Arena
ASB Tournament Arena
Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Facing the unenviable situation of having to send out the first Pokemon and almost undoubtably be at a type disadvantage, Flamestrike decides to leave with his massive Mamoswine called Glacierstrike. Sure enough Elevator Music responds with a near perfect check in the form of a Revenankh. Could be tough going for the strikes right off the bat.

The Mamoswine starts throwing his weight around right away in the form of a huge tackling Icicle Crash. Unfortunately for him Revenankh is able to turn this very same weight against him when a Vital Throw sends the Ice type hurtling across the ASB Arena! Knowing this match up may not be the best for him Glacierstrike instead opts to set up for the rest of the match by hurling Stealth Rocks all over the other side of the field. Revenankh is unfazed by this and just Hammers him back with a shot from his Arm. The final action is a carbon copy of the first and Glacierstrike is again unable to save himself from harm with a flinch. In fact he's staring down a pretty substantial disadvantage here, but at least those rocks might help out later on.

The fairly severly disadvantaged mammoth just decides to do all it can by rocking the arena with an Earthquake to shake Revenankh up a little. Unfortunately that is exactly all he can do as a one two combination of Drain and Mach Punches sees Glacierstrike knocked out of this match and Revenankh actually ending the round on more HP than it started! That doesn't bode too well for Flamestrike.

With Flame sending out Vinestrike the Venusaur to fill the void left by the unfortunately outmatched Glacierstrike and Elevator Music immediately thinks it might be a good time to change the match-up completely. Of course sending out Morufon the Venomoth does mean the mammoth's Stealth Rocks come into play and the bug is starting this one off behind the eight ball.

Unfortunately for the moth he also finds out that his offences are a little bit muted against the specially bulky Grass type and his Psychic attack doesn't actually do a whole lot of damage.. Meanwhile Vinestrike uses what coverage he has by using his Hidden Power. Morufon may have the varied coverage but unfortunately the low power of his Air Cutter results in Vinestrike easily showing him up with an Earthquake. The round ends with another trade of their best attacks respectively and a critical hit from Venusaur's final Hidden Power ensures that Flamestike finds himself squarely in the lead after this change of combatants.

Venomoth has the levitate trait, so it should be able to avoid Earthquake
EDIT: Also Venusaur has rank 5 spatk, so the Hidden Powers should have done more

People should really put Levitate trait on their Pokemon... This isn't the first time I've been burnt by that >.> Will post later, at work right now.

Yeah, I'm actually going to go out on a limb here and let the Earthquake hit and then only apply the trait from now on. A battler should be able to rely on their opponent to give all the necessary information on a Pokemon via the profile and not have to research every mon in the DAT before giving orders.

The Hidden Power however is an easy fix.

I'm not sure if that's the fairest way to do it, but if that's the case then EQ should have done less damage because Venusaur only has Rank 2 attack. I'm going to let EM weigh in on the Earthquake hitting first before I post though, while I agree that not having the Levitate trait in the profile is unfair I don't think making the move hit anyway is quite the right way to handle it.

"Very well then. Scorchstrike, let's see if you can live up to your name! Start off with a Flare Blitz, then follow up with a Fire Blast! If Venomoth is still around after that, then finish it off with a Flamethrower! If he uses Double Team or an evasive move, then use a Heat Wave to deal with it!"

Summary:
Flare Blitz -> Fire Blast -> Flamethrower
If he uses Double Team or an evasive action use Heat Wave and push actions back

The EQ thing might have been a little harsh but I just have a pet hate revolving around incomplete/poorly managed profiles. Not at all a personal comment EM so please don't take it that way. Hopefully we can all move on and have a fun match still :).
Also Strike, you forgot to give Charizard an item so if you wanted to then I'll apply it from next round onwards.

Even after seeing that he was still able to come out on top of the matchup that Elevator Music chose Flamestrike knows its best he just ran with the all out offence and switches it up to let Scorchstrike hit the field. Immediately the big brute shows off his skills by charging right through Morufon's Toxic gunk with a hige Flare Blitz! Unfortunately for him the recoil and poisoning mean he takes some hurt himself. The moth is definitely playing a stall game here and Protects against the incoming Fire Blast while allowing the Toxic to do its job. He takes a different tact to end the round but the result is much the same. He absorbs the Morning Sun to more than cancel out Scorchstrike's Flamethrower and the Bug type lives to fight another day.
