioned Blisseey / Chansey. I usually lead with Rotom W because it is so versatile, and has only one weakness.

Changes: I might change the Hidden Power to Grass, since I already have Heatran and it would be good to counter opposing Rotom Ws, Gastrodons, and the like. However, Hidden Power [Fire] is very useful already. I'll leave it to you guys- should I change it?

Synergy:

Heatran, Celebi, Breloom

Celebi @ Leftovers
Natural Cure | Modest nature
232 HP / 240 SpA / 36 Spe
-Thunder Wave
-Leaf Storm
-Hidden Power [Fire]
-Recover

Celebi replaces Blissey and acts as a wall / special attacker. It is very versatile and solves several problems for my team. Thunder Wave is to cripple fast attackers, and the has is sometimes very useful. Leaf Storm is Celebi's most powerful move, and it deals serious damage. The Special Attack drop is unappealing though. Hidden Power [Fire] deals with grass types hoping to come in on Leaf Storm, and also kills Scizor. Recover is so that Celebi lasts a lot longer.

Changes: Would it be a good idea to give Celebi Giga Drain? Although I would see a huge drop in power, it would make Celebi more into a wall of sorts.

Synergy:

Heatran, Rotom W

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W, Terrakion

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W

Heatran, Terrakion

Heatran, Breloom, Terrakion

Heatran

Heatran, Terrakion

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Regenerator | Bold nature
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
-Scald
-Thunderwave
-Psychic
-Slack Off

Oh my god, this thing…. Slowbro is my favourite physical wall in the metagame, being able to tank nearly every physical hit thrown at it. If that's not enough, it has some great moves to back it up. Scald is for decent damage and a chance of burn. Thunderwave is useful for crippling a fast attacker. Psychic is for great damage against Fighting types, which Slowbro walls all day long. Slack Off is for instant recovery, which is always useful. Slowbro also gets Regenerator, which heals 33% each time he's switched out, which has saved me on many occasions.

Changes: I might change Thunderwave for a different status move, since I rarely use it. Probably I'm just a bad player, but still. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Synergy:

Heatran, Celebi, Breloom

Celebi, Breloom

Heatran, Breloom, Terrakion

Heatran

Heatran, Terrakion

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Justified | Jolly nature
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-X-Scissor
-Earthquake

Terrakion replaces Mamoswine on my team, acting as a revenge killer. Close Combat is Terrakion's most powerful move, and deals large chunks of damage to almost anything unresisted. Stone Edge is Terrakion's other STAB, hitting Flying types that resist CC. X-Scissor is for Psychic-types, and Earthquake is for additional coverage, mostly against Electrics.

Changes: None.

Synergy:

Slowbro, Celebi

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W

Slowbro, Rotom W, Celebi

Heatran, Celebi, Breloom

Rotom W, Celebi, Breloom

Slowbro, Heatran, Celebi

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal | Careful nature
236 HP / 212 SpD / 60 Spe
-Bulk Up
-Spore
-Drain Punch
-Seed Bomb

Breloom replaces what was previously Conkeldurr as my boosting physical sweeper. Bulk Up is to raise its already-high Attack and defence, while Spore is one of the best moves in the game, crippling a pokemon with Sleep and giving Breloom at least one free turn to set up. Drain Punch is a decently strong fighting-type attack, which has the added bonus of healing Breloom. Seed Bomb is another greatSTAB move, taking out pesky bulky waters.

Changes: None really.

Synergy:

Slowbro, Heatran, Celebi

Heatran, Rotom W

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W, Terrakion

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W

Heatran, Terrakion

Heatran @ Air Baloon
Flash Fire | Modest Nature
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power [Ice]
-Stealth Rock

Heatran rounds off the team as a strong Special attacker. Fire Blast is a very powerful attack, and can do great damage to most opponents, even when resisted. Earth Power is great for coverage purposes, and is another strong attack in its own right. Hidden Power [Ice] is to smash Dragons with a super effective attack, and it is also great for other SE coverage. Finally, Stealth Rock is for hazard abuse.

Changes: Once again, I may use Expert Belt, since I dislike the Life orb recoil and bluffing a Choice item is always fun.

Synergy:

Slowbro, Rotom W, Celebi, Breloom

Slowbro, Celebi

Rotom W, Celebi, Breloom

Overall Team Changes:

I definitely need some priority, to help me deal with fast Scarfed pokes, especially Scarf Latios.

Well there you have it folks, that's my non-weather team. I need constructive criticism, so throw it at me. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance for the rates.

Previous Team Members:

Blissey @ Leftovers
Natural Cure | Bold nature
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
-Seismic Toss
-Wish
-Protect
-Toxic

Blissey is everybody's favourite special wall. I went for Blissey instead of her little sister Chansey because the Leftovers recovery is oh-so useful and the fact that is can't take physical hits as well doesn't matter so much because of Slowbro. Seismic Toss is for solid, reliable damage on anything but ghosts. Wish is for healing and awe-inspiring team support. Protect is incredibly useful for scouting purposes, and gets extra healing through Leftovers and Wish. Finally, Toxic is great for crippling… just about anything besides Steels and (rare) Poison-types.

Changes: None that I can think of.

Synergy:

Slowbro

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Snow Cloak | Adamant nature
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
-Icicle Crash
-Earthquake
-Ice Shard
-Stone Edge

Mamoswine is the newest addition to my team. I am hoping that he'll be able to solve some of my team's issues. Icicle Crash is for solid damage and a chance to Flinch. Earthquake is a hellishly powerful move, capable of taking out most unresisted pokemon. Ice Shard is for some much-needed priority, and easily takes care of my team's Dragon weakness. Finally, Stone Edge is for excellent coverage.

Changes: Maybe give it a different item to Choice Band. Probably and Expert Belt to bluff a Choice item.

Synergy:

Slowbro

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W

Slowbro, Heatran, Rotom W

Slowbro, Rotom W

Heatran

Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Guts | Brave nature
120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SpD
-Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Stone Edge

Conkeldurr is just a wrecking ball of destruction. Very little can survive it's powerful attacks. Bulk Up boosts his already massive attack stat, as well as the defence stat for added survivability. Drain Punch is extremely useful, dealing huge chunks of damage while healing Conkeldurr. Mach Punch gives it priority, while still being pretty powerful. Stone edge gives Conkeldurr a strong attack to use against resistant Flying-types, as well as nearly anything else that resists Fighting.

Changes: I might put Payback over Stone edge for Ghosts, especially Dusclops / Dusknoir. But probably not, since Stone Edge is already very useful.

Synergy:

Slowbro, Heatran

Heatran, Rotom W

New World Order

Licks Toads
is a Team Rater Alumnusis a Contributor Alumnus
Hi, cool team. First of all, the Volt-turn combination of Scizor and Rotom-W could give your team some issues, as one or the other are bound to give one of your Pokemon troubles. Rain stall is another playstyle that could greatly hamper your team, as you have four Pokemon prone to Toxic Spikes (although one of them does grab a nice Attack boost from it) and one other Pokemon who is completely useless against Rain teams. A way you can fix this up is to replace Conkeldurr with a Bulk Up Breloom. Breloom has no problems dealing with Rotom-W, as it resists their STABs, and also laughs at Scizor after a Bulk Up or two. Bulk Up Breloom also tears apart Rain stall, boasting super effective STABs against some of the most common members of Rain stall, such as Politoed, Ferrothorn, and Quagsire, and also only benefits from poison, unlike Conkeldurr, who is still negatively affected. Breloom also has a pseudo status immunity with a Toxic Orb.

If a fast revenge killer is what you seek, then Choice Scarf Terrakion is your man, in place of Choice Band Mamoswine. Currently, Bulky Volcarona can cause some problems, as Heatran doesn't actually have anything to hit it with, after a couple Quiver Dances, Heatran wont be doing much damage anymore. Should you make the change to Bulk Up Breloom, you will also have opened your team up to SD Lucario. Choice Scarf Terrakion can revenge kill all three of those. While Mamo's Ice Shard could prove helpful, Choice Scarf Terrakion is still able to check many of the threats Mamoswine was expected to, such as DD Salamence and DD Dragonite. Choice Scarf Terrakion can always go on a late game sweep with Close Combat as well, and adds some much welcome Offense to your team.

Of course, Terrakion is not enough for checking DD Salamence and DD Dragonite, you can never have too many lines of defenses against those two. Swap Heatran's item to an Air Balloon to help with this, and run Hidden Power Ice in place of Dragon Pulse. This way, the Dragons will have to Outrage to break your Air Balloon rather than Earthquake, while you can return fire with Hidden Power Ice. As well, numerous Chlorophyll sweepers, such as Sawsbuck and Tangrowth, love to run Ground-type moves solely for Heatran. Wouldn't it absolutely suck if you lost him to a random Earthquake Venusaur and got swept? It also gives you backup against Landorus, who, with the loss of Mamoswine, is checked only by Slowbro. As well, no point really of Timid nature, as you outspeed nothing significant, go with Modest instead.

Finally, swap Toxic on Blissey for Thunder Wave, if Bliss and Slowbro carry different status moves, they might clash, as you might accidentally poison something you needed paralyzed or something. Paralysis is the more useful status for your team, as you are full of average Speed, but powerful Attackers, such as Specs Rotom-W, Offensive Heatran, and Bulk Up Breloom/ Conkeldurr.

GL
Bulk Up Breloom>Bulk Up Conkeldurr
pros: better status absorber, deals with Volt-turn, deals with Rain stall
cons: more difficulty against SD Lucario

Choice Scarf Terrakion>Choice Band Mamoswine
pros: checks SD Lucario, Volcarona, DD Scrafty, SD Toxicroak and many more, retain check against DD Dragonite and DD Salamence
cons: lose out on STAB Earthquake and priority Ice Shard

Air Balloon>Life Orb+HP Ice>Dragon Pulse+Modest>Timid on Heatran
pros: better for dealing with DD Dragons, Chlorosweepers, and Landorus
cons: less power, the Speed is non-issue because you don't outspeed anything significant

Thunder Wave>Toxic on Blissey
pros: better team synergy
cons: I guess you lose Toxic... but Blissey is generally well off just T-Waving and SeismicToss spamming

Hey,

I've noticed that along with your weakness to the ever-common Volt-Turn cores that have taken over the meta game, you will have some serious problems with Fighting threats. Now, you are probably good enough so that you won't let Slowbro go down too easily, but under pressure of common opposing Terrakion or Breloom, Slowbro will go down very fast. In fact, your whole team is hit for super effective damage by Breloom sans Conkeldurr, who won't be able to set up on Breloom should he have a Sub up. A way to patch this up would be replacing Blissey with Celebi. Though you use Blissey for Wish support, I can't imagine that it is used too often because there are not too many opportunities for your Pokemon to switch in due to the massive Fighting weakness. I agree with NWO; I think a Scarf Terrakion will do you a lot of good.

Cool team; I hope I helped. Good luck!

Thanks guys, I will be trying out your changes.

@New World Order, you are right about the rain stall thing- my team once got demolished by a Ludicolo. Although I haven't had that much trouble with toxic spikes, since Blissey recovers from it through Natural Cure, and can heal it off, Slowbro does plenty of switching too to take advantage of Regenerator, and Conkeldurr turns into an absolute powerhouse with Guts activated. Also I had Dragon Pulse on Heatran over Hidden Power [Ice] to hit stuff like Lati@s and Hydreigon stronger, and it was a little redundant with Mamoswine. But with Terrakion over Mamoswine, I will accept the change. I will try your other changes to Heatran too. Also I will try Thunderwave on Blissey, since although Toxic is useful, it isn't really needed mostly. Thanks for the rate!

@harsha2014, you are correct in thinking that I rarely use Blissey's healing powers, so I will try your Celebi instead. Thanks for the rate!

Edit: I am very happy with the changes, all my new pokes have shown their worth. However, I have a couple of problems now. After incorporating the changes suggested to me, I have realised that my team has ZERO PRIORITY. I am having difficulty with Scarf Latios in particular. Can someone help please?

If it is powerful priority you wish for, look no further than the number one Pokemon in the metagame, Scizor. With a Choice Band set, it can revenge kill some of the most prominent threats in the metagame, such as Terrakion, Haxorus, and Salamece, and backs up Slowbro and Heatran for dealing with these guys. As long as you don't do something stupid and switch Scizor into HP Fire, you can play mindgames with the opponent using U-turn and Pursuit. Even if you do get hit by HP Fire, its a free switch-in for Heatran now. Keep in mind, though, that by going to Scizor, you are losing out on either Blissey's Wish support or Celebi's ability to check Breloom. I've already replaced 2 members of your team and don't want to replace another. But it's something worth keeping in mind.

Thanks New World Order, I did have a Scizor on one of my previous versions of this team, but I would be reluctant to put it onto the team now because I already have two pokes weak to fire and I don't know who I'd put it over anyway, since all my pokes are very important as is.
