-----Introduction-----

Welcome to my team. This team is focused around countering numerous threats while being able to attack back. I believe this team is pretty balanced, and has unique answers to the most prevelent threats in the metagame. I don't have trouble with any particular playstyle, and can counter obscure threats pretty effeciently. I made this team around a classic two boosting sweepers, two poke defensive core, and a rapid spinner. I hope you like appreciate the time I put not only into the team, but building this thread, and I hope you can help this team improve!

Tad about me:
Started battling on PO about a month ago with absolutely no idea of how to play. Didn't really have a lot of help from anyone except smogon's analyses. I played cartridge through leaf green. I've never played gen 4 beyond, but I plan to. Obviously this is my first RMT, so if I make stupid mistakes, I hope you all can understand.

-----TeamBuilding----
----
Process
-----

I started with a jirachi-gyarados core as they cover each others weaknesses pretty good.
385.gif
Gyarados

Through my experience, I felt like I really needed a rapid spinner. So I picked Starmie.

121.gif

I then felt I would need a good substitute user, because I was always getting surprised when an opponent would substitute. So I picked Terrakion.
639.gif

I then wanted a really good boosting sweeper, who wouldn't be easily stopped. It is for this reason I chose Dragonite.
149.gif

Then, I thought I needed a good psychic type that could take care of the abundant fighting-types that populate OU. So I picked alakazam.

And so my team was complete!...Until I realized that my team did not meld together. Starmie just compounded alakazams pursuit weakness, so I chose a more physical route.
237.gif

The lack of special attackers was apparent on my team, so I decided to replace terrakion with hydreigon.

635.gif

My team was doing pretty good, but alakazam was really lacking, due to the overpopulous scizor, He could really only get 1 kill at best. I tried hpfire, but i lost alot of coverage. So I decided I would test other pokes. If you read the mew description later in the post, you will find out why I chose him. With mew, I could finally have a psychic type that could take a few hits. And so, my team was born.

Harsha2014 suggested I replace mew with nasty plot infernape. The trial tests reinforced his idea. As such, mew was replaced.

-----Jirachi-----
2.jpg

Saint Peter (Jirachi)@ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

Moves:

  • Iron Head: Goes along with body slam to form infamous paraflinch combo. I've been able to parahax teams 1v6 with these two moves.

  • Body Slam: Read above.

  • Wish: Jirachi is the wish pokemon, and naturally, a tremendous wish passer. I have beaten teams with just this move, stealth rock, and gyarados.

  • Stealth Rock: Practically a necessity for any good competetive team. Turns so many 3k0s into 2k0s and has saved my ass multiple times. Breaks sashes, and allows me to beat volcarona.

Why this pokemon?: Adds the resistances to this team that I need. He and gyarados form a tremendous defensive core that covers most of the metagame. My only dragon resist, and he takes random hp fires pretty good. His body slam lets me paralyze some important enemies of mew.

EVs, Item & Nature: Standard sDef Jirachi set. Lets it take draco meteors and any special move that isn't fire.

Synergy:

: Hydreigon, Gyarados, Dragonite

-----Hydreigon-----

2llgejb.png

Ceberus (Hydreigon) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 SpD / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

Moves:

  • Substitute: Chosen for common sub reasons. Allows me to protect from status and beat checks/counters.

  • Dragon Pulse: Chosen for reliable STAB, and 0k0es pretty much all dragons if stealth rock is up.

  • Fire Blast: Another move I have a problem with. The accuracy can be letting down at times, but because I don't have life orb power, I can't use flamethrower.

  • Focus Blast: Hate this move but it provides great coverage along with the other two moves. Lets me take on rock types like tyranitar.

Why this pokemon?: Love this pokemon for countering volt-turn. If I can substitute on rotom before he tricks me than I wreck through the opposing team. His bulk lets me take vaccum waves from boosted lucario if I'm at full health, I can then proceed to 0k0 with fire blast.

EVs, Item & Nature: Maximized special attack because 99 speed is a very weird level. I don't outspeed anything important with timid, and I don't get outsped by anything important without it. I chose leftovers because with it I can survive two mach punches from unboosted conkeldurr, and 2k0 him. I tried life orb but Hydreigon's in-ability to set up a sub against many threats late game dissauded me from it.

Synergy:
: Gyarados, Dragonite, hitmontop, infernape

: Jirachi, infernape

: Gyarados, Dragonite,

-----Hitmontop-----

2itsk2c.png

The OG(M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

Moves:

  • Mach punch: Boosted by max attack, life orb, and technician, people are very surprised on how powerful hitmontops priority is.

  • Fake out: I usually lead with this whenever I switch in. Lets me scout for switches while doing a good bit of damadge.

  • Rapid spin: Allows dragonite to come in anytime during a game and do his thing.

  • RADwBbftWGjj4oiqAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
    RADwBbftWGjj4oiqAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
Sucker Punch: Allows me to revenge kill latios! The threat my team could not deal with is easily taken care of by hitmontop.

Why this pokemon?: This pokemon, along with mew, has been very surprising. I originally chose it because starmie just kept becoming pursuit-bait. This pokemon has stopped sweeps from a huge number of threats. He easily takes care of terrakion which could pose a threat. I can't believe how useful he is as a revenge killer. I doubt I'll switch this pokemon as he has saved my ass too many times.

EVs, Item & Nature: I decided to max the attack and give him a life orb. This allows me to k0 top tier threats such as, terrakion, 50% health dragonite, 50% health volcarona, cloyster, tyranitar, heatran, alakazam just off the top of my head.

Synergy:

: Jirachi

: , Jirachi, Hydreigon

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk

  • - Slack Off

-----Infernape-----
9kta2q.png

Infernape (F) @ Expert Belt Trait: Blaze
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)

Moves:

  • RADwBbftWGjj4oiqAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
Nasty Plot: Tremendous boosting move. Alot of people expect a physcially based, which helps me alot.

  • Close Combat: Allows me to kill blissey and chansey, heatran, anything not hit by fire blast.

  • Fire Blast: I chose the combo of cc and fire blast because the things fire will be hitting have lower special def.

  • Grass Knot: Great coverage move that allows infernape to pull a full sweep.
Why this pokemon?: Harsha2014 suggested nasty plot infernape over mew. It has been worth it by far. The first few games, I was able to a large dent in the opponent's team. His stabs have much better coverage and allow me to not my sweep ended early.
EVs, Item & Nature: Max special attack allow for fire blast to be very powerful, and can make up for grass knots lack of power on lighter targets. Life orb allows for maxinum power.

Synergy:
: Hydreigon, Dragonite, Gyarados

: Hydreigon, Dragonite, Gyarados

-----Dragonite-----

2n0jatk.png

Mercenary (Dragonite)(F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

Moves:

  • Dragon Dance: Classic boosting move that lets dnite destroy.

  • Outrage: Locks him into this move, but still 3k0es standard ferrothorn. Dragon claw is just too weak, and this is a more offensive set.

  • ExtremeSpeed: allows dragonite to form a great priority duo with hitmontop. He can revenge kill alot of threats with 403 attack.
  • Earthquake: It's the most popular move in OU for a reason. I had fire punch here, but earthquake covers pokemon that aren't covered by my other mons, while fire attacks were already covered.

Why this pokemon?: Alot of people would agree with me that dragonite is the most dominant force in the game, and those with doubt, have to rethink their theory after they face Puff the Magic Dragon. Thanks to team preview, I sometimes lead with dragonite. Alot of times, My opponent is caught offguard and I can secure a few dragon dances. Even if hitmontop is taken out, I can pass a wish from jirachi to restore Dragonite's health. My opponent needs to take the utmost care when dealing with dragonite, or suffer his cataclysmic strength.

EVs, Item & Nature: Maxed attack and speed for the obvious reasons, and I chose a lum berry. Lets me set up on sun teams who will rely on WoWing dragonite with ninetales to take him out. I chose adamant because it adds prowess to extremespeed. And 388 speed after a DD, means only a select few outspeed him.

Synergy:

: Hitmontop, Jirachi

: Jirachi, infernape

Iphone (Mew)@ Life Orb
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

Moves:

  • Nasty plot: At +2, Mew reaches 598 special attack. This may not seem like much, but mew has all the right tools to take advantage of it.

  • Aura Sphere: My favorite move from the anime, and one that sees alot of use on mew. 0k0es so many threats after a nasty plot boost.

  • Psyshock: Chose this instead of Psychic, because of its ability to 2k0 chansey. Most fighting poke that have high defense are k0ed by aura sphere anyways so it isn't important.

  • Fire Blast: Lets me 0k0 the annoying steels such as jirachi, scizor, metagross. Also koes volcarona before a quiver dance.

Why this pokemon?: Too cute. No but really, I will tell you a story why I chose mew. I was going through many boosting special attackers, I liked volcarona for awhile, but air balloon heatran just walled its ass off. I tried alakazam, but he fell to priority. I then decided to try mew. Not believing Mew to be very worthwhile I played with him very recklessly. During my first game, I was getting destroyed by this hyper-offensive team. Mew was the last poke I had, and my opponent had four left. I forget which poke mew was switched in on, but my opponent switched. I then proceeded to nasty plot on the switch. Out came a terrakion. I knew this terrakion was choice banded, and had x-scissor. I thought the battle was lost, but I was very wrong. Mew takes the x-scissor, and than proceeds to 0k0 with aura sphere. I was very surprised by this result, as would anyone. My opponent than brings out a scizor, who obviosly bullet punches. But resillient as ever, mew takes the bullet punch to 0k0 with fire blast. Mew then proceeds to 0k0 the breloom and tentacruel that my opponent have left. Since then, mew has been a great asset to the team, who surprises the foe each and every time I battle.

-----Gyarados-----
sgsgmv.png

Gyarados (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
Moves:

  • RADwBbftWGjj4oiqAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
Taunt: allows me to stop ferrothorn and set up sweepers in their tracks. Great move for this set.

  • bUkK7ljaFhRvrot0w8dQ21Vg8wTQcvz5DPmIXvDDWfTvKPCDoZQ+oxMky9xDsYJ+JviIPpKC78jwDACUVUzU2ri34IAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
Thunder Wave: Makes good use of gyarados ability to cripple volt turn cores as he can come in on scizor, and then cripple rotom-w on the u-turn. Also takes care or threats such as lati@s whom hydreigon can then kill
  • K91N9d9t4Hcg+vb2gNBpRFlB0rnr0XqDcexhFU0eJi+TVjRtCZGcq2bSF8paBKkrpJtCoEkCI0bnhlf3wH1IA8AHRiAPlV4i9WwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==
Dragon tail: If only gyarados had this in gen 1 lol. Lets me phaze so many sweepers and rack up damdge for my sweepers.

  • 8sjxFyDpsBQAAAAASUVORK5CYII=
Waterfall: I was recently battling a rain team (who isn't) and I can attest to how much power this move has when backed by rain. I can form a parahax core kinda with jirachi and gyarados too. Allows me to counter hp rock volcarona, and 2k0s donphan.

Credit due to IronBullet93 for the set.

Why this pokemon?: The best check to scizor in the game, he can really hurt alot of the opposing team. Great counter to volcarona that lacks hp-rock. Most people barely ever pack hp electric moves this generation, which gives me room to counter alot of the metagame. If this poke comes in on an earthquake, you can probably expect the enemy to carry stone edge. But due to intimidate, He can take medium power level'ed ones pretty well. Good example of this would be infernape. Been using the new set suggested by harsha2014 and it has been destroying teams. Taunt lets me destroy sun teams.

Code:
[CENTER][CENTER]Detailed Specific Team Threat List[/CENTER]
[/CENTER]

Rain - These teams always run Politoed and will usually carry several strong special attackers to abuse Hurricane, Thunder, and rain-boosted Water-type attacks. Keep in mind the following questions when deciding if you are able to handle a Rain team:

[LIST]
[*]Can I control the weather or am I helpless vs Politoed?
[*]Can I put pressure on a rain team or will I simply have to keep switching out?
[*]Can I survive Water-type attacks from both sides of the attacking spectrum?
[*]Can I break through common cores found within these teams?*
[/LIST]
*Common cores of rain include Politoed, Ferrothorn, Dragonite, Jolteon, Tornadus, Dugtrio, Latios, Rotom-w, Scizor, and Gyarados. That isn't to say these are the only Pokemon found on offensive rain teams, but they are certainly some of the most common!

If your answer to the above questions is primarily no, then you need to re-evaluate your team. Switches don't mean much if you can't turn the situation around into your favor at all. A common scenario of this includes using Celebi to beat Politoed. Despite the advantage Celebi gives, Politoed can switch to a threat such as Tornadus to threaten Celebi - It is in your hands to make sure that you can keep the advantage of the game by forcing switches, which in this case, means putting the Tornadus (and hopefully the player) into a terrible spot.

Sand - Sand teams primarily use Tyranitar (but aren't lmited to only him because of Hippowdon). They usually have very strong defensive cores, along with powerful STAB Earthquakes and Stone Edges being thrown around. Because the list of Pokemon that abuse Sand really isn't anywhere near the size of Pokemon that abuse rain or sun, your goal shouldn't be too concerned with losing weather wars, unless your whole team falls apart in doing so. Instead, focus on the following questions:

[LIST]
[*]Is my team affected greatly by the passive damage of sandstorm, as well as the hazards usually found within a sandstorm team?
[*]Can I not handle the offensive pressure from combinations of Landorus, Tyranitar, and Terrakion?
[*]Is my team not strong enough to 2HKO primary threats in Sandstorm?
[/LIST]
If you answer yes to all 3, then you need to quickly re-evaluate your team. If you can not beat the offensive cores of sandstorm teams while simutaneously losing to the passive damage and bulk of them, then you simply won't be able to win. Be sure that your team has solid solutions to this archetype.

Sun - The last of the three most common weathers, sun is much like rain, except it can use Pokemon who's speed double in conjunction with it, unlike rain. Sun teams use strong Fire-types such as Darmanitan, Victini, and Volcarona, as well as powerful Grass-types to take out the Rock, Ground, and Water-types used to counter them.

To make sure you are well prepared to sun teams, be sure to answer the following questions:

[LIST]
[*]Can I control the weather vs a sun team?
[*]Do I have solid switch-ins to attacks like Darmanitan's sun-boosted Flare Blitz and Victini's sun-boosted V-Create?
[*]Can I survive +2 attacks from the many Chlorophyll sweepers found on sun teams?
[/LIST]
If you answered no to all of these questions, then you simply can't win vs a sun team. Sun teams are notorious for hitting hard and fast, so if you don't expect to solidly check them, then you need to change your team.

Stall - Stall teams can be weather or non-weather, but they all focus on the same central goal of laying down hazards and proving solid defense while the foe struggles to bring in Pokemon that can break them.

Being able to beat stall teams require a much different kind of thinking than trying to defeat archetypes of weather. Be sure to answer these questions:

[LIST]
[*]Can I control the hazards of the game, either by setting up my own or having a successful spin strategy?
[*]Is my team fine in the long-run by entry hazards?
[*]Can I attack from both sides of the attacking spectrum successfully?
[*]Can I lure in defensive threats that wall a large portion of my team and get rid of them (or even make them useless?)
[/LIST]
If you can't do any of these things and answered no, then your team isn't bring enough offensive pressure to match, as well as not enough defensive pressure to fight back. You will simply be stalled out, fighting to even land effective hits while slowly being worn down by hazards. The trick to fixing your team here is to fill in some of the roles listed above. For example, if Blissey walls much of your team and you have a Rotom-w with Will-o-Wisp, Thunderbolt, Hydro Pump, and Volt Switch, consider switching the Rotom-w into a choiced Pokemon, giving you the option to suprise Blissey and Trick it.

Dual Screens - Dual Screen teams can be terribly annoying to fight against, especially if your team is completely unprepared. The key to defeating them is to answer this series of questions:

[LIST]
[*]Am I helpless vs Dual Screen Deoxys-s, or can I use the turns that it sets up hazards and screens to my advantage?
[*]Is my team extremely weak to specific threats boosting up while protected by Reflect and Light Screen?
[*]Do I have any way to successfully revenge kill or counter Pokemon that set up with screens?
[*]Can I strike hard enough to win the battle after the screens are down?
[/LIST]
If your answers to these questions are for the most part negative, then you may need to re-evaluate your team and make small changes. Be sure to reference the OU Threat List to see which Pokemon are likely to set up while under screens.

Multi-Dragon - Multi-dragon teams (also known as "4drag2mag"), eliminate Steel-types (The only typing resistant to Dragon-type attacks) and spam said Dragon-type attacks. Despite it looking like a daunting task, ask yourself these questions about your team:

[LIST]
[*]Do I have solid Dragon-type resists?
[*]Can I survive if my main Dragon-type resist is eliminated?
[*]Can I punish the other team for using so many Pokemon of the same typing?
[*]Can I hit the other team just as hard as it tries to hit me?
[/LIST]
If your answer is yes to these questions, then you should be in a good position vs these teams. However, if your answer is no, then you need to patch up the weakness that you hold to these teams.

Baton Pass - Baton Pass teams have very few goals in mind - they either wish to pass to Espeon with a lot of boosts, or pass to a 4 attack Sweeper. To defeat these teams, keep these questions in mind:

[LIST]
[*]Can I break the chain successfully and/or somewhat easily?
[*]Am I not helpless to Espeon with only defensive boosts?
[*]Can I hit hard enough to quickly kill these teams after the chain is broken?
[/LIST]
This is perhaps the hardest strategy to prepare against. If you evaluate that you simply can't beat these teams through brute force or passive play, then you may want to add Perish Song or Haze to a Pokemon, in order to give yourself a much better chance.

Trick Room - Trick Room teams are rare but not forgotten. Because of the unique nature of these teams, they are usually bulky compared to other offensive teams. Ask yourself the following when evaluating Trick Room teams:

[LIST]
[*]Does the speed switch completely hamper my team?
[*]Can I outstall Trick Room turns to put myself back in advantage?
[*]Can I survive their attacks and strike back with powerful attacks of my own?
[/LIST]

Hey,

Got the request. That's a giant picture! Anyhow, I'll get straight to the rate. First off, I must say that Mew is extremely weak; trust me. Even with Nasty Plot, a lot of things outspeed Mew and have the ability to beat it. In fact, you used Volcarona as an example, but it's only a slim chance of OHKOing the moth after Nasty Plot. I think there is a better alternative for you to use; in fact, it looks like a Nasty Plot Infernape would do you good. It can set up similarly to Mew, and it has priority and stronger attacks, as well as an arguably better STAB. Now, it looks like you are using Gyarados to check physical attackers. Honestly, I have never been a fan of RestTalk sets; the opponent can set up way too easily, and you are reliant on luck. I encourage you to try out IronBullet93's Bulky Support Gyarados. It is better at checking threats, and it also can leave them paralyzed. Substitute Hydreigon is one of my favorite Pokemon, so I'm glad you are using it. However, you need to move the 4 HP EVs to SpD because it allows you to have more Substitutes and more HP after you set up each one. On Dragonite, I encourage you to use Earthquake instead of Fire Punch because you seem to have Skarmory and things of that nature covered very well already; having an out against Heatran should help you out.

Infernape @ Life Orb | Blaze
Naive Nature | 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nasty Plot | Close Combat | Fire Blast | Grass Knot / Vacuum Wave

Note: Use either coverage or priority. Your choice.

Gyarados @ Leftovers | Intimidate
Impish Nature | 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Waterfall | Taunt | Thunder Wave | Dragon Tail
Anyhow, this is a solid team. Hope I helped. Good luck!

I'll try out those suggestions.

Changed the evs on hydreigon.

I changed mew to infernape, it's working great.

I'm still iffy on the gyarados set and earthquake over fire punch though...

Both have their advantages, but gyarados just didn't last as long as I wanted him too. And skarmory whirlwinded me away while I was +4 on dragonite.

To Tikidude: Didn't think of pursuit thanks!

Hey man, I got your VM. Get rid of Foresight for Sucker Punch/Pursuit on Hitmontop. That way, you can kill ghosts immediately without wasting a turn/moveslot just to spin. That being said, you may even want to add a ghost type of your own to stop people from spinning away your rocks. Other than that, I don't see many problems. This team seems pretty solid (and totally cool!). I hope this helps! :P

Hi! I got your request. I'm not really good at rating, but here goes!

I'd first like to suggest the Standard Heatran over your current Infernape. I see it as the weak link to your team and you can also stuff in Stealth Rock in it, making your Jirachi deal with less stress. More importantly, you get to check sun teams better. At the moment, after your Dragonite goes down, you have nothing against Drought teams, where it could just spam Sun-boosted Fire attack and easily decimate your team. Infernape does a decent job, but Sludge Bomb Venusaur, Volcarona, and even Victini and Darmanitan (even when resisted you are one or two hit KO'd by it) are able to handle it with great ease. Not to mention, you gain another steel type which, you never know, might come in handy.

Next, change your current Jirachi to the Choice Scarf variant. With Choice Scarf, you receive another Dragonite check (if you go with Heatran) and that's always welcomed as Dragonite is a very popular threat in the current metagame! I know you now take much more damage from Latios, Haxorus, etc., but since they don't expect it, you are normally able to take them by surprise by out speeding them and deal a great amount of damage. You also have a scouter and that's always helpful. But what Jirachi does most for you is that it serves as an multi-purpose revenge killer, something that you team doesn't have which can be fatal. And unlike the specially defensive variant of Jirachi, if you are able to come in when Gengar doesn't have a Substitute on, you are easily able to gain the KO as if you weren't scarf, Gengar would've Substituted then Disable your Iron Head which can basically be game over for you. Taking on non-scarf Terrakion and Landorus is always so very helpful as nothing in your team can really take them on, too.

Finally, use Fire Punch over Earthquake on Dragonite. Hitting Heatran's cool and all, but Heatran's no where near the popularity of Scizor, Ferrothorn, etc. And in general, it's better and gives you a better coverage; not resisted by anything but Heatran which is easily addressed by the rest of your team (Hydreigon, Hitmontop, Gyarados).

I hope these suggestions helped you and good luck with your team!

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, - Atk

- Hidden Power [Ice]

- Earth Power

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Fire Punch / Ice Punch
- Trick

Well first off I would put sucker punch on hitmontop for kills on latios and life orb. Hydregion looks good but some other suggestions would be to put fake out on infernape(depletes sashes and gives priority), giive jirachi thunder bolt or pyschic for stab or just to hit certain pokemon like gyrados, and for I would replace sleep talk on gyrados for another attack move like ice fang, as sleep talk is unreliable in the way that you could easily get rest or waterfall against a gastrodon or something. I would give it a lum/chesto berry and not leftovers if you don't want to worry about being bait.

The think about Earthquake is that you don't want to set up Dragonite when you know they have a Skarmory. It would be best to beat Skarmory first, then set up Dragonite. Anyhow, glad I helped out!

The think about Earthquake is that you don't want to set up Dragonite when you know they have a Skarmory. It would be best to beat Skarmory first, then set up Dragonite. Anyhow, glad I helped out!

Only problem is, players that aren't new / stupid would only send their Skarmory to Hitmontop, Gyarados or Jirachi, who all of can't beat Skarmory. So, basically, using Fire Punch is in general a more safer option.

Edit: I have decided I am going to use Harsha2014's gyarados set. It allows me to tank many hits and paralysis gives me alot of opportunities throughout the rest of the game.

@lightz911- Dragonite usually acts as my lead or my late game sweeper. So if I ever take him out skarmory will be out of the equation. I don't feel my sweepers should share the same coverage moves.

I changed hitmontops fourth move to sucker punch. It allows me to kill latios which posed as a threat before.

Thankyou all for your input in my team!

Hey there! I'm not really a fan of offensive teams, but i'll give what i can! Your team looks pretty solid on the special side, but physically it looks slightly weaker. Here are some changes i'd suggest:
Toxic or foresight over fake out. Ghost types will definitely want to come in when they see a hitmontop (i mean, who wouldn't want to make that top's life hell?). If you toxic or foresight their sorry butts for making such a noob move, you can show them that you're not taking that shit.
Also: run DD on gyarados, and parashuffler on dragonite. Before you yell at me for bringing up something so stupid, consider it:
DD gyarados can outspeed most electric types, and its faster taunt will allow it to counter even more annoying stall pokemon!
Parashuffler dragonite is better than parashuffler gyarados. It's substitute and great recovery allows you to last much longer. Also, dragon tail on dragonite gets stab. Dragonite is bulkier, and will actually benefit from the cut speed in his opponent.
I this been helpful. I would really like to battle this team, and see it in action. As for now, I'll conclude by saying that you have a great team here. Keep up the good work!

Also, you might want to include scizor to put in priorty and to pursuit psychic tyPes (mainly latios). I don't know who you'd sack, but this is just a suggestion.

I would really take LO off infernape and replace with sash, or take off nasty plot. Especially being naive, its not going to have much chance to set up a nast plot, and with life orb it'll just die so quickly.

You don't set up against Pokemon that can hurt you with Infernape. You send him out on guaranteed switches like Skarmory, Blissey, and that lot. And don't give non-leads a Focus Sash because nearly every team carries hazards. It's meant to force a switch and then set up. Have you tried frail set up sweepers before, GARCHOMPZILLA? I'm sure you'd be surprised because they are more effective than you let on.

skarm drill pecks, blissey paralyses, etc. I would still go fake out, it helps kill various things at low hp, and sash depletes. I have used infernape a lot, I can tell it's hard to set pnasty plot, becuase often hey just switch to something faster that kills you.

No one in the right mind leaves Skarmory or Blissey in. It's not hard to set up a Nasty Plot. Hell, there's barely anything faster in the tier. Also, who runs Drill Peck on Skarmory??

latios is.
also enemy gyrados seem problematic, is it possible t-bolt could replace one of jirachi moves? Or that infernape could have thunderpunch?

With Stealth Rock, Infernape OHKOes Gyarados at +2. Seeing as Gyarados is a common switch in, he has the thing handled.

@eliteoctoomba195040

I like the suggestion about hitmontop, I'll certainly give it a try.
But with the scizor suggestion, hitmontop already does that. He also gives me valuable rapid spin support that allows gyarados and dnite to come in. Scizor doesn't really help me, because all his jobs are already filled.

I don't like gyarados as a sweeper, because his water stab just isn't enough coverage for me. If I were to use dnite as a shuffler, I would use a different physical sweeper. But if I could use dnite as a shuffler and a sweeper, trust me I would.

Thank you so much for your input! and I'll leave u a message so we can battle.

Latios is 0k0ed by hitmontop's sucker punch after stealth rock.

Hi, nice team, you seem to be getting the hang of things.

Anyways, I can see DD Haxorus with a Lum Berry being a pretty huge threat to this team. Dragonite is outright KO'd by +1 Outrage, even through Multiscale. Lum denies Jirachi and Gyarados the oppurtunity to Paralyze Haxorus while Dragon Tail is essentially meaningless in the long run because Haxorus can always come in again and set up. Hitmontop could probably take down one that's been dented and is at around 40%, but it's definitely not a reliable revenge killer. Anyways, I suggest changing your Hydreigon to a Scarf variant, it may minimize its offensive capabilities since it's going to be locked into one move, but having a revenge killer for Haxorus and many other major threats is hardly a tradeoff.

Additionally, I think you could benefit from giving Jirachi a shed shell over Leftovers. SubCharge Magnezone sets up all over your current set, and while you can beat it at +6, it will have taken out 3 of your Pokemon by the time you do that, in addition to that, you need Jirachi for Latios, which is often seen with Magnezone, in conjunction with other Dragons; Jirachi is also useful for taking Outrages nothing wants to. If Jirachi is removed, everything loses their Wish Support and the opponent will undoubtedly break through the team. Jirachi should be fine healing with Wish and is immune to Sandstorm, so losing Lefties isn't a huge blow.

Hydreigon:

Hydreigon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid/Modest Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Focus Blast/Fire Blast
- U-Turn
- Dragon Pulse/Dark Pulse

@karpman
I was actually thinking about changing leftovers to shed shell as I faced a magnezone that gave me trouble. I'll try it out to see if the lack of lefties affects me.

As to your hydreigon suggestion, putting a choice scarf on it would ruin its ability to counter volt turn and avoid status.

Haxorus can be trouble, but hitmontop can do 70 percent and dnite koes with extreme speed after that. Or vice versa.

Hello, pretty decent team you made here.

Hitmontop seems somehow bad in this team, because you already have a fighting pokemon and hitmontop cant really deal too much damage. I also see Jirachi with stealth rocks i think you should put protect instead of SR becuase sometimes you wont be able to be faster that a pokemon and use iron head for the flinch (you also shouldn't rely on hax; for iron head flinch) so he would finish you of and both the wish and jirachi are gone. With protect however you can safely recover your hp.
Now i would suggest you using an offensive Donphan instead of Hitmontop. Donphan can set up rocks, he can deal a ton of damage with eq, he has sturdy which, if not broken, lets him survive any move and then use eq for the finish. I would recommend you this set:

232.gif

Donphan Leftovers
Ability:Sturdy
Nature : Adamant
252 HP / 252 Att / 6 Def
Earthquake
Stealth rocks
Rapid spin
Ice shard

This Set is tested so trust me it works very well.

I've used donphan before, but he didn't live up to my standards, I lose my revenge killer. Sure donphan revenges dragons, but there's too many threats that hitmontop handles for me.

You currently have a serious weakness to Sub CM (and Wish CM) Jirachi on Rain teams. I just don't see how you currently handle
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Timid 252 HP 4 SpA 252 Spe
Sub
CM
Thunder
Water Pulse

Dragonite is your only even somewhat reasonable option to take down Jirachi under Rain. Hydreigon isn't going to take much from the attacks, but under Rain, Jirachi only takes 23-27% from Fire Blast after one CM, meaning Jirachi has a good chance to keep setting up even after you switch in Hydreigon, especially since Jirachi outspeeds.

To help combat Sub CM Jirachi better (and rain teams in general,) I would suggest replacing Gyarados with a Gastrodon. You don't have much in the way of hazards for Dragon Tail to be abusing and with the addition of Infernape, Ferrothorn should be less of a problem. The standard tank Gastrodon should help your team a lot. You have 4 team mates that would all be happy to switch into the Grass moves Gastrodon is weak to, should a Ferrothorn or Celebi switch in.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Storm Drain
Sassy 252 HP 4 SpA 252 SpD
Earthquake
Ice Beam/Scald
Toxic
Recover

Hope this helps and gl with the team.

Nice team you got there, but I do see Choice Band Terrakion as a massive problem as it can OHKO or 2HKO anything in your team. Also Haxorus and Dragonite seem a mayor problem after a boost because it can 2HKO Jirachi with Earthquake & Fire Punch respectively, and your best way is to double-switch with Gyarados & Jirachi where SR can hinder Gyarados if you didnt removed them yet.

My first suggestion to solve your Terrakion problem is to replace Gyarados for Slowbro. Gyarados does not gain valuable paralysis since its common switch-ins like Celebi & Skarmory wont mind it. Slowbro can get pokemon like Latios, Hydreigon, Rotom-W & Gengar switching into Thunder Wave making him better than Gyarados at spreading paralysis. To add more, thanks to Slowbro´s giant Defense it can take Terrakion´s hits and even if it hits with a predicted X-Scissor, Slowbro has Regenerator healing 33.33% as it switches out. Psychic will allow you to deal better with other Fighting-types while Fire Blast is for Ferrothorn.
080.gif

Slowbro (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Psychic / Fire Blast
- Slack Off

- Thunder Wave

I would like to back-up emirinho´s suggestion of running an Offensive Donphan instead of Hitmontop considering it is your weakest link and Sucker Punch is obvious on Hitmontop, so a smart Latios user will simply Trick or Recover to avoid it. With 128 Speed EVs, Donphan will be able to outspeed Jellicent trying to block its spin and 2HKO it with a predicted Earthquake after SR before it KOs it back. Ice Shard will also help you out in dealing with Drag-Mag teams considering Jirachi can be trapped and it is your only counter to Dragon-type mons.
232.gif

Donphan (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

With Stealth Rock on Donphan, you might want to consider Protect on Jirachi instead of that same move, to replenish lost HP better and outsmart Trick. U-turn is also an excellent option to escape Magnezone and give some momentum to the team.

Nice team and I hope this rate helps :].
