Introduction

Good day Smogon, I am Sucka Punch the runner up in the round 63 Tutee tour and welcome to my 2nd RMT posted on this site. This is a Black and White 1 stall team that I have spent a lot of time working on and playing with, trying to make the most out of the team and this is my final result. In my opinion it is very strong and can handle almost anything you throw at it from a Sub SD Terrakion to a Nasty Plot Celebi, and it does it while using a few sets that most people probably haven't seen in a while.

A Closer Look
(Changes are in Bold)

455.png

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 SpD
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Roar

Let it be said here, Hippowdon is a straight up monster, capable of taking on a plethora of physical attacks and even some weaker special ones with ease, setup the Stealth Rocks for my team, Phaze the opposing pokemon out to rack up entry hazard damage or to prevent setup and finally the ability to recover 50% of his HP which can just straight up annoy some teams that find it hard enough to break him as is. The Evs are used to allow Hippowdon to tank physical hits as efficiently as possible while allowing him to take some weaker special attacks a little better like Spdef Heatrans attacks and Hp ice from Landorus.

242.png

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 Spe
Calm Nature (+Sdef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Flamethrower
- Toxic

This big fat blob is the special wall for my team, it's my main switch in to Rotom-Ws volt switch because its not as easily trapped as Celebi and its a nice switch in to Latios/Latias because of her ability to tank everything bar a psyshock and then proceed to toxic stall them. Wish/Protect is for healing herself and occasionally team mates which has proven to be very useful as it almost always brings them up to full health. Flamethrower allows it to Destroy Scizor, and there is nothing funnier than having someone send in a Lucario and they going for a SD thinking they're safe, then they get fried by a Blissey. and Toxic allows me to beat some big threats like Volcarona, Celebi, Hippowdon etc. The EVs are also quit simple, 252 in HP for the most possible bulk, enough speed to outrun CB scizor so I can just fry him and the rest is dumped in Def to help take things like CB Tyranitars Crunch/Pursuit and CB Scizors U-Turn. Added Lizards EV set to make Blissey more efficient.

205.png

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 244 HP / 192 Def / 32 SpA / 40 SpD
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spe)
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Hidden Power Ice
- Toxic Spikes / Volt switch

This is my only Steel type for my team, and man does he do a lot for it. Taking down Subtoxic Gliscor with ease which would normally be a huge nuisance. It's my only dragon resist so if they're locked into outrage I go to him to take it and do whatever needs to be done. The move set is pretty straight forward, Spikes and Toxic Spikes too put even more pressure on the opponent and make Hippowdon even more deadly, rapid spin to remove entries from my side, and HP Ice to remove certain Gliscor variants and to hit Dragonite and Salamence quite hard. Still deciding between Volt Switch and T-Spikes.

623.png

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 148 Def / 16 SpD / 96 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald / Night Shade / Shadow Ball
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt

This is a poke that allows my team to stay together, aiding against other stall teams and preventing people from just spinning away my entry hazzard support while also keeping hazards off my side of the field with taunt. Will-o-Wisp is to cripple T-tar, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn on the switch, as well as giving me another way to deal with Scizor if SD variant. Recover to regain health, and Scald just so I don't become taunt bait while the small chance to burn is almost always nice. Shadow Ball would help with the removal of Starmie, but Night Shade would give me an alternative check to CM Reuniclus while also allowing me to take on SubDD Gyarados.

248.png

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

I chose this T-tar over the banded set for one reason, while it can't ohko Jellicent and Reuniclus its ability to trap and KO Gengar with ease made it a much better choice to the team as the other two are more easily countered. The moveset is just the standard Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Crunch/Pursuit for Trapping and Playing mind games, Superpower to ko Lucario and Terrakion, and Stone Edge to hit Flying types like Dragonite and Landorus.

251.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Perish Song
- Recover
- Hidden Power Fire

A very Important member to my team, Celebi it's here for a few reasons. It makes rain teams a little easier to deal with, it stops bulk up breloom from 6-0ing me, and with Perish Song, it stops Reniclus and SubMind Jirachi 2 very good counters to most stall right in their tracks. Giga Drain is a good STAB move for Celebi allowing it to be a big help against Rain teams, and then HP fire to hit opposing steel type pokemon like Ferrothorn and Scizor.

Threat list (in progress) Bolded = a threat to the team
Standard OU Offensive Threats

248MS.png
Tyranitar:
  • Choice Band -
  • Choice Scarf -All these variant are handled by Hippowdon easily and Forretress can be used if needed.
  • Dragon Dance -
Ani479WMS.png
Rotom-W:
  • Choice Scarf / Specs - Both of these are handled by Celebi as it resists both of his stabs and can do major damage with giga drain. Blissey with its gigantic Spdef and HP walls it with ease.
  • Support -
212MS.png
Scizor:
  • Choice Band - Forretress resists his STABS and has a huge defense stat to take its other moves. Blissey outspeeds and can fry it with flamethrower as well as hp fire from celebi.
  • Swords Dance - This one is a little harder to handle, I have to keep phazing it or try to burn it with jellicent.
  • Bulky Swords Dance - Jellicent Can burn it crippling it then Hippowdon can phaze or celebi/blissey can kill it with fire.
Ani149MS.png
Dragonite:
  • Choice Band - Stealth rocks damage is good for all of dragonites. Hippowdon can roar him out and forretress can hp ice it if locked into outrage.
  • Dragon Dance - Hippowdon can just roar him out
  • Mixed - Hippowdon should be enough to take it.
  • Parashuffler - Celebi can perish song it and forretress can hp ice it but thats about it.
  • Rain Abuse - Blissey tanks thunders and hurricanes all day and I can remove the weather with hippowdon/ tyranitar
Ani186MS.png
Politoed:
  • Choice Specs / Scarf - Blissey/Celebi/Jellicent Handle any attacks that any politoed could throw at them, combined with entry hazard support
  • 3 Attacks -
Ani485MS.png
Heatran:
  • Standard - Blissey walls him but cant attack back so im forced to just wish+protect until i see a chance to send in ttar to force him out.
Ani385MS.png
Jirachi:
  • Substitute + Calm Mind / Wish + Calm Mind - Hippowdon takes all of them bar ones with water pulse, which those are handled by celebi.
  • Expert Belt - Never seen one of these before
  • Choice Scarf - Forretress Jellicent and hippowdon cover this really well.
Ani381MS.png
Latios:
  • Life Orb / Expert Belt - Blissey walls all variants not using psyshock and can toxic stall it, ttar can trap them with pursuit.
  • Choice Scarf / Specs -
  • Calm Mind -

  • Dragon Dance - Same as above
  • Double Dance - Never faced one of these either.

Conkeldurr:
  • Bulk Up - Hippowdon can just roar it out and thats really my only option
  • Flame Orb + 3 Attacks -

  • Nasty Plot Sweeper - Blissey hits it with toxic and wish protect stalls and ttar can do damage with crunch if last resort.
  • Tinkerbell - Blissey once again.
  • Choice Specs / Choice Scarf -Blissey is the main switch.
Ani639MS.png
Terrakion:
  • Double Dance - Hippowdon comes in on the boost then EQs for the ko
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Band - Hippowdon doesn't take too much from its moves and can ko with earthquake
  • Substitute + Swords Dance - Hippowdon comes in on the SD/Sub if sub I roar, If SD I EQ just to get rid of it.
Ani130MS.png
Gyarados:
  • Offensive / Bulky Dragon Dance -I normally just use jellicent against the ones that dont pack sub, if it does pack sub all i can do i perish song it on the bounce then switch to hippowdon to take it, and just try to rack up stealth rock damage.
  • Choice Band / Choice Scarf - Just find out what move he locks himself into, celebi can take everything but bounce, and bounce is handled by hippowdon.
Ani094MS.png
Gengar:
  • Substitute + Disable / Pain Split - Trap outspeed and ko thats my only option.
Ani121MS.png
Starmie:

Ani392MS.png
Infernape:
  • Mixed Attacker - Jellicent handles it quite well.
  • Nasty Plot / Swords Dance Booster - Jellicent im guessing, idk never faced one
  • Choice Band - Hippowdon
Ani637MS.png
Volcarona:
  • Offensive Quiver Dance - Get Stealth Rocks up ASAP then Toxic it with Blissey and stall it out
  • Bulky Quiver Dance - Entry Hazards are key to removing volc, and jellicent can taunt and resists both of its stabs and stall it out once its been toxic'd
  • Chesto Rest - I guess im screwed.
  • Substitute - No idea, I guess try to get T-spikes and Stealth rocks up, then try to phaze it if possible.
Ani462MS.png
Magnezone:
  • Substitute - Just try to stop forre from getting trapped then use blissey celebi or hippowdon to either phaze wall or perish song.
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Specs - Same as the first, this one is a little easier though because no lefties.
Ani196MS.png
Espeon:
  • Calm Mind - Trap and ko with ttar or perish song with celebi.
  • Bulky Sun Attacker / Passer - Trap with ttar.
Ani373MS.png

  • Mixed -
  • Defensive -
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Band -
Ani635MS.png
Hydreigon:
  • Offensive - Blissey takes it and walls it easily while it racks up SR and Sand storm damage.
  • Choice Specs / Choice Scarf - Just use Blissey
  • Substitute - I'm pretty much screwed against this unless I play exceptionally well with switches into ttar.
Ani286MS.png
Breloom:
  • Bulk Up -
  • Sub Seed - Just use Celebi for everything :]
  • Sub Punch -
Ani380MS.png

  • Offensive Tank -
  • Choice Specs -
Ani454MS.png
Toxicroak:
  • Swords Dance - I can setup spikes with forre without fear, then either roar him with hippo, or perish song it with celebi and if its the ice punch variant I can burn it with jellicent.
  • Bulk Up - Same as before, except I have a much easier time setting up entry hazards vs it and also have a much easier time phazing it.
Ani448MS.png
Lucario:
  • Swords Dance - Hippowdon takes a hit and can ko with EQ, Scarf tar outspeeds and koes with super power as long as it doesnt have bullet punch, jellicent is immune to CC and Extreme speed though if it is the rare bullet punch variant.
  • Nasty Plot -

Hey,

Cool stall team, it looks very solid so there aren't many things that could be improved really. However, I have some suggestions that you may want to consider. First, you should consider usin Shadow Ball instead of Scald on Jellicent, as without it, Starmie can beat Jellicent, spinning your entry hazards. Shadow Ball also helps against Reuniclus as Jellicent can Taunt+Shadow Ball Reuniclus. Another thing you should change is using Volt Switch instead of Toxic Spikes on Forretress. Toxic Spikes aren't very useful since Tentacruel is very common and most pokemon in OU are inmune to Toxic Spikes, so its use it's pretty much limited to winning weather wars (something your team does pretty well already). Volt Switch lets you handle Gyarados better, as it's a huge threat to your team.

Finally, if you want to adapt your team to the BW2 metagame, you could use a Specially Defensive EV spread on Celebi, as it lets Celebi check Keldeo and rain teams in general better.

This is an exceptional stall team, I am not at all surprised you've had so much success with it.

If you want to keep Scald on Jellicent, you could switch to a Specially Defensive EV spread. With a spread of 252 HP / 36 Def / 124 SpD / 96 Spe Calm you will be able to spinblock Starmie very effectively, as neither Psyshock or Thunderbolt take down Jellicent. As Starmie is much less threatening. you can keep Scald. Also, seeing as Jellicent naturally resists Water type attacks and has Recover, and you have Wish Bliss and Celebi as back-up, Cursed Body seems like a better ability choice. Especially with Taunt, Jellicent can wait for Cursed Body to activate on your opponents strongest move, and then force a switch, further building up entry hazard damage.

I think Toxic Spikes aren't that necessary on Forretress. While always nice to have, I think either Gyro Ball or Volt Switch are better choices in that slot. Gyro Ball would be nice to nail Terrakion especially (SD versions are by far the biggest threat to this team), but Volt Switch could be awesome to escape Magnezone seeing as Forretress is your main Outrage sponge. Depending on what Ghost is being used to spinblock, Volt Switch Forretress into Scarftar is a really mean combo to help you spin more easily.

Another option could be to use Stealth Rock in the place of TSpikes on Forry and use Gliscor instead of Hippowdon. While even Gliscor can fall to SD Terrakion, it stops it more reliably and prevents SD Terrakion or Landorus + another physical sweeper from taking you down. You lose one weather inducer, but gain some coverage on your team's largest threat. If you don't make this change, I would highly recommend Ice Fang over Roar to stop SD Landorus and DD Dragons with less prediction. I would not go Specially Defensive on Celebi, so it can still stomach a +2 Stone Edge from Landorus and Giga Drain out of 2HKO range.

Excellent team SuckaPunch, hope I helped a little bit.

Hi, your EV spread on Blissey is bad. Calm with 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 Spe takes both physical and special hits better.

I would also advise to run max HP on Forretress for best all around bulk, but that is more of a preference with me.

Decent team and good luck.

Thanks for the rates, and since everyone pretty much has the same idea with volt switch > tspikes, it has to be worth a shot, the only reason I was running tspikes is it allowed me to beat all spin blockers but gengar, which is handled easily by tyranitar, but it never hurts to try it :]

As for the blissey, ill be sure to change the ev spread to be more efficient.

Really nice team bro, looks solid and I am pretty sure there isn't much else you can improve on besides maybe Heal Bell > Toxic on Blissey.

Good luck with the team and I am sorry for the poor rate.

Hey!

This is a solid team here and congrats on all the success you've had with it. But there are some changes you could make. For one, I suggest using Volt Switch on Forretress as Toxie Spikes are inacfective in this metagame. I also suggest Shadow Ball on Jellicent over Scald. This allows you to beat Starmie. There is not much you can do about the Volcarona weakness, but you can try a Specially Defensive Hippowdon to take these hits a little better.

Hey sucka! I rlly dont see many problems for this team, it is really good. The only changes I could see are the ones PDC already mentiones which seem useful. Again congrats :D
